RELIGIOUS PARTY TAKES POWER IN NEW GONDOR

New Gondor Electoral Commission Announcement :

All votes have now been counted and verified, with the results as follows:

Holy Empirical Party - 51.4%
Republican Party - 26.8%
Liberal Democratic Party - 12.3%
Social Revolutionary Party - 9.3%

It is therefore given that the new governing party of the Free Republic of New Gondor is the Holy Empirical Party.

The next general election is to be conducted in 10 years.

Press Release from His Holiness Cardinal Paul Magellan :

"We thank the people of the Free Republic of New Gondor for putting their trust in us to carry out the Lord's will and restore virtue and morality in our society. It is the intention of the party to follow a more spiritual path than that of our predecessors, a view evidently share by you, the voting public.

As a fellow member of the Global Confederation, we are deeply disturbed by this development. A religious government in New Gondor will in itself strain relations between our two nations, ourselves being an Atheist people.

We will be monitoring this situation, and the actions of the New Gondor government, very carefully.

New Gondor sees no reason why the relationship between our countries should worsen, the democratic process has taken its course and the Holy Empirical party has been chosen by the people.

That may be, but the democratic process is flawed and places in power those who are weak and fearful when a strong, powerful leader is required. We will be watching.
