Unveiling of a New Submarine

11-11-2003, 19:44
Admiral Henchen walks up to the podium, prepared for his speech as TV cameras prepare to film and broadcast.

"Welcome, everyone. We have called this conference to tell you about the new type of submarine we have begun to produce. These ships will be called the Bow Class Fleet Submarine after the first of the class, the JNS Bow.

"The day of the ballistic submarine is over. Formerly a good deterrent, they are now too vulnerable to be used. Also, the ballistic submarine's main purpose was to launch missles bearing WMD warheads. We no longer tolerate this practice, nor does the world.

"We knew that we could not give up our ships or ballistic submarines to be destroyed from below, so we developed attack submarines. However, tactical submarine engagements are extremely uncommon. The majority of these involve only two submarines.

"The submarine is best used to destroy enemy ships. As such, we have created a submarine which works well with carriers and other capital ships to produce good results.

"The Bow Class will have six torpedo tubes and a lone cruise missle launch tube. This will allow it to respond to any naval threat. The submarine need not be quiet, but it will be cold fusion powered, as are all our vehicles.

"Today we have begun a new age of naval warfare. May it end in peace. Thank you."

The Admiral walks away as the JNS Bow slides majestically into the water.
