Edolia believes that you are asking for far too much for your navy, tanks and helicopters and that a nation of your size has no way of keeping such a large force. However, as a fellow Socialist nation, we would like to send a total of 2 million HS-12 9mm side-arm pistols. Consider this a gift. We hope to have good relations in the future with you.

Thank you very much, and, after a brief discussion with our advisors, we decided we are asking for too much, thank you very much for the gift.

Here are some of the products of your required types, but we agree with Edolia

--Infantry Equipment--
M-29 ATAR
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-8/330069/Untitled4.jpg
Fully Compatible with M-16 Attachments (M-203, Bayonet, Scopes, etc.)
Based off of G-11-Fires very quickly in burst mode, so that the recoil usually doesn't affect the gun until after the 3rd round leaves the barrel
Uses 20, 30, or 60 round magazines of 4.5mm Caseless ammo.
$1000
M-68 Pararifle
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-8/330069/Untitled-2copy.jpg
A small, OICW like weapon, it combines a 4.5mm Carbine witha 20mm Caseless GL. However, the GL is a simple magazine fed semi-auto, allowing simple design and maintinance. 50 round magazines for the carbine, 6 round ones for the GL. Max range of 550 yds and 200 yds respectively.
M-29A2 and M-68A2
The USNE no longer uses the 4.5x30 round. We have begun using the USNE M6540 6.5x40mm Caseless round, availible in reverse ogives, SLAP, and other rounds types. However, a newer stronger propellant for caseless rounds has been developed, allowing less propellant to be used, so that size and capacity of magazines remains the same. The prices remain the same.
J-9 SMG
http://www.angelfire.com/d20/autumnblade/seburoj9.jpg
9mm ammo in a 72 round or 100 round "Calico" style drum magazine.
Fires single, 3 round burst, and full auto.
Uses HV-SLAP rounds for piercing armor, effective up to 360 yds.
J-76 Assault Rifle
The J-9s big brother, the J-76 fires caseless 7.62mm NATO rounds from a 100 round Calico drum magazine. Max effective range of 550 yds, and with it's .30 caliber bullets, it packs a punch.
M-37 Sniper Rifle
http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Fuji/3598/images/shirow/ultima.gif
The M-37 is New Empire's premier sniper system. This weapon fires 7.62mm Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot ammo, which consists of a depleted uranium sub-caliber round that easily punches through armor, but all 7.62mm rounds are accepted in it's 10 round magazine. It also features a recoil absorbing stock and a gyrostabilized mount. However, the real beauty of this weapon is its targeting system. The "Full Sensing" version (The standard version with a 12x Zeiss is pictured, but the "full sensing" scope is pictured to the above left of the rifle.) is equipped with a full spectrum, computer controlled targeting system which offers unparalleled accuracy. This system can see through walls as well as detect therm-optic camouflage. The "Full Sensing" scope must be interfaced with the sniper. Effective range of 900 yds
$3000
MG49 Squad Machine Gun
Based on the legendary FN Minmi and MG-3 series MGs, the MG49 has it's reciever in a bullpup mount, and can accept both 50 round 7.62mm magazines and belts of ammunition. Comes free with a conversion kit to 5.56mm NATO rounds, and a 5x Scope. Max effective range of 700 yds
$1500
K-5 Gasium Armor
http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Fuji/3598/images/shirow/k5.jpg
An armored body suit usually custom compartmentalized for the wearer's specific needs (sown in holsters for specific weapons and pockets etc...). The K-5 is made to be worn with BDUs underneath. Despite its bulk this suit is incredibly light and has no encumbrance penalty. It offers protection from most small arms fire, shrapnel, and fire from head to toe and is covered with a special rubberized coating to prevent clash and clatter. The suit will be custom fitted and compartmentalized to whatever the wearer's demands may be.
$1500
The M-396 ORC Power Armor
http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Fuji/3598/images/shirow/orc.gif
(Shown without helmet, and at the end of it's short "dressing" procedure)
While some might consider this to be in the wrong section, the ORC is arguably the most effective and easy to maintain power armor on Earth. With the design so easy, it can be maintained by it's user, and a full suite of sensors, the ORC is the choice for someone who wants more for less when it comes to infantry armor. With advanced acuators, the ORC triples the users strength, and with advanced albatives, hybrid materials, and more, the ORC can withstand a .50 BMG round chest hit, and .44 Magnum fire almost anywhere else. The ORC's advanced helmet sensors include NVG, Enhanced Optic, and IR, as well as Acoustic Sensors to monitor even the softest footsteps. Speaking of footsteps, the feet and joints of the ORC are layered with a special rubberized coating to make their movements unhearable to the human ear. It can be equipped with anyweapon that can be held by a person, guarunteed. And with all these features, an average ORC on the battlefield only needs user-maintinace once every 2 weeks, and only once every month from a mechanic.
Cost-$20,000

Cost-22 Million
Notes- The F-98 Maelstrom, while a very sucsessful fighter, was in need of replacement. The F-109 Tempest provided the best in manuverability, speed, and weapons. With 4 separate rotating canards, and vernier thrusters, the Tempest is a very agile fighter, and combined with the 30mm Rail Gatling Gun, is a force to be feared in dogfighting. With a very high speed, and advanced missile systems, the Tempest is an excellent interceptor. The vernier thrusters and thrust vectoring give it the ability to perform NVTOL (Can take off at 20 Degree angle). Already they are availible for export.

Honor Class Frigate
http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/trimaran/images/tri5.jpg
In a joint operation, the New Genoese Defense Department (NGDD) and the New Empire Military Projects Department (NEMPD) have announced the release of the "Honor" Class Frigate. Using a trimaran design, the Honor can hit 38 knots during the average weather (Recommended crusing speed in rough waters, or for maximum range on D/E is 20 knots), and uses underwater "thrusters" called azipods for sharp turns. It has a vitrually global range, due to it's Johannes/Cummings Pebblebed Reactor, a nuclear reactor that runs off a pebble with "onion" like layers of graphite and silicon wrapped around a fleck of uranium. Due to the layering, the uranium itself will never reach "melting temperature", and therefore, no run-away reactions. Helium coolant eliminates radiation leakage because helium can't transmit radiation. Backup consists of 2 diesel electric turbines.
WEAPONS-
9X4 cell VLS tubes. Used to launch a mix of SM series weapons, or Cruise missiles. Can be modified to fit your missiles.
2x8 cell tubes using the MAS-44 (Based of of Kh-35)
Guidance inertial guidance and active radar homing
Maximum range 230 km
Minimum range 5 km
Missile speed 580 to 500 metres per second
Altitude in cruise phase 10 to 15 metres
Altitude in terminal phase 3 to 5 metres
Missile launch weight 643 kg
1xForward mounted 155mm ETC cannon.
6x tubes for 556mm torpedoes. Recommended-STAS-6 ASROC Supercavitating Torpedo. Has capability to travel 1 mile in 1 second.
Has room for 1-2 ASW Helicopters (Or VTOLS for you future people) depending on size.
DEFENSIVE SYSTEMS-
ECM, ECCM
SRBOC Mk 36
AN/SLQ-12 Nixie torpedo decoy
Sea Gnat
2 RAM Launchers
Also, the "Honor" utilizes the "Athena" system, which identifies incoming radar waves, and sends out the proper signals to cancel them out. The ship is also coated with a layer or Radar Abosorbent Material.
FIRE CONTROL
The "Honor" Class Frigate uses the USNE MK VII "PuppetMaster" FCS. Each weapons system has it's own node, which can track up to 40 enemy ships or missiles at the same time. The node for the RAM systems can track up to 200 missiles of various sizes. The MK VII can also be linked to other MK VII ships, allowing them to coordinate attacks, and increase the awareness of the crew to threats.
Crew- The Honor's optimal crew is 95, including 2 ASW Helo teams, due to the automation of many systems.
Cost-$820 Million

Kotterdam

The Dominion of Kotterdam offers the USSF the following systems to compete for its requirements. For your helicopter order, we offer you Vega Aerospace Consortium's H-71 Python series.

UH-71A Python

The UH-71A Python offers an odd profile for a transport aircraft. It employs an attack-style cockpit and a chin-mounted weapon turret. As well, while the weapon systems operator can fly the aircraft from his position, he is more a gunner than a copilot. Extensively armed, the UH-71A is designed to perform overt or covert resupply, fire support, and medevac missions across a wide range of weather conditions.

Designed with a very redundant systems architecture, the UH-71A is extremely durable and reliable. Prime amongst the UH-71A's requirements was the ability to withstand the kind of damage that downed two UH-60 Black Hawks in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993 and crippled another. Although the armour carried by the helicopter has been increased, more powerful engines has resulted in an overall increase in airspeed. As well, the tail-rotor gearbox, the piece of hardware that was damaged and caused the loss of the two aircraft, has been shifted sligthly in location to reduce its vulnerability to ground fire. On top of all this, the gearbox has been redesigned to allow the aircraft to disengage and fly up to five miles before having to crash land.

The armour and the redundant systems architecture means the UH-71A is extremely resistant to small arms fire, as well as medium-calibre explosive projectiles. Moreover, an improved resistance to man portable surface to air missiles, like the Stinger, and improvised weapons such as the RPGs used in Mogadishu has been accomplished. While such weapons would still likely do catastrophic damage, the aircraft is likely to be able to escape to a safer location before systems failiure forces a crash landing.

While durability is certainly a laudable requirement, a transport helicopter is useless without a practical payload. The UH-71A can transport up to eleven fully equipped soldiers to and from their objective. It can airlift a 155mm howitzer suspended beneath it, and carry thirty rounds within itself. In short, it is capable of every mission the UH-60 was and, with the additional armaments and electronics, a few Sikorsky's designers never dreamed of for a multi-role, light lift helicopter. As well as its durability requirements, however, the utility version of the H-71 series had a requirement that it be cheaper than either the SH-71A or the MH-71A, a requirement it meets handily.

SH-71A Sea Python

The SH-71A Sea Python offers an odd profile for a transport aircraft, employing an attack-style cockpit with a radome beneath the nose where the gun turret is on the MH-71A variant. As durable as its parent helicopter, the SH-71A maintains exceptional ASW capabilities. It carries twice the payload of an SH-60, a result of the heavy weapons load it carried in the MH-71A configuration, and superior sonar. As well, an airborne radar and fire control unit allows it to perform anti-shipping operations using Harpoon ASMs and defend itself with a pair of Stinger AAMs. All in all, the SH-71A is an exceptional replacement to the SH-60 Seahawk.

MH-71A Python

The MH-71A Python offers an odd profile for a transport aircraft. It employs an attack-style cockpit and a chin-mounted weapon turret. As well, while the weapon systems operator can fly the aircraft from his position, he is more a gunner than a copilot. Extensively armed, the MH-71A is designed to perform overt or covert infiltration, exfiltration, fire support, and resupply missions for special operations forces across a wide range of environmental conditions, as well as CSAR and medevac missions. As such, the MH-71A is an extremely durable, and dependable aircraft.

Designed with a very redundant systems architecture, prime amongst the MH-71A's requirements was the ability to withstand the kind of damage that downed two UH-60 Black Hawks in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993 and crippled another. As a result, armour was thickened compared with that on the UH-60, although more powerful engines have resulted in an overall increase in airspeed.

The armour and the redundant systems architecture means the MH-71A is extremely resistant to small arms fire, as well as medium-calibre explosive projectiles.

The MH-71A can transport up to eleven fully equipped soldiers to and from their objective. It can airlift a 155mm howitzer suspended beneath it, and carry thirty rounds within itself. In short, it is capable of every mission the UH-60 was and, with the additional armaments and electronics, a few Sikorsky's designers never dreamed of for a multi-role, light lift helicopter.

Notes
As the final product of the long-running CVX program, the Dominion-class Nuclear Aircraft Carrier is expected to replace the long-serving force of Kitty Hawk-class Aircraft Carriers currently in service with the Dominion of Kotterdam.

Including several new systems, such as an advanced Jet Blast Deflector comprised of metal panels coated with heat-dissipating ceramic tiles similiar to those used on reentry vehicles, the new JBD will resist far greater levels of heat with far less maintenance. As well, the new integrated multi-function radar system will be far less maintenance intensive than the series of individual systems used on the Kitty Hawk.

Notes

Designed both to compliment the Shearwater-class of battleship, and to replace the aging Belknap-class guided missile cruisers already in service, the Bonadventure is a potent surface combattant. Between its arsenal of missiles and its pair of twin five-inch gun mounts, the Bonadventure-class is capable of devastating barrages of firepower, both against naval opponants, and in support of land operations.

As with all surface combat vessels designed by VanDoos Shipyards thus far, the Bonadventure incorporates low radar observability hull geometry and radar absorbant materials to reduce its radar crossection dramatically to the point where it is nearly invisible. As well, in a measure usually reserved for submarines, the inner hull is insulated against sound. The ship can actually sprint at 20 knots in complete silence, much like the best attack submarines. This, combined with the TACTAS sonar allows it to surprise submarine commanders by seemingly appearing out of nowhere to engage them. Coupled with its impressive stores of ASROCs and its Silverfish SCSG torpedoes, it is already building a fearsome reputation amongst submarine commanders without having fired so much as a single shot in anger.

Notes

Designed to support the new Amphibious Warfare Groups, the Vanguard is a potent surface combattant and a superb fire support vessel. Between its arsenal of missiles and its pair of twin 155mm AGS gun mounts, the Vanguard-class is capable of devastating barrages of firepower, both against naval opponants, and especially in support of land operations.

As with all surface combat vessels designed by VanDoos Shipyards thus far, the Vanguard incorporates low radar observability hull geometry and radar absorbant materials to reduce its radar crossection dramatically to the point where it is nearly invisible. As well, in a measure usually reserved for submarines, the inner hull is insulated against sound. On top of everything, the vessel incorporates both the Prairie/Masker (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/systems/prairie.htm) and NIXIE countermeasure systems. The ship can actually sprint at 20 knots in complete silence, much like the best attack submarines. This, combined with the TACTAS sonar allows it to surprise submarine commanders by seemingly appearing out of nowhere to engage them. Coupled with its impressive stores of Flying Fish ASROCs and its compliment of Silverfish SCSG torpedoes, it is already building a fearsome reputation amongst submarine commanders without having fired so much as a single shot in anger.

Unit Replacement Cost $937,500,000 ($9.375 Million)

Notes

Designed to compliment the Shearwater-class of battleship, the Tripoli-class Destroyer provides capabilities superior to those of the Arleigh Burke-class on which the requirement was based. Although physically a larger ship, the Tripoli gives enemies a far smaller radar cross-section thanks to the use of radar absorbant materials and low-radar observability hull geometry, much like her larger sister ship, the Shearwater. Likewise, her radar systems have been improved to include the same LPI mode as that of the larger vessel. The inclusion also grants it a superior ability to engage low-altitude and low-radar-cross-section targets. Although this capability is intended to be used against sea-skimming anti-ship missiles, there is some thought that its aptitude for targeting objects which grant only small returns could be used to engage stealth aircraft.

Notes
Highly automated, and equipped with a new type of propulsion system, the Kraken-class is the first entirely new design of SSN to serve in the DKN since its inception. Designed domestically from the ground up, the Kraken is a true predator of the deep. Extensive automation has reduced crew size while the length of the sub itself has gone up. This, along with efforts at micronization has created room for an extensive arsenal.

Weapons:
The Kraken makes no real innovations when it comes to weaponry, although its arsenal is impressive. From Silverfish SCSGs to the Hammerhead SLAM, the Kraken makes use of technologies debuted on other ships, when it comes to its offensive capabilities.

An extensive torpedo magazine grants it the capability to carry and fire sixty weapons, ten more than the Seawolf. The most common load is a mix relying primarily on Mk48 ADCAP torpedoes, with Silverfish SCSGs as a secondary weapon, and the Harpoon ASM for surface targets. VLS tubes forward and aft of the sail hold a full thirty missiles: Twenty Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles, and Ten Hammerhead Submarine-Launched Anti-air Missiles.

Sensors:
For the most part, the Kraken uses off-the-shelf sensor equipment. Most of its sensor systems are shared with the Seawolf- and Augmented Seawolf-class of SSNs. This was done on purpose to reduce the training time required for new crews, and to keep availability of spare parts high. Many of the signal analyzers have been replaced with miniaturized versions, but even those are off-the-shelf. The only purpose-designed component aboard the Kraken in terms of sensors is the AESARM-LPI Multi-Function Radar (MFR) from Longfield Electronics.

AESARM-LPI stands for Active Electronically Scanned Array, Retractable Mast - Low Probability of Intercept. For the past little while, LE has been doing a lot of work with both AESA and LPI systems, much of it mirroring and expanding upon work done by Ericsson Microwave Systems. This application, however, is a relatively new one: Mounting an ultra-compact MFR on a submarine. Done once before with the Avalon class, the idea is to grant a submerged vessel navigation, surface, and air search ability. This allows it superior capabilities to direct its missiles, both the Hammerhead and the Harpoon. Used primarily for firing the Hammerhead, the idea is to come to launch depth, extend the mast, snap off a missile, and dive, allowing the missile to home on its own.

Propulsion:
Here is where the Kraken truly shines. A new form of propulsion is in use aboard the Kraken, and is expected to find use in many future Dominion vessels. Utterly silent, even up to maximum speed, it grants the Kraken a serious advantage over other SSNs.

The new drive is known as a Ducted Superconducting Electromagnetic Propulsion (http://www.cs.arizona.edu/japan/www/atip/public/atip.reports.91/ship.html) drive, or DSEMP. It functions by using strong superconducting electromagnets to develop a strong magnetic field in the surrounding seawater. Current is then fed through the seawater to cross the magnetic field. This interaction between the magnetic field and the current generates electromagnetic force to propel the ship.

The DSEMP drive generates these magnetic fields in seawater running through twin ducts that pass from bow to stern. As well, a secondary external system runs along the keel in case of the failiure of the primary unit. SEMP drives have no moving parts, create no cavitation, and no engine noise. Combined with a new quiet nuclear pile, the Kraken is one of the most silent, if not the most silent submarine in service today.

As well, the DSEMP and SEMP systems are extremely durable. They are both capable of functioning, albiet at reduced capacity, with up to seventy percent of the drive rendered inoperative. With no moving parts, they are also very reliable, and require little maintenance. There is one weakness to the SEMP drive, however, and that is its vulnerability to detection by Magnetic Anomaly Detectors. MAD sets rarely fail to locate a ship operating a SEMP-based drive. However, the ocean is a very large place, and unless an enemy knows relatively where a submarine is operating to begin with, the odds of being caught by a MAD unit are low.

As well, you have put out a request for Armoured Personel Carriers. Although it is more accurately classified as an Infantry Fighting Vehicle, we would like to offer the Normandy for consideration.

Notes
Designed originally to meet a requirement put forth by Rimbauld, KMC's IFV-2 Normandy performed so well in tests that the design has since been adopted as the DKA's next-generation Infantry Fighting Vehicle.

Built with a highly modular design, the Normandy is capable of being converted from its baseline design to a Mortar carrier, a gun carrier, a command-post vehicle, an ambulance, as well as a minesweeper, engineer support vehicle, ARV, and dry, wet, and General Purpose logistics vehicles through the replacement of its componants and its entirely modular turret.

Although all fire-controls for this capable vehicle have manual backups, the primary fire function is highly computerized to allow first-round first-hit capability against enemy vehicles, even on the move.

As well, the vehicle's design allows most componants to be serviced by the crew without ever leaving the vehicle. In addition, The LPI Counter-Battery Radar System on the artillery variant allows the IFV-2 to detect incoming artillery fire, identify the most likely position of the enemy battery, and return fire to silence your opponant's guns, all while the enemy's first volley is still in the air.

Notes
Designed as a follow-on to the widely successful MBT-3A1, the MBT-3A2 is intended to succeed the earlier vehicle as the primary Main Battle Tank of the DKA. Designed with mobility in mind, it incorporates so many changes to its structural members that a direct upgrade is impossible. Rather, a whole new tank must be purchased. Its mobility objectives have been achieved, however. At exactly sixty metric tonnes, it can be carried from ship to shore by a standard LCAC without it having to use its overload capacity.

Weaponry:

The high calibre Electro-Thermal-Chemical cannon included in the MBT-3A1 has been replaced with a more reliable ETC stabilized in two axes with an improved autoloader. Rather than a standard solid propelant, the ETC gun uses an energetic liquid propelant, granting it a striking power far and away in advance of other more conventional cannons. The ETC cannon guarantees a kill against a target equivalent to an United States M1A2 Abrams MBT at ranges of under six kilometers with a single shot. Tests also prove that the 2nd Gen ETC cannon is capable of striking targets at a maximum range of eight kilometers, although lethality begins to degrade beyond 6.5 km. Ammunition available to the 130mm ETC cannon includes HE-FRAG, AP Canister, HEAT, RAKE-AT, STAKE, and APFSDS (Armour Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot) rounds. Maintaining a rate of fire of 15 RPM, the ETC gun is relatively slow firing, but packs a nasty punch.

As well, the main gun is capable of firing the new ATG-1 Mjolnir Anti-Tank Guided Missile. Known as the "Kermit" by the test crews for the odd "frog-hop" it executes in its anti-tank mode to attack the weaker top armour, the ATG-1 was developed in an associated project to be used specifically by the second generation Werewolf. Lethal out to its maximum range of 6.5 kilometers, the ATG-1 is a dual-mode weapon, capable of engaging low-flying air targets such as helicopters as well as other armoured vehicles. Equipped with a stand-off probe to defeat wire mesh and chain skirt defensive systems, the ATG-1 also employs a tandem charge with which to counter Explosive Reactive Armour.

On either side of the turret on the MBT-3A2 are mounted a pair of four-tube SPIKE-ER ATGM launchers. The four-tube launcher takes a definate hit in ammunition, but more than makes up for it with an eight-kilometer striking range and excellent targeting capabilities, as well as a tandem charge to improve its lethality.

As with the MBT-3A1, the MBT-3A2 uses a 25mm cannon as the coaxial weapon. The -3A2, however, uses the KBA manufactured by Oerlikon Contraves thanks to a deal struck with the Kotterdam Motor Company. A true advance, however, comes in the form of the commander's turret and that of the loader. The loader's weapon is the usual Fabrique National M240G MAG, but it is mounted in a Remote Controlled Weapon Station (http://www.rafael.co.il/web/rafnew/products/land-rcws.htm) manufactured by Rafael ADA. This allows the weapon to be fired by the loader without ever leaving the safety of the tank. If neccesary, it can still be unshipped and carried to give the crew additional firepower. As well, tank crews in the DKA carry the H&K MP-7 PDW in case they are required to dismount from their vehicle.

The commander's weapon is where the changes have really been made. As with the coaxial gun, the 25mm cannon has been exchanged for an Oerlikon KBA 25mm cannon. On the MBT-3A2, however, the 25mm cannon is not where it ends. The weapon is mounted in a OWS-25R (http://www.rafael.co.il/web/rafnew/products/brochures/OWS_25R.pdf), or Overhead Weapon Station, also manufactured by Rafael AMA. The OWS-25R employed by the commander includes the Oerlikon KBA, a modified version of the FN M240G also mounted in the loader's RCWS, and a pair of SPIKE-ER missiles. The OWS-25R can be operated both manually, and by remote. On the manual mode, the commander needs only stick his head out of the vehicle, leaving the rest of him protected by the hull armour. As well, the mount itself provides a degree of protection, leaving very little of even as small a target as the commander's head exposed

Defensive Measures:

Protection has been upgraded, with an advanced version of the layered ceramic/composite alloy armour employed in the construction. Stronger than chobham armour to begin with, this new armour, combined with the third gen ERA allows for survivability similar to the MBT-3A1 even at the greatly reduced weight, absorbing hits from 125mm cannons and the majority of anti-tank missiles. A close range shot with a HEAT or sabot round is still as serious a threat as always, however. A chain skirt protects the turret neck from attack from behind, while ERA blocks and increased armour thickness reduces the danger of attacks against the tank's top surfaces. As well, the tank's diesel engine is mounted forward of the crew compartment, increasing the likelyhood of crew survival in case of a penetrating hit from the front aspect.

The existing system of Microwave, Infrared, and Laser threat detectors was improved by the addition of improved all-aspect Microwave/IR/Laser jammers. As well, the composition of the aerosol "Smoke" grenades has been changed so that the cloud not only blocks line of sight visually, but it obscures infrared devices. While the enemy will certainly know that there is a tank somewhere in that cloud of smoke, it lowers the probability of a hit when they are forced to fire blind. As always with KMC-designed vehicles, the MBT-3A2 is equipped with a full NBC-rated life support system to protect its crew from environmental hazards.

The final protective system, however, is the most radical. Sledgehammer, an advanced version of the Triphammer Active Defense System incorporates improved target identification software, faster operation, and smaller, yet more effective charges. Essentially specialized 40mm grenades, they allow the tank to carry a larger number of charges. Like the Arena system, and the Triphammer system, Sledgehammer may be activated or deactivated by the commander, however unlike Triphammer, Sledgehammer not only functions in automatic mode, but manual as well, and may be used against infantry.

Fire Control:

The original fire control system on the MBT-3 and the -3A1 has been improved greatly to allow the tracking, targeting, and engagement of multiple moving targets, even fast moving ones such as helicopters while the MBT-3A2 is itself on the move. The targeting computer is linked into a sophisticated analysis system with an adaptive database that will even suggest an aimpoint and round type based on the past observed performance of similar targets in combat situations.

Equipped with a so-called AI similar to that in some of the more sophisticated computer games, the analyzer will actually learn the weaknesses of a specific type of target given enough exposure and is, of course, pre-programmed with the known weaknesses of many standard targets. Should the gunner become incapacitated, the commander may input a command to cause this analysis program to take over firing, with the commander designating targets, and the computer determining the best way in which to engage them.
