The Free Land of the Stonies have been watching with great fear more and more nations buying or developping Weapons of Mass Destruction. As we feel Mutual Assured Destruction is totally absurd a new program has been set up under supervision of the Stonies Civil Protection.


Thousands of fallout (fallout is radioactive dust created when a nuclear weapon explodes) shelters will be built in Stonieland, the parliament has just adopted a new law that requires that every structure have space below ground for the number of people that occupy the building above.
"People might find it laughable that we built such rooms, but if we are ever under threat then we will be heroes to our people" said Kurt Grimm of the Stonies Civil Protection Authority.
"The shelters were designed for all kinds of incidents, such as nuclear or chemical accidents, not just war"explained Juerg Balmer, also of the Civil Protection office.

There is something you have failed to state about your shelters, what sort of resistance can they withstand and from what distance? Also how long can 10K people remain completely sealed inside them?

Your population may well be safe frrom fallout with these public shelters but what about the blast? It's all well and good to say you have shelters but do you have the means to support them for an indefinate period?

the big shelter (which we sale) work practically as submarines and have a theorical complete autonomy of 2 years. The locations are secret and chosen far enough from the major blast sites, they can not resist direct blast.
the civilians shelter are more problematical. They are financed by individuals as nuclear shelter now are mandatory in Stonieland (as in Switzterland if you want more information). Most of them are tiny ones, in the cities, so rather vulnerable to blasts but Stonie Government is building some civilian shelters in the mountains. The idea is to give them a chance of survival, even slight.
We hope that we will never need any of these.

i'm afraid that the remmon lands engineers have found a major construction problem in your bunker designs

a bunker sitting at 100000 feet underground (30000m, we are a metric country after all) would have to endure temperatures of 300 degrees celcius higher then a similar bunker above ground, how do you suppose to dissipate such immense amounts of heat ?

not to speak of the immense pressure that would make construction at those depths extremely difficult
