General news release in Platonic

With great celebration we are happy to proclaim our latest success in space travel. Yesterday at 4:07pm our first human astrotravelers landed after a succesful launch and 4 complete orbits of our planet. During their debriefing they told us they found the situation very exciting and wanted if possible to go again. They were chosen via a payed lottery from a total of almost our entire population and then trained for 6 months prior to the trip. We would like also to thank The Free Land of Garenthas for contributing scientists and engineers to this project. With their assistance we believe we are now ahead of schedule for our next trips.

In the 2 years since we sent our first otter into space we have made a great number of leaps in the space program and would like to extend our thanks to the people of Platonic. Without your hardwork and support this project wouldn't have nearly the success it's had. Remember we are working for the survival and future of this country! Your cooperation is appreciated more then words can truely communicate!

We do not have a current estimated time for the next stage of our space travels however the stated goal as I'm sure you are all aware is a Planet landing. Due to large number of people from other nations currently inhabiting the moon we were planning on trying for The Planet Mars. Although there are many nations there our information says that there may be more free areas to settle. We will likely enter negotiations on a potential future Mars landing point with the current settlers soon.

Francine Kobol
Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of Platonic.

Exetonia:

(OOC: According to the rule of starting date = modern tech I could have nuclear tech if I wanted, but I don't want it right now as it doesn't fit with my nation. Any other questions?)

(ooc ok it looks like I got the wrong idea from your post, don't worry, I have... "things" planned ;-) For the most part I'm doing a one real day = 1 ingame year. My apologies if I seem a little short in my reply.)

ooc: yeah, that's what we do except in rp's hehehe. Sorry for the confusion i cause, you go for it dude). IC:I would be quite happy to suply a small amount of uranium, a construction team and some engineers to show you how to use nuclear power then, maybe when your nation finds uranium, you can build your own. The cost will be around about 500 mil if your interested?

(OOC: Thanks for the encouragement :-) If you are interested in seeing the previous space faring thread for Platonic feel free to check out: http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86662&highlight=platonic )

IC:

While we appreciate Exetonia's interest and offer we have a strong no nuke policy in regard to power systems and weapons. We feel our enviroment is to important to risk at this point. Which is why our power systems are all as enviromentaly friendly as is currently reasonable. However please accept this collectable gift basket, you will likely find it's contents quite pleasing as they are some of the finest food products our nation provides.

Sincerly,
