CIVIL WAR IN ARAMAR!
Rebels fight the Aramarian National Army in Valaria;
Scores of Civilians die in mortar fire

Valaria, Federation of Armar - <CUT to reporter>In a shocking turn of events, the peace conferences between the Aramarian Liberation Front and the Aramarian National Government ceased today, and the first hostilities of what some fear will be a bloody civil war have begun. <CUT to image of a soldier firing into the mist> In the Aramarian city of Valaria, the rebels were driven back from a bridge over the Valere River, with light casualities. Government troops were expected to put down the rebellion easily, but sustained extremely heavy losses. <CUT to picture of wounded soldiers> Aramarian General Flavius Irae comments.
<CUT to the general speaking> "We were all mistaken in our estimation of the rebels' will to defeat our troops; we underestimated their firepower, and their tactics were, in a word, amazing. This will be a large war."
<CUT to picture of mortars firing> Rebel leaders were unavailable for comment. The head of the proposed rebel government is still unidentified; high-level sources say he is <CUT to archive photo> Anton Caleras, a socialist jailed during the Port Gretchen Riot in July 1995. Government forces have sealed the city off from the rest of the country, and there is a strict curfew in the streets of the city. <CUT to picture of silent docks> For the first time in nearly forty years, the busy docks of Valaria are silent. <CUT to picture of old woman in the rubble of her home> And for how long, no one knows.
