2nd Annual SF War Games - UNDERWAY! (CLOSED RP)

Mission #1 - Fallen Angel

SITUATION: About fifteen minutes ago, one of the Tallcottian Air Force's F-15C Eagles was shot down over enemy-held territory on the other side of the Nogova River. It looks like a SAM got him, as no enemy aircraft were detected. His wingman reports that the pilot was able to eject and parachuted safely to the ground.

We haven't heard anything from the pilot - chances are the hills are blocking the signals from his survival radio from getting to us. Regardless, we know he's down there, and we know the place is crawling with enemy soldiers. Your job is simple - penetrate enemy territory, find the pilot, and get him the hell out of there.

TACTICAL: Attack aircraft were immediately vectored in on the SAM site and are currently in the process of turning it into rubble - so penetrating the airspace shouldn't be a problem. We've assigned an MH-60L Pave Hawk to insert you - these pilots will put you on the ground without fail. That's when things get difficult.

Since the area is under the control of enemy forces, they have, without a doubt, sent some troops looking for him. Thankfully nature is on our side, as the terrain isn't really suited for armored vehicles of any type - it's steep in many places, and so at best they might get some 4x4s out there. As all pilots are, this one was trained in Escape and Evasion, so if the enemy forces were closing in on him, he probably made a run for it. His goal is to hide until we come get him, and your goal is to somehow find him without getting caught yourselves.

Again, the most you'll be facing are straight-leg infantry, possibly with 4x4 support. To cover your insertion, we're conducting attack runs on enemy positions elsewhere in the hopes of drawing their attention from your mission.

Unfortunately we have no idea where the pilot went after he hit the ground. All we can give you is the approximate position of his ejection.

Once you find him, break contact with enemy forces and get clear of them as best you can. Then, find a suitable LZ and radio for your extraction - the Pave Hawk will be awaiting the call to pick you up and will return with gunship support in the form of a pair of AH-1G Cobras. The Pave Hawk will get everyone back across the river into friendly territory.

ORDERS: You must penetrate enemy airspace and insert as close as possible to the pilot's last known position. Find him, avoiding enemy forces if at all possible, and get him to the LZ for pickup. You are cleared "weapons free" on this mission - anything not in a friendly uniform is fair game. In the event that he has already been captured, locate him, free him, and get him to an LZ.

The mission will be complete when the following objectives are met:

1. Your team penetrates enemy airspace and inserts near the pilot's last known location.
2. Your team locates the pilot.
3. Your team and the pilot are successfully extracted from the LZ and cross the river back into friendly territory.

The mission will be a failure if:
1. The pilot is killed.
2. Your team is killed or captured.
3. The Pave Hawk is destroyed.
4. You fail to return to friendly territory.

MAP: http://www.freewebs.com/seal84/mission1map.JPG

Take note of the known enemy camps on the map. Stay away from these as they'll be hotspots of enemy activity, especially Loukov. We have spotted APCs and light armor there.

NOTES: A fairly straightforward mission. Enemy troops will be looking for him as well, so you might run into them at some point. It is suggested that you avoid contact if at all possible but if necessary, waste 'em. Keep your eyes open for discared gear such as a flight helmet or a parachute - those are telltale signs that the pilot was or is in the area.

OOC: He won't be captured, and he won't be in the same place every time. That's all the OOC info you get

Let the games begin! (Remember, there's no set order - just go for it)

Sitting in the cargo bay of the Pave Hawk, the SEALs checked their weapons for the thousandth time and made sure their camo paint was acceptable.

The chopper was skimming the treetops, jinking back and forth and up and down as it hugged the earth as best it could. Looking North, the SEALs could see columns of smoke rising from Varta - the handiwork of the Air Force attack jets.

"Thirty seconds!" the crew chief shouted.

Sure enough, roughly thirty seconds later, the pilot dropped the chopper into a hover over a small clearing.

"Ropes, ropes, ropes..."

"Away,"

The four nylon ropes thumped to the earth and the SEALs slid down the forty feet and went prone, forming a small perimeter.

"All away,"

"Drop 'em."

"Clear."

"Viper Six-Two - package is in play. Coming out."

The rapelling ropes fell away from the chopper and it climbed a few dozen feet, pirouetted on its axis, and angled its nose down, clattering away to the West and fading from view.

The SEAL team made for the nearest forest, seeing no one so far.

"Keep low, guys."

There was a lot of open ground to cover, and that made Team Leader Kyle Bauer nervous. If anyone was watching from the hills to the North, they would be able to see the team moving slowly through the waist-high grass.

About half a minute later, Travers, the pointman, held up a closed fist and sunk to a knee in the grass. The rest of the team followed suit. He slowly turned his head and put a spread-out hand to his face, then held up four fingers, and pointed forward.

Four bad guys, dead ahead.

Bauer nodded and waved the team into a rough line and they slid into position for an ambush. Sure enough, four soldiers walking in a column came into view, weapons near their hips but keeping their heads on a swivel. Bauer hoisted his SOPMOD to his shoulder and lined up the reflex sight on the head of the first man in line. It had been a bitch to add some weight to the back of the rifle to balance out the suppressor, but he'd finally gotten it right and now the weapon was a mere extension of his arms. Slowly, his gloved finger closed on the trigger, and with a muffled thump a simulated round found its way from the barrel into the head of the first soldier.

The man's MILES gear went crazy and the three others panicked, looking around and seeing nothing, but a few more suppressed weapons cut them down.

They walked over to the Marines, who had dutifully sat down in the grass. "Sorry guys," Silverman, the machinegunner, said with a grin. They just sat there looking pissed, and the SEALs moved on, quickly putting some distance between themselves and the "dead" Marines.

After another minute or two, they entered the evergreen forest South of the ejection site, moving slowly and taking cover behind the thick, wide trees when they could. Nobody here so far.

Travers stopped, waved Bauer up, and pointed. A flight helmet lay uner a bush, without a doubt hastily put there by a pilot. "Keep your eyes open, he's around here somewhere," the leader said in a low voice. The others nodded their understanding. They moved on.

"Contact left!" someone shouted, half drowned-out by the roar of Silverman's SPW. An M240 hammered back from somewhere in the woods and Bauer could only imagine that those were real 7.62 rounds smashing into the tree trunks around him. M16s chattered at them, muzzle flashes blossoming in the bushes, stabbing out at them.

"Pour it on, boys!" someone shouted from the woods - probably some hardass Marine NCO hoping his kiddies would take out a SEAL team. Not happening.

"I'm hit!"

"Man down!"

"Takin' some lead over here!"

"There!"

"Get 'em, get 'em!"

"Watch it!"

"Frag out!" WHUMP

"He's down."

"Cover!"

"F*ck!"

"Get that machine gun!"

Jake Washburn stuck his M4 out from behind a tree trunk and fired his M203 at the Marine machine gun, the weapon making a comical BOONK as it fired. These guys were pissing him off so much he wished it was a live 40mm round. Regardless, no more machinegunners.

Elliot, Fredrickson, and Benton were all down, swapped for what looked to be about 25 Marines in various stages of anger as their equipment shrieked its foul sound, telling them they were Swiss Cheese.

"Let's get the f*ck out of here," Bauer called, and they took off deeper into the woods, leaving their "dead" comrades to sit and trade insults with the Marines.

Five minutes later they ducked another group of Marines heading at full speed for the firefight. They clomped through the forest and didn't notice the SEALs' rifle barrels poking out of the brush and leaves, allowing them to pass without incident. Bauer waved the team up when they were gone and they pushed ahead.

"We're running out of forest here, chief," Silverman remarked. He was right. They could see the treeline up ahead. Where was that damn pilot?

They split North, moving back into the deeper part of the forest, hearing but not seeing more Marines moving back towards the long-since-over firefight. Too slow, guys, Bauer thought with a smirk.

Again Travers halted the team. Up ahead, there was the pilot - standing in a small clearing with his hands on his head, surrounded by about ten Marines.

"This is Whiskey Five," one of them was saying into a radio. "We've got the pilot. Let those SEALs know we won."

"No ya didn't jerknut," Travers said loudly, and sprayed a long burst from his M4 into the idle Marines, accompanied quickly by a SAW and half a dozer other assault weapons.

The pilot dove to the ground and the Marines just stood there, unable to move fast enough to get out of the way of the hail of simulated lead. Within seconds, all of them were down, having fired only a few shots in return, to no effect.

Grabbing the pilot, they took off for the edge of the forest at a jog, weapons shouldered and sweeping the air in front of them. "Viper Six-Two, this is King Six. We've secured the package and are coming out." The coordinates were relayed.

"Roger that King Six, we're inbound, ETA four minutes."

"Understood Six-Two, we'll be waiting. We may have company at the LZ so tell those Cobras to light up anything they see."

"Copy, wilco. Out."

They waited just inside the treeline for the chopper to come, but sure enough a trio of armed Humvees came rumbling across the plain, loaded to the gills with Marines. Avila, the sniper, lined up his SR-25 on the gunner of the first Humvee who was standing behind the .50 cal. Avila, on his stomach, settled the crosshairs and squeezed the trigger. With the suppressor fitted, the rifle didn't make much noise, and the gunner for a moment didn't know what was going on. Moore steadied his Predator SRAW on the second Humvee and let the unguided rocket fly with a whoosh. Nothing actually fired, but the laser beam lit up the truck and toasted it, killing all the occupants.

The first and third Humvees slid to a halt and Marines piled out, the gunner on the third truck spraying fire at the forest with his M240.

"Goddamn!" Silverman shouted as he let fly with the SPW, cutting down a few Marines before the rest of them smartly hit the dirt and vanished from sight. Avila silenced the remaining machinegunner with another round from his rifle.

Silence.

An M16 popped from a few dozen yards away, dropping Moore where he stood. Bauer tossed a minigrenade at the assailant and was rewarded with a groan and a MILES screech. Not a moment too late, the dull thumping of a pair of Cobras and the Pave Hawk faded in, growing progressively louder. Bauer tossed a red smoke grenade out and they hunkered down as the Marines, seeing exactly what was about to happen, scattered like confetti. The Cobras cut loose with their 20mm cannons, chasing the Marines away long enough for the Pave Hawk to settle into the grass, miniguns ablaze. The SEALs charged it, shoving the pilot aboard and piling in after him. They were smashed into the floor as the chopper leapt into the air and sprang forward, headed for the river.

Hearts stopped pounding and they started high-fiving each other as the river came into view and they crossed over it.

Mission Complete.

The Daistallian team puts together a quick head shed. The following questions come up:
What is the time of day? If nighttime, what is the light condition? What is the weather? And most important, What is the map scale? I assume 1km sq. grid...

Damn, forgot about that.

Grids are 1 square km, weather is good, time is mid-afternoon.

OOC: I found the following socument very helpful: http://216.239.53.104/search?q=cache:7ZSau4L8i2IJ:www.army.mil/usapa/epubs/pdf/r525_90.pdf+SAR+CSAR+combat&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

OOC: I assuming the warning order and attatched info contains the pilots Evasion Plan of Action, designated SAFEs, unit authentication numbers or codes, etc. If you disagree with any
that or what is assumed below, let me know and I will cancel it. I am also assuming this will essentially be an unescorted penetration without benifit of a SARTF, but with some sort of limited RESCORT or RESCAP...

IC: The breifing and planning session were hasty. The team reviewed all the relevant information: the pilots EPA , the locations of the SAFEs in the area, authenication codes, etc. Hill 332 was the Select Area for Evasion, or SAFE, according to the pilots EPA. The plans were quickly confirmed and reviewed. Locations for the RVs, RPs, LUPs, and LZs had benn decided. Weapoins and gear had been checked. Oli said *Ok, boys anything we forgot?*
A few odds and ends were covered, then the headed for the PAVE Hawk.

------------------------

The helo NAPped accross the river behind the cover of the hills (entering the map at grid square G2), flying low and fast, and taking evasive action. 2 false insertions were made
while tac-air was hitting the SAM sight and Varta.

The team made their final preparations.
The crew cheif tapped Gi-gi, flashing 3 fingers, giving a 3 minute to the LZ. Gi-gi, One, Boom-boom, and Zap, the designated security element stood. The helo skimmined dowm to the 1st LZ the edge of the edge of the copse (H2/3). Seconds later, the 4 man security team was on the ground with their equipment. One, the last man of the security element off the ramp, made a quick swwep of the remaining gear, making sure none of the security elemnts gear was left behind.
The 4 men moved to cover, dropped prone, and waited several minutes to ensure local security and that the LZ was safe, the team quickly established temselves. One observed the valley below. Gi-gi quickly assembled his AMR-21 and joined in the overwatch of the valley. Boom-boom positioned the 50mm mortar. Zap began sweeping the area indicated by the pilots EPA to the SAFe with his man-portable RDF.
( http://www.landfallnavigation.com/sav21.html for those who would dispute it...)

The helo continued on it*s way, making 2 more false insertions before reaching the search teams LZ in the valley between hills 332 and 309, along the pilots indicated evasion route to the SAFE. The 6 men of the search team jumped off the back ramp, a the helo hovered at 4 feet. Fingers made a quick sweep of the interior before off loading. no gear had been left behind.

The helo continued on, making several more false insertions.

The search team went to ground in the high grass. They waited, listening and watching for any sign they had been observed. After several minutes it was clear they had not been spotted. They began to make a slow and stealthy tactical patrol up the hill to the SAFE. Ox had point and Bubbles sweep.

After 15 minutes, One beeped the teams earpiece radio, the signal for an incoming text message on the cell net. Zap had the coordinates of the pilots TACBE radio beacon and had texted them. *Great!* Thought Oli. *He made it to the SAFE. This should be a walk in the park...*

After 15 minutes and 300 m of quiet stealthy patrolling.later, two beeps were heard, indicating that enemy forces had been spotted making their way to the eject point. *So much for the walk in the park...* Oli thought. The team went to ground, hoping they had not been spotted.

After another 20 minutes, a second texted message from the security team arrived. *OPFOR in cpn str headd twds SAFE w/Dgs. Wil engage. *

*Damn. He must have left a trail! Idiot fighter jocks! Ougth to pay better attention in SERE class.* Thought Oli. The other members of the team had similar ideas as they struggled into their protective masks.

Seconds later, the whoomp of the light mortar was heard several times in quick succession, followed by the low, gutteral crack of the AMR-21 anti-material rifle Gi-gi favored. One quickly joined in with his lighter, but still very effective marksmans rifle. While Zap served as spotter for Gi-gi. The two snipers took slow deliberate care with each shot.
Boom-boom stopped the barrage and started spotting for One.
The mixture of smoke, HE simulators, and CS gas took the OPFOR company by surprise. They knew the Jaegerkommando team was in the area, and had been told to expect surprises, but weren*t ready for the CS gas. Several casualties, including the platoon sergeant, radioman, and 2 squad leaders were down before they were able to effectively return fire. Both search dogs had been rendered ineffective from the gas.

While the OPFOR company took their licks, the search team quickly made it the rest of the way the edge of the forested area atop hill 332. Bubbles, Al, and Ox set up a hasty peremiter defense on the edge of the wooded area and opened up a cross fire with their rifles and GLs. Oli, Doc, and Fingers began a quick search of the area for the pilot.

*Hurry it up guys, we*re starting to get some heat over here*
*Can*t find him! Where*d he go?*
*Blood trail! I have a blood trail here!*

The OPFOR company was begining to move uphill towards the search teams position.

*Got him!* Shouted Doc.
The pilot lay hidden under a bush. He was unconsious. Doc and Fingers, as the team medics began their work to stabilize the pilot.

*They*re getting close guys!*

Oli texted the exfil helos *LZ X-Ray - 5 minutes. * followed by the location of the enemy platoon.

*Ok guys lets move it out!*

Doc and Fingers lifted the pilot on to the now unfolded litter. They hauled the litter to the extraction LZ on the northeast side of the wooded area.

The security element and the search team peremiter element continued pouring fire on to the OPFOR company. Bubbles MILES gear beeped like crazy. *Crap! I*m out guys.*

Oli vectored the gunships onto the OPFOR company. While they made their run, the peremiter defense withdrew to the LZ.
The evac helo flew up to LZ X-Ray, hovered at 50 feet. As the pilot was winched aboard, a set of STABO ropes were kicked out the side doors. The search team scrambled in to the rigs and the helo took off. 2 minutes (and a wild ride) later, the helo hit a second safe LZ where the search team was recovered into the helo.

Meanwhile, Boom-boom began his second smoke and HE barrage, designed to cover the
extraction helo, then the team began packing up. As the gunships began their second pass, the team scrambled to the LZ 50 meters away.

The helo dropped towards the LZ. Again at 50 feet the STABO ropes wento out. The
security team clipped in, and the helo took off. 30 seconds latter, a stray burst of fire took Zap. His MILES gear beeping, he began cursing.

A few minutes later, the helo hit another safe LZ, recovered the men on the STABO rig, and began their exfiltration back accross the river.

Mission Complete.

Tallcottia SF WARGAME: Mission 1 Report

OOC: 1km grids make it a bit small, but I won’t complain! (I’d tell the pilot to find his own way back over 3km). By "good" weather I’m taking it that you mean good for tactics, so some cloud cover to keep the light fairly low but not so much that helicopters can’t operate.

TEAM: Full Sayeret Shaldag squad (6 men, 2 fire teams).
IC:

The quick briefing and review of the situation at the joint base camp and the team is ready for the mission.

The Pavehawk rises from the base’s pads and sets off for the enemy territory, skirting the tree-tops as it approaches the enemy zones from the north, towards the hills just north of the enemy camps. The door-gunners watch for possible enemy activity below but see none.

Soon, the helicopter has reached the river, which it skims over. The pilot eases the helicopter down on a shallow slope behind a patch of woods (Grid G-3, lower left quadrant). The CSAR team jumps clear of the helicopter as it skims the grass behind the trees, each man falling immediately to a prone position on the ground as he lands, establishing their fire-teams and perimeter. The men scan the edge of the forest, the nearby hillside, and the plane below, where smoke from the destroyed SAM site can be clearly seen, and wait for the helicopter to clear the area.

The Pavehawk lifts slightly, kicking up some dust and grit as it rises again to a dozen feet off of the ground before making a quarter-turn and moving towards the southern sector of the stand of trees and the flood plain to make a false insertions.

Once the helicopter is clear, Major Gal signals Tov to proceed with the mission. One by one, the men leap-frog forward to the grove of trees, each rising up from the dirt and bushes in his camo suit and searching the clearing for OPFOR as he advances. The men are quickly in the safety of the trees.

Kneeling in the undergrowth of the forest, the men spot a four-man marine patrol as it approaches and then passes by not 10m to the south. The team lets them pass to give the other soldiers the initial impression that they were approaching the team instead of walking away from it.

The men of Sayeret Shaldag 2-1-1 watch and count off the distance, 10, 15, 20m past the mark.

As he counts off the distances, Shem raises his SR-99 SWS and takes aim at one of the men’s back. A soft tap on his shoulder lets him know that Abram and Gal also have their marks in sight. He counts to three as he smoothly pulls the trigger on his silenced rifle. As he thinks three his rifle fires, a kick goes into his shoulder as the weapon gives off a soft *whump* he hears the sound of his teammates’ Tavor and M4 at the same time. The Marines never even hear the sound as their MILES gear all seems to go crazy at once. The shocked ‘dead men’ look all around them but they can’t see the LRRP team that is now over 20 meters behind them. The OPFOR Marines sit down and the LRRP team makes its way northeast through the woods, approaching open terrain.

They can see some movement back where they’d just been as other marines run towards the sound of beeping MILES units. The Major considers having Eyal drop a 76mm MILES practice cartridge back by the ‘dead’ marines but thinks the better of it as he thinks of the open hillside the team will be covering soon.

The men continue to leap-frog forward, first one fire team, then the next. Within a few minutes they’ve made it to the edge of the woods and they can see the entirety of Varta about half a klik away. The men use the benefit of the low light and the scattered brush on the hill-side to move as they see the guards looking elsewhere. It takes the men 15 minutes to travel the 250m. For effect, Shem fires on a pair of OPFOR guards standing just to the south of camp, his silenced rifle providing the cover as the two men’s units go wild…drawing the guards to the North of the camp away as the 2-1-1 moved into another patch of woods (Grid H-3: left, middle third up).

2nd Lieutenant Ron took out a small radio and clicked a switch, sending out a coded burst transmission to alert the Pavehawk and Cobras that they’d be needed soon. The men were just about to move forward when they were confronted by a man in a fighter pilot’s jump suit came running towards their position from behind some bushes—the pilot!

Unfortunately, he’d brought some less-than-friends along as well. Shem tackled the man to the ground and pushed him behind a tree and some bushes as Ron opened up with his machine gun—no silencing the monster. The echoes of the machine gun filled the air as the OPFOR team pursuing the pilot was greeted with a cacophony of beeping MILES units. The fire also brought the attention of the men at Camp Varta and other marines at the nearby crash site, and the team knew that they’d be coming.

Shem broke the radio silence with a call to the Cobras, "We’re taking fire from hostiles. Requesting immediate evac at Grid coordinates Hector-mark-zero-two by 3-mark-six-zero. We need fire support ASAP."

Shem cut off and turned to the pilot, handing him his CTAR-21. "Try to make them go away, since you decided to bring them along" he said, as he dashed to the edge of the woods with his SR-99, taking up a position on the westward side, with him came Eyal and Abram. Shem began to fire on the OPFOR men with his rifle as they tried to run up-hill towards the team and he was joined by Abram’s M4. Eyal stood against a tree, partly obscured, and fired off the HIWS on a flat trajectory, the only HIWS action that worked with the MILES system. They saw several of the men alerted by blinking lights and beeps.

The other men in the group focus on the marine platoon that is now bearing down on them. Ron’s Negev is able to take out several of the men, mostly those who don’t get behind cover fast enough. Maj. Gal and Capt. Tov fire their M203 grenade launchers at the men and watch as the IR rounds flash, taking out a small group of men around each round before switching over to their Tavors, taking out three more of the marines.

The marines bring up their own grenade launchers, however, and fire a round towards the LRRP team. "Incoming!" Tov shouts as he hears the distinctive sound of the launcher. His cry sends Gal and Ron to the ground to join Tov, but Ron is too close as the round lands—his MILES system goes wild. "Damn sim sensor system, the POS picks up a hit that I would’ve been safe from in the real thing…" he thinks to himself as he waits for the end of the chaos, laying on the ground.

Over the sounds of the firefight, a building hum is heard as the Cobras make their appearance. Rushing in low and fast, the 20mm cannons clear out the Marines rushing up the hillside and running along the ridge near the team and simulated rockets indicate that some vehicles down at the camp are destroyed as the attack helicopters loop about.

Behind them comes the Pavehawk. The bird sets down on the hillside and the doors are thrown open to the LRRP team.

Shem rushes back to grab the Pilot as Eyal and Abram rush into the helicopter, covered by the Pavehawk’s door gunner. The Major and Captain continue to back up, leap-frogging under each-other’s cover and dragging Ron’s ‘remains’ back to the P-hawk.

Shem joins them and covers them as they make their way across a short clearing and into the waiting transport.

The Cobras overhead keep the OPFOR marines from getting too close, firing randomly now into the stand of trees while the Pavehawk slips out and begins to move westward to friendly lines.

The Pilot pushes his Pavehawk up and over the hill as the Cobras fly after it. The men taunt Ron on the way back, making comments about the "importance of keeping your ass down" under fire. He takes it in fairly good cheer, however, and replies by setting off their MILES vests after they’ve all landed with a long burst of blanks from his gun.

Smoke appeared down below the Grey Pave Hawk helicopter as it flew low over a former SAM site. The 10 men sitting in the back looked relaxed but ready. No one said a word, each man wore a balaclava and had a jolly roger stencilled onto the left shoulders of their black combat vests. The men were in various stages of checking their weapons.

The crew chief called out "Thrity Seconds" and the men got into s semi-huddle from what the cargo bay could provide space wise. The Lt. began "Ok men, you all heard the briefing, we'll be landing 100 metres north of the flyboys ejection area. By my reckoning he probably headed North into this forest." He jabbed a gloved finger at a forest that was about half a click north of the ejec point and so just about 400metres from the little 'dell' they were landing in.

The grey helicopter slowed up slightly and flared up about 30 ft of the deck. The heli came in fast and landed with a thud. The crew chief didn't even have time to shout 'go' as the men were already bailing of the helicopter. The Drop off took less than 20 seconds and the heli roared off leaving the men to listen to the sound of nature. The wind ran down the side of the small dip in the ground, buffeting them as they walked their patrol.

They were not strictly out in the open, there was many trees dotted about and muddy dips and berms that used to partition walls for fields presumably. Their point man came up on what looked like an overhang that dropped down to a lower area, and the forest beyond that. Lighteningly fast he dropped to his stomach and the rest did the same. He motioned that there were men directly below the small overhang. He turned his head back in the direction of the overhang and motioned back for the rest of the team to stay put. They couldn't afford to move or talk at this point.

The point man slowly, methodically shuffled forwards towards the end of the overhang. When he got there he hoisted his gun up to be infront of his head and continued forward. The Lt. shot a look at the rest of the men, not knowing their emotions because of the balaclava's. The point man made it right up to the top of the overhang and then did the unbeleviable. He dropped his torso over the hang and emptied a clip in under the overhang. The sound of miles gear starting up filled the air. The rest of the team were already up and running to see if their man had been hit. Instead he sat up onto his haunches and laughed to himself. "They didn't even see it coming sir, you shuda seen the look on their faces when i dropped down, priceless, just priceless."
"Ok Sergeant cut the baffle and tit, f**king tell me what your're up to next time, but nevertheless good plan, now lets crack on and get the cockpit jockey."

The team left the angry marines behind them, still lying or sitting under the 'safety' of the overhang. The forest they were headed to was directly down from the field that the overhang led into. The Lt. stopped about 50 yards from the forest and took out a pair of bino's. He scanned the treeline and found a small, half concealed into the ground, firing pit with two men in it. "Sniper up, " he called. One of the two snipers appeared to his side a few seconds later. "Look 75 yards from the left side of the treeline, the firing pit, pick a target and get on with it." They both nodded aftern having confirmed the firing pit through their rifle scopes. One sniper had a M4 with an Aimpoint sight and a silencer with a customised butt plate to include a weighted cheekpiece and a small extension from the end of the butt. The other sniper had a silence G3SG1. Both picked a target and fired. They checked for minute longer that no-one else had been alerted and then carried on into the forest behind the point man.

Suddenly and in mid step the point man halted. The Lt. ran up to him and found out there was a trip wire under his foot. He turned to the rest of the team and told them to form a defensive perimeter. The he bent down and looked at the situation. The wire was slightly caught under the front of the point man's boot. The Lt. told him to slowly move his foot up while the lt made sure the wire didn't twang back or go taught. They bypassed the booby trap and were making good time when they came across an oxygen mask that had been dumped at the foot of a tree. They picked up some footprints and headed in their direction. The footprints ended at a watery ditch but the only logical way was straight ahead as the sides were almost impassable bush.

They were coming up on a small berm in the middle of the forest when fire erupted all around them. One Miles then two sounded in the intense barrage as the team fluidly hit the ground. The teams big M60 roared to life, firing to the left while the Lt and the now two riflemen fired to the right. The teams medic had been hit as he was in the middle of the teams small column. The fire began to ebb for a bit and it seemed s if the M60 was doing a good job. There was a sudden THWONK as a 203 was fired, luckily by one of the teams riflemen. The 60 gunner tried to stand but was made to go to ground my a volley of bullets. A second 203 grenade was fired and then another, one to the left and right and the firing stopped apart froma few more rounds from the 60. The Team looked around at each other, saw the dejected head-hanging coming from the medic and rifleman who lay almost side by side. The Lt. got up as the rest followed suit. They took a look at their respective sides where they had been firing. It looked like they had walked into a column of Marines that had been waiting near the berm. The point man quickly took off followed by the rest of the team. The ran down an incline through the forest and stopped, they were looking down on a clearing in the forest and there was the pilot...

...sitting on a fallen tree trunk with a gun to his head. There were two other men in the clearin: A radio man and what seemed to be an officer shouting into the handset-"Bravo-1-2, come in damm it, what the fu*k happend, was there an ambush, what is your situation over."
"They're all dead" came the reply, not from the radio but from the Lt. The officer turned to where he thought the sound had come from. "Who the hell said that, identify yourself."
"Fair enough" came the reply, as the now 8 men of the team rushed from two sides of the clearing, encircling the pilot and his captors.
"Place your weapons on the deck."
"What is this pre-school, shot the damm pil-" the officer was cut off as one of the teams snipers shot the marine with the pistol as the pilot darted out of the way. The Lt looked at the officer who was no just pissed off. "So what the hell are you guna do with us then son?"
"This," replied the Lt as he drew a colt 1911 and shot the Officer in the chest and then shot the radio operator who saw what was going to happen. The miles gear went off and the officer was about to say something when the 60 gunner anounced "Dead men don't talk" in a deep growl. The officer just sat down like a scolded child.

The team picked up the pilot and were now running fast through the forest to their Pick up point as the Lt shouted into the radio "This is Victo-1-1 the package has been picked up and we are ready to deliver."
"Victor, this is Reaper 1-0 all recieved and inbound, over"
"Roger than Reaper, tell those cobra's to get on station, we could have some comapny here, over and out."
They came to the edge of the treeline, where the was some very thick underbrush. They knelt down as the Lt. peered into the clearing with his bino's. The heli was to come in just in front of the treeline. The Lt. picked up a 4x4 parked on a small dirt road just down from where the heli would come in. It had a 50.cal on it and the gunner was in position and the driver and another man were consulting a map on the bonnet.
"Get the Law laucnher up," whispered the Lt. The M60 gunner came shuffling up beside the Lt. "Yeah boss, want me to shoot this baby up the tailpipe?"
"Yeah, the icing on the cake but wait till we can hear the heli's."

Sure enough about 5 minutes later the rotors could be heard in the distance and the crew of the jeep hurriedly crumpled up the map and began to get into the jeep as a THUUUNCHK came from the treeline. All three mens Miles gear kicked to life, droning in their ears. They had no clue where the 'rocket' had come from.
They waited and watched furstratedly as the MH-60 roared into the clearing just in front of them and then they saw where the rocket had come from as the 8 man team bomb-bursted out of the treeline and jumped aboard the heli after they had thrown in the pilot. The Lt. waved at them as the heli roared into the sky.

Colonel Williams split the team into 2 elements during the Helicopter ride to the LZ. Charlie would look for the pilot in a classic grid search pattern, radiating from the Ejection. Delta would take the high ground (marked as 309 on the map) and upon securing that wait for the pilot and Charlie team, the extract from the LZ they plan to make (with the use of HE).

Charlie where dropped off 1st and quickly found the parachute which was semi-covered by pulled up foliage. The tracker in the party Lieutenant Harris quickly found the pilots tracks and Charlie team followed them.

Delta quickly fanned out from their LZ in search of defensive positions, 2 out of the 5 men dug fox holes in a hedge overlooking the enemy base at Loukov, while the rest rigged a relatively clear area with explosive charges, ready to blow moments before the helicopter would land.

The tracks Charlie team had followed brought the team to a dirt road, which seemed to have been well used by the enemy force, the pilots tracks merged with those of the enemy. The Colonel quickly spilt the team in 2 and both moved off quickly in different directions, this was done without a word be said.

About 15min later the Colonels team find tracks leading off the road, following them for another 5min they find the pilot hidden under a tree. The Colonel motioned for the pilot to get up, "Hi" whispered the pilot. The colonel looked at him and moved his finger to his mouth, turned around the motioned the pilot to follow him, the 2 other operatives took up position behind the pilot and the group headed off to the LZ delta had secured.

The 2nd half of Charlie (2 men) found a 4x4 with 6 enemy soldiers stood around it, the commander of the element, Sub Lieutenant Haddie checked his watch and then motioned his men to make their weapons ready. He backed up about 20 paces and fingered the talk switch on his radio. "Pre-Contact, 6 Tango, 2km from LZ"

The Colonel stopped, looked around and then fingered his talk switch, "Pilot is India Charlie, you are clear to Romeo Alpha Romeo". He then motioned to the 2 operatives bringing up the rear the speed up, then carried on walking the now small distance to deltas position.

Haddie silently walked forward back to where Colour Sergeant Bean was located, tapping him on the shoulder and making a fist with his hand he pointed at the 6 enemy soldiers. Bean smiled and took aim, Haddie did the same. Almost at the same time they let a burst go from their rifles, downing 3 enemy soldiers. The remaining 3 when prone and fire wildly, Bean switched to single shot quickly and picked off another. The 2 remaining saw the flash and let a burst go at Bean, whose MILES gear bleeped signalling that he was wounded. Haddie looked around to see what the bleeping was, seeing that Bean had been "hit" he put 5 rounds into his chest, and used what was left of the magazine to finish off the 2 remaining enemy soldiers. Giving bean a swift kick as he got up he whispered "You won't do that again will you lad?" then quickly disappeared into the trees leaving Bean on his back.

Colonel Williams team linked up with Delta soon after the firing started, 3 men from Delta quickly formed an all round defence around the pilot as the colonel moved to the 2 fox holes over looking the enemy base. He looked down seeing what looked like a light tank and a group of men, they where some distance away but getting ready to move. He tapped Lieutenant James, one of the men in the foxholes and motioned that he should blow the charges on the trees to clear an LZ for the helicopter. He then moved to the team radioman and motioned for him to call in the exac.

The Helicopter few low over Haddies head as he ran the 2km distance to delta position. He figured that the enemy would have had a quick reaction force at the "ambushed" position now and would probably be following him. He fingered his radio again and shouted "Lost Charles 2, all tangos down, coming in hot."

Colonel Williams fingered his radio quickly after the message had been received; several trees being blown up by James punctuated his reply. "Roger that, you’re too late for evac, Echo Echo to blue line". The Helicopter landed shortly after the message and the pilot and delta where almost throw onto it, the Colonel then jumped on his self and moved over to the pilot. "I want you to take off and do a pass over the river." The pilot nodded and the colonel moved to a seat.

Haddie stopped about 1km from the river, went prone and fingered his radio; "I see 12 tangos, no way around them, moving in line towards me."
He flicked off his safety catch while waiting for a reply.

The Colonel waited a few seconds before quickly mouthing to the pilot to return to base. "Roger that Charles 2, you've done a good job boy, do what you thinks best." He then flicked off his radio and shouted over the noise of the radio. "Delta you did good! Charlie, not so good, Haddie got 1st round when we get back!"

Haddie smiled to himself before flicking the rifle to full auto empting 2 magazines at the line of soldiers in front of him; he took down 6 before a laser set of his MILES gear.

Enjoy...

“You know how it goes… in and out, minimal contact and find that pilot. Good luck and keep your heads down.” Scarecrow said calmly and firmly. “Eyes wide, ears open and trigger fingers twitching.” A smirk furled under his camo-painted face.

“ETA two minutes!” The pilot mechanically said over the intercom.

For the thousandth time, the five members of the team checked and double checked their weapons and equipment, each smeared a little more green paint onto their faces. Guns ready and primed, scopes zeroed, radios on and tuned and ghuille camouflage suits in perfect arrangement.

And then they were on the ground; one kilometre from the river and seven hundred from the nearest Marine base; Varta. The team was directly under the downed F-15 plane path.

The rappel ropes were long gone, as had the Black Hawk helicopter. Marching cautiously until they were only six hundred meters from the last known position of the pilot.

A hill dead ahead, the team hit the ground in a wide arc, their weapons aimed at the summit, one gullie suited figure approached the obstacle.

Staying low to the ground, Wolf edged towards the lip of the hill, his PSG-1 sniper rifle broke the summit first, soon followed by the scout-snipers head. Through the scope he could see everything; including three of the enemy.

Edging the crosshairs over the first marines head, his finger crept towards the trigger. BAM, moving his scope quickly he quickly shot again and again. With screeching MILES systems, each marine let of a chorus of “f*cks” as they slumped to the ground. But Wolf saw one of them; one marine, the third to hit the dirt, his gaze stretched expectedly towards the small mass of tree’s 50 meters at twelve o’clock.

“Thank you, Shit for Brains.” He said with a content smirk while signalling his team forward, yet keeping his eyes on the forest.

After planning out an approach to the woods, the team moved quickly north of the dense wood, their asses to the grass they crawled cautiously, yet swiftly. Time was of the essence.

The team were fifteen meters from the forest. A lone marine hid behind a tree, his Hog was lightly camouflaged and invisible to the untrained eye. Bambi slowly but surely edged her head above the wavy grass, her ghuille suit blending into the surroundings like a chameleon. She had spotted the gunner almost instantly, but not before he had spotted her. How the hell!? With a hellish roar the marines hog unleashed “shell” after “shell” upon the soldier. Followed immediately by a screeching MILES, but not Bambi’s. Shepard, eight meters away with his WA2000 sniper rifle unloaded into the marine, his expression was dumb founded as he realised he was dead.

But he had warned his comrades. Surging through the forest, like bats out of hell, the marines lay massive amounts of fire into the waist high grassland.

But JOUST had long moved positions and swung around to the right of forest, circling behind the maniacal shooters. Bambi, Scarecrow and Ranger laid waist to the oblivious marines, who were slowly but surely edging towards JOUST’s previous position. While Shepard and Wolf quickly reconned the surrounding forest. A chorus of bleeps filled the air; as did a choir of pissed off grunts. Twelve of the enemy lay on the ground, done and dusted.

BLAM! A small explosion filled the air, reverberating throughout the forest, immediately followed by the bleeping of MILES gear. Suddenly, exploding through the bushes came Wolf, like an antelope he ran and jumped wildly through the foliage. “RUUUUN! HUMVEE’S!”

Scarecrow’s heart sank, “F*ck!” Followed by a staccato of more ferocious .50 cal machine gun fire.

Ranger hid behind a thick tree, his M60 balanced precariously in his hands. Staying low and tight against the tree, a bush beside him give him good cover. Scarecrow, Bambi and Wolf sprinted for cover, hiding, covering and firing where ever possible.

With almost thunderous rumbles, the vehicles came into view. The first humvee purred into position, the gunner swivelled up top, looking for targets. He never saw his killer, but his MILES assured his fate. Stars of fire blossomed in the gloomy forest, tearing into the tan car, its own MILES system screeched. In life, it would have been destroyed.

Suddenly, the second humvee came into view and let out a fury of shots, accompanied by the yelling of several men. “Shit!” Spat Ranger, spinning on his heels. Only to come face to face with a barrel. “Shit!” Spat Ranger!

“Down boy.” Sneered a marine, before jerking the trigger. Ranger calmly sat down, his MILES going berserk.

“Motherf*cker.”

Bambi, Scarecrow and Wolf charged through the field. Massive amounts of gunfire erupted from a good hundred meters behind them. Wolf swung round, his rifle shouldered and BLAM, BLAM, BLAM! Two more fell, the third missing seemingly by inches… Scarecrow and Bambi joined Wolf, covering him while he fell back.

The humvee high tailed it towards the trio, its .50 cal whirring round after round towards the zig-zagging soldiers.

Scarecrow spun round once again, his M4 slamming bullet after bullet towards the speeding humvee… the gunner was down, and finally the driver hit too, his MILES whirred to life. The humvee was down.

Suddenly, the trio dropped to the ground. And there they lay, guns poised, yet totally still.

Within seconds, the enemy was upon them, literally. Only feet away from Bambi’s face was the enemies foot. She held her breath tightly, her lips quivering. Not from fear but from pure, unadulterated adrenaline.

“Where the hell did they go? Dammit!”

“Search for them now… wide angle, but don’t stray too far from the pilots position…”

And then, then they went on with their search past the three special operators. Slowly and ever so carefully each member crawled as fast as they could into the forest. Sticking close to the dense foliage, they edged deeper into the heart of the beast. The pilot had to be here somewhere…

And there he was. Lying on his belly and hands on his head. Surrounding him were seven men, each covering their firing arcs. Does it get any harder!?

Wolf fired the first shot and the second and the third. Three kills. His single shots were soon joined by automatic fire as 3 more fell to the MILES. The fourth put his hands in the air as an M-4 barrel was shoved into his forehead. Bambi shot him in the chest while Scarecrow secured the area and the pilot.

Two hundred meters from the forest, the searching marines heard the gunfire and instantly sprinted for the forest, twelve in total. But gun fire reigned down from the forest, two sniper weapons were now in work, as Scarecrow acquired Shepard’s WA2000. By fifty meters twelve had become six and by ten meters the final man was put down.

“We need immediate evac. We have the pilot, but expect the LZ point to be hot!”

“Roger that, ETA seven minutes, I repeat, ETA seven minutes!”

Within minutes the LZ was indeed hot, massive amounts of sputtering gunfire sparkled throughout the field. Many men fell, MILES blurring. The JOUST team had resorted to sporadic fire, ammo was low and the odd grenade was tossed as to hold up an advance.

The enemy were the first to hear it; a dull whumping noise in the distance, a black craft sailed gracefully into view.

”FIRE!” Chanted a severely pissed off Marine Lieutenant.

However, Goliath was ready, man handling the massive gatling gun, it whirled to life and rained fire upon the marines, destroying everyone and everything in its way.

Soon, all that filled the air was the blaring MILES. Soon the surviving operators charged towards the chopper, pilot in tow. The mission was over, the game was done. But just about.

The MH-60 prowled low over the clouds coming from the North East, and trying to stay over the trees where they might be less visible. Special Assault Team 7 was ready to fast rope from the bird if they had to but jumping off onto the ground would be easier if there had been room. Luckily there was and the pilot called back that they were going to put down. Five seconds later the eight men jumped out into the long grass and then spirinted Southwards first through a patch of forest then downhill to where the ejection position was.

Seregant Yitzhak and abandoned his normal CQB shotgun and gone with the Tavor along with the other rifleman, now in point position he had an excellent view of the surrounding area and to his amazement he saw the pilot still tangled in his parachute in the trees.

"Gunny, cover me!" The sergant then ran across to the trees fifty or sixty yards away and several minutes later he returned with the pilot who seemed barely injured.

"This is Uniform Echo 7, precious cargo retrieved, request evac, over."

Once confirmation had been confirmed the men ran back hrough an area of forest to where the Pave Hawk was going to land. All had gone extremely smoothly. Then Sergeant Ezzra heard the sound of an APC approaching from the East. "Quickly, armour inbound one hundred yards!"

The men went prone in a matter of seconds and Sergeant Ezzra the team sniper and AT specialist grabbed the Predator disposable tube and aimed in the direction of the vehicle, he couldnt identify although it looked like an 8x8 LAV-25. He sighted the weapon then fired a training round straight forward and if it had been real the APC would have been charred remains.

The other men from SAT 7 then started firing suppresing fire at a column of infantry and then there was a bleep as Sergeant Ibrahim's MILES told him he was dead. However the Pave Hawk was approaching fast and within seconds casings ejected from the minguns rained down on them as it descended into the clearing.

However when it was only fifty feet from the ground the team watched in horror as an unidentifable RPG streaked overhead and would og hit the chopper'd tail rotor. The Gunny then stopped firing knowing the mnission was failed and yelled, "Im sh*t glad that was fake!"

Nope, nobody has to fail....though sometimes writing a failed mission is more fun...I did it in the last games.

Looks like we're still waiting on a few guys. I'm going to start doing up the next mission in about an hour and will have the after-action review of all who participated today posted around midnight EST.
11-11-2003, 06:28
too tired to post after-action review....this space reserved to do it tomorrow morning around 9 or 10 EST.

Mission #2 - Grab N' Go

CONDITIONS: 2345 hours, partly cloudy, no precipitation

SITUATION: Good morning (rub the sleep out of your eyes, it will be morning when you're on the ground soldier!). Today we have a special mission for you.

As you're aware, the enemy has been making gains across the Nogova River. Their armored units are hammering away at our front lines, but Intel thinks that they may have something up their sleeve. We know that they aren't committing all available forces to an attack on our positions, so it becomes imperative that we know what they're up to.

This is where you come in. We have been tipped off to the fact that an enemy General and his command staff are relocating their headquarters closer to the front lines. This HUMINT is reliable and the source stressed that we must act quickly - the move is taking place tonight. He says that the General and his staff of about twenty personnel will be moving in a convoy tonight. We need your team to ambush this convoy, secure the General, and eliminate as many of his staff as you can.

TACTICAL: The General and his men will be travelling by Humvee and we expect the convoy to be escorted. Intel suggests that you may be facing either M113s or M2 Bradleys as the primary escort. Expect to see 5-ton trucks moving equipment and possibly more infantry as well.

You will be inserted by parachute just North of the forest. You will need to make your way to the ambush point and set up by the time the convoy arrives.

We have picked out an ambush site for you. The General is leaving Lany at 0100 hours and will be travelling to Velka Ves - a forest about halfway between the two towns lies in close proximity to the road. We suggest that you ambush there. Range from the treeline to the road looks to be about 125m - an easy shot.

It is recommended that you follow the "standard" procedure for taking out a convoy - destroy the lead and the tail vehicles, trapping the rest. More likely than not, those two spots will be taken by APCs anyway. Once those have been destroyed, eliminate any infantry and move in to capture the General.

After you have done this, fall back to your PZ. Immediately on the other side of the forest there is a farm. The terrain here rolls a bit but a Pave Hawk can extract you on the edge of the forest with minimum risk of being spotted.

Be careful. The ambush point is between two garrisoned towns and Mala Ves is home to a howitzer battery (slated for termination later). Once you initiate the ambush, expect forces to close from both sides. Your best defense against this is to be fast and make for the PZ as quickly as you can.

This AO is much hotter than the last one - the enemy has complete control of this area so expect to find heavy patrolling and larger units.

ORDERS: Insert via parachute. Move to the ambush position and set up. Ambush the convoy, destroying all armored vehicles, and capture the General. Eliminate all other personnel if possible. Move to PZ and extract via Pave Hawk.

The mission will be a success when the following conditions are met:
1. You have inserted and set up at the ambush point.
2. You have ambushed the convoy and destroyed any armored vehicles and infantry escort.
3. You have captured the General and moved him to the PZ.
4. You have been sucessfully extracted via helicopter and cleared the AO.

The mission will be a failure if:
1. You are detected (your position is transmitted to other enemy units) before you are in position.
2. The convoy is alerted to your presense or escapes the ambush.
3. The General is killed.
4. You fail to extract from the AO.

MAP: http://www.freewebs.com/seal84/mission2map.JPG

NOTES: Grid size is 1 square km. Note that the enemy has siezed territory on the other side of the river and you will be operating rather deeply behind enemy lines.

OOC: At most, the Marines *might* get a couple of M60 Pattons after you. There will be loaded APCs and additional infantry with the convoy.

I AM TEH MS PAINT GOD!!!!111 I r0><0rZ!!!11!

The cold rushed into the cabin as the rear ramp of the C-130 opened. Colonel Williams walked foward and looked outside, down at the ground, he then turned back to his men and shouted "1 Minute! Check your gear!".

Flight Sergeant Carmen checked his webbing pouches where closed, then strapped the barrel of the .50 cal machine gun to his leg. He whinced as he tried to walk forward. "You ok son?" asked Colonel Williams.
"Yes sir, sooner I get it off the better, it weighs a tonne!", answered Carmen.

A few seconds later the cabin lit up with a green light and Colonel Williams shouted "GO GO GO!" seconds before jumping out into the void. The rest of the team followed close behind.

Once on the ground the team moved quickly into the woods. They moved to the western edge of the woods and dug in, Carmen panting heavily set up the .50 cal on the tripod which was dropped with another man. 4 men worked there way down close to the road and took up position in a ditch a few metres away from the road.

Colonel Williams looked through the bineos and picked up the convoy moving up the road. They where about 2 minutes out, and his men had just finished setting up, they where getting sloppy.

Major Finn led the 4 men who took up position in the ditch. He heard the convoy and montioned to his men to make ready.

Colonel Williams tapped Carmen on the shoulder and said "Aim for the lead truck, then shift your fire to the M113, panic the hell out of them."

The Convoy was made up of a M113 a Truck and the Hummve with the General in it, the Major lying down in the ditch whispered "Let the opening burst die out, the we flank around the back and clear the convoy top to bottom working our way to the front, I'll get the General, you make sure that no ones moving, and for god sake don't get cut up by that .50 cal, wait till its done its job before we move." His men nodded and the Major cocked his weapon.

Colonel Williams shouted from his fox hole, "FIRE!", took the safety off his rifle and empted a magazine at the enemy truck. The .50 Cal opened up and was answered by about 5 enemy soldier's MILES gear sending off a bleeping sound in the truck. The truck stopped and what was left of the enemy squad jumped out. Carmen saw this and quickly took down 4 of them as they jumped out the truck, the 4 left jumped into the ditch next too Major Finns team, who where still hiding, waiting for the .50 cal to stop firing. Catching the team by surprise it took them about 10 sec of kicking and punching to get the weapons leveled at the enemy soldiers, who hadn't even made ready yet. They let a few burst off at the soldiers causing a horrible bleeping sound which cause C/Sgt Bean to cover his ears. "Everyone ok?" shouted Major Finn over the dinn of the .50 cal and the bleeping. He was answered by nods, and then the team jumped out of the ditch onto the road and tossed grenades into the truck and shot 2 soldiers who had got out of the jeep at the rear of the convoy. "Watch your fire! Watch your fire!" shouted Finn, "Bean find the General, the rest of you keep us covered!"

By now the M113 had roared off the road and faced the .50 cal, a squad of soldiers jumped out the back and formed a line formation and returned fire at the .50 cals position. They had failed to notice Major Finns team who where now dragging the general back into the ditch. Carmen switch his fire to the squad, hitting 2 of them as they ran around the side of the M113. The M113s gunner by now had zeroed in on the flashes from the .50 cal and had let a long burst go in the direaction of Carmen, thankfully it missed, but the booming sound caused Carmen to check his fire and take cover. Colonel Williams used the Optics on his rifle to pick off 2 more enemy soldiers before also being forced to take cover by the M113s gunner. The rest of the team on the hill did the same, popping up every now and again to let a few loose rounds go.

Major Finn saw that they where getting bogged down and could see that there was only a limited amount of time before the enemy reinforcements would get to their position, he montioned at C/Sgt Bean to follow him and quickly moved around to the back of the M113, using the roadside ditch as cover, he tossed a grenade into the enemy line, hitting 3 and causing the rest to look around for the enemy, now hitting them from the rear. C/Sgt Bean fired off a few rounds then ducked back down in the ditch. The M113s gunner was mid turn when Finn emptied his magazine at him causing him to bleep, and swear.

Carmen popped his head up from the fox hole again and took control of the .50 cal, turning the enemy line into swiss cheese, as they had moved from cover to engage the new threat. Major Finn tapped Bean and they ran back to the General, grabbing him and montioning to the 2 other men to move out. They covered each other as Bean man handled the General up the hill back into the woods. Colonel Williams threw smoke to cover their retreat then tapped the 2 men next to him on the shoulder and montioned for them to retreat back to the Extraction point. They ran off, east back into the woods. He let a few more rounds go at what was left at the enemy line, which had now effectivily given up and where taking cover. He then met Finn as he got back into the treeline, "Good Job" Shouted Williams, "Get back to the Extraction Point". Major Finn nodded and disappeared with his men back into the woods.

The 2 men who got the extraction point first where Regimental Sergeant Major Smith and Chief Petty Officer O'Rork, both carrying the sections long rang radios called in the Pavehawk. They then popped smoke to mark the LZ and took up defence position looking west and south.

The Pavehawk landed only seconds before Major finn pushed the General onto it. His team got on followed by Smith and O'Rork.

Williams by now was retreating through the woods with his men, Carmen lugging the .50 cal by himself having discarded the tripod and the extra ammo. Williams was the 1st to get to the waiting helicopter and jumped on shouting "HURRY UP!" over the sound of the rotablades. The rest of his group jumped on board, followed finally by Carmen, the Helicopter was on his way back to base seconds later.

The Wind was icy cold, the sky was as dark as a Monkeys ass at night. The Lt thought that, something another officer had remarked on a night jump during Para training. The Lt, looked to his left and right, eyeing his troops. This would be a speciality jump. It would be a HAHO jump (High Altitude High Opening). They were going HAHO because the DZ was well inside enmey territory so the plane could not risk it, they would be dropped out 10 miles in front of the enemy lines and would drop for an hour toward the DZ, silently and unknown on radar. They all had breathing apparatus on and there effect of the gear was worsened by the red light in the cabin. Suddenly the red Lights flickered on and off.
'30 seconds, remember, 10 seconds then PULL, and i don't mean what your thinking you bunch of dirty bastar*s.'
Each man checked his gear and gave a thumbs up, all except for the 60 gunner at the front. He made a V shape with his index and middle finger.
For this mission each man had his own weapons plus AT/134 launchers, to deal with the convoy. They each had flex cuffs to deal with the General.
'Go Go Go', came the pilots voice over the intercom.

An hour later, which would make it 0-dark-50, the Lt touched the ground. He immediately ripped his helmet and oxygen mask off and began unzipping the flight suit that kept them from freezing. He placed the kit in a large pile and as the rest touched down they did also. Each man wrapped the kit in a bag that was desgined for the kit and shoved it on their backs. The men all wore black BDU's and balaclava's.

They slowly made their way toward a small crest covered in waist high grass with a number of trees dotted about it. They could hear the engines of the convoy, faintly, but they were still there. The Lt signalled for them to get down and then to move in toward him. He knelt down and flipped down his NVG's. The whole landscape lit up bright green and he could see perfectly. The rest did the same. It was a partly bright night. They could see the road clearly without the NVG's but they used them now to get their bearings and layouts. The road ran in front of a large forest, to the rear of which was their PZ. Once satisfied the Lt turned to his 9 men.
'Right, standard Convoy ambush. Wait for the lead Vehicles to go down,' he nodded toward the 60 gunner. 'Then each pick a target and work your way down, same as we practiced, you know the order, wait until he shoots, then you shoot. Is that clear'. He got a nod from everyone.

The 60 gunner moved forward of the main group, about 10 metres and readied his AT launcher, as the rest were doing. By now he could hear the convoy very clearly. The General would be in the middlemost but one truck as would standard operating procedure. That would mean, if there were six trucks, which Intel said there was, then he would most likely be in the 4th truck back. They would wait, besides until the confusion had grown from the two convoy guards being taken out. Most likely the General would get out of the truck for a visual by the snipers, then the rest of the team would open up.

An M113 broke into the visual part of the road. The 60 gunner traced it with the launcher. He counted, 1 truck, 2 trucks, 3 trucks, 4 trucks, 5 trucks, 6 trucks, M113, towing a howitzer. Once all vehicles were in the open the 60 gunner fired THUNNNCK. The Miles sensor on the M113 went mad, the 60 gunner flipped a switch on the AT laucnher, to signal another round to his miles interface, it counted 5 seconds then it beeped and THUUUNNNK. The second M113 took a hit. Men started bailing out and s sniper opened up from the men. The sound of the Barret filled the 60 gunners ears as he picked up his bino's and lay down. He picked out the 5th truck. Soldiers bailing out. The he moved to the 6 th truck, more soldiers. He moved up to the 3rd truck, soldiers, some falling out. The the second truck, the bast*rd was standing at the tailgate with a radio. The 60 gunner shouted over his radio '2nd, 2nd. Its the second truck, fuc*ing fire for frig sake.' As he finished the word fire, a rocket sounded, the miles gear, another rocket, more miles gear, another rocket miles gear was getting louder, then another rocket, closely followed by the last one. Right then the firing from the recon team picked up. They were giving it all. The Marines were giving as good as they got though. The 60 gunner got up on one knee and began firing, the heavy thud of his weapon, mastered the night, that is, until the Barret sounded. One of the teams riflemen was assigned to capture the General and he started running toward the 2nd truck, firing over the Marines to keep them down. He got the the side of the truck, as the recon men watched. Suddenly a soldier with an RPG ran to the side of the truck and quickly fired. The rifleman quickly shot the rocket soldier but not before he'd fired the RPG...

...the 8 men on the hill looked on as their Miles gear screamed, they were dead. The 60 gunner looked away quickly and signalled for the Rifleman who was down at the truck to get going. He moved inbetween the trucks and the 60 gunner made a stand. He was firing at a group of Marines huddled behind and M113. He ran back up the hill a bit firing, to get a better view. He took out one...two...and then three of the enemy before the moved off. The firing from the Marines ceased after that. The 60 gunner made a run toward the front of the first M113.

He rounded the front of the metal machine and stood at the front of it and listened. He heard voices. 'Where the hell is the 60 gunner, where'd he go?'
'I dunno sir, he fired at us then dissapeared.'
'Ok Sergeant, where are we in this game.'
'Well sir, w-'
'Your all dead,' came the reply from the 60 gunner, as he turned from the front of the M113 to face, not two men but about 13. Everything went into slow-mo for the gunner. The general dived in behind a truck and the Sgt. began to point and fire, he was too slow, the 60 gunner opened fire, Miles gear went crazy. The men behind the Sgt. were taken completely by surprise, some of them weren't even looking the right way. Soon all that could be heard was the sound of Miles gear and the odd curse from a bad loser. The gunner stepped forward and rounded the side of the truck, where lay the general with his hands over his ears.

The 60 gunner stepped over him and roughly grabbed his hands and pulled them round his back, taking a pair of flex cuffs from his vest.
He fastened the General and then turned him over...and the General gobbed in the mans face, but the frown was wiped off once the General noticed the balaclava. 'That wasn't very nice now was it.' growled the gunner, he then swiftly roundhoused the General in the face, knocking him out.
The 60 gunner called to the Rifleman only to find him propped up against a truck wheel with his miles gear going full blast. 'Nice one asshole,' growled the 60 Gunner, the rifleman made a move to speak and there came another low growl 'Ah, ah, ah, dead men don't talk.'

That was it, the 60 gunner was on his own, he ran back to the General and threw him over his back, slinging his M-60. The General groaned and moaned as they ran through the forest. The Gunner got on his radio and shouted 'Right its 'Bigfoot', get the heli in, teams gone, just me, hurry the hell up Viper 1.'
'Thats a roger, inbound ETA, 10 mins.'
'Bigfoot out.'

15 minutes later Bigfoot ws on the heli, glaring at the General.

OOC: A few notes: I do not know what the local language is, but am assuming that my ployglot either already knows it or has picked up enough for the following. The dirty tricks below (hijacking ambulances, liberating OPFOR uniforms, etc.) are quite standard in RL SOF wargames. They often piss off the regular units, but are common.

IC: A quick breifing and planning session as held. Al produced several sets of OPFOR uniforms he had *liberated* earlier. Boom-boom and Zap made ready 3 off-route command detonated at mines, based on the US M24/M66. Each member would be carrying an M-72 LAWs on this mission as well. After a quick final check of their HALO gear, the team made their way to the waiting MC-130P Combat Shadow.

------------------------------

The Shadow penetrated the OPFOR air defences at 33,000 feet. As the DZ got closer the aircraft dropped to 20,000 feet, as there had been insufficient time for the pre-breathing needed for a higher jump. As the jumpmaster flashed 2 fingers, giving a 2 minute warning, the Jaegerkommandos opened their turned on their O2 bottles and disconnected from the aircraft system. The hoses were placed in a pile behind the console on the far side of the plane. This took less than 30 seconds. They prepared to exit the aircraft. the Jump Master opened the door and performed a spot confirmation then pointeed at the jumpers and then the door. The Jump Master pointed to the lights. Seconds later, the "Green" light was lit and the team was on their way. A minute and a half later, the parachutes were opened and the team began directing their chutes towards the DZ.

--------------------------------

Upon landing, the chutes were removed and hidden under a convenient brush pile. The team began to tactically patrol towards the ambush site slowly and carefully. Upon reaching the site, they began setting up. The entire team was dressed in the liberated OPFOR uniforms.
The M24 command detonated off-route mines were spread out over 60 m, in a pattern designed to take advantage of the loose brush near the road. Doc, Boom-boom, One, and Gi-gi set up the heavy weapons point, while Fingers rigged up an IED cratering mine.

The team set in to wait. Time passed. The convoy was late. Suddenly a siren was heard. As the team observed through their NVGs, an ambulance approached the ambush. Thinking quickly, Oli pushed Al out into the road, and jumped out into the road. The ambulance swerved into the roadside ditch, barely missing Oli and Al. The ambulance crew cheif jumped out and began yellinmg *What in the holy hell do you think you*re doing?!?* Oli pointed to Al who was now writhing in mock pain. *Emergency! He*s really hurt!*, yelled Oli, in the local dialect. The ambulance cheif hesitated. Something wasn*t quite right. It clicked. These troops were armed with non-standard weapons! But before he could react, he had been tackled by Gi-gi and Ox. The rest of the ambulance crew was simultaniously taken out by by the rest of the team. They quickly found themselves lying in a small hollow behind the mortar position, bound and gagged with duct tape.
The ambulance sat in the ditch. Fingers quickly bandaged Al in a loose fasion, faking up a severe real injury.
Moments later, a double-click came across the net. Enemy approaching.

The General*s convoy slowed upon reaching the accident site. The Jaegers donned their protective masks as the convoy entered the ambush zone. The convoy consisted of a bradley, a 5 tn truck, the general*s humvee, 2 more humvees, another truck, and an M113. The security team had been warned that enemy commandos may be in the area. Unfortunately, they slowed down for the accident just as they were in range of the second M24. Oli waited until he was seen.
*Help! We have a real casualty here! Road accident!* Oli shouted to the suspicious bradley commander. The security element commander hesitated. That was all that was needed. Oli pressed the command detonator for the M24, initiating the ambush. The bradley was dead. A full kill! Gi-gi fired several shots in quick sucsession, taking out the M-113, last truck, and the humvees, with his AMR-1 21 mm anti-material rifle.
As the ambush was initiated, Zap tapped his cell phone once, sending an extract order to the Pave Hawk team. Doc opened up with the MG-1, Bubbles and Zap with their M-203 GLs, and the rest of the team with their rifles, except for Boom-boom, who drops 2 CS and 2 smoke rounds from the 50 mm mortar on the convoy, then begins dropping a mix of CS, smoke, and HE simulators on the nearby artillery site, half a klick away.
After a quick furious assault, leaving most of the vehicles mission killed, at best, and a large number of enemy MILEs systems beeping, Oli, Al, Zap, Fingers, Bubbles, and Ox begin moving their way down the column from opposite ends, with their .45 MEU/SOC pistols drawn for quick action. Doc, One, and Gi-gi provide cover, firing on both the convoy and the nearby artillery FB, while Boom-boom finishes off his mortar rounds.
Zap hesitates and checks a message. *Exfil is 20 minutes out guys! Let*s hit it!*
Seconds later, Oli shouts out *General!* The general, and several aides, have been somewhat stunned by the overwhelming assault and CS gas. They are quickly troused up in duct tape.
*Pull out! Ride*s on the way!* Ox hoists the general over his shoulder and begins running towards the PZ. Oli, Zap, Bubbles, and Fingers grab whatever papers from the generals hum,vee they can fit in their bags and hoof it. Al manages to grab hgold of the generals XO. After a second, he is surprise to hear his own MILEs gear go off. The XO had a concealed pistol. However the security team zaps the XO quickly.
As soon as the ambush seach team has cleared the area, the heavy weapons team begins packing up. They make the PZ just as the Pave Hawks arrive. The team clambors onboard with their prisoner and extra intel data. The helo lifts off and begins the exfiltration. Moments after leaving th PZ, the now organized battery hits the PZ with what they have left. The team laughs together as the watch the bombardment on the now evacuated PZ.

OOC: heheh nice...it's an English-speaking country. A buddy of mine was in the 1st Armored (US Army) during the 1980's and he and his squad were ordered to attack a town - there are farms along the outskirts so they threw these sort of farmer's cloaks over their gear and grabbed some hoes. The entire squad spent like an hour or two pretending to work in the fields...getting closer and closer to the town...until they ripped off the cloaks and surprised the hell out of the defenders.

*quickly checking the progress....I'll post mine in later but I have to run for a while...also need to watch 24 in a few hours :P*

The tail of the C-130 was wide open to the night sky, and one by one the SEALs casually stepped off the ramp when the loadmaster gave them the thumbs-up.

The team free-fell only a few hundred feet before opening their chutes and silently drifting into enemy territory, catching a birds-eye view of quite a bit of enemy activity below them.

Landing roughly 100 yards from the north end of the forest, they gathered in their chutes and stashed them in some bushes, then divided the team. Four of them, armed with Claymores and C-4, moved to the edge of the road to plant their hardware while the rest of the team settled into their ambush position.

Ten minutes to showtime, Bauer thought as he checked his watch.

The demo team rigged up their charges and hustled back to the ambush point with about three minutes to spare.

A lone Humvee rumbled down the road, disappearing around the corner. Bauer frowned.

A few minutes later, they spotted the headlights of the General's convoy. Bauer counted a Bradley in the lead, an M113 in the rear, two covered 5-tons, and a Humvee in the middle. It was pretty clear who was who.

He nodded to Moore, the demo triggerman. With a grin, he jammed his thumb down on the detonator.

They'd rigged the charges in a Daisey-chain, with two satchels on either side of the road blowing first, taking out the Bradley, while lumps of C-4 detonated down the length of the convoy. The vehicles ground to a halt as the Bradley and a 5-ton blocked the rest of them from escaping.

The M113's ramp came down and ten Marines jumped out as the driver threw the box on treads into reverse, hoping to back out of the situation. A SRAW into its side ended that idea and the team's SPW hosed down the Marines, forcing them to ground.

"Let's move! Go, go, go!" Bauer shouted as half the team rushed the convoy, dropping the handful of Marines who jumped from the second 5-ton. The five others continued to pin the dismounted Marines in the rear.

The team was about 20 feet from the Humvee when the driver made his move - he threw it in reverse and spun the tires and cranked the wheels around, hoping to reverse quickly and then floor it - the SEALs pasted him with about two dozen rounds through the windshield of the truck and it stopped dead.

The rear doors flew open and the General rolled out with his bodyguard, landing with a thud on the road and scrambling on all fours towards the artillery position. The SEALs dashed around the idling Humvee just as the two Marines stood up - and the bodyguard put his pistol to the General's head and fired.

"F*ck! No, goddamit!" Benton screamed as he emptied his magazine into the laughing Marine.

The last of the Marines were "dead" and the second team ran up.

"He wasted our target, let's get the f*ck out of here!" Bauer ordered.

They were halfway back to the forest at a jog when they heard the unmistakable squeak of tracks. They craned their heads around to look and saw a pair of Patton tanks cresting the hill, apparantly the secuity detail for the artillery position. The turrets swept back and forth, searching for the team.

The SEALs hit a dead sprint and made for the forest at full speed - not before one of the commanders spotted them with his IR gear and blasted them with the 105mm cannon.

Four of them were dead instantly.

"Go go go don't stop!"

They bolted into the forest with a hail of coaxial machinegun fire nipping at their heels, claiming two more of the commandos. Thankfully the tanks would have to circle all the way around the forest to get them on the other side. Bauer hollered into the radio for an immediate evac and was told to sit tight, the chopper would be there in five minutes.

Out of breath, they burst from the forest into the clearing that was their PZ, only to find a pair of LAV-25s headed right for them with infantry dismounts running alongside.

Trapped.

A thirty-second hail of gunfire ended the mission.

Mission failed.

OOC: EDIT:DONE
Tall, thanks for the story...great stuff. I actually have a manual somewhere on how to do these things with small infantry units...fields of fire, split teams, and targeted special eliminations. Lovely stuff.

As a note: completed at 3:38AM PST, begun some two hours' hence (with some distractions).

TEAM: Full Sayeret Shaldag squad (6 men, 2 fire teams) + Shayetet 13 Team 4 (4 men, 1 fire team).

Other equipment:
2 militarized ATVs, dropped with 2, M307 25mm Objective Crew Served Weapon (OCSW) systems [1/ATV] and 4 SHIPON Multi Purpose Personal Assault Weapon System (MPPAWS) units [2/ATV]. 2 more SHIPON units (with some reloads) and 1 76mm HIWS will be carried in by the crews, 1 M72 LAW is in every other Operator’s mission pack except for those that will be ‘humping in’ the SHIPON and HIWS units (2 Operators are assigned that duty)...contingency plans.

--------------------------------------------

The team members stand at the rear of the MC-130H Combat Talon II, the two bundled-up ATVs beside them, and wait for the green light. They look out of the back door and see only blackness, with a few light spots on the ground far below.

The green light goes on. The men turn on their helmet-mounted NVGs and make for the door. The ATV pallets are pushed out first and the men follow--some doing tricks as they jump into the abyss, others just watch the loads and guide their group in the darkness.

A few minutes later, the men are safely on the ground only 20m from the ATVs. Midshipmen Meri and Fior unpack the craft while the others establish a perimeter and stow the packaging in a shallow ditch near a bush, where the others have already stowed their ‘chutes.

Major Gal and Lieutenant Hal meet shortly and agree upon their current position before moving out.

The majority of the team moves on foot, watching for enemy patrols, while the S’13 Operators carefully maneuver the ATVs towards the ambush site.

About 15 minutes later, the men find the first sign of opposition. A general perimeter patrol of enemy troops is seen rushing by on their own ATVs but the team lets them go—they’re not of consequence as long as they miss the Western Asian team.

Within 5 minutes, the men have found the road.

One fire team, including Maj. Gal, Lt. Abram, and Midshipman Meri moves towards the farthest end of the ‘Kill Zone’ (KZ) and set themselves up behind a ridge among the trees and undergrowth. Meri sets about establishing the OCSW station while Gal prepares the 3 SHIPON units they have at hand for use and Abram sets up a position, running down to the road quickly to lay out target areas for the Forward Fire Team (FFT)’s weapons fire.

Tov guides Eyal, Fior, and Ron down to the beginning of the Kill Zone, near a relatively sharp ‘cut’ in the road, where they make similar preparations with the provisions of their ATV and Eyal’s HIWS personal mortar system. Ron takes up a position at the OCSW and waits for the mark. The Rear Fire Team (RFT) is ready.

In the mean time, Shem sets up his CheyTac .408 rifle on a ridge where he can see most of the KZ and, most importantly, the center where the General’s car is supposed to be. The Sniper Support Unit (SSU) is ready.

He watches as Lt. Hal and Yitzhak bury themselves across the road under some carefully crafted camouflage nets, their weapons at the ready. Now the Assault Team (AT) is ready.

And then they wait.

They stay in their positions, each man covered by trees, shrubbery, camo, or a combination of each for an hour and a half as they watch supply truck after supply truck rushing back and forth along the dark road. Once in a while, they hear the sound of tank tracks making their way up the road, but it usually ends up as a lone M113 leading a supply convoy.

Then the time strikes and the team makes ready, it is 0105 hours when the teams hear the first hints of armor treads on the ground.

---------

Then the convoy rolls into view…it is not hard to spot. A M2A2 followed a pair of 5-ton trucks loaded with soldiers and equipment and a M113 with a remotely operated MMG—they know how to keep their convoy secured…but this team knows how to rip it apart even better... And then the target rolls into view. The General’s HMMWV followed by a 5 ton and a ‘deuce-and-a-half’ and, finally, another Bradley.

The convoy moves a bit slowly due to the slow speed of the tracked units, but it keeps moving.

As soon as the first Bradley and pair of 5-ton tricks rolls into the FFT’s sector, the last Bradley passes the RFT and the trap is sprung!

Gal and Abram fire the first two SHIPON-sims and a moment later the MILES systems all over the first Bradley and on the M113 are blinking wildly—the HE/Frag warhead of the second ensures that none of the troops on board units survive the simulated blast. Meri opens up with the OCSW, blasting the 5-ton trucks with a mix of HE-sim and Flachette-sim electronic rounds as Gal takes aim with a second SHIPON and aims for the heart of the third unit in the convoy, the truck nearest to the M113…and to the General. A soft puff of the soft-launch and the second vehicle is ‘mission killed’ in its spot.

A few men manage to escape the MILES-related ‘blasts’ but they can’t escape the well-placed 25mm fire from Meri or Abram’s sharp-shooting as Gal reloads the SHIPON pods with spares. Soon, all of the first four vehicles have been utterly destroyed and its crews are all either ‘dead’ or soon to be.

----------

As soon as the flashes are be seen from the front of the convoy, the RFT chimes in. The convoy’s rear guard—the Bradley and trucks—are met by a similar fate. Tov and Fior let loose with the SHIPON units they bear as Ron follows up with concentrated bursts from his OCSW. Not to be out-done, Eyal shoulders his HIWS (‘shoulder mortar’) and takes aim for the 2 1/2 ton truck, which the 2+ lb charge of the mortar ‘blasts’ into shrapnel that takes out several of the soldiers who survived the first blasts.

-----------

Amid the cacophony of beeps and flashing lights in the darkness, Shem silently, efficiently, completes his tasks.

After the first Bradley is taken out in a flash of blinking lights and beeps, the General’s HMMWV tries to go into reverse…to get out of the still (yet) open rear. A shot from Shem’s .408 begs to differ…and wins the argument as the HMMWV comes quickly to a halt—a MILES-sim .408 AP round holding its engine mid-stride.

A quick follow-on shot removes the body-guard in the front passenger seat as the other sections of the convoy begin to ‘go up’ in blinking lights and noise.

Then the Assault Team moves in for the abduction. Hal and Yitzhak rush out from the opposite roadside…in the darkness the soldiers in the HMMWV can’t tell them from their own unit it’s too late—a quick burst from Yitzhak’s Negev Commado and driver’s-side body-guard are ‘dead.’ They then duck behind the HMMWV and wait a second for the other bodyguard to try to move the General out of the vehicle and away from the attackers, Hal pops up and drops the last body-guard with a head-shot over the rear of the HMMWV. A few seconds later, they have the General-in hand and are dragging him up the hill to the rest of the team.

The enemy convoy now thoroughly destroyed, the men break their bases and begin to move towards the LZ. Meri and Fior drive their ATVs down and collect the Assault team and its captive as the others make for the main body of the woods not 20m away.

The men break the woods and begin to make for the LZ when they hear other ATVs approaching. The men drop and wait for the enemy perimeter patrol, apparently drawn by the sound-and-light show by the road. But they never get to find out what happens, for now at least, as a burst of fire from Ron and a few shots from Abram end the matter in blinking lights as the rushing patrol members find themselves to be very much ‘dead.’

About then, the alarms can be heard at the enemy bases—apparently the patrol was wise enough to report things before rushing to the scene and the good ol’ boys at the bases can put 2 and 2 together.

But it is too late. The team arrives at the LZ with the Pavehawk in sight. Within a minute they’ve loaded aboard and they are just moving clear of the ground, and a pair of abandoned ATVs, when the pursuit forces break out of the forest…only to be met with the door-gunner’s gattling gun, which wipes out the first teams as they break into the clearing and persuades the rest to hesitate a while before following.

Yep, events will be left open for 2 days each.

*wonders how other GMT people did it the first time...were they zombies *

Anyhow, ATVs are up to you. Like I said earlier, the breifings are basically suggestions drawn up by the higher-ups; you can follow the suggested plan or make up your own, but obviously there are certain things which you can't change, like extraction points and times, etc.

In other words execution is up to you.

Finally! The Mission 1 AAR! *damn these things take a long time to write up!*

AFTER-ACTION REPORT - WARGAMES DAY 1
Compiled by Colonel Richard McKendall, TMC

The first mission in the second annual special forces war games was a Combat Search and Rescue mission. A Tallcottian pilot was down behind enemy lines, and the various teams were tasked with retrieving him.

Our own SEAL team was the first up. They inserted via fast-roping out of a Pave Hawk, which was actually uneccesary and dangerous because the pilots failed to make false insertions.

Regardless they moved out, engaging a patrol as they did so. They were ambushed in a forest, which is unfortunate because, frankly, they should have been paying better attention - they are SF operators, after all.

Deafeating the ambush, they moved on, hiding from another group of Marines coming to investigate the shooting. The pilot had just been apprehended by Marine units, but the SEALs arrived just in time and caught the Marines by surprise. After making the snatch they headed for the PZ and had to fend off mounted infantry.

They were able to successfully extract with the pilot and thus passed the mission.

To make their next performance better, they should have conducted more elaborate false insertions and been more alert when moving after a high-priority target in enemy territory - it was almost a certainty that enemy forces would be out looking for the pilot.

Daistallia's team was up next, and planned a much better insertion. They were better coordinated in the field, using a sniper/spotter team in conjunction with the main element. After ambushing some Marines with a good application of firepower, they quickly searched the forest and found the wounded pilot.

Holding the OPFOR off while they waited for extraction, they lost two men before the gunships rolled in to supress their pursuers, then extracted by STABO rig.

Overall, a well-executed run.

Western Asia's insertion was solid, and they moved to the forest. After letting a Marine team pass, they dropped them from behind and moved on, taking a quick (but risky) peek at one of the camps.

They decided to move in and were able to shift most of the guards to one side, but were then surprised to see the pilot find them and join, with Marines hot on his tail. A firefight broke out in which they lost one team member, but the choppers were inbound and the team extracted successfully with fire support from the Cobras.

Hirgizstan's team made a quick, well-executed insertion into the valley and headed out on foot.

A rather bold maneuver by their pointman took out a Marine team that was taking a break, and they continued on. The team's snipers engaged a fighting position but not long afterwards, the pointman almost tripped a mine.

Moving into the forest on the trail of a patch of footprints, they walked into an ambush, but managed to break out of it and find the pilot, who was being held by a few Marines. A few brief shots later the pilot was in friendly hands.

The team then moved to the treeline and waited for extraction, popping a jeep with a LAW and piling aboard the Pave Hawk to end their successful mission.

WinTrees opted to split the team in two to maximize search area, and it paid off - they found the pilot within minutes. they also disposed of a 4x4 and its crew, but not before losing one of their team.

The team with the pilot cleared an LZ and extracted, but the one man left from the other team missed the chopper extraction and was killed attempting to get back to friendly lines.

Who is da Daddy inserted without incident, sniped a few Marines, and they moved towards a forest.

The team was engaged by a Marine squad after they were spotted, but quickly flanked and destroyed the Marines. Unfortunately, Humvees were also en route to that position and caught them by surprise. The team took out both trucks but lost several operators. Making a run for it, they were almost walked on by OPFOR troops, but pushed ahead and secured the pilot, then fending off another counterattack.

After a full-tilt firefight at the PZ, the ammo-starved team was joined by the Pave Hawk, which opened up on the Marines with minigun fire and quickly extracted them.

The United Elias team hit the ground and was amazed to find the pilot still hung up in his chute. They got him down and called for an evac, then toasted a LAV-25 that was coming after them. Unfortunately a lucky shot from an AT weapon by one of the OPFOR infantry "killed" their ride out and the mission was a failure.

Remarks:

The Tallcottian team started strong after the initial stumble last year. The things they needed to address were covered earlier.

Daistallia put together a good run - we found no major flaws in their execution.

Hirgizstan, in our opinion, took too many risks and was caught in a pair of situations they could have been avoided had they been more dilligant. This may be simply due to the actions of one member of the team, however.

WinTrees gets a massive black mark for leaving a team member to fend for himself and for wandering far too close to the enemy encampments. Their mission was looking good, but fell flat in the end. The tradeoff they made damaged unit cohesion, and thus they violated the sacrosanct "leave no man behind" principle.

Who is da Daddy fared relatively well - their team demonstrated its ability to maneuver well under fire and under pressure. They also proved themselves to be a well-coordinated team, holding together in the face of a pair of hellish assaults. They are deserving of praise for that.

Finally, United Elias got lucky - they could have easily walked away from the mission successfully with not a shot fired - such situations aren't commonplace in real operations. However, their mission was ended early due to the luck of a Marine in bringing down the Pave Hawk. Tough break for them.

The best performance in the first mission was turned in by Daistallia's team, though all of the performances were solid. Daisallia's unit had a plan, stuck to it, end executed it. Western Asia gets the nod as runner up, but their mission was right on the edge - it could have been a total failure had one thing gone wrong near the camp, or had it been more heavily defended than it was.

Note: the "best performance" doesn't mean much - there are no points or standings or anything...think of it as a special pat on the back or something :D

OMFG my brain is fried and I need to do another one of those and a mission.... :(

Do not worry, I shall do it

*never fear, Tallcottia is here*

AFTER-ACTION REPORT - WARGAMES DAY 2
Compiled by Colonel Richard McKendall, TMC

The second day of the Special Forces War Games offered a unique challenge - ambush a convoy behind enemy lines and capture a high-value target for intelligence purposes.

Missions like this were common in the Vietnam War, but with reliance on SIGINT on the modern battlefield, it has become less important. However, it's a skill not to be forgotten.

WinTrees was the first to tackle this mission, and did it in a no-frills style. They parachuted into enemy territory, quickly set up the ambush, and sprung it.

Under covering fire, most of the team moved forward and close-assaulted the trucks, grenading them and killing most of the occupants very quickly. A close-quarters scuffle also bagged more Marines.

After finally nailing the M113, really the only successful resistance in the whole operation, the team moved quickly through the forest, marked their LZ and piled aboard the Pave Hawk.

A pretty good run all in all, but their lack of planning on how to deal with the convoy was disappointing. Lugging a .50 caliber heavy machinegun into the ambush was totally unnecessary, and they failed to bring along any antiarmor weapons. Had they swapped the .50 caliber for a SAW or an M240, they would have had the same amount of firepower in a more managable package.

Hirgizstan was next up, and they chose to HAHO into the LZ, which was a smart move. They also brought along plenty of AT4s, which was another big plus.

One OOC note: the AT4 is a one-shot weapon. It cannot be reloaded.

The team sprung the ambush and destroyed the M113s, but failed to act quickly enough to take out the Marine infantrymen. As a result they took catastrophic losses, forcing the machinegunner to move in and capture the General himself, then extract solo to the Pave Hawk.

This is a perfect example of a good plan gone to hell in the field. While technically a success, the team took unacceptable casualties in the face of stiff resistance. They did not effectively parcel out fields of fire and as a result, one soldier with an AT4 managed to take out most of the team.

Daistallia was next to go, and used Marine uniforms and some cunning to accomplish their goal. They manhandled and ambulance crew and faked injuries, causing the general's convoy to halt and consider assiting them - the team then detonated the mines and the assaulters poured the fire on. Within minutes the general was safely in their hands and they were extracted to the PZ.

Their mortar team kept the artillery pinned, which was unnecessary but useful anyway. The extra manpower could have gone towards securing the convoy more efficiently.

The Tallcottian SEALs also HAHOed into the ambush site and set up satchel charges and C-4 in a daisey chain along the road. When the convoy entered the kill zone, the Bradley was knocked out, then the M113 was hit by a Predator, sealing the rest of the vehicles in. Immediately, most of the team rushed the convoy and was able to nail the Marines as they dismounted, while a machinegunner pinned the Marines who had bailed out of the M113.

The Humvee tried to make a quick move to escape, but the driver was killed and the general and his bodyguard tried to flee. The SEALs were on them in moments, but the bodyguard smartly killed his charge, earning himself a faceful of bullets for his trouble.

The team made for the extraction point but was chased by Patton tanks - fleeing into the forest, they made for the PZ at a sprint only to find more mechanized infantry waiting for them.

The entire team was killed and thus the mission was a failure.

Not much could have been done to make it otherwise - the bodyguard acted too quickly, but immobilizing the Humvee earlier might have prevented this. The team was also forced into the forests at a far too hasty pace by the armor.

Finally Western Asia tried its hand. They brought along ATVs and plenty of antiarmor weapons.

Letting a Marine patrol pass, they set up their ambush and hide two men along the road, in position for the quick snatch.

When the convoy rolls into position, it is utterly smashed within seconds and the two hidden troops move in, killing the bodyguards in the disabled Humvee and taking the general captive. A patrol rushes in and is quickly eliminated, and the team loads up the ATVs and heads to the PZ. They meet the Pave Hawk, ditch the ATVs, and extract with covering fire from the miniguns.

A very solid effort.

The best performance for mission two goes to Western Asia. No friendly casualties, fast and precise execution, and plenty of enemy casualties inflicted - exactly what an SF team should do. Daistallia's team runs a close second with their daring tactics, and the performances are really only separated by the loss of one operator from Daistallia's team.

Another good performance by all parties.

*uuunnhhhh.....must write new mission.....*

Mission #3 - Super Snooper

CONDITIONS: 0200 hours, heavy clouds, rain - visibility poor.

SITUATION: Good morning, troops. Today we switch gears in mission design. Rather than fight against a "foriegn" military unit, today your'e taking on terrorists.

We have pinpointed the location of a camp belonging to the infamous Al-Stupid terrorist network in Tallcottia. We thought we had wiped them out last year, but apparantly they're back. HUMINT on the group is thusfar nonexistant. However, we belive this to be a sort of "command camp;" i.e. we have reason to believe that high-ranking terrorist leaders may call it home.

Your mission is to infiltrate this camp and sieze any and all materials of intelligence value. We need to know what these guys are up to. We are suggesting a stealth infiltration because if they know you're coming, you can be sure they will make every effort to destroy all materials that could give us insight into their plans.

TACTICAL: The village of Kvilda is a tiny, isolated fishing village...or rather, it was. No one has had any contact with any of the occupants for almost a week. We assume they were all killed when the terrorists moved in. This village suits their purposes perfectly - it is a quiet, out of the way place where few outsiders go.

The peninsula it is located on is almost totally ringed with steep cliffs, so there is one spot we can put you ashore by boat at - the Northeast tip. We ruled out any other means of insertion for several reasons. First, the terrorists probably have watchers along the coast and on the hills to the south, because there is nothing else on this peninsula - any sort of helicopter activity would be a dead giveaway. Second, since a chopper cannot get in undecected, you must facilitate your own exfiltration.

Rigid Inflatable Boats are available should your team need them - they will weather the somewhat choppy seas easily.

We lack much more than we have in terms of solid intel - we have no idea how many terrorists there are, we have no idea how their forces are distributed, and we have no idea how well they are armed. We can however assume that they will be more than willing to put up a fight if you are detected. We also believe they are manning the lighthouse, since it is an obvious lookout post.

It is suggested that you take a small team into action. We also advise that you stick to the route marked on your map - putting the hill between you and the camp, then descending into it in the depression between the hills. When you penetrate the camp, you are to look for intelligence materials - laptop computers, radio logs, and documents of any kind. You are to sneak in, get as much as you can without being spotted, and extract.

As such, we suggest silenced weapons as primaries. If you need to neutralize any guards, do so as quietly as possible - the Marine OPFOR (who will be playing the part of terrorists) have been told to play along if they are strangled or "knifed" in some form.

ORDERS: Insert via RIB, infiltrate the camp, and obtain intelligence information. Avoid contact if possible.

The mission will be a success when the following conditions are met:
1. Your team has successfully inserted via RIB.
2. Your team, or members of it, has infiltrated the camp and obtained intelligence materials.
3. Your team has extracted via RIB.

The mission will be a failure if:
1. You are compromised before infiltrating the camp.
2. You fail to confiscate any materials of intelligence value.
3. Your team is killed or captured.
4. You fail to extract.

MAP: http://www.freewebs.com/seal84/terroristcamp1.JPG

http://www.freewebs.com/seal84/hilltop.JPG

NOTES: Contact before infiltration is grounds for failure. Contact after exfiltration from the camp is tolerable but will be frowned upon.

In other words you are not free to shoot up the camp after getting what you need.

Your team will start aboard a small patrol boat about two miles out to sea in the northwest - you are to return there when you extract.

Watch out for "watchers" - there may be small teams of lightly armed terrorists whose mission is to keep an eye out all along the peninsula for government forces.

OOC: And there will be watchers. How the camp is organized is up to you. This is mainly a stealth mission, but if you kill silently and hide bodies then they may not notice that "Abdul" hasn't come back from his call of nature yet ;)

The two little RIB's bounced over the swells of the choppy sea. The dark night and black sea was bathed in an anonymous green glow by the teams NVG's. This mission, they hoped, better be a damned sight better than the last one. Each man had a silenced M-4 with HUD sights (a sight that lights up in a Heads up display way, usally with a laser dot in the middle, mounted where a normal sighht would be, or where the carrying handle would be.), with the exception of the two snipers who carried silenced PSG1's. 'Bigfoot' had swore and cussed for an hour straight about having to give in his M-60 but they weren't gona fuck this one up.

They were going to insert along an area of land that just dropped into the sea. It was basically farmland that ran down into the briney. They were paddling profusely, grunting as the oars came up out of the water, after the torsion of pulling back. The land loomed large in fron of them, a slab of black in a green world. The green brightened on a tip of a rocky outcrop, the lighthouse was up and running.

They bumped up onto solid ground, after having checked the area for patrols. They quickly dismounted and the RIBS were dragged into a slighly forested area off to their left where they quickly camoulfaged them for the trip out again.

The enemy camp was supposed to be North West of their position, set into a small valley, with a small mountain towering above it and the lighthouse beyond it. It was about 2 miles or so away at a walk.

They set about a patrol, looking out for patrols the whole way. The farmland arched up and over into a rolling valley and then shaprly went up again, through a forested area and then into the next valey where the base was.

They made it to the forested area above the town, having to avoid two small farmhouses, that where lit up like a torch in pitch darkness, obviosuly the locals knew nothing of the terrorists just over the next hill.

The Lt. was immediately on the Night Vision Bino's, scanning the base, the rest of the team scanning with their NVG's and the sniper through thei scopes.

'Looks like everyone is asleep, i count four sentries, all static, roughly the points of the compass if you take the light house as pointing North.' said the Lt. matter-of-factly.
'Roger that sir, we could take them out easily, its about 600 metres, clean shots. Moving up to the lighthouse...one man walking the base, another looking over the cliff to the sea and one more up on the walk around the top.', said one of the snipers.
The Lt, decided to lay out thei plan. 'Ok, its the way we practiced after the sentires are gone, slow deliberate moves, no gung ho, u hear me bigfoot? I want complete control, no shit ok, we take it tent by tent, building by building, we secure and collect and then we exfill, very fast, you read me?'
He got a nod and another V shape with his fingers from Bigfoot.

The snipers took aim, one at North sentry, the other at East, they would work their way round, clockwise. Psssst, the first sentry looked around then sat down slowly, no movement. Psssst, the second sentry bought it and just 'fell' over. The snipers moved slightly, settling in on South and West. Pssst, the south sentry slammed his gun down and then jumped down in a pissed off heap, with a slight cock-eyed look from West, who then bought it himself, he just simply lay down.

The snipers watched through their scopes and checked there was no movement, none at all. They moved their aim toward the lighthouse. This time they would hit the two on the bottom and then go for the sentry at the top. Pssst, the T (T means terrorist) walking the beat stopped for a moment and lay face down over, the static man turned and similarly got the treatment. One sniper quickly moved up to the T walking round the top of the lighthouse. He was almost facing them when Pssst, he bought it and lay down loking out behind him, toward the sea

Still no movement on target. The team advanced slowly down past the broken down fences that used to be part of farms. The land was bare, short, sun scorched grass, with dried brown parts here and there. The team advanced toward the crumbling ruins of an old chruch. It had a camo net over the 'roof' and housed many crates and boxes. Weapons probably, they weren't here for that, though the Combat Engineer moved closer to take a few photo's. He came back to the team who were rounding the side of a half wood half brick barn. They could hear nothing. They slipped round the side and saw the 'hub' of the camp, the middle of it really, there was an old spit, a large fire in the middle that was still smouldering, a few pots and pans and a couple of fishing chairs. The barn door was gone and it was half-filled with hay, the team looked inside. There were two bodies lying sleeping in the barn, they were lying on the ground, under some hay with a couple of green blankets below them. The two riflemen walked forward and shot them both, the silenced MILES gear just blinked and the men just woke up, grunted and truned over.

The next tent looked lively, light spilled out of it and racous voices could be heard. The team split in two, one would assault one end and the other would make sure no one got out the other end. The assaulters sprang forward, interrupting 6 men around a poker table-no chance, The assaulters quickly opened up and the players just sat down again, looks of surprise and resentment on their faces. The assaulters skipped out the back and met up with the other team. The last building was a long 'communal house', peering in through the low windows they saw only bunks, they lined the floor. No lights were on, all were asleep. They had a good look through the windows, no equipment in there, just bunks and a few bathrooms. The last building was a small, abandoned house with no door. The team quickly got inside

The house was the real hub, there were laptops on wooden boxes and desks strewn with maps. Quickly each man opened up a bag and began throwing the equipment inside, everything went in. They quickly threw the bags back on and were about to go out when, the door to the communal house swung open and out tiptoed a man wiht a white vest and balck boxer shorts. He rounded the visible side of the building and lit up a fag. The Lt. signed to the men to wait, he was gona knife him. Soon the lt was skirting the front of the house, he rounded the edge and halted as the man brought up a gob of plehgm and spat it out. The he had a Ka-Bar knife up under his chin, and a voice said 'Your dead, flick it and lie down mother fu*ker.' The man did as he was bid and flicked the fag away, they were good at playing along. The Lt, signalled for the rest of the team and they made their way back into the lit up tent, where the poker players were busy seeing who could pull the most pissed off face. All the electrical equipement went into the bags, phones, shaving kit, aerosols, a briefcase, some jewelry boxes and another laptop. Once the team were satisfied everything was swiped they ran out of the tent and made a b-line for the forest. Only to be stopped by a hand up from one of the snipers. He pointed up toward the treeline. Two lone firgure could be made out, the snipers aimed and fired, both figures just sat down, and the team continued toward the forest.

Within 15 minutes the team were riding the surf again, only this time with a little extra cargo. When they had nearly reached the boats they had found two T's plodding around the area, clumsily, saying 'I swear i saw someone, like i mean really.'
'For frig sake, they left something right he-' They said no more as they got Ka-Bars shoved under their throats only they weren't going to die. Instead they got flex cuff's shoved on and they were dragged down to the sea and thrown into the RIB's, they would be off for a little interrogation.

OOC: When I wrote up my team profile, I just knew having a master diver along was going to come in handy. :) Hope you don*t mind the drama I added towards the end.

IC: A planning session was underway. *We have sea state 5 and it appears to be worsening.* noted Oli. *Do we want to insert by RIB or SDVs?*
Bubbles was quick to point out that the RIBs would be difficult even for the best coxswain to handle in the worsening sea state. *Alright, we*ll check on the SDVs, then* declaired Oli.
Oli and Al went of to set up an SDV. Bubbles began checking the teams diving equipment. Zap began gathering up and checking the calibration of certain instruments the Jaegercommandos routinely carried on CT intel missions. Boom-boom and Fingers began preparing a few nasty surprises. One and Gi-gi began to prep their weapons. Doc stepped out to the teams armory and rounded up the teams silenced .22s, 9mms, .45s, and SMGs.
After 30 minutes or so, Oli and Al called the team back together. *Guys, we can*t get an SDV up in time for our window. We*re going to have to risk the RIBs.*

------------------------

The team departed aboard the SOF delevery boat at roughly midnight and headed west for the peninsula twenty miles in the distance. The seas were very high and the weather was picking up. each man was equiped with NVGs, a silenced weapon, and their own individual specialist equipment.
From their their launch point, roughly 2nm off the coast, the team launched the 2 RIBs.
The support boat loitered at the launch point, waiting for the call to extract or provide support.
As they approached, Oli positioned the RIBs just outside the surf zone, and scanned the beach landing zone with his NVGs. After seeing it was clear, he tapped Bubbles, who was already in his wet suit and rebreather.
Bubbles made his way to the water line. The weather worsened. As he observed, two tangos made a sweep of the beach and exited to the East.
He waited. The tangos didn*t return. Now, the beach was indeed clear. He flashed a red lensed light to the waiting boats.
On Bubbles* signal, the waiting boats made their way to the beach. The team quickly unloaded their equipment, then cached the boats and silenced motors.
The men began the roundabout patrol to the terrorist camp. After about an 4 klicks and an hour, Gi-gi and One dropped out of line and began making their way over the hill. The rest of the team continued to conture their way around the hill, patroling tactically.
As the sniper/spotter team approarched their chossed spot (the trees in the lower right corner of grid Ii08), they froze. A watcher team of two tangos was already there. The tangos hadn*t spotted them. After a few minutes observation, it became clear this team of tangos weren*t using NVGs. Gi-gi approached from the south and One covered him with his silenced BR-2. (OOC aside: I am not even going to consider trying to silence Gi-gi*s big ole AMR-21...). Gi-gi managed to approach within 5 m. He popped both tangos with his .22 *hush puppy*.
One and Gi-gi moved up to the OP. They scanned Kvilda below, then texted a SITREP to the rest of the team.
The SITREP noted that only the church and buildings Charlie, Echo and Fox appeared occupied but no movement was noted. Sentries posted at Alpha, Charlie, India, and the lighthouse.

B Alpha
LHouse

B Baker
B Charlie B Delta
Church B Echo
B Fox
B Golf B Hotel

(OOC: can*t seem to get that to come out quite right, but it is supposed to be the designations of the buildings in the image.)

It also noted that the sentries were lightly armed. Also, noted was their wearing homeade film badges....

The 8 members of the assault team halted at the RV point (trees at Ih09 to consider. Zap preped his special equipment.
The silenced shots of the snipers quickly took out the sentries. The Charlie sentry was left standing. The assault team made a quick, quiet approach to the village. 2 men each were assigned to the occupied buildings. Zap and Ox to the church, Oli and Fingers to Charlie, Bubbles and Al to Echo, and Boom-boom and Doc to Fox. The break in or assault would initiated by One taking out the sentry at Charlie. Which it was would depend on the activity in the houses.
The teams slowly and quietly made their way to the houses. There was no activity. The church was apparantly being used as an office. Charlie was being used for storage. The other two buildings were full of sleeping men. As soon as the sentry was down, the teams went in.
The Echo and Fox teams quietly observed their buildings.
Zap and Ox slipped into the church. Near the altar, a tango was standing in front of a desk. Ox took him down silently with a 9mm. The two began quickly stuffing everything on the desk into their bags. Papers, photos, and even 3 lap tops all went in.
Over at Charlie, Fingers quickly and quietly picked the locked door. As He and Oli went through, they noticed the sounds of a machine shop going at full tilt drifting up from the cellar.
*Zap, get over here now! Bring the counter!!* read Oli*s message.
As Zap and Ox made their way over to Charlie, Zap readied his geiger counter and chem sniffers. Sure enough, the area around the cellar door was hot.
The four quickly desided on an assault plan.
Fingers placed a prepared breaching charge against the cellar door, while Zap and Ox carefully placed their intel bags just inside and to the left of the front door and then took their assault positions. Oli quickly texted the 2 gaurd teams and the sniper team what was going down.
*Ok. We*ll take down the Ts here* was the reply.
As soon as the charge went, it was followed by 2 flash-bangs. Zap and Ox were through the door, closely followed by Fingers and Oli. Their constant training in CQB paid off as they instantly identified the tangos in the room and popped all 6 within seconds.
*Right clear!*
*Left clear!*
*Rear clear!*
The other teams performed similar assaults on the two barricks buildings, rolling up 5 tangos at Echo and 4 at Fox. As soon as they cleared and secured the buildings, they hastily made their way to Charlie.
*We have what appeaers to be a radiological bomb half finished downstairs* Oli told the others as they arrived. *Let*s get the goods and go!*
The team gathered several kgs of hot materials in secure bags, the intel bags, and moved out, sending the exfil boats the pickup signal as they did so. 45 minutes later, they RVed with the sniper team at the second RVP.
They quickly patrolled back towards the beach. As they neared the boat cache, Ox, on point, froze and then slowly crouched. He gave hand signals telling the team he had spotted the tango patrol sheltering from the cold rain in among some trees (Je06). The team waited. Al and Fingers slipped in behind them. One of the tangos lit up a cigarette, outlining himself and his partner. *Sorry guys, you*re dead.* whispered Al as he an Fingers popped them with silenced 9mms.

The team finished patroling to the beach. The boats were undisturbed. They quickly got ready and made their way to the pickup point.

The Gunnery Sergeant looked out of the lead boat and saw land emerging from the fog which serously limited visiibility even but their night vision wouldnt be a probelm. The two RIBs tossed up and down on the swells and the side effect of being stealthy was to have to travel slow, which meant having to be to thrown around by the four and a half foot waves for longer.

Five minutes later the two boats beached and the sergeants at the front of each of the little boats jumped out and scanned the area with their NVGs and teh rest of the men then pulled the boats inland thirty yards or do to some bushes before taking their equipment and moving out to the South West.

Corporal Ibrahim was to have the unfortunate job of guarding their extraction and although he intended to stick to his silenced MP5 if there was trouble, it was reassuring to know that tehre was a Minimi mounted on a bipod ath the front of one of teh boats.

Fifteen minutes later the remaining seven men had encirceld the hill and were now turning to the North West. Suddenly Sergeant Yitzhak the point man gave a hand signal and they dropped simultaneously to the prone position. There was a three man patrol coming from the North a hundred yards or so away and he waited as they walked past catting loudly and not notcing the special forces. They would have to remember that they could return and Sergeant Mathew was ordered with hand signals to take cover in this position and guard it until the rest of the team returned.

Now only six men, they approached the camp which was lit up like a christmas tree forcing them to remove their night vision and they now split up again. Only First Sergeant Ehud and teh gunny were to enter teh camp while the others provided over watch.

Tfe Gunny Sergeant crept down the hill and quickly ascertianed where the most important buidling was. It needless to say was right next to what apeared to be the barracks hut. They would approach from behind and atempt to gain entry through an open window and luckily only six guards seemed to be on duty in the whole camp. They soon reached a large bunch of foliage less than thrity feet from the buidling win questin and the Gunny made a break for it sneaking up to the singlestory structure and peering in the window he saw documents and compuer disks.

There was only one small problem a guard's foot steps could be heard and just as he went passed the corner the Gunny was hude behind he grabbed the Marine and held a knife to his throat before whispering, "Now remember your dead, so act like it." There was no argument and as First Sergeant Ezzra joined him by the building he threw himslef through the window and landed quietly on the wood floor. The buidling seemed to haveone large room which he was in and two smaller rooms next to it. The room was dark and he crept over to the door his silenced Sig Sauer in hand and opened the door. There were some bunks one of which was occupied and while the man was still 'asleep' he 'cut' his throat, Ehud meanwhil ehad been collecting the douments and disks.

In less than two minutes they ha made their way back to the overwatch positionand the team slowly started to move out. Just before he picked up his rifle however Sgt Ezzra saw a guard approaching the 'body' of the one they had killed and he fired a silenced round 'killing' him as well. It wouldnt be long before tehy found them.

As they made their way bak to the extract they found that had Sgt Matrew had killed all three of the men on patrol with a burst from his MP5.

By the time they reached Corporal Ibrahim and the boats tehy could hear gunshots in the distance and tehy piled their equipment inbefore pushing the RIBs back down teh beach and soon they were powering back out to sea.

--------------------------------------------

Midshipmen Fior and Meri pilot the Morena RHIB through the rough surf, thrusting its sleek black form through the crashing waves as they look on through their NVGs. They watch the radar for signs of the incoming shore as Yitzhak mans the machine gun.

The other team members sit tight and wait for land.

Soon, the faint outline of the shore appears on the radar display and the word goes out to prepare for landing. The pilots ease off of the engines and allow the Morena to slow to a crawl. The Fior hands over the controls to Meri as he positions himself with his IMI SR-99 SWS and scans the landing zone for signs of enemy activity. After several minutes, he gives Meri a thumbs up and the RHIB begins, once again, to move forward towards the shore.

Five minutes later, the boat makes land fall and the men pile out to set up a perimeter. The Sayeret Shaldag team waits and watches for enemy patrols as the S’13 men hide the boat, partially sinking it under the surf. The Infiltration Team (IT) members check their clothing—enemy uniforms—for realism and then check their gear.

The task is quickly done and the men split into their assigned teams before heading out. As they make their way south, the men of the IT mentally rehearse their actions and check their behavior against foreign behavior. These considerations are cut short, however, as the men approach a road and the Major suddenly stops and holds up a fist.

The men sink down to prone positions in the thin woods. Major Gal and Captain Tov watch the road with their NVGs, where a tuck is parked in a pull-off…its crew sit in the roof-less HMMWV and smoke cigs, their weapons resting between their legs. One of the men has a set of NVGs but they sit around his neck—useless.

Tov motions Eyal and Abram to move up as Gal takes aim at the man with the unused NVGs. With the four Operators ready, Gal takes the first step as he pulls the trigger on his Tavor, a soft klick is accompanied by a quiet ‘woosh’ as he fires at the first soldier, before moving to fire on another. His teammates follow suit and within a few seconds the OPFOR marines are interrupted from their cigarette break as their MILES gear blinks silently. The men curse a bit, but do not object further as the Western Asian team moves down to drag their five bodies into the woods. The men are stripped of their radios and some of their gear so that the infiltrators can look realistically familiar to the other enemy soldiers…the only difference being covered IR-florescent triangles on their arms and helmets and strips on their guns to help the rest of the team identify them.

The Infiltration Team moves quickly to take the place of the men in the HMMWV and looks through the "terrorists’" books aboard the vehicle, finding some radio manuals, a radio schedule log, some local maps with patrol stopping points marked in ink, and a few pamphlets but little else. The IT sits in the HMMWV now, waiting for the as the rest of the Operators move on to seek out their positions near the town.

The other team members continue their long walk, periodically, the Major calls the march to a halt as he hears some noise or another nearby. In making their way about the mountain, the men let two foot-patrols of OPFOR Terrorists pass by before falling upon a Terrorist ‘way station’—an old hunting cabin on the hill side. The men watch for activity, but see none, so Abram and Shem move in to search for any materials that may be inside as the others provide cover and watch for any returning enemy soldiers.

Working quickly, Abram and Shem find only some radio equipment, a space heater, ammunition, and a small stove inside of the one-room cabin. Abram picks up one of the enemy radios and records its set frequencies, which he writes down in a notebook before returning it to its charger. Shem checks for any written information that might be useful, but finds none. The two Operators move out of the cabin again, leaving things looking very much the same as before they arrived.

About three-quarters of an hour later, the men arrive at their target zone—a ridge to the North East of the terrorist, with a clear view of the buildings and clearly out-of-place tents. The men are now just over 1 1/2 hours into their mission.

A few minutes later, the Snipers have their post set up and the FST is prepared to run to the rescue if things turn south. On time, the infiltrators return…some 180 minutes before the scheduled shift change and just about when the fewest terrorists should be awake.

They expose their IR patches for a moment as they drive down a dirt road to the town, allowing their teammates on the hill to know where they are, before covering them again with velcro patches.

Each sniper keeps an eye on one man and Gal keeps his eye on a fourth.

In the HMMWV, the men quickly check their Micro Uzis as they roll into town and park in front of the church, which conspicuously bears a long radio antenna, to keep in contact with perimeter patrols in the area, and a satellite dish. In the darkness, the single guard does not take much note of the four men dressed similarly to his teammates, and doesn’t even notice the fact that all of their guns bear silencers.

The men walk calmly into the building, Tov greets the guard before moving inside to follow his team. Once inside, the men close the door and move quickly through the entry way towards the main room of the chapel, their weapons still slung low,…now the terrorists’ communications and command center.

Tov and the others walk through the doorway and are greeted with the sight of 5 terrorists sitting at desks and radio sets, a closed door in the back is guarded by a sixth man. Tov and his men walk into the room and seem to be making their way for the rear door before they all stop, mid-room, and turn to the nearest OPFOR marines as they pull out their Micro Uzis. The men begin to shoot, Tov hitting the guard and an off-duty radio officer as Hal takes out two others. Each of the other men takes out his target. The blinking lights are met with some confusion, but the marines know their parts and don’t make too much noise as they fall over in their spots.

Hal and Meri rush to the door at the rear, where they join Tov, as Eyal returns to the door of the church, where he hoists his CAR-15 and waits for any unexpected visitors. The three others open the door to the rear, the pastor’s offices, and walk in, their Micro Uzis at the ready. They find several more terrorists, but none of them pay much attention to the Western Asian men—they’re busy ‘torturing’ a townsperson. One of the terrorists, however, seems to be the boss as he sits at his desk and smokes a cigar while the others do the work.

Hal walks over to the leader, who turns to them as Tov and Meri open fire on the torturers, taking out the four other men quickly as their Uzis whisper softly, *clink*ffftp*clink*ffftp*clink*ffftp*clink*ffftp*clink*ffftp*clink*ffftp and are met with silently blinking MILES units. Hal grabs the leader, and holds his Uzi under the man’s jaw. "I think that you’ll be coming with us now," he says as he cracks a grin. Hal flexicuffs the man and pushes him to the ground as his teammates release the hostage and search the bodies of the others for documents and information, throwing their wallets and papers into the black bags that the men bear with them.

Tov and Meri, having dealt with the ‘dead’ marines in the office, return to the main room, where the grab the dead terrorists and drag them back into the office to search them for files. The ten ‘dead’ men are set in the office and the ex-prisoner is given guard over the terrorist commander. Hal saves off several files on the commander’s computer before shutting it down. He then takes out a crow’s foot and breaks open the casing and tearing out the hard disk, which is stuffed into a ziploc bag and thrown into the ‘loot bag.’ Tov and Meri find a group of documents laid out on a desk—apparently plans for an upcoming attack—and stuff the files into manilla folders, which are also thrown into the bags. A handful of laptop computers are found around the room and they, too, are thrown into the bags after being shut down and packaged in plastic.

Hal returns to the commander and asks him about other leaders in the area, speaking in Arabic with a perfect Syrian accent, and, after a bit of ‘encouragement’, is told of another commander who is sleeping in a nearby building. Hal re-gags the commander and sends Meri to join Eyal. They call in the guard, who is then flexicuffed and gagged at knife-point and lead into the back to join the commander. Eyal takes the man’s place at the door as Meri grabs one of the nearby HMMWVs and drives it to the church’s door, where the ex-prisoners, now in the garb of the ‘terrorists’, are lead to the door and are unceremoniously loaded into the back, now dressed like their old prisoners. A quick encrypted radio call is sent out to the Fire Support Team to meet the ex-prisoner on a nearby road and the man is sent on his way to the improvised rendezvous with Ron and Yitzhak.

Seeing that the escaped prisoner is safely away from the camp, the guards taking little notice of their ‘comrade’ in a HMMWV, the men of the infiltration team turn to the issue of the other terrorist leader. The men jump into their own HMMWV and make their way to the mayor’s house, where the man is reportedly staying, but when they see the heavy guard standing watch they think the better of it and drive on to a third HMMWV, which Tov and Eyal soon appropriate, and then leave the camp, heading for the rendezvous point.

The Sniper and Command team see their teammates leave the town and then set on their way to meet up with them. About 1.5 klicks from the camp, the men meet up. Each HMMWV is now filled with the ten team members, their freed hostage, and the pair of captured OPFOR marines and the men begin their dash for the RHIB. Along the way, the Operators are flagged down by two ‘terrorist’ patrols, but they only slow for long enough to let off bursts of silenced gunfire from their rifles and Uzis, leaving the dead marines at the side of the road—a mess and a risk, but the time spent hiding them is too precious to loose. Two other HMMWVs on patrol are met and the terrorists aboard liquidated. The team can’t risk having these men catch them, and the three HMMWVs rushing along is too out of the ordinary to risk.

Not twenty minutes later, the men have arrived at the original post and have killed off four more terrorists who sit in their HMMWV. They pull the hostages out of the one vehicle and the freed man follows in the middle of the team. The men move through the woods, as quickly and as stealthily as possible. Hal notes that radio chatter is beginning to pick up as the terrorists on patrol realize that they’re not getting any returns from their regular check-in from base. A group of men, apparently at the way-station, report a call to the base on some of the other channels that raised a report that the Center had been compromised. The men still had no clue of what was happening, and even if they did it would’ve been too late.

The men are back at the RHIB and are already busy preparing for the return to the deployment vessel, the captives loaded on like luggage and the civilian sitting in a passenger seat, when Yitzhak hears something approaching the perimeter.

He marks a rustling in the woods and some shouts—reports come in over the radio of the HMMWVs from a foot patrol. Yitzhak curses to himself as he signals for Ron to join him. Ron pulls out the SHIPON rocket and takes aim at tree a bit off in the direction of the road…and waits. The other men take cover, most of their backpacks already loaded on the waiting boat, and take aim in the direction of the sound.

Yitzhak sees a single man emerge from behind some brush with his NVGs and opens fire, the unsilenced Negev clanking and banging loudly in the night, the man’s MILES unit blinks wildly just as two of his compatriots follow him into the open. Ron fires off the Shipon and the rocket’s double warhead ‘explodes’ over the patrol, ‘killing’ them all. The rest of the team jumps into the Morena RHIB and are soon followed by the machine gunners. Meri eases the boat away from the shore backwards as Yitzhak man’s the boat’s gun.

A few minutes later, the boat is far out to sea, and the men safely on their way home with two terrorists bagged and a good number of seized documents and computers.
