In a report today, the Federations space Program, or the TSP, as it is commonly refered to as, has announced the planed production of a fleet to protect it's burgoning interest's. Although the majority of Space funding is going towards the Terraformation of Mercury, a small amount will go towards the establishment of a small reasearch group to plan the size and specs of the new fleet. The date of construction is unknown, as there is a lack of funding, and proper facilities.
In a special report, Mark Waltzburg, The Former President of The Federation, and Head of Space program said this:
The Federation has been able to get by with its Space Program untill now. Currently we have 3 space stations, and a fleet of 20 science/research ships, and 10 transports, all of which are unarmed. For too long has our tens of thousands of citizens and specialists have gone on without proper protection. Even though we aren't a warmongering nation, and we don't go around offending other governents, who is to say that some Terrorist cell, or Oppressive Nation won't see us as a potential Target? This is why we pushed, and succeded for, at least, the commision of a group to look into the production of a space fleet. I urge any other nation to help support this initiaive be donating to this cause.
Soon after, the Governement released a report saying that they agree with the Former President's ideas are respected by the govenment, they don't want this to turn into a charity drive for the country.
A new Orginization the Torontonias Space Defence Commision, or the TSDC, that is seperate from the TSP but still closely linked, will take command of the fleet once it is finished. The TSP would fall back from being in control of the Entire Space Fleet in operation, to just controling the Reasearch & Research ships, monitoring commecial satilites, and working with the Colonies.
