DNN News:
"Greetings fellow citizens of Dontgonearthere" A tall reporter with greying hair appears "In the village to my right" The camera pans "A new form of Nanotechnology is being tested, specificaly designed to recycle garbage, the dead, and other detritus of society, into useful elements, such as iron, copper and zinc." Three large trucks are seen driving down the road. "And the officials from the R&D department of GLACORP have arrived, and here" Again, the camera pans. "Is the test subject, the refuse of a slaughter house, it appears to be...mostly cow bits, I would encourage viewers with weak stomaches to look away."
The doors of the truck open, and three men climb out, one is very official looking, wearing a buisness suit, the other two are apparently military personel, carrying a barrle marked with several signs warning against tampering. The official speaks to the camera.
"Today is a new milestone in DGNT history, we at GLACORP have developed the ultimate recycling facility. Each nanobot is programed to seek out useful elements, as already mentioned, and return them to a designated area, though most organic waste is rather poor in such materials, the overall effect is tremendous, and non-industrial producs can be extracted as well, such as calcium, down to its purest form. Observe."
The two military men wave the crowd back, and, donning gloves, open the barrel, at once a stream of grey liquid looking stuff falls out, and evaporates like liquid nitrogen. After a few minutes, small piles begin to form, of various colors.
"As you can see, the individual elements are sorted, a few more minutes and the ent-"
There is a thunderous boom and static covers the screen.
Shortly after another camera flicks on, with a worried looking woman standing in front of it.
"This is DNN news, it appears that something has happened over at the test site, a large explosion, apparently. DGNT Soldiers have cordoned off the area and are not allowing anybody to enter or leave, the current esimated death toll is ten, three DNN news crew, a GLACORP official, and six DGNT soldiers, no civilians appear to have been harmed, more news as events occur"

Obviously this piece of nanotechnology is an untested beta version! :D (No offense)

Displaying the initial testing live was a bad idea. :(

The energy contained in the chemical bonds of organic material is more valuable than the minerals, at least if you aren't using a different method for gathering energy.

OOC: It wasnt the opening beta version, it was a well tested public display. There is, of course, a plot behind this, but if I told you now, it would rather spoil it, wouldnt it?
And yes Steve, we use antimatter generators, since negative matter is quite common to us (interdimensional mining, you might say)

Welcome back to DNN news, a new development in the small town of D'prees'in.
OOC: Same place as the first post.
IC:
"At around 1'oclock yesterday a large crowd of peasants gathered in the town square, and began hurling rocks and bottles at the government buildings and troops. Already ten have been arrested, and one person has been seriously injured when they were hit on the head with a bottle, this and many small bruises and cuts, seems to be the theme of the day."
The camera switches again, this time to the area in front of the town, where a small crowd is gathering.
"As you can see, the villagers have been gathering here as well, the local garrision does not seem, however, to be large enough to stop all of the rioters" Two or three people in the crowd notice the cameraman and start his way.
A light sweat breaks out on the reporters face. "Errr...." the reporter vanishes, and a distant 'back to you Judy' is heard.

"More news from D'prees'in, this morning, it appears more DGNT troops have arrived to quell the riots, tensions are high between the crowd of rioters and the line of troopers" Over the reporters shoulder the two lines stand roughly fiftey feet apart.
"Earlier somebody in the crowd found a supply of farm impliments, and the mob, as it now seems to be, armed itself with a variety of antiquated farm pariphenalia, as well as some torches, the DGNT troopers have set up barriers and are trying to find some way of putting the riots down without harming the crowds."
The crowd is obviously quite tense, the people in front seem to be trying to get to the back, while the people in back are trying to get forward, a few small fights have broken out. Meanwhile, in the front rank of the mob, a few of the rioters seem determined to get themselves shot. They both throw bricks and bottles, as well as insults, at the line of troops, a few minutes of this, and one of the troopers fires off a shot, almost straight up, this quiets the rioters for a while.

"Interesting development, here in D'prees'in, it seems that the rioters have suddenly become more....active...in their approach the the police, we are unsure what has caused this, but more bottles and stones are flying here, and" panning, a few zooms on individual rioters. A torch or two wavers in the air, and then, out of the crowd a flaming bottle appears. It turns over a few times in the air, and crashes, exploding, sending waves of fire over the two nearest guards and setting even more minor fires.
At this the police finnaly snap, one by one, it seems, they raise their rifles and begin firing at hip level into the crowd, the reporter is heard muttering 'Oh gods...Oh gods.....What! What are you doing? Turn the bloody camera off you fo-" (static)

Now the town is quite distant, a cordon of military personel surround it.
"Earlier today, a riot occured, during this time a protestor threw what was apparently a molotov cocktail at DGNT military personel, three soldiers have died from wounds inflicted by that attack, ten more in the riots. We have a report on the estimated casualites"
The screen flickers for a moment, then displays the totals, with the names listed underneath
