Szechwitz Civil War

11-11-2003, 23:24
Der Großer Niklas Lukas von Streuben strummed his polished desk methodically. In front of him, shifting uncomfortably, was the fat, pear-shaped form of General Alexandre Hans Klappen, the high commander of the Szechwitz Mächtige Armee von Szechwitz.

The news ... was not good news. And Der Großer did not like ... bad news.

Klappen had just informed von Streuben that the unruly region of Dreizden had seceded from Szechwitz and the governor, Generalleutnant Albrecht Reichmann, had given a quite derogatory personal insult to Das Großer. Klappen had also formed Der Großer that nearly a fifth of Szechwitz's standing military had defected with Reichmann.

With a weary sigh, von Streuben pulled a polished chrome CZ-75 from the top drawer of his desk and shot Klappen six times in the chest. Calmly putting the gun away and looking disdainfully down at the body of his former General, he remarked to Generaloberst Reinhard Werner zum Adler,

"I hope you can perform your duties better then your .... predecessor, General."

Adler gulped and saluted before spinning on his heel and marching out of the room. With a grim smile, Der Großer turned towards a large wall-mounted map of Szechwitz.

Once again brandishing his CZ-75, as some aides pulled the immobile lump of Klappen's body from the room, von Streuben fired at the map, tearing a hole over Rostock, the capital of Dreizden. This rebellion ends now.

Bomfy was seated at his desk when Chief General Jason Taylor walked in and handed him a report of the happenings in Szechwitz along with a profile of the nation.

"Well it's no wonder there's a rebellion, the country's in the shitter." commented Bomfy

"Yeah, and it seems like their despot is going to eliminate these rebels with a little overkill." explained the general.

"Well, let's make him pay for trying to oppress his people, launch bomber strike against his capital city, no nuclear or chemical weapons just yet." said Bomfy, "Now go, if we don't act fast, then it'll be too late."

"Yes Sir."

Albrecht Reichmann's headquarters were in a bunker underneath the city of Rostock, which had been bombed on and off for the past day, since he declared his independence. So far, no major damage had been done, but he knew Szechwitz was gathering up strength for a major offensive.

ANN Special Report – “Strikes on Szechwitz”

Lupine AFB, Arrio, Aequatio - Earlier today, it was announced by the government that the Aequatian Republic Military Forces would be using its strategic bombers against Loyalist military targets within the nation of Szechwitz.

Both the 3rd and 4th Heavy Bomber Squadrons have been put on active duty and are preparing to hit targets around and within Szechwitz's capital city. As well, the 8th Tactical Bomber Squadron has been put on active duty, however, it is not known whether they will be taking part in operations against the Empire of Szechwitz.

We will bring you further information as often as we can.

This is Guy Phillips for Aequatian New Net from Lupine Air Force Base in Arrio.

The Democratic Republic of Agua Puro will recognize Dreizdein on one condition:
The government recognizes the rights of the citizen to freedom of speech, press, and assembly, especially in political criticism.
However, we only request a guarantee that these will be honored after the civil war.

Agua Puro's state-controlled Tanaka-Diaz Arms Corp. will sell M-16's to Dreizden forces at the low price of $500 USD.

We will also airlift several officers from the Armed Forces Academy in Zafiro, Agua Puro (the town in which Zafiro Military Installation is located) to train your forces into effective fighting condition. Training will be limited to infantry work with a variety of weapons and styles; however, weapons beyond the M-16 will not be offered to keep, or sold. Tactics will focus on the 6-man squad, but other methods will be taught. Guerrilla warfare will not be, as your people probably have a better understanding of it than most of our training instructors.

This training will be free.

Agua Puro will set up a temporary airfield outside Rostock. No military personnel other than transport helicopter pilots, 20 guards, and the instructors, including our Gen. Mira, will be sent. 2 transport heli's will be landed at all times.

Agua Puro is behind Dreizdein on this one.

Der Großer grimaced as he looked out over Chemnitz, his capital. The thick smog from the coal mines coalesced with the smoke and debris from the recent bombings. War had already been declared on Aequatio and Agua Puro, who had been foolish enough to ally with the rebels.

Der Großer knew the situation was not good for his Empire, he simply did not have the power to defeat the rebels and two foreign armies. He hated having to appeal to allies, he viewed it as a sign of weakness. However, in this time there is no choice.

With a heavy sigh, he turned towards a camera his aides wheeled into his office and straightened out his suit. He motioned for it to be turned on.

"This is Der Großer Niklas Lukas von Streuben of the Empire of Szechwitz. This message goes out to all our allies and other nations that are willing to help us destroy the capitalist rebels in Dreizdein. I regret that this message is so prompt ... but times are hard."
13-11-2003, 06:12
Maarva will uphold it's existing alliance with Szechwitz and will aid them in a war to crush the rebellion in Dreizdein. We urge Agua Puro and and Aequatio to withdraw their forces or change sides, to prevent an unnecessarily bitter war.
13-11-2003, 21:43
The Armed Republic of Nambu will also join Szechwitz, but let it be known that we will not actively fight the rebels, only the foreign powers that are intervening. Our Secretaries of War should converse and decide on a battle plan.

Ambassador John Duran sat down at his newly polished desk He looked across the table at Lt. Mark Grendal, his cheif of security.

Duran:Mark, tell me you have good news. I didn't just polish my desk for nothing...

Grendal: Well...wait, why do you have to polish your own desk?

Duran: Stupid people in the Hexagon (equal of the Pentagon) say something of mine has to be damaged in military action to be replaced. I need a lot of new stuff in this office, and I'm never going to get it. Anyway, why did you come?

Grendal: John, it looks like we have some serious problems. Part of Szechwitz has split off and is declaring itself independant. Civil war has broken out, and two nations have, in diffirent ways, begun to help the Dreizdein. I'm not sure what we should do sir.

Duran: I'm assuming the Dreizdein are the newly broken off party. I'll contact the president, but this civil war probably won't do much to our country. Not that it will do much to this country either. Not that there is much TO DO to this country...it's too far into the dump to really be hurt any more. Anyway, we don't necesarily...wait, what's that sound?

Grendal: Sounds like tornado sirens...though this is the wrong time of year for twis...WAIT, SHIT, THOSE ARE AIR RAID SIRENS!

Duran: What! Fuck, hit the embassy alarm, get everyone downstairs.

The two rush out of the office, but it's too late, the bombs begin hitting the city. The embassy, which just about anyone could mistake for a military structure (due to the walls and gates) is almost immediatly hit by a bomb. The two quickly hide under a table in a random conference room, blocking themselves from the debris. For the few minutes , the bombing continues, and the embassy is hit 3 more times. When the bombers leave, the ambassador starts getting up, swearing.

Duran: Damnit, I told everyone our flag should be on the roof! They probably think they took out a barracks or something.

Grendal (while talking into a cell phone): I've got 17 injuries reported, no fatalities inside sir. I do have some good news though!

Duran: Let me guess, you saved 200 dollars on your car insurance.

Grendal: Uh..no...your office..look!

Duran: It's devastated! What's so good about that!

Grendal: Well, its been killed in a military action. That means you can request new equitment.

Duran: Damn right I can...infact, break all the shit thats out of date and wasnt destroyed in the attack...

Grendal: Then what

Duran: Get me a line to the president...and call 911, see if you can get some help for our casulties. Oh yeah, and put the embassy on code red.

Grendal: Will do....

The two hurry off to do their duties, little knowing that this had only been the start.

(OOC: I know I'm taking a little bit of freedom with this post, but as far as I can tell, Szechwitz has accepted my bomber strikes on his nation, if not, then tell me I'm godmodding and disregard this post.)

ANN Special Report – “Press Conference on Operations against the Empire of Szechwitz”

Central Command, Magna Casa, Aequatio - Guy Phillips reporting at the Aequatian Military Central Command, where Chief General Jason Taylor is about to give a press conference about the strike launched against the Empire of Szechwitz earlier this week.

The General walks up to the podium as a sergeant follows and sets a stand up with several photographs on them.

"As you already know, the 3rd and 4th Heavy Bomber Squadrons, consisting of B-52J Stratofortress and B-2 Spirit Bombers launched an air campaign against targets in the Empire of Szechwitz, I am before you today to give you a look at photos of bomb damage done in and around the capital. (OOC: Could I get the name of your capital, so I don't have to keep calling it your capital city?)

The first photograph is of a large, single building shaped like the letter "L", at each of the ends, there is extensive bomb damage as well as a large portion of the midsection of the building blown apart and its debris strewn beside the building in the adjacent field.

"This is was one of the first targets hit in the operation, believed to be one of the Loyalist divisional headquarters, we felt it necessary for a strike to eliminate the chain of command." explained the General, "This, among others like it were hit in the opening stages of the operation."

The sergeant removes the photograph revealing the second one. This one is of a very large, U-shaped building in the middle of a large urban zone. It is pot-marled with small bomb damage and attentions are drawn to an entire section of the building flattened and littering the street beside it.

"This was believed to be the Szechwitz Ministry of Defence (or Department, whichever you want.) We believed that since many of the commanding officials would hide in the basement bunkers of the building, we used two GBU-28 Bunker Buster Penetrator Bombs on the Eastern branches of the building, where we believed the bunkers were located."

The sergeant removes that photograph and reveals the last one. A large mansion-esque building, with a large front lawn and ornamental gardens and surrounded by walls and gates. There are three large parts of the building that are partially destroyed and the field is marred with blast craters.

"As far as intelligence told us, this was the Presidential House, home to the leader of Szechwitz. Again, believing that bunkers would be a part of its construction, the GBU-28 Bunker Buster was a large part of this strike." explained General Taylor, "As you can see, not only GBU-28 bombs hit this building, our B-52J bombers hit the entire area with standard munitions, nearly eliminating the surrounding area."

(OOC: Free Pacific States, this is supposed to explain the bombing of your embassy or consulate in Szechwitz, if that is what you were going for with your post.)

"That is all for now, we will set another press conference for when we begin our second phase of our air campaign against the Empire of Szechwitz, thank you and goodnight."

The General and the sergeant walk off and the camera returns to the reporter.

"So there you have it, the first damage done by our Republic's aircraft against a corrupt and evil despot. From Central Command in Magna Casa, Aequatio, I'm Guy Phillips."

Consul Supreme: "We have no intentions of involving ourself, militarily, with that terrible civil war. No troop deployment has been considered at this time."

Reporter B: "What moves are you taking with Dreizden? Will Eredron continue to recognize its independence?"

Consul Supreme: "Yes. Absolutely. Although we will make no troop commitment, we will not abandon Dreizden. We will help the people of Dreizden secure their freedom, and ensure their prosperity, by providing them with over two billion Marks in relief and aid."

General Roberto Narata watched the clouds outside the window in his office. It was less than a week since Szechwitz had declared war against the Republic, yet the command complex's central plaza seemed almost sleepy. It would appear that way, the general mused, but in reality the personnel of Military Command in Aurora City were the busiest they had ever been, inside the reinforced walls of the complex.
Just hours ago, Narata had placed orders for battle tanks from a foreign power, as the Tanaka-Diaz arms factories had not expanded yet to produce vehicles more powerful than 'jeeps'. (ooc: bought from Bayorta)
Agua Puro was mobilizing; slowly, but still mobilizing.
An aide walked burst into Narata's office. "Sir, the reports have just come back. At least 5% of our population are available for military duty."
"And?"
"8.15 million."
Narata thought, then responded. "Weapons are no problem, as Tanaka-Diaz produces M-16's regularly. Uniforms, helmets and the like, all taken care of by private contracts. It's heavy weaponry and vehicles which have proven to be a problem for Agua Puro."
"It's only that we have very few. But we do have the Air Corps. Do you wish them deployed?"
"No. The Air Corps will defend the country, with the exception of several transport helicopters."

"Sir, have you decided how many we will deploy?"

"10,000 infantry will be sent at first. That is all I wish to risk at this point. By the way, remind me to call Aequatio to ask for transport. The men will receive orders upon landing."

With a quick salute, the aide strode out of the room, leaving the general by himself again.

OOC

Our capital is Aurora City. Military Command is on the outskirts of the city. It is about 100 acres and no buildings taller than 3 stories. It has an extensive bunker system.

Check Credonia for our air force and Bayorta for our tanks, if you have doubts. Tanaka-Diaz is state-controlled and will soon be churning out Soviet-model tanks, but currently, its major production is M-16 rifles. Other guns are produced, but not for sale. Any nation may buy an M-16 from us at $500 USD.

Aequatio are you willing to transport our troops? Also we are interested in coordinating our forces.

Agua Puro, we would be more than willing to provide heavy lift aircraft to transport your forces to the nation of Szechwitz. We can loan you 45 C-17 Globemaster III aircraft to transport ground troops and 15 C-5B Galaxy transport aircraft to transport vehicles and heavy equipment.

We can also provide you with heavy equipment and armoured vehicles if you wish. LAV-25 Infantry Fighting Vehicles, M198 155mm Howitzer and M551 Sheridan Light Tanks will be loaned to you for operations against Szechwitz.

As our forces will be providing transportation for your forces, we can also provide air cover in the region with the 8th Carrier Group which is now outside Szechwitz sovereign waters and awaiting orders to move in to provide Close Air Support for ground troops.

Also we may receive naval reinforcements from other nations of South America. I thought I should let you know.

A bombing before hand, followed by some cover fire from fighters perhaps? Whatever you think is best, you do. All we ask is you let all our men get out of there alive. Once they have, we will be willing to join your side. Thank you for your time.

Luckily, there were not fatalities AT the embassy...though I don't want to go into the damage to the streets and people around it.

Anyway, I thank you for the support Eredron, but if possible, I'd rather have the blessing of those officially in the war. Not to mention, I want to wait to see if it's okay that I'm doing this.

If possible, I'll try to keep you from having to get involved, I don't want to risk your nuetrality, but I may need your help in the end.

TO: Der Groß of Szechwitz

Upon being informed of the current situation of Szechwitz, I have become most displeased with the foreign nations agressive military actions against your country. Our culture, language, and people are one in the same. I cannot send full military support at the moment, as I am involved in a pressing war in Smolny. To attempt to maintain the order once held by yourself and your government, I am wiring to you a monetary amount of $400,000,000 and will, with permission, air-drop into a safe zone a small force of my Elite Bodyguard Division, to personally protect you. Coordinations for the bodyguard deployment and specifics of the soldiers can be discussed privately, but rest assured, the Eliteschultzpolizeikraft are the most highly-trained, effective, versatile, and powerful soldiers of my army. All soldiers in the Eliteschultzpolizeikraft are trained for years and in every field of warfare.

TO: All involved nations

My country will not become actively involved, but any attacks on the bodyguards provided by myself will result in a reciprocal action. Please note that these bodyguards will not actively assault any forces unless first attacked. They are being sent merely as a form of protection for Der Groß and his top officials. We wish to further inform the nations involved that North Germanian forces will not, at the moment, be deployed. However, sharing a common heritage with Szechwitz, we are cautious of any foreign invasions.

Sincerly,
Reichchancellor Wilhelm Kübler Einheit III

The March on Chemnitz

About 4,000 Agua Puran infantry, previously stationed on the Szechwitz-Dreizdein border, have gathered under the command of Col. Chang Mesa and begun marching to the Szechwitz capital of Chemnitz. They are joined by M551 Sheridan tanks and followed by M198 155mm howitzers, both courtesy of the ally Aequatio. This bold move was ordered by Gen. Narata at 4 in the morning, and movement began at 5:00.

The army is currently 2 hours away from the Szechwitz border.
It will take six hours for the force to reach the suburbs of Chemnitz.

In other news, the other 30 A-10's began a bombing run of potential military targets in Chemnitz. They, too, have not returned yet.

Under the cover of both Uberkhan and another nation's fighters (I can't give out the other nation's name, they wish to remain anomonous and nuetral) the four choppers full of the staff of the Free Pacific States embassy took off and made for freindly territory. Unkown to anyone, however, Ambassador Duran and Lt. Grendal, as well as four of the marines station at the embassy, could not get onto the choppers. Not enough room with the civilian employees they were evacuating. Due to this, these 6 personel had to take one of the compounds vehicles (an SUV) and drive for it. No Szechwitz personel have yet attacked them, and they are succesfully making for the Dreizden border on a backroad (after having exited the highway).

However, your nations followed out your part, and Free Pacific States will as well. We will send a nice sized task force (2 tank divisions, 6 infantry divisions, 1 fighter divisions) to support Dreizden. However, further operations may be necesary to get the Ambassador out, should the Szechwitz attempt to apprehend/kill the 6 men, and so a Special Forces team (two choppers worth) is being sent with this task force.

OOC: Hope this helps the partially, slightly better good guys!

The first bomber group has returned to Rostock. They report no losses of aircraft, though considerable damage to several of the A-10's. A fair amount of AA fire was reported. All ordinance was dropped, leveling several city blocks. Casualties were impossible to tell, we will learn them soon.

The second group of 30 has still not returned.

Under the cover of night, retired colonel H. Joen supervised the unloading of the crates from the EA-80 transport plane, into a nearby warehouse. The unmarked crates were then opened and inspected by officers from the Dreizden military, and sent to various destinations: hidden arms depots, supply trucks; the thousands of rifles would eventually be placed in the hands of the Dreizden military and militia.

He watched a few more of the crates being pried open, some now including radio equipment, munitions, and other essential battlefield gear to help the Dreizden independence movement, before he strode back outside. The cavernous interior of the transport plane was quickly being emptied, with the aid of several cargo lifters. The unloading would finish well before dawn, he concluded. After conferring with the senior Dreizden military official present, he walked back to his car, and ordered the driver to return him to the Hotel Grand, where the Eredron diplomatic staff was currently staying.

***Breaking News***

10:14 PM

Good evening. We interrupt your program to bring you this live news report. ENIN has learned that a military aircraft has crashed while landing, killing the pilot and at least a dozen service personnel aboard the carrier. The severity of the damage to the carrier is unknown at this time.

The aircraft was returning from unspecified military action in Szechwitz airspace; it is unknown whether the crash resulted from damage inflicted during the attack, or from unrelated mechanical failure. We now go live to the Executive Manor. Peter?"

"Yes, Frank, the atmosphere here at the Manor is electrified, with police and Consul Security personnel keeping reporters a safe distance from the Manor. We have just been told the Senate has revoked Article Fourteen, wherein the Senate has the power to detain the Consul for immediate questioning."

1:15 AM

"Be it hereby known on the 15th of November, at the hour of 1 and 15, the Senate of Majorities has convened for am emergency session, as per Article Fourteen. Presiding is senior Senator Keirz. Questioning of Consul Supreme Kell in regards to covert military operations in the nation of Szechwitz, in violation of Articles Twenty-two and Twenty-three. Senator Keirz will begin the questioning."

"Consul Supreme, how do you respond to these reports that - "

"How can I respond to that which I do not have full knowledge of?" the Consul Supreme responded with a subtle hint of icy contempt.

"Very well." Senator Keirz clenched his teeth. "Did you authorize, or have prior knowledge of, the military action against the nation..Szechwitz..that bypassed the authorization required by the Senate of Majorities, as laid forth by the Eredron National Constitution?"

"I authorized no military strikes against Szechwitz."

"Did you authorize the deployment of elements of the Eredron Navy - specifically, the Nimitz-class Aircraft Carrier involved in the F-22 Raptor crash?"

"A small naval task force was deployed in international waters."

"By whose authorization?"

"The task force was on routine patrol. It was authorized by me several months ago, if I recall correctly."

"These F-22 Raptors were not on routine patrol when they entered Szechwitz airspace, an act of war for which you did not seek Senate approval. Consul, did you authorize military involvement in the Szechwitz Civil War?"

The Consul remained silent.

"Do you need the question repeated, Consul?"

"I gave the authorization."

Several hours later..

ENIN

"..voted near-unanimously to declare the Consul in violation of his duties, and force him into resignation. The immediate successor to the Consul is Senior Senator Drakes, who was out of the country during the proceedings, and currently enroute to the capital. According to the Constitution, the Senate of Majorities has executive control until Senator Drakes arrives to be sworn in."

The Senate did announce that Eredron's recognition of Dreizden has not changed."

Today is a happy day for many an Aurora City family: the troops are

coming home.

Yesterday, popular general Roberto Narata authorized the return of 4000

AP military men and women, who had been serving on the Szechwitz

border.

Cassandra Guero, the mother of Private Raul Guero, had this to say about

Agua Puro's first war ever:

"I'm just glad Raul is home, I don't know what I'd do if he was killed. I'm

just glad General Narata's over there to look out for our troops."

Narata has become increasingly popular since the onset of the war for his

excellent management of AP forces, which had not been battle-tested yet,

and his courtesy to all he meets. There is growing talk of a possible bid

for the Chancellorship.

Most Agua Purans, in a recent Oyemundos poll, are in support of the war,

even though it really does not concern our land

Finally, it is interesting to note that sales of Free Pacific States',

The Szechwitz Civil War continues to drag on into its...second month. At this point, it has been confirmed taht Szechwitz forces are no longer on the offensive, but rather on the defensive, and the Dreizden Alliance is soon expected to win the war with "minimal" loses.

In other news, Consul Supreme Kell of Eredron was forced to resign today after giving orders of military action against a nation without support of his own nations Senate. Free Pacific States' embassy to Eredron has offered Kell sanctuary should he be persecuted.

In other news, Free Pacific States' economy has been going upward at a great rate since the begining of the war. The buying of products from other Dreizden Alliance members has skyrocketed, which has also produced an increase in their economies.

Finally, Agua Puron General Narata has been the first to attempt to reach cease fire with Szechwitz, and was recently followed by the Free Pacific States. He has also withdrawn an ammounted 4000 personell from the Szechwitz war area, which proves even more that this war will soon end.

The 6 men rushed forward, diving behind a wreck of a wall. Up ahead, a group of Szechwitz Policeman (more or less military officers) were attempting to hold back FPC forces. For around ten minutes, the 6 men and the 3 Szechwitz Policeman exchanged fire, before the 3 men were killed, and 2 of the FPC men were shot.

This seemed to describe best what was happening all over the third largest city in Szechwitz. The main military garrison had been ovverun an hour ago (at heavy cost) and all that remained were the scattered policeman, and a few groups of scattered infantry. However, these men were still proving to be slightly problomatic. The fact that a Szechwitz backup force had just arrived didn't help matters either. Nonetheless, it was doubtfull the city wouldn't be taken, though loses were now being calculated to be much higher.

Secondly, I'll start a new thread either Sun. or next week on the court-martial, it will be called "The Court-Martial of Gen. Narata" or something obvious like that. You are more than welcome to join, as are any allied nations.
Thirdly, Corporal Masaki was put in as an emergency measure, you're right he is not experienced enough to run the Enclave well.
At this point in time, there are 4 Generals in the AP army. The top is Manzana, the third from top is Narata. The second (I haven't bothered to name him) is more learned in terms of military theory than Narata, but he doesn't "think outside of the box" and mostly deals with home defense. The Szechwitz Government has ceased to make offensive moves, and most of the cities liberated during the operation have joined the Dreizden Nation, which has now been recognized by the world as a free nation. FPS loses were none-existant (literally) since no Szechwitz government leaders attempted to order their troops to defend against us. What troops we did encounter simply surrendured, or just sat there and let us walk by! We have also decided to declare peace with the Szechwitz government unless they disagree. The FPS, which has just now become active in world affairs, has won it's first war, and I, as well as all of you I'm sure, am very happy about it."

OOC: Disappointing, the level of inactivity of some nations.

OOC: Sorry, I forgot to post the message that my computer connection went down, and Szechwitz/Dreizdein are clones of mine. That is the reason for our inactivity.
