Dimelda Unleashes New Tank:
Papa's Got a Brand New Gun...

Today, the Dimeldish army, a relatively low-profile organization from an equally low-profile country released information to the public concerning the military's newest "toys."

The Dimeldish Kodiak Heavily Armored Assault Tank ((HAAT)) was unveiled at a military gala out on the Southern Plains of Dimelda's main continent. http://www.geocities.com/makrogore/kodiak2.txt
Seen here, the Kodiak is a marvel of Dimelda's mostly underrated military majesty. A fearsome presence on any land-based battlefield, the Kodiak is planned to serve under the command of the Dimeldish National Defense Force ((DNDF)).

Additionally, head of the Armed Forces and Commander of the Main Battle Forces of Dimelda, Sir Brinn K. Mevaila released these specifications regarding the new weapon:

Kodiak HAAT ((Heavy Tank Unit))

Crew: 5-man crew consisting of commander, pilot, and loading crew.
Power: Diesel Plant. Weight: 72.3 Tons
Speed: 45 km/h cruising speed, 65 km/h maximum.
Armament: Main Gun: 110mm Thundercannon

Misc:
*Specialized Treads
*Optional: Artillery-Mode: Allows tank to deliver siege-usage shelling in a stationary position.
Price: 5.2 Million USD.
Est. Tech Level: Modern to Near-Future ((2000 to 2030))

This is a heavy tank not designed for anti-air attacks. It can take out infantry and buildings relatively easily, but is best used against enemy armor in its siege mode. One benefit the Kodiak has over some more conventional tanks is its treads. The rough terrain of the Southern Deserts in Dimelda was factored into the design and thus the treads have been altered to tackle rocky outcroppings and altogether uneven terrain. The downside is that it tends to tear up the less-solid types of ground, for example, on plain dirt/sand, the treads will end up flailing a bit.

Yet, the purely destructive power of the Kodiak's siege-mode is a continually reinforced aspect of this heavy tank. During the transformation, which lasts approximately thirty-five seconds, two terrain cushions release from the sides of the tank, and the entire unit becomes a stationary long-range assault gun. The cushions descend to positions as parallel to available terrain and act as bracers for the impact forces exerted by the Thundercannons in siege-mode. The shells used in this mode are stored in a segregated compartment near the rear of the vehicle and are able to create significant damage both to outer armor and to inner systems. The maximum effecitve range of this mode is 6km, after which shelling becomes unreliably erratic in direction and damage.

The most effective use for this tank is as a support unit. By using faster, higher mobility armor to clear paths, this tank is then allowed into a range for assault. Utilized as a support weapon, this tank can be devastating when used properly. Against infantry, the Kodiak is lethal, but against enemy tanks, the Kodiak is better off being guarded by an escort of vehicles or anti-tank personnel.

((OOC: Again, as per the last post regarding the Kodiak, you may leave comments, positive and negative, as well as placing orders.))

We wish to order 10,000 Kodiak vehicles. Our J.F. clones are well-suited to such a powerful machine. Invasion plans areā€”did I say invasion? I meant peace-keeping operations are moving full-steam ahead.
