Kamsaki begins ABM system development

Kamsaki

The first wave of funds for the Republic of Kamsaki's Anti-Ballistic-Missile system has begun to flood in, despite fears that a falling economy could lead to price cuts. 40% of its military funds has been allocated to researching measures to combat Nuclear missiles and warheads, which has for the next economic year amounted to an estimated total of 75 billion Myu (a rough equivilent of $50 billion). Already rapidly-deployable interception missile sites have been put in place within the region of Kamsaki's capitol, Rakoji, and all other major cities within the nation itself.

Further research will include the use of satellite imagery to detect missiles from greater distances once our space programme has been implemented, the use of laser technology to eliminate ICBMs and other long-distance ordnance, mobile anti-nuke theatres and the addition of electromagnetic disturbance within counter-weapons to disable electronic guiding systems within a potential aggressor's payload. The Kamsaki government has also announced plans to build and maintain nuclear disposal sites on neutral territory.

Lastly, our delegate to the UN has issued a policy statement to the effect that we do not wish to begin an actual nuclear weapons programme of our own. We hasten to inform all that Kamsaki has not yet revealed its military capabilities, and has no immediate plans to instigate conflict with other nations. Rather, we wish to consult all nations with a similar attitude to defense for a potential technology-sharing session on ABM methods and equipment. As we hope we have made clear, the Republic of Kamsaki will spare no expense in the protection of our people.

((OOC: Umm... thus do I enter the fray of the International Incidents forum... :) ))
