Earlier the press was given an in depth look at the purpose of the ship, and an airshow sparkled overhead as the luminous fireballs that were Valefor fighters streaked above. A CRDF military spokesman says:

"These vessels will allow us to quickly and tactically deploy a sizeable bit of air force into places we would never dare to risk one of our larger carriers, the overall result on our tactics will be an even faster and harder to take down fleet."

.....During mock combat trials this afternoon, which took place amongst the ISAF archipelagos, the Cygnus 1 was able to successfully outmanuever and defeat 3 'enemy' frigates and a destroyer, one frigate using the ship's weapons alone. Crews aboard the 'enemy' ships had many things to say about the carrier's jamming systems, but many of their comments cannot be reprinted here. The captain of the destroyer says;"When our radios went out, we were separated and looking through the islands for her, when they came back on one of our frigates wasn't responding. We had almost no time to chat as soon afterwards planes began to swoop in on my position. Once they had 'sunk' my ship, the planes left and the radios jammed again. Pretty cool stuff actually!" While the results of this mock engagement are atypical, CRDF naval strategists are nonetheless very excited about the uses of the Cygnus class in actual combat, and today's battle illustrates the beginning of what is certain to be a very successful career for the new ship.....
