Awakening of Yngir

09-11-2003, 10:22
((Yes, you read that right, C'tan. I'm going to pull a Roania and "discover" a C'tan's tomb. The Nightbringer, I think. Apropo, yes? However, my forces aren't blundering humans. They know what a C'tan is.))

The village burns in the night, the dark fire of the Fallen's weapons still cutting away at the beleaguered defenders that yet cling to vain hope. Walking shadows cut down the women and children who try to flee. The Demons that Stalk Men had returned to this hellhole.

Rath's cold Incubus helm betrays no sign of emotion or hint of thought. His elite warriors had not been needed to subdue this pathetic rabble, these nameless slaves who had only desired to live free of a mortal government.

"Sire," one of the shades hisses into his ear. If Rath is startled by its sudden appearance, the empty mask does not betray it. "These mon-keigh were worshipping when we overtook them."

"What of it?" Rath asks, his voice cold and mechanical.

"They worshipped at a temple with the earmarks of a tomb of the Necrontyr."

Irritation flicks Rath's armored fingers towards the Mandrake. "Send Talos, Warriors, and Ravagers to destroy it. If the Necrontyr have not awakened, they will die in their tomb."

OOC: Sorry about that, I've been busy tweaking my new computer over the weekend. As for the nightbringer... You're in a world of hurt if you're trying to get to him first. (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=89708) (Yes, I do have another post lined up for that thread)

As such, I propose you make it the Outsider, {the insane one with the split personalities,} oh that could be fun...

Oh, and if they're governed by immortal creatures, then there's bound to be some active humm?

((You can play the Necrons who are awake inside the tomb, if you'd like. I have an idea for containing the one within it, too. Well, if you're gonna wake the Nightbringer, I'll make mine the Outsider. I just always thought the Dark Eldar were the spiritual heirs of the Nightbringer. They're so alike, after all...))

Riding upon winds of blasphemous energy, their soul-powered engines shrieking in the night, a column of talos advance upon the tomb. Flights of raiders and ravagers wing the daemonic floating weapon-barges along, their guns scanning the withered foliage of the surrounding hills.

The tomb is not far, and the trip short. The mamoth tomb, a pyramid of dull silvery metal, lies mostly dormant. Flickers of life -- or at least animated matter -- have begun to stir deep within it, though.

The fallen have no real hope of destroying the tomb from without, as its necrodermic hull resists even their heaviest weapons. The talos take up perimeter around the building, reading to begin rending the living metal with their terrible claws, should it show signs of awakening. The vehicles linger in a broader circle around the weapon-barges and wait for any Warrior of Yngir who dares poke its unliving head from the tomb.

The warriors, though, move to penetrate the tomb, to make ready to lay waste to it from within. Care they must take, for they must not wake the ancient horror, the ancient enemy of life within.

Again the Council watched the runes and again they gathered only one fact, another of the Yngir was on the berge of waking up. Silently they cursed, what was occuring was unnatural, day by day the ancient foe was returning to them, and day by day the threat loomed ever larger.

'Hmm this seems for now contained to a Planet, Send this time however the new Asuryan's Wisdom Fleet, along with some ground forces, Mel'Nias you will command the operation personally, whatever it takes, the Lost must not be allowed to awaken the Yngir, nor will the Necrontyr be allowed to place all under this threat. Is that understood?'

'Yes Telgorthrind I will depart immediatly.'

The tomb spiders patroled the winding corridors. The insane geometeries of the outsider were infamous among those who knew of them. For now the living metal that created the insane effects was inactive. Idling. Deep within the sepulcure, the creature, or rather, creatures, slept undisturbed. The collective conciousness of the tomb sensed something. A hidden alarm somewhere had been tripped. The conciousness began to bring itself back into full life.

Below the pyramid doors to an armoured room clicked open, and a dozen metallic scarab like creatures emerged, tiny green eyes glowing malevolently in the inky darkness. They set off on invisible gravitic wings in the direction of the intruders, their mission one of identification.

OOC: Spiritual heirs? Humm... Well, now that you're stuck outside the web it would be possible for him to move in and help spread agony throughout the universe :)

((Well, the Dark Eldar are violent, hateful, and love to drink souls. Who better to serve the Nightbringer than those who do their best to emulate him, though they know it not? By the way, Tok, WH40k has been a part of NS for some time now. Tor, Ctan, and I go pretty far back in NS history.))

The warriors creep further into the tomb, their familiarity with the chaotic twists of the Web serving to aid them in the non-Eucledian labyrinth. Each fork in the path, each place where realities overlap, a team breaks off from the column to investigate.

The fallen are no less curious about the tomb than its ancient sentinels. Still, this is the home of the ancient enemy, and they are all nervous, on guard.

Slowly they proceed deeper and deeper, ignorant of the alarm or the tomb spyders. Their silent coordination speaks to the uncharacteristic unity of the Chaos eldar, the fear that lends steel to their resolve.

Sorry, all. Stupid auto-log out. Everyone, nothing to see here!

Anyway, as I said, I was not pulling anything. I had been hired to do so. And isn't Yngir even worse than the Dragon?

Anyway, This is an elaborate tag.

Not really. Now, remember, have your warpfire cannons ready, and never take the Ctan back to your colony city.

One of the scarabs crawled along the ceiling of the tomb, it's viewing eye dimmed. Strange armoured figures, their armour covered in spikes, moved about ahead of it. Their motions were graceful but controlled. It began recording. The silent guardians of the tomb, the tomb spyders, and the tomb itself would decide a course of action...

It would only be a matter of time until the teams of eldar, moving through the tomb's corridors like blood in the veins of a body, reached the sepulchers and mausoleum-chambers. They pause at the doors, waiting for a decision from the taskforce leader on whether entering the chambers would be wise.

They seem to be nervous about being stuck in a defensive position inside the very heart of an enemy's lair.

In Space the First Fleet of Asuryan entered the system, carefully they began to pick their way to the Planets Orbit, Still no plan had been formed but the Eldar knew what needed to be done, and the Aspect warriors prepared to enter Battle, with whatever was needed on the surface below, no Yngir would awaken, no matter the cost.

The intruders had been identified. They were eldar, of some perverted varity. The tomb spyders began to prepare for action, awakening necrons, a mere few dozen at the moment, but that number would increase. Meanwhile, a deep pulsing sound began to pulse through the echo...

It is not long before the Eldar force is detected. The Raiders and Talos scatter, disappearing into the young forest to make ready to aggressively defend themselves from their hated kin.

Within the tomb, the warriors stop to wait out the battle.
