The BLNSA (Big Long Now Space Agency) announced today that the X1-235 rocket exploded 13 seconds after takeoff, killing 7 people and destroying a $135 million satellite.
"This is a great tragedy, we are currently in the process of launching an investigation on what went wrong," says Kurt Westen, director of the BLNSA and MCSF
The X1-235 was a 75ft tall rocket designed to launch miscellanious satellites from companies into space, and was able to hold a crew of six, or go unmanned. Nobody was aboard the rocket when it exploded.
This is the 2nd launch since the MCSF (Military and Commerical Space Freighters) took place of the downsized BLNSA last month.
