Deshdenstadt

New Hamburg, December 2nd, 1930
The celebrations were in full swing. On Freiheit Tag, all of Deshdenstadt roiled in celebrations for the independence of the colony from Alskau, it's colonizer. The parades braved the snow, as the powdered hills reflected light from the torches and parades that were scattered throughout the area. A large baseball stadium at New Hamburg, with 10,000 people inside, was home to the large celebration occuring. As the singer finished the national anthem, 4 KF-2 Strum Adler fighters swooped over the stadium, flying toward the coast. Unfortunately, they were here for more than show. All the pilots were members of the Nationalist Party, which was using the time to advertise for the upcoming Parliament elections, which would culminate in the January 1st election of the President. But this was not going to be a smooth election.
The KF-2s opened the bay doors, loaded with CBU-944 800 lb cluster bombs, and swooped low, over the oil storage area that held shipments from the rig farm 90 miles offshore.
The worker looked up at the 4 aircraft, leaning on his cart parked on the street between 2 gigantic oil tanks. He did not notice the 8 bombs being released in the night, but saw the bomblets bounce off the oil tanks.
He had no time to scream.
The bomblets exploded in a flash, as shrapnel showered the area, and the man next to him seemed to fall apart like a rag doll as shrapnel tore through his neck and stomach, gore showering the area. Then, the bomblet's blasts penentrated the oil tanks, and the whole complex light up in a blast visible from space.
The crowd at the stadium screamed as the glow from the north pulsed. As they watched in horror, 40 men stormed onto the field, in the uniform of the elite and nationalistic Eisenschutz, with Viking Arms rifles aimed at the oncoming police officers. The police ordered their men to set down their arms, and one drew his pistol as his head burst like a melon, followed by the shooting of the rest. 2 men approached a watching Liberty Party senator, and knocked him out.
A Eisenschutz General approached the podium.
"You have nothing to fear. We will not harm you if you remain peaceful. Please return to your homes in the city. If you are living outside the suburbs, we will provide you with shelter. We are destroying the government that has caused this nation so much harm."
Outside the city, nationalist forces created a quick attack, with heliborne units capturing the outskirts and towns, as armored units secured a perimeter.
An ATC at Hamburg AFB was suprised to see a gun in his face, and the Nationalists now had an airbase, along with tactical bombers, attack and fighter aircraft, and cruise missiles. Everything was going according to plan.
