Operation Dead Red: Bonstock's revolution (open RP)

Bonstock

Nozomi Station Air Force Base
26 October, 20??

A helicopter had just landed at the base, carrying aboard the last of High Command saved from the riots of Port Yuko. The Revolutionary Council had by now taken over control of the capital, along with a huge portion of the Bonstocknian population. More then half of Bonstock’s populace lived within 30km of the city’s center, many of them in small, crowded apartment rooms, mere housing projects in the bustling metropolis. The Revolutionary Council had already spread its tentacles around, taking over the airport and the extensive Yuko Military Complex, premier training ground for Bonstocknian forces. Most of Bonstock’s military was in Maropian Coast, awaiting a war with Japann or Dra-pol. As such, the remaining forces were forced to destroy anything of value so as not to let the Revolutionary mobs get it. Now, only forests stood between the remainder of High Command and conquest by the mobs wielding AK 47s and RPGs. Of course, this one airbase would hold on well. Defended by nearly 1000 Combat Vehicle 90s, the best Bonstock had to offer, they were likely to hold out until deprived of their one lifeline, constant flights of C 17s to and from Maropian Coast, bringing in fuel and ammunition. The Revolutionary Council had no way to stop this flow of supplies, having no SAMs or fighter aircraft. They had ordered an extensive amount, but were unlikely to have them soon. What they needed desperately were some SAMs, and they knew where to go. Late the past night, a Revolutionary agent slipped into Zecro, and, using false citizenship papers, got on a flight to Moscow to meet with Vladimir Putin of Russian Forces. The Revolutionaries knew that the new Marxist Pact would help them in their efforts, being that they had common goals, so the Revolutionaries said. They were also to sign the new United Socialist States of Bonstock into the Pact, and try to acquire SAMs and submarines to cut off the old regime’s supply of weapons, thus preparing for an eventual showdown with an invasion of Maropian Coast. Determined not to let this happen, the government started beefing up its forces, preparing its defenses for the bloodshed to come. They knew they too needed allies. Agents were sent all over to find suitable alliances to liberate Bonstock from the mobs which held on stubbornly. Neither side would give in. It remain undetermined what would happen next. Would this be the end of the Republic which had long held power? Or would it mean the squashing of an upstart mob? One thing was certain: millions of Bonstocknians were going to die in this struggle, which could go global, killing on a scale which would make the greatest nuclear annihilations of the past seem mere child’s play.

Revolutionary Council Headquarters
Port Yuko, Bonstock

A man sat down on this chair, which had once belonged to Bonstocknian President Hu Li, the young, naïve woman who had oppressed Bonstock to the limit, robbing the nation of its recources just like her “mentor,” the former President Charles Ste Evremonde. Both knew only how to make war and suffering, not knowing how to run Bonstock. This man who sat was determined to find a better form, to gain power over the “Council,” and bring Bonstock into a new era. Dressed in a Prussian naval officer’s uniform, he sat down, planning this new operation which he was to present to the Council. The he said he was to set off to foreign countries to get support for the upstart mob called the United Socialist States of Bonstock. This way, his ambitious operation would succeed, and the Bonstocknian race would rank over the world, free of its former oppressors.

The man had hair that almost matched his gray uniform. His shirt was tight fitting, and below, he held his old Lugar pistol, once an issue for Bonstocknian officers. His glasses were on the table, resting on a map of the Pacific Ocean, which had been drawn upon with the latest plans to be submitted to the council. An aide, dressed similarly, entered the room, and said in a thick German accent, “Sir, the Council is awaiting your presentation.”

“Very well, Leutnant. I shall proceed immediately,” the officer said, also in a thick German accent. He picked up his briefcase, and slapped it closed, tucking it under his arm. Then, walking straight as if marching, he picked up his baton and exited the room, heading for the main assembly room where he was to report to the council. He got up to the podium, and was introduced by the Head of the Council.

“Comrades of the Revolutionary Council, please welcome our military committee chief, Alfred von Strauswitz, here to introduce to us his plan for an upcoming operation.”

Standing straight and tall, he spoke, still in his German accent, “Comrades, I present to you a plan for an operation. This is to be the operation that will end the war with the old government. There are specific phases with which we must follow. It will take an incredible amount of recourses, but it will prove very successful I am sure. We have the manpower, we have the will power, and we will triumph in this endeavor. First of all, we must find suitable places to get our recourses. This is why I am going to personally go to Russia, where Russian Forces and their Marxist Pact are sure to help us greatly with manpower and supplies. We first need long range Surface to Air Missiles to destroy the government’s supply lines, forever evicting them from here. We need anti-tank landmines to protect our borders from mechs in case we are unfavored by authorities in Zecro. We need submarines and bombers and simply everything for a modern war. I am sure that we can gain this from the Marxist Pact and other Revolutionary alliances.

“Now, once we acquire the Surface to Air Missiles, phase one will be cutting the governments lines of supply to their bases. We will also send submarines into the East China and South China seas, to cut off Maropian Coast from supplies. We will deem the area around the island of Taiwan a war zone, and sink any ships with arms or supplies for the government. But to do this, we need a base. Maropian Coast is unfriendly towards Japann. Therefore, we will get Japann to lend us bases in the Ryukyus to support our operations under the waves. This will gove us an opperatunity to start Phase two.

“Under phase two, using bases in the Ryukyus, we will build up air power. We will try to destroy Maropian coast’s air forces, and secure control of the air. Then, this done, we will launch an all out bombing campaign against their factories and material. We will not let them produce anything. If anyone interferes, they will be bombed too. Meanwhile, we will preoccupy the enemy’s air force, so as to build up our ground assets in the Ryukyus. We will have armored divisions and amphibious ships stationed in the islands. Then, with the enemy forces exhausted, we will launch phase three, an amphibious invasion of Maropian Coast. Assault troops will take critical ports, allowing our armored divisions to be taken in. The shore is rocky, so we will need advanced air cushioned landing craft. But once the ports are taken, we will control the field. Phase four will involve mop-up operations and executing government officials. The war will be won.

“However, we will need enormous recourses for this operation. I estimate the cost at well over 1 trillion US dollars to raise, equip, and supply these forces. We will need a way of getting money, fast. I’m sure that the finance committee will work that out. As for now, the die is cast, the fate of Bonstock is now in the balance. Our actions over the next few months will determine whether our new order succeeds or dies at birth. It is in your hands now.”

The audience applauded loudly, except for one man, dressed in a trench coat and wearing dark sunglasses and a hat. He merely noted the entire plan, for to report back to friendly forces. The die was indeed cast. The Council voted overwhelmingly to commence the operation as soon as possible and to make the presenter, von Strauswitz, its commander. The fate of Bonstock now hung in the balance…

OK, first off, congrats to Bonstock for a pretty good RP so far. And for those of you who wish to know, I am a Russian. But I don't think the governement in the USSR was the best government, so you can't call me a commie. I prefer Democratic-Socialism. And just because I havn't RPd for a long time doesn't mean you can make fun of me. Also, under the current governmenet structure, Froogle Korgyz is in direct control of three countries, Zecro, Drug City and Hemi Cuda. My cousin stopped playing Naationstates and gave Drug City and Hemi Cuda to me. But for RP puroposes, the other two countries will not be involved, unless attacked. After this RP, I will break up this arrangment.

Also, this is a map of Bonstock, Zecro, HC, DC and two neutral countries. The slot in the supper-right hand corner is empty as is the center left-side country. Note Bonstock and Zecro have a common border.

http://www.islandnet.com/%7Edeannad/images/maps/Wysteria/isa.gif

I rule. o_O

Froogle Korgyz had been observing the situation in Bonstock and Taiwan. But now, with the involvement of Russian Forces, he finally agreed with his aides on helping Bonstock out of this stage in their development. He was getting tired of ruling three countries, as it put a large drain on him and Froogle secretley decided that he would retire from office and hold elections for diffrent leaders for each country.
The meeting was to be held in the Government Building in the capital of Zecro, Kazo, on the 180th floor, one below Froogle's living quarters. Evryone coming into the room was scanned and searched for any recording device.
After evryone had been seated, Froogle said, "It has come to my attention that the situation in Bonstock has come to a high point and Zecro's involvment is crucial to the survival of our long-term ally." Froogle had a brief remembrance of how Bonstock's first leader, Charles Marquis St. Evremonde and he had gone to the same politics school for a few years. They bonded like glue and after the formations of Zecro and Bonstock, the two countries have been in an unofficial alliance. He had half a mind to say "remember Evremonde!" but thought better.
A youg woman, head of the Civillian Defence Office spoke next, "We have been discussing this issue with each other and agree that something has to be done. We have planned a very good defensive strategy. We will set all the SAM on the skyscrapers in the three countries on full alert, place carriers on patrol in our waters and place ST-10 mechs on patrol around all foreign borders. We will halt all incoming foregners and keep tabs on them with special ID cards. We will keep the SDIs on full alert in the three countries as well. Burundi has an offensive plan."
Froogle looked at Burundi. The old General had been promoted to Supreme Army Commander a while back and had seen many wars. At least Froogle wounld'nt be retiring alone. Burundi said, "beggining the attack, we will send ST-10 mechs into Bonstock to establish a head. We will aid them with whatever air support necessary and we will also bring in water forces if we must. Later, we will send in ground troops to aid the assult. We will also send in tanks and other mechanized troops to aid the ST-10 mechs."

It's essentially a big mechanized walker. The new version TEN features the addition of a third leg and a top mounted arm, making it a mechanized walker with three legs, a torso and two side-mounted arms as well as a third extendable all-purpose arm that is meant to house an exchangable weapon, which is usually a machine gun, or it could help support the mech if two legs are blown off because if one leg is blown off, the mech losses mobility, but can still keep standing. The top arm can house whatever necessary and is not specified in the design. The missile interceptors are small missiles meant to be launched at incoming projectiles, be they RPGs, missiles or maltov cocktails. The interceptor function is automatic and is done by the computer.

Armament:
2 Machine guns (one in each side arm) with enough ammo for firing 4 RPS for 2 min although the overheat level is 1 min of strait firing
30 missiles (15 mounted in ecah side arm)
30 missile interceptors (housed in the torso on all sides)
1 interchangable hard point able to house another machine gun or 10 missiles
Armor:
4 CM steel
Power plant:
ECHFR system
Height:
20 M, without third arm; 25M with third arm

If you need more info, tell me. The smaller ST-9 mechs are essentially the same with only 24 missiles and 24 missile interceptors and two legs and two arms with 3 CM steel armor. These are used for smaller jobs and in more urban environments. The new ST-10s are heavy assult wariors.

To whomever this may concern,

We would like to know what weapons you have avaliable for sale. We are in need of many weapons, especcially artillary and SAMs. But there is one problem: The government declared war on you a long time ago, and unfortunatly no official peace treaty was ever signed. There was simply a peace treaty with Bonstock paying 250 billion dollars to Dark Terror for distribution among you and your allies. With the Bonstocknian economy in shambles, Bonstock devoted much time and recources into rebuilding its factories. Our arms exporters never recovered from the destruction of the factories, and many urban subsidized housing projects were destroyed, and it is believed that up to 5 million died in the projects, mostly poor immigrants. We ask that, if we give you a large enough order, you will pay back 300 billion USD, all of which will be used for rebuilding Bonstock after the war. With this, Bonstock should significantly help re establish itself after the war, and Bonstock's hatred towards Dark Terror will cease. Also, I would like Dark Terror to court martial the military leader who authorized the strike on a factory adjacent to crowded urban housing projects using too many bombers. You will be rewarded with a good ally who will be able to rebuild itself without going into debt. We can negotiate the rest.

The operation was slightly behind schedule. Operation "Dead Red" was about to be launched, but there were still no SAMs to down the cargo planes continuing to resupply the government traitors. Nevertheless, the Revolutionary Council had two fleets of submarines, around forty of tehm, along with two sub tenders. They gathered in the bay, about to set sail. A helicopter soon appeared. It decended from the sky, and landed on one of the submarine tenders. Five men in military uniforms walked out, and went into the control room. They observed that all units were present, and decided it was time to go. The submarines turned on their engines, and floated out of the bay into the open ocean. The sub tenders followed right behind. Their destination were the southern Ryukyus. A group of islands had been leased to the Revolutionaries by Japann, in order to defeat the government holdouts in Maropian Coast. The soldiers were jubulant, singing songs, getting drunk, and telling each other how they would be soon destroying all the capitalists and finally liberate allof Bonstock. They were indocterinated on how they had a superior cause and that they would triumph over the morally lacking oppressive government. Those who did not share this enthusiasm dared not speak. They knew the fate awaiting dissenters; being sent to a gulag deep in the mountains, or even simply being sent on a suicide charge only to be mowed down by machine guns. This was the world that all of these young men and women faced.

No SAMs? Am I to assume there are no anti-tank mines on your borders? This post would be an attack post, but I don't know if they are there or not. So this post just leaves off at the part where my mechs will breach your border. Tell me about your defenses. I must know! Doesn't having a behind-schedule operation show how ineffective your system is?
Anyways...

With Froogle's go-ahead, the three countries of Hemi Cuda (HC), Drug City (DC) and, most importantly, Zecro were placed under Complete Lockdown (CL). In CL, the only things allowed to exit/enter the countries was important cargo, Zecro citizens and Zecro armed forces. Anti-sub mines were placed around areas of low-traffic sea-travel and no ships were permitted to move through those waters. All other areas of the ocean were constantly patrolled by Zecro-built submarines*. All important skyscrapers activated their SAM sites (few buildings have them, it's only the higher ones with the top three floors reserved for SAMs). The old ST-8 mechs (bipedal walkers) were recalled to duty, armed with 2 machine guns and 24 SAM mssiles as well as 12 interceptors, and at least one was placed in each city to serve as a mobile SAM site and tank. Police officers had been lightly trained to operate them and special software (which was normally used in training) was put on the ST-8s that allowed for almost complete automatic functioning. Citezens over 25 were sent packets reminding them of basic sabotage and guerilla tactics they had learned in their compulsory two-year military training. Reserve forces were called in and the 5 million Zecrians that were to have finished their training in a one month were trained more rigorously as to prepare them for battle.

Meanwhile, 50 ST-10 mechs were making their way to the Bonsto-Zecrian coastline for the first clash of the war and the first effective battle test of the ST-10. All the mechs' third arm was equipped with a machine gun, as it was thought that Zecro's air support would be able to handle any air forces that were able to deplete the 750 SAMs loaded (30x25). It was also thought that there would be less than 750 tanks for the anti-tank missiles loaded as well.

And here are the stats for the subs. Oh, BTW, I know nothing about subs, so tell me if something is messed up. I suck. o_O It's supposed to be a small submarine.

Admiral Nikolai read the latest weather reports on the bridge of his flagship, the HNS Kirov (The Aircraft Carrier). The reports looked good, clear sailing the whole way. They had finished loading everything in the transports about 3 hours ago and now his fleet was a few miles away from Hattian shores. He turned to his Communications officer and said "Notify the Russian Forces to not fire on us.", "Yes Admiral."

An intelligence officer got on the phone with General Alfred von Strauswitz, now steaming towards Maropian Coast with 36 Los Angelas submarines. The General was informed of the events in Zecro. Immediatly he decided to fly back in his helicopter, and make sure that there would be no Zecro penetrations. He'd deal with Maropian Coast when he had deflected any attack from Zecro. Meanwhile, government special operations forces continued to harass rebel supply lines. Strauswitz knew that only in defeating them could he attain his full powers. One of his representitives, Colonel Manfred von Lugar, was sent immediatly to Russian Forces in order to procure enough SAMs to cut off the goverment commandos and keep Zecro at bay, in case of an invasion.

So that's it. No mines. Post your defenses on your borders. I want to kill stuff. Also, remember that I have subs in patrol and Anti-sub mines. Any unidentified forces will be fired upon regardless of anything. Where is Nozomi station located? Is it in the central Bonstockian mountain range, or on the one that stretches to Kanaz and The Steppe? And whatever happened to Mrquis St. Evremonde? Is he at Nozomi station too? If you don't post defencees you have there NOW (not JUST getting there) I will assume you have NO defenses and advance on you at will.

The 30 ST-10s have been transported to near the Bonsto-Zecrian coastline by railroad. The railroad had been cut off by Bonstockian revolutionaries as to prevent Zecro trains from aiding Bonstockian capitalists. But the track did exist in Zecro and was utilized by the military to ferry forces to the Bonsto-Zecrian border. Now, all that was standing between Zecro forces and Bonstock was a chain fence.

Admiral Lockhart glanced at the report on his desk and sighed. He reached across the desk and picked up his phone. He dialed 111-5555 and waited for a response from the other line. A man with a heavy ruff accent answered the phone "This is Colonel Brooks, what is the situation? Lockhart answered "Communists have taken control of Bonstock, and are driving the last of the capitalists out of the country. We need to do something about this.......... What would you suggest Brooks?" Brooks answered swiftly "I suggest that we deploy a tiny fighting force to aid the capitalists. The force would be so small that 10-15 C-135 cargo planes could transport them to Bonstock. However this must be a secret, we don't want the communists to realize that we are funding capitalists and start a all out war".

While the Sozian president was doing it's work out in it's private gym. A fat small guy walked to him, at first he did not see clearly who it was. When he came closer he saw it was the Secretary of External Affairs. "What are you doing up here so lately?" asked the secretary "I'm doing my daily exercise the President needs to be a good healthy example for his people" Said the president. "Yes of course" answered the secretary "But now we must come back to discus something serious, rivarly has broken out in Bonstock. Many men and woman are fighting for their freedom against the oppressive government. Yet they are lacking support and they are being slaughtered so that is why RF decided to send forces to link up with the revolutionaries. So should we do something?" "Liberation of the dictatorships is highly important for the world and our national security, order the secretary of Defence to mobilise a group of 2500 medics, 25 tents, 3 LCAC Hovercraft and 100 Jeeps, make sure all can be used as mobile ambulances. telegram RF and ask him if he can use our assistance"

OK, first, these forces could not be near the Bonsto-Zecrian coast, because my forces are right threre. I was waiting for Bonstock to post defenses, so I would know what I had to fight. Don't get too ahead of yourself. You can land, as long as you land on the north-eastern coast of Bonstock. Again, if there are no defneces posted by Bonstock in his next post, I will attack without resistance. You can land, just not by my forces, as they would have attacked if Bonstock had posted defences. I specifically said that you can't ship forces there for that particular clash. So...yeah.

We cannot allow the red to take over the majority of the world...... that is where you men come into play. You are to damage any important communist structures, and destablize the goverment. This includes but is not limited to assassinations, bombings, suprise attacks, and propanganda. If all goes as planned we will be out of the country in 1-2 months. Alright the debriefing is over, get to your positions and begin the board the C-135's. A squadron of F-35's will escort you to Bonstock incase of a interceptor threat...... Dismissed."

OOC: OK, it's quite simple. Zecro has decided to intervine, and we have sent 30 ST-10 mechs to the shared border between Zecro and Bonstock. I havn't posted an attack thread because Bonstock has not posted his defenses in the area. My forces are just on the border and all I'm waiting for is to know the enemy forces so I can RP an attack. [b] 50 knots off the Maropian Coast:[b]

Slowly, an E-2D Hawkeye flew in a great circle on its patrol route. It was flanked by 3 F-14C's, in a triangle around the Hawkeye at roughly 2000 feet higher altitude. The forces were attached to the Lake Erie carrier battle group, which had been sent there roughly a week before as a response to possible attack on one of Thirtycaliber's allies from the bloody Nimbatan civil war. Anything that came inside a 300 mile radius of the group on the surface would almost certainly be spotted by the Hawkeye's massive radome, and hence be vulnerable to attack. If the situation escalated, forces could be rapidly deployed to Taiwan from their positions in Nimbata - it would take less than a day - while reinforcements steamed from Thirtycaliber's homeland.

Outside of the battle group's surface ships, the 5 Seawolf-class attack subs that were part of the CBG patrolled for close in threats while 5 more Seawolves of the Coral Sea hunter/killer group patrolled roughly 50 knots out. This group was made up of 5 subs with veteran crews with battle experience against Kahtan's well-trained navy a few months before.

ooc: Sorry for not posting in such a while.

anyway, defenses along the border are thousands of mines and a bunch of guys with AK 47s and RPGs. They're also making "mech ditchs;" tranches designed to trip and temporarily disable mechs. There are also a bunch of anti personnel mines, which will make a mess of a mech's foot and make it worthless until repaired.

As for the guerrillas, they now control most of the mountain areas, where Nozomi Station is located. The terrian is very rough, and the area is littered with government snipers manning machine guns. Supplies are carried on HMMWVs or sometimes on donkeys. Mortars are common on both sides, and most of the fighting now taking place is mortar fire exchanges. The guerrillas have taken to creeping up, firing a few mortar rounds at a rebel base, and fleeing before guys with AKs and RPGs come in pickup trucks, which the rebels use often. Helicopters are seldom seen on both sides; the government has some, but most are either scuttled, evacuated or hiding in remote facilities only able to make a few missions due to lack of fuel. Aircraft are also unused, save the C 17s constantly flowing in supplies to Nozomi Station, which boasts two whole mechanized divisions used as reserve forces in case of attack. Most other units are restructured for guerrilla operations.

So did Russian Forces land in Bonstock proper or Maropian Coast? It would be rather silly to have an invasion of Maropian Coast, as it is defended by hundreds of thousands of well trained and heavily armed troops. Now active are some 100 Interim Brigade Combat Teams (Stryker Brigades), along with 14 armored divisions with Leapord IIs MBTs and CV 90 IFVs. At least 3,000 aircraft patrol the skies every day. There are no rebel guerrillas, and anyone suspected of anti-government activities is executed swiftly. The navy is strong and active, with two arsenal ships and about 100 destroyers of various types, and thousands of support vessels. As for beach defenses, barbed wire, anti tank defenses, mines, machine gunners, big howitzers, and mobile anti ship missile launchers disguised as commercial trucks are a common site. Not to mention the shore is rocky and jagged, almost immpossible to land at without LCACs. Aircraft are mostly disbursed among major highways, hidden in the forests. There are many JAS 39 Gripens, along with a few MiG 29s, Su 30s, and F-38 bomber interceptors. Some units are recieving the still experimental F 40, which is based on the Boeing Joint Strike Fighter design which failed against Lockheed's design.

Now back to the RP

IC:

The sun set quietly over the Bonstocknian penninsula, fading gently over the Nozomi mountains. In Port Yuko, all was quiet, quite unusual for this once vibrant metropolis. Pickup trucks carrying soldiers with RPGs and AK 47s were almost the only traffic in a city once choked by automobiles of every description clogging the city that nearly 400 million people called home. Lights were out, as an enforced blackout, mostly as protection against mortar fire from the government forces in the hills beyond. All along the jagged coast, armed men keeped a constant vigil, waiting for an invasion that they hoped would never come. Their main fear now was a government mortar round. Thankfully for the rebels, Russian Forces had landed troops near Port Yuko, which would be used to help the rebel war effort. They though maybe this could exterminate the government threat. Along the Zecro border, troops continued to build traps for ST 10 mechs, knowing that they wanted to disable, not destroy the mechs. By disabling them, it would take time and recources from Zecro to repair. If they were simply destroyed, Zecro could do nothing, and would expend no more recources trying to repair it. With them simply disabled, rapair troops that could easily be given rifles and sent to the front would be tied down working on damaged ST 10s.

In the government held mountains and forests, the calm of the night was interrupted by a few mortar rounds and machine gun firings. The orchestra of death played its mournful overture to the mass murder to come. Already, plans were underway on both sides to end the war with swift invasions. This was well on the mind of one man, a supposed "repair man," who bugged the Revolutionary Council. He now was running to friendly lines, to tell about the news of an operation they called "Dead Red." If this operation suceeded, all hope of a free Bonstock would be lost. Maropian Coast would be unable to provide materials to the beleagured guerrillas, and the government would be cut off, to be destroyed by Russian equipped kin. Rushing in, he was stopped by two guards. He said a secret password, and the guards took him to another pair of guards, who took him to the next chain in the trail, and finally to the airbase at Nozomi Station. The guards had expected the man, as they knew he brought news which he must discuss with High Command. The man was interrogated briefly, to make sure he was no imposter, and then was led blindfolded into a bunker deep below the surface. They entered a room, where he was allowed to take off his blindfold. Quickly, the man took from his pockets a slew of documents, stamped "Top Secret." He handed them directly to the President of the Republic of Bonstock, Hu Li. She took the documents, examined them closely, and dismissed the spy. Then she passed them around the table, to be read by the generals of High Command. They all understood the scope of the rebel operation called "Dead Red." They knew there was only one option: Deny the rebels of bases in the Ryukyus. Already ships had picked up signs of a large submarine force present in the Sakishima Islands, the southernmost of the Ryukyus. High Command started discussing thier plan to destroy the rebels. Some thought a simple invasion of the Sakishimas would end the job efficiently. But some wanted to wait, not offend Japann, though they were nearly at war with that nation, and an arsenal ship was waiting for orders to attack Tokyo with salvos of cruise missiles. They wanted the rebels to build up forces, and then, with a stronger force, cut the rebel islands off from resupply using their fleets. Then they would invade the Sakishimas, and completly destroy all of the rebel's modern equipment. This would pave the way for a swift Maropian liberation of Bonstock using amphibious ships purchased from Free Rumania. Hu Li seemed to favor the second option, along with former President and now Fleet Admiral Charles Ste. Evremonde, who reassumed his naval commision after retiring from the Presidency and being kidnapped temporarily by Sniper Country. One of High Command's leaders, he was now subordinate to a young woman who used to be his Secretary of Foreign Affiars, and who had a brutal reputation as an assasin with the Bonstocknian Special Services (BSS) which controlled most of the guerrilla operations now underway. General Robert Lung, an Air Force bomber pilot, was the leadr of High Command's air forces. As of the current time, a few BSS agents with ranks in the Bonstocknian Army controlled the land forces of Bonstock engaged in guerrilla operations. A separate command was in Maropian Coast, where there was being assembled a force called the "14th Army Group." This one unit would command all of the forces earmarked for Operation "Ocean Citadel," the invasion and liberation of Bonstock. Though a seemingly unstoppable force on paper, it would be worthless if the rebels could harrass it from the Ryukyus. Therefore, High Command shifted attention to defeating Operation "Dead Red" before it came to threaten Bonstock. The clock started ticking, and the noose began to tighten over Bonstock. When the clock rang twelve, the whole nation would go to hell...

Oohh... spooky ending... no doubt inspired b the french revolution if I know Bonstock. And I'll just make stuff up for the mech ditches, because there can't be THAT many yet, my force has not stopped, I was waiting for defense forces to be posted. Is nozomi station located in the Great Western Divide mountain range? (thanks to The Steppe for naming it...) I am working on drawing a full-scale picture of an ST-10 mech... i'll be about 4 pieces of paper big... but then I'll re-draw it to be on one sheet. Meanwhile, I'm making a website and trying to do a whole bunch of things at once, so it might take a while. But I can always draw during LA/SS in school...
But seriousy...

50 ST-10 mechs were making their way to the Bonsto-Zecrian coastline for the first clash of the war and the first effective battle test of the ST-10. All the mechs' third arm was equipped with a machine gun. The force was divide in half, groups alpha and beta, where alpha was loaded with 750 SAMs in total and beta being loaded with 750 SSMs in total. They were escorted by one ordinary-looking truck to serve as mobile command that was to stay behind on the Zecro half of the border and guarded by a 10 guys with Kalashnikoffs.

"Groups alpha and beta, you are cleared to move into Bonstock, Over."
"Roger that, command, Over."
"Loud and clear command, Over."
The two froups moved in with beta leading the group and alpha following. Both groups were on high alert. They passed nearly half a kilometer when an explosion shook the forest. One of the mechs had managed to stumble onto a patch of anti-personnel mines, essentially blowing off the lower half of the leg. All the other mechs stopped, for fear of stumbling onto more mines.
"Command, I'm hit! I've hit an enemy mine field!"
"Roger that, stand ground and open fire at any enemy forces approaching."
The mechs stood their ground. Suddenly, one of the mechs' sensors detected an incoming projectie that was neutralized by the interceptor. It turned out to be an RPG, coming from the forest.
"I am under fire!" said the pilot and a few surrrounding mechs opened fire with SSMs onto the area from where the RPG came from. The explosions cleared a 10 Meter diameter clearing in the forest. More fire was endured from other places, with all RPGs being neutralized a few second before hitting. Some guys with AK-47 opened fire on the mechs, met with return mechine gun fire from the scounting party. The downed mech was the one recieving the most fire.
After ten minutes' worth of fighting, the fire ceased and the mechs were left in silence again. Home base sent in a helicopter to bring the downed mech back for repair. The other 49 mechs were re-supplied with two trucks escorted by two ST-8 mechs.
The first battle went to Zecro. It was unclear to whom the next battle was going to because Command was sure more forces would come to the area. The mechs were not moving from their spots. A minesweeping team of 20 people was dispatched to the area, which would arrive in a few hours and would not sweep the mines until the next batte was fought.

But Nozomi Station isnt located in the Western Divide. It is located in the Havlo Range, which is the mountains in the center of Bonstock. Most of the guerrillas are there.

"General Strauswitz, Zecro mechs have attacked us on the border!"

"What? Send and emmisary, parahps we can stop this!"

"Diplomatic channels are closed. I dont think we can."

"Very well. Zecro's mechs are very advanced, so they will take a while to knock out. We need to send in at least 50 of our infantry divisions instantly. That will kill the offensive and knock them out soon. Order 2nd and 5th Army Groups to head south to the border now. Then we may have a chance at beating them."

"They will have approximatly 600 miles to travel. That will take a while."

"We cant take any chances. We must destroy the offensive now. The the army groups can swing north to overrun the government in their mountain hideouts. Finnally, we can focus on our main operation. I want this done within 10 days. I will personnally oversee the battle."

"Yes, mein General."

ooc: A motorized division contains a force of 12,000 men, transported by pickup trucks. Each pickup has an RPG and a machine gun, and a squad of infantry. They also have about 72 105mm howitzers and an assortment of mortars.

Tank divisions are much larger. With about 300 tanks, they have about 18,000 men. They are packages purchased from Chain Smoke Jaguar. Look at his package storefront for more information. The rebels have six of these divisions, along with 4 of his sub groups, four of his amphibious groups, six of his transport ship groups, and 15 of his composite air wings.

What a shame it's located DEEPER IN... I was thinking I could liberate the base and what not... but it seems I'll have to liberate most of Bonstock before that. It's not much of an offensive, more like a scounting group... We'll have to TG each other to get a planned outcome on this battle. You wouldn't dare attack my mechs with air... no you won't...

And you're right. Those mechs are advanced, big and fully loaded. I only have about 10,000 of THOSE ones... since they cost so much, but the cheaper and less loaded ST-8s outnuber the ST-9s and ST-10s by about 2x. But they are less loaded and not for use as big stationary things with three machine guns in the middle of a forest... even big MOVING things in the middle of the forest.

This is more or less of what the ST-8 looks like, without the sharp nose and with larger arm-things, but with nearly the same ammount of ammunition if you add 12 little circular things around it for the intercepotors. [BTW, this is a Raven mech.]
http://www.kerensky.tierranet.com/btech/mechlab/mchraven.gif
The ST-10s have essentially the same lower leg (it is a larger 3-point leg), but the upper leg is joined to the body with a socket-and-ball joint and is not like a < shape, but more of a > shape. They are attached to the roughly circular lower body which is three times as tall as the raven's head, without the sharp nose. The arm-things are significantly larger, with the two machine guns below the shoulder-like square rocket-launcher things that can be rotated in the X and Y coordinates, so that they could face forward, up/forward, up, up/rear and rear. The rocket-launching thing can fit 15 missiles on each shoulder. There is only one machine gun on each side. There are 5 side-mounted interceport ports on each side, 10 rear ones and 10 front ones. The thing on the top is just a ball-and-socket joint that has full rotation to which can be attached an arm for support if it is to be knocked backwards, a machine gun, mortar (not missiles for THAT purpose...) and even a minesweeper or a radar. It's like a USB port, if you kow what that is on a computer.

More or less like this one i found after I wrote all that *sigh*
http://www.kerensky.tierranet.com/btech/mechlab/mchturkina.gif

I'll see if I can draw it NOW... but I don't want you getting false ideas.

I've babbled enough!

Meanwhile, in Zecro, the main items produced were Missiles, ammo and ST-10 mechs as well as food. The missiles and ammo ordered by the government created many new jobs which were quickly taken up by the poorer people and the demands were met. Stockpiles were made in odd places, including the big gray military storage buildings in cities and in remote areas and military bases. The 10,000 ST-10s that were ordered would take nearly a month to fill, even with all factories working overtime. The trillions of dollars stockpiled through the years were being spent without second thought. Food was being imported to create stockpiles as well, in case of an invation that the people hoped would never come. Many new mech pilots were being trained and special forces troops alongside them. Traditional weapons such as fighters, destroyers, subs and kalashnikoffs were also produced to accomadate the 2 million troops being called back to duty. New mech pilots were especially important, because in some cases, the mech can be re-built even if the pilot is killed in the cockpit.

By orderes of Froogle, 25 mortar-equipped ST-10 mechs were sent to the feild in bonstock to stay behind the machine-gun equipped ones with the SAM equipped ones to provide cover. 20 gasoline tankers full of water (ECHFR system, remember) and 20 trucks loaded with ammunition (who were still inside Zecro) were sent to the border, guarded by ST-9 mechs. The immediate area around the mechs was minesweeped in a matter of a few hours, the destroyed mines plotted on a map of the area and analysed for patterns. Most of the mechs have been standing in the same place, more spread out though, with a little more comfort, knowing that they wouldn't just blow up on a few mines. The 25 mortar ST-10s would arrive within 24 hours by railroad. Zecro had successfully established a beachhead .5 KM in enemy territorry.

Eeptopia will not officaly get involved, but we will attack anyone that makes a direct strike on Russia.

OOC: I want to use this as an opprotunity to flex out my puppet nations of Eepatin and Free Eepatin. Here is a quick history of them:

When Eepatin was formed, it was a proud United States-like Democracy. However, a communist group of military radicals overthrowed the main government and made it into an oppresive Empire. This war was only a month long. It was savage, and is know as the Revolution. Two years later, in a military strike, the so called "Free Eepatins" led a strike and broke away. This war was longer, and settled into a stalemate after two bloody years. This was known as the "War of Secession". Eepatin has a stronger, more advanced army, and kept most of the military during the War of Secession. However, Free Eepatin has much more manpower, and they have excellent Generals. Otherwise, they are mostly equal.

So basically, I won't use Eeptopia, but rather these two countries will join opposing sides, kind of like The Great War: The American Front (a great Harry Turtledove novel). Expect me to post more soon.

Having heard of the recent mechanized assault on territory recently liberated by Revolutionary Council, Alvarezistan's military forces have prepared a airdrop of supplies and weaponries to help the Communists repel the invasion attempt. Contained within the crates, paradropped at high altitudes over communist help territory, are 2000 heavy anti-tank mines; not powerful enough to destroy a mech outright, but with enough explosive force to heavily damage legs and possibly throw the vehicles off balance and cause them to fall. Additionally there are over 600 RPG-20's, Alvarezistan built improvements on the original models with electronic sights and heat-based homing capability. The planes themselves are, of course, unmarked, and the donation is simply dumped on rebel positions as close to the front as the aircraft can get without getting shot down, but their contents betray their benefactpr; no one else makes the RPG-20, and few have it in substantial quantities.

Ah yes, the plot thickens... I don't suppose you'd want to airdrop those mines on ME, would you? Dumb question. Anyways, they DO have three legs for all-terrain maneuverability and the explosion of a mine would cause recoil, so that the mech would be recoiled backwards, even without it's leg, so it has a few seconds to recover before falling, if the third arm is an ARM, but it usually never is unless it's a quick foray into enemy territorry for purposes of recon or hit and run raids.

Can you please define RPG-20? I mean, what's so diffrent about it?

And no one is gonna attack Russia, I think it's sorta Maropian Coast, Guerillas and I against Russia, Bonstock revolutionaries and a whole bunch of other people, so we're outnumbered anyway. The one advantage I have is a shared border with Bonstock

OOC: I thought I already explained, but OK.

Ordinary, RL RPG-7s are dumbfire weapons. Point the rocket launcher, and it will fire it's single anti-tank round in a straight line. Very simple.

The 20 contains a computerized sight allowing the shooter to select a specific target and a specific area for the missile to impact with a tiny, built in numerical keypad.. useful against mechs cause you can select a vulnerable area such as joints, cockpit or weaponry. The sight utilizes both heat tracking and shape recognition technology, allowing it to track heat emitting sources and also recognize helicopter, mech, or vehicle shaped objects even if they give off no heat (i.e., they're parked or something). It can also be shot straight without guidance on the fly, of course. The disadvantage is it loses the original RPG-7's simplicity and the computerized system makes it more expensive, too valuable to be field disposable, and thus in need of periodic repair and maintenance.

Along the East Coast Highway

The thousands of pickup trucks move down the highway. The highway has now been closed to civilian traffic, helping to increase its use for the military buildup in the area. All along the way, more troops in their pickups are racing towards the Zecro border, in an effort to stabilize the border before Zecro can invade. Assuming that there will be no prolonged border conflict, they are then to swing north, into the Havlo mountains, in an effort to destroy the guerrillas before they can be a serious threat. Then, the Revolutionary council would be free to attack Maropian Coast, and finally complete the liberation of Bonstock from its tyrant leaders.

---As Maropian Coast---

The guerrillas watched from a ledge as the immense convoy moved about. They decided that they could not stand for this. The convoy must be harrassed at all possible areas. High Command ordered an operation to harrass the convoy. Night fell, and the rebels trucks came to preprepared rest spots along the highway. As the night fell, guerrillas decended on the road, mining the road as they went, leaving booby traps and rope traps, in an effort to delay the advance of the rebels. At 11 o'clock, mortar rounds were fired at the rest stops. The rebels fired howitzers into the mountains, killing an estimated 63 guerrillas. The guerrillas then left snipers with machine guns along the road. They were to fire at any engineers clearing the minefields ad booby traps. At five o'clock, the guerrilla trap was finally set. The sun rose over the ocean, and headed over the island of Ida, where Bonstock was located. Pickup trucks started to go, driving down the road. Then, the trap sprang shut.

---As Bonstock---

The pickup trucks went straight into a field of mines. Several trucks were destroyed, throwing their troops out, and exploding. Machine guns fired, picking off many of the troops. Some of the soldiers rushed into the bushes, trying to find the machine gunners. Mortar rounds hit, killing many of the men. The rebels fired mortars back, in an effort to delay and destroy the enemy advance. Then, a charge of guerrillas came from out of the bushes. Bitter hand to hand fighting ensued. Infantry tried to distract the guerrillas as engineers tried to clear the traps and mines. From his mobile command truck, von Strauswitz oserved the adction with binoculars. He looked around at the rebel attack. Then he ordered five divisions to dismount from their trucks, and retreat along the road. Then they were to maneuver around the enemy, in an effort to outflank the guerrillas. Then, von Strauwitz decided to use a secret weapon: 18 captured Apache helicopters, which he decided to use against the enemy ground forces. Though he knew a single RPG shot would knock them out of the sky, their firepower was much needed. They took off from their base near the headquarters, and headed for the hills.

Smith was watching television one day, watching the protests in Port Yuko, protesting the government's unwillingness to help the common people. The protests grew rowdy, and the government responed with a TOW missile. It was fired at point-blank range, killing hundreds of protestors. Blood was everywhere. People were cut in two, some with holes through them, many innocent bystanders. Government forces opened fire, attacking innocent protestors. No ambulances came. Then, a bomb went off at a national arsenal. Rioters entered, carrying out AK 47s and RPGs that Bonstock had stockpiled long ago. They used them to break through government lines, and stormed the government offices. Several helicopters evacuated the government leaders, but the guards were all executed, along with most government officials found. By this time, Smith had taken his revenge out on the government. He gathered a mob of fellow workers, and stormed the government buildings in his town. Wielding knives and pistols, wearing t-shirts and jeans, they killed two government officials. They then moved on to sieze an army airfield, where Smith met his never used Apache. He and his friends found manuals, and learned to fly them. Smith was the pilot of a small utility helicopter, so he knew how to fly it. Now, he flew it into battle, trying to win a war. He waited behind a hill fo rhis chance to strike.

Green two was Smith, and his weapons operator, Burt Rogers. They climbed up a bit, where they could see the carnage below as Bonstocknian fought Bonstocknian. They then realized how far away they were from the rest of the group. They were deep in enemy territory. Out of ammunition, they were helpless. Smith climbed upwards, trying to find the group.

"Green two to Green 1, we're lost."

It was another day at work. He would see which traffic lights were down, listen to the phone call of another person complaining about gridlocks. He sipped his coffee, and switched on his computer. Another early morning into work. He sighed as he wondered how many decades until he could retire. His phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Is this Joe Mantraski?"

"Yes."

"Well, you listen here. I don't know what you do there, but you haven't got that damn pot hole fixed yet!"

Joe sighed heavily. It was going to be a long day. "M'am, we are going to fill it, hopefully today. We have alot of other things do to here."

"Like what? Buy more coffee?"

Joe tuned the woman out as he heard talking. Suddenly Fred ran into his cubicle.

"Hold on, m'am."

"Joe, hurry, turn the radio on."

Joe put down the phone up, glad for the distraction. He reached over and turned the radio on.

"--so as Premier of Eepitan, I announce our alliance with the communist uprising in Bonstock. We will help our new ally with supplies, weapons and man power. Soon, we will commence and invasion of the Maropian Coast. This will be a glorious day for our comrades, communism and Eepitan."

The premier was drowned out by cheering, and it went back to the station.

"What was that about?"

Fred seemed very excited. "You heard. We're going to war soon."

"So?"

"Well, word is that Free Eepitan" Fred acted as if saying those words was like biting into a bad fruit. "Word is that they'll be helping Maropian Coast."

Joe felt the full implications of those words. "We can get those runaways back under our power! Hot damn!"

Suddenly Joe remembered the phone call. He picked it back up. "Hello?"

"God dammit, you lazy....What in god's name were you doing?"

"Listen, you. I don't have time to put up with this crap anymore! If you want that pothole fixed, fix it yourself, you old snake!"

"What? I...I'll tell your supervisor about this, and I'll be damned if you don't get fired!"

"Go ahead! I'm gonna sign up for the army anyway!"

"Joining the army? What's goi-"

Joe slammed the phone down and looked out the window, and saw a mix of T-80's and M1A1 Abrhams streaming down the street. Civilian cars were being turned around, and people were lining up to cheer for their country. Trucks came, along with command cars and marching troops. It truly would be a glorious day for Eepitan.

After recieving word of the guerilla attack on the convoy and after tracing the convoy via sattelite, Froogle ordered that more anti-personnel-mines be laid in addition to the remaining mines of the enemy. The mines would be laid in the next few hours by speciallists dispatched to the scene. The Mortar-equipped mechs had already arrived and taken their positions among the SAM-equipped mechs. The mechs would stand ground to destroy the onslaught, hopefully weakaning the enemy and making them fall into their own traps and mines. They'd also proboably trip the Zecro-laid mines as well.

Froogle had moved out to the closest military encampment near the border, which contains the truck with central command and is guarded by the force across the border and 10 ST-9 mehcs.

IC:

Looking out over the pride-filled faces made Paul happy. They waved the flags that Eepitan had flown before it was taken over by the communists. It looked amazingly like the United States flag, from which it was designed.

He was one of the president's aides. He glanced at the man, in his early fifties, his sandy mustache poking out around his cheeks. The tall, elegant figure shuffled his papers as the vast cheering died down.

"And of course, those bastards up North want to JOIN them!"

The crowd seemed to hiss and boo collectively as he referred to communist Eepitan and Bonstock, now under their Red fist.

“Well, the only thing we can do is strike them!” He raised his fist to punctuate his words, and the crowd went wild. “This time we will strike those Reds down, and take back our land, for Democracy and Freedom!”

Even though it seemed impossible, the roar grew louder.

“With our superior manpower, weapons and iron will, we can not falter!”

Pretty big words, Paul thought. They had failed during the revolution, and were nearly destroyed in the War Of Secession. Only a brilliant strike from General Howard and intervention from Gibralo afterwards had stopped more chaos and carnage.

Thinking of General Howard brought pride to his heart and a smile to his face. The heroic figure had driven a strike that stopped the bloody commies in their tracks, and made international intervention come.

“We will fight in the blue skies, on the vast plains of our great nation. We will fight on the rolling hills, and the purple mountains. We will fight in the streets of New Washington, house by house if necessary, to reclaim the once glorious capital of our former nation. We will never give up! We will never surrender! This will be a great day for Democracy, for we will snatch our country back from the vial clutches of Communism!”

Even Paul stood up, whooping like a madman, just like everyone else there. He hoped those commies were watching this footage somehow. They’d be too frightened to fight back.

IC:

Staring at the screen below him, Irving rotated the gun of his T-90 tank, positioning the targeting laser on the turret of the opposing M1A1. He squeezed the trigger hard, and the tank rocked as the sabot shell slammed into the armored vehicle. It hardly penetrated the armor, but a fire started in the small hole that did open, and the tank erupted in a massive explosion.

“Target down. Load.”

The tank surged forward amongst tanks of all sorts, including T-80’s, M1A1’s and even the new M1A2’s and T-95’s. Even somewhat aged T-72’s came forward on the ruined field, where the carcasses of tanks were strewn about.

From behind some foliage, another M1A1 came out, having just finished off a T-84 meters away from
Irving. He aimed the gun at the tracks, and squeezed again. The tread whipped off, wrapping around the main body. The tank itself was spun to the right, before the driver could bring it under control. It was too late, as Irving and another tank fired on opposite sides. The turret gouged flames as it fell off to the side.

“Target down. Load!”

He watched out his scope as the tank that helped him came around a hill. It erupted soon too, as a dug in tank far off towards the enemy lines revealed itself. He aimed and fired, the shell striking the front of the tank. It stopped firing.

They advanced quickly, and Irving went around the shattered corpse of the previous tank. His comrades came around him as he fell into a covering position. The remainder of enemy tanks were falling back or exploding violently.

Irving finally got to pause and look at his comrades, to really look.

“Jesus Christ.” He murmured.

The force, at least 50 strong when they entered, was reduced down to 13, including him.

A call came across all channels. “APCs, I repeat, APCs, move in now.”

The aged Bradley IFVs and the newer Russian made BMPs came out of their former positions, coming to the front. They plowed to the enemy trenches, killing enemy infantry still hiding, hoping to surprise the Eepitan forces. They began spewing infantry, and the crackle of small arms fire filled the air, which was suddenly silent after the tank battle.

“Come on, lets move over those trenches.”

The trenches look big enough, Irving thought. His tank started to go over, when suddenly something struck the tank, and hard.

Irving pulled his head up, and heard burning. He quickly grabbed the field extinguisher, and put the fire out before it could reach the ammunition.

He heard someone moan, and the bottom escape hatch swung open. Irving came down, crawling out. The driver, Kingsburg, was bleeding, and he noticed the ammunition loader, Repkins, was unconscious. He looked around for what had struck the tank. Could it be a mine? No, they couldn’t get one right here. Then he saw him, the injured Free Eepitan soldier, twitching on the ground. Next to him lie a TOW anti-tank missile launcher. He had been so close to the tank when he fired, he nearly killed himself.

“Is everyone ok?”

Kingsburg replied “I’m alright, but we should get Repkins to a field hospital.”

Irving checked the tank, and saw the massive scar on the underside. He whistled in amazement, and looked back down to the Free Eepitan. He heaved him up, and dragged him alongside Kingsburg as they walked back towards their lines.

Smith made a bolt for the woods, his comrade on his back. His heart raced with fear, his blood cold with alarm. He came to a cliff, and could see over, as the blood was shed below. He searched to find what side was what, but it was all blended into one cold layer of blood and tears, tears of the Motherland weeping for her dead and dying children. Smith walked down a path, racing, his heart throbbing almost out of his chest, his mind racing with instict, not thoughts. A man shot at him; Smith took his MP 40 and ended the man's short existance. And he went on. His only thoughts were to save himself. Like so many others, he was now a mere animal in a savage free-for-all. There were no sides, no teams, no armies. Just one gigantic bowl of blood being spilled by so many young lives. Smith looked around; he saw not where to go. He raced for home, or what was left of it. Before he could get there, he ran into a mob of his own comrades. They shot him in the stomach before being distractd by government soldiers with MP 40s. Smith lay there, thinking about the past events. He then realized that he had left his friend Burt behind. The instincts rolled away as the government soldiers withdrew. A medic came to treat him, and he was taken to a makeshift field hospital. He wished that he had been shot instead of his friend. He wished that the gods of war had not left him with the guilt of the survivor. 5,692 of his comrades fell, never to rise again. Smith wished that one of them was replaced with him. But alas, he would merely have to trudge on. There was nothing he could do. Despite his wounds, he was forced onto a pickup, and he was headed for the Zecro border. At least then he would not have to fight his own flesh and blood.

"Where is General von Strauswitz?"

"He has stayed behind. News is turning bad in Zecro."

"Is that so, Admiral?"

"Yes. He has instructed us to attack the Maropian merchant fleet."

The men looked out over the islands. In between, there were nearly 100 submarines of the Los Angelas class. They were to "soften up" the Maropian Navy, and keep Maropian Coast cut off from supplies flowing in from foreign powers. Meanwhile, the engineers started building up an airfield, from which bombing operations against Maropian Coast could take place. If they could gain air superiority, then Maropian Coast would be doomed.

I'm also looking into coaxing Ethan to build a small-scale mech for me. If he can build it, we can too. the first thing he said was "can there be wheels on the bottom of the legs?" ah well. I wonder how much we could sell it for...
How many are actually coming to Zecro? And is General von Strauswitz still gonna attempt to attack my forces? I have my mines in addition to your old mines that never blew up. And I take it that East Islands also has people in the Taiwan area, and their ships are searching for more ships to sink. OK, back to RPing.

Froogle sat down at the desk in the newly built Zecro base near the border. He looked outside. From his place, he could see Bonstock. Bonstock... Froogle remembered his collegue, Charles Marquis St. Evremonde, in political school. They were the odd group there, one centrist-right and the other a moderate lefty. Who'd've thought they'd be leading countries one fine day? They had also both led armies against one of the first communist uprisings in Bonstock, back when the ST-8 was still a prototype and when mechs were just begining to be built with rockets. The ST-1 was only an unarmored walker.... But those days were gone. Evremonde was proboably at Nozomi station, along with Hu Li, leading the resistance from within. Froogle had something in store for those commies that they would not prepare for.

He looked at his plasma computer screen again. The photos of the latest battle had come through very well. But Froogle was concerned about Nozomi station. If there was an attack, Zecro would not know until very late. Until the Zecro sattelites over it were unblocked. Until most of the base was destroyed. Froogle understood why they were being blocked. He'd have done the same. The largest place left with anti-revolutionary forces. And a sattelite jammer so conveniently installed in the base. It gave the base more saftey then their walls, fences and tanks. The revolutionaries could not see inside the base. Not until it was attacked. He had watched nearly 5,000 of the advancing army be destroyed. They were being followed from the skies. Whenever they would be within range of the ST-10 mortars, they would see their numbers diminish very quickly. Froogle also hoped that the mortar fire would cause mass panic from the advancing forces, at which point the mines would kick in. With much luck, the front forces needed not fire a single round. But they would need to.

Froogle hatched a new plan. Hopefully there would be a mass retreat after the battle. Froogle would send in a highly-trained special agent dressed as a revolutionary. He would blend in, but not make direct contact with anyone. He would carry a standard issue RPG, hollowed out to house money and media for the recording equipment he had. Even if the plan did not succed, Zecro would gain much information. That is, if the agent was able to get in. After arriving at a base, or possibly earlier, the spy would attempt to bribe the high-ranking officer with cash, asylum, and whatever he needed. What the officer would do was tell the agent of any army movement, plans and what not. After this stage of the operation was completed, the spy would plant a timed explosive in some high place, hopefully distracting people long enough for the spy to move into the Havlo range to get to safe grounds. It was risking one agent, with only a worldfull of information to gain. The spy would also have a suicide pill, in case he was caputred. He would carry no sensitive Zecro information.

Now all there was to do was wait.

Bonstock needs to tell me if this plan would have over 50% chance of succeding. It was suggested by my father, but I doubt that this would even have *25%* chances of suceeding. and I will now borrow Pat's quotte: "Spug out"

Port Yuko, Bonstock

A large fleet of amphibious ships gathered in the harbor. It was clear they had one and only one purpose: an invasion of Maropian Coast. On board crowded some 80,000 troops, which were ultimatly to be used in the assault.

Meanwhile, the troops headed to Zecro stopped some 20 miles from the border, and simply waited.

A few scouting units were blown up by mines, which signaled their presence for the rest of the group.

"Achtung! Luftwapen! Dive! Dive! Dive!"

The submarines dove below the surface to avoid the cruise missiles. It was the start of a nightmare that would consume all of Bonstock.

"Grand Admiral von Strauswitz, we are under attack!"

"Engage with CIWS guns now! We must let no ship be destroyed! We need these for the invasion!"

CIWS guns opened up on the incoming missiles as they flew towards the fleet. One missile hit nearby, knocking the Blue Ridge class command ship that the Grand Admiral was on. A couple of LHDs were damaged, and fleet oilers would have to tow them into the Sakishimas, where the submarines had established a base.

The fleet escaped, mostly unharmed, except for 17 sailors killed. They were buried at sea. Then the fleet went in to the harbor of Ishigaki, which was now becoming the headquarters of the Grand Admiral, where he would oversee the invasion of Maropian Coast. The island was some 200 miles away from Maropian Coast. Cargo planes took off in Bonstock proper, and headed to the island, building up forces for the invasion. Meanwhile, several wings of aircraft were flown in. Many F 15s, F 16s, and other aircrafts landed at small airbases being build by the engineers.

Nozomi Station

A map was projected on the board at the en of the confrence room. Free Bonstock's High Command was being briefed about recent events.

"We see here the establishment of rebel airbases on the island of Ishigaki, well within striking distance of Maropian Coast. In the town of Ishigaki, we can see here a build up of supply depots. Hotels in the town are now becoming barracks for an estimated 100,000 troops. We can also pick up a multitude of cargo planes bringing in supplies and reinforcements."

"Well. I think this requires an all out invasion. We must deny them of this base. A blockade shall do the job."

"Admiral von Stueben, our naval forces are streched too thin for a blockade."

"Air Force General Lung, what methods do you suppose would work?"

"Well, an all out invasion would be likely suicide..."

"I disagree with that. A Marine assault will quickly take the island, and we can rest in peace."

"But do we have enough ships, Marine General Williamson?"

"I beleive that the navy will furnish the ships, Air Force General Lung."

"I disagree. We need a long air campaign. We must knock out thier airbases while we still can, before they have a large presence on the island."

"We must eventually have a ground assault. We shall send in a massive force. That will even this out. hundreds of thousands of men landing will quickly make the island ours."

"That will cause so many casualties it will be unheard of! We should send in small forces at best, up to division size. We cannot afford to lose entire army groups in this fashion."

"Brigadier General Adolfus, I'm not sure if you have enough experiance to tell. You are a commander of special forces, correct? Special forces are way to light for this kind of operation."

"On the contrary, shock troops in urban areas are sure to work. We will prove it after the air attacks by Air Force General Lung."

Following with interest, President Hu Li remarked "I believe we should follow General Adolfus's recommendation, with Marine General Willaimsons assault. This shall be a testing ground for the eventual invasion of Bonstock."

"All right. When shall the operation take place?"

"I want a full force requirement by tommarrow. Then we will commence the operation."
Bonstock
23-11-2003, 05:35
"All right. The force requirements are in."

"What do we need, Air Force General?"

"The Air Force will contribute some 800 fighter aircraft, with some 30,000 ground personnel. The Marine Corps has pleged to send in two full MEFs, with about 100,000 personnel. The Army will be responsible for a special operation against the town of Ishigaki."

"And when can we commence the operation?"

"With Free Rumania's fighters and enough equipments for the MEFs, we can start almost now. The air campaign will take some 4 days, and the ground invasion, if executed properly, will take only 48 hours. There should be 8 days to prepare, so in two weeks the operation should be over."

"Let us hope we are not to optimistic. Commence the operation."

At ports all over Maropian Coast, Marines loaded onto ships, preparing to be shiped out for the assault on Ishigaki island. They would first take an adjacent island for use as a base, and then assault the beaches. Meanwhile, a special airborne force was formed under Brigadier General Gustavus Adolfus. Their task was to capture the town of Ishigaki and cut off any rebels from resupply. Meanwhile, airplanes took off. There were 60 of them, in an all wing assault. They were Su 30s from Free Rumania, and their task was to do a fighter sweep of the area.

"Wing 15, entering combat zone."

"Roger. Confirmed."

"Agran flight, picking up bogies inbound at 030 for 25 low."

"Roger, bogies confirmed. All flights vector to engage."

"Roger."

Meanwhile, 36 enemy planes were in the air.

"We're closing in on bogies."

"Roger, dead ahead."

"Permission to engage?"

"Given. You have permission to engage the enemy."

"Roger."

Then suddenly missiles streaked in from the rebels. Could it be that they had longer range missiles?

Alarms on the planes blared. "Missile launch." was repeated over and over by the AWACS crews.

"Dive and deploy chaff!"

But there was no where to hide over the ocean; no valleys to fly in, no mountains to get behind, just a flat water. The missiles took a heavy toll. Some 26 planes were shot down. The planes got within range, and fired their missiles.

17 kills were conifirmed by the AWACS, but it was clear that Free Bonstock had lost too many planes in the first strike.

By now the Marines, aboard some 12 old Wasp class ships, prepared to assault the beaches. After They were to first secure the island of Iromote, adjacent to Ishigaki. Troops would be flown in once it was secured. Then the troops built up on the island will be ferried in by helicopter. The operation would be swift and decisive, so the planners thought.

The Wasp class ships left port, for a journey of about two hundred miles. There was no opposition as they landed on the beach of the adjacent island. The enigneers secured a local airstrip, and C 130s took off from Maropian Coast by the hundreds, ferrying in troops and supplies. The fighter planes were flown in, and took up positions along the roads for take off. Day one had passed, and all seemed to go smoothly.

Revolutionary Council Military Commitee

"Sirs," a man in a military uniform adressed a confrence table where high military officials were seated. "We have noted a build up of enemy troops on this island. Being ferried by ships and planes, it is thought that they will attack Ishigaki island with a considerable force."

"We must deploy all of our recources avaliable to defend the island. How many troops can we get to the island in two days? We must send thousands!"

One man said in a thick German accent, "We must sieze all the commercial aircraft we can get from Port Yuko international airport. We must load them with troops, and send them on their way. They should paradrop onto the island for lack of a suitable runway. They should fly low over the clouds, one by one, and drop as many troops as they can."

"Where would they land?"

"We must make a deal with Japann. The planes will land there. Meanwhile, fill all of our Bob Hope class transports with the six armored divisions. They must be used to defend the island. The paratroopers will only hold until releived by them." He then whispered to himself, "How stupid of me. I got destracted." Then he thought about all the C 17s still at Nozomi Station Air Force base, bringing supplies to the guerrillas. If I can sieze those, getting troops into the Sakishimas will be no problem. He excused himself, and took a helicopter to the headquarters of the newly formed Fourth Armored Division. Ordered his troops to launch an all out operation against Nozomi Sation, in order to sieze all of the C 17s that were needed. He knew that the terrain would be almost impassable, and that the place was well defended. They would be deep in guerrilla held territory. Hopefully, they would not be cut off from supplies. The operation must proceed quickly, and the base must be secured. Some 1,900 Iron Cheetah export tanks were now rolling towards the base to do that (ooc: see Clan Smoke Jaguar's storefronts for more info).

Several of the cruise missiles hit in base areas. Despite the best efforts of the CIWS gunners, two LHDs were sunk, along with one of the submarines. All of the subs were now going to try to cut off resupply to the Maropian Coast troops on Iromote Island. They targeted cargo ships headed for the area.

Meanwhile, the Rebel armored divisions reached the mountains. Fighting government snipers with machine guns, the engineers tried to get them across the rough terrain.

Rebel forces moved trough the mountains, rolling on at about 15 miles per hour. There were still some 60 miles of almost impassable terrain to go through. It was already the daybreak of the second day since the Government landed on Iromote. Planes were about to commence the bombardment of the island of Ishigaki. But the rebels had a few tricks up their sleves.

15 Composite Fighter Wings had been purchased from Clan Smoke Jaguar. Each one had some 21 F 16s and 42 F 15s, along with supporting aircraft and 11 B1 Bombers. Six were now operational in Bonstock proper, with one already deployed to Ishigaki. The rest were soon to be delivered. The Revolutionary Air Force was now being called upon to attack Nozomi Station. SAM sites would impede this, but hopefully they could knock stuff out on the base.

Nozomi Station Air Force Base

A man rushed into the High Command confrence room, finding all the promenent members of Free Bonstock's High Command. He brought news of the armies marching to destroy the place. It was clear from the outset that if they could break through to the base, it would be un defendable, despite troops armed with TOWs and Javelin anti-tank missiles. There was simmply not enough to resist this surprise attack, even through such inhospitable terrain.

A plan was drawn up for a fighting retreat. Burning their equipment that they could not transport by foot, the two divisions guarding the place would take to the hills, continueing guerrilla fighting. High Command would relocate to Maropian Coast, partly in an effort to counter the offensives coming. Prority was given to flying out or destroying top secret aircraft, and bombing all useable facilities so the rebels could not use the base.

But to use the C 17s was thought to be suicide. It was now known that the enemy had vast amounts of Stinger missiles that could destroy them as they took off. A plane was needed with sufficient speed to evade the missiles.

Every effort was to be made to stall the attack. It was proceeding slowly, having slowed to about five miles per hour, with many miles to go. Snipers tried to get out. Armed with rifles, they would kill any infantry trying to walk along side the tanks. Then mortars could knock out the tanks.

In one room, a two man sniper team prepared for their mission. A man and a woman, with one sniper rifle and lots of targeting equipment, were to help stall the attack on the base.

They reviewed their plans on where to go. They had chosen a specific bluff from which they would command a view of the only passes to the base, along a narrow, winding mountain road called Highway 8. The road would be where most of the snipers would wait, as they knew the rebels would use it in their advance. There was much risk, though. Snipers would be responed to with an entire armored division, firing from long range as the distance. Mortars and artillary would combine to create dangerous zone for snipers.

The team waited to lead their troops. They were commanding a group of snipers, as trained representitives from High Command. Both of them had a background with the Bonstocknian Special Service (BSS), both as assasins. They both had military service, one as a naval special operations operative and the other as a paratrooper with the ill fated 1st Airborne division, which was destroyed in Bonstock's last civil disturbance. Both had served or were currently serving as President of the Republic of Bonstock. At least in the role of sniper, they would not be singled out for execution. They knew that after their mission, a minisubmarine would pick them up, taking them to Maropian Coast. Thus, they were not in risk of being blown out of the sky by a rebel Avenger system, or found and publicly executed by the Rebels. Supposedly.

Froogle had just read the enemy report summary. Apperantly, they had stopped near the mine fields after their scouting parties had been destroyed. There were sattelite pics with the report. The enemy was just... standing there. Waiting. Just like Zecro.

After considering his options, Froogle decided to send in 100 more mortar-equipped mechs by train, more replacement parts and other utilities. They would also be carrying 25 Minsweeper arms for 25 mechs that were to become minesweepers. Ah thw wonders of replacable parts. Zecro would bomb the bases that were established. The coordinates of the encampments and vehicles were logged. The bombers were set bomb them at 0200 hours. It was 1400 hours now, which gave the bombers... 1,100 hours to get armed. But in order for the spy plan to work, there had to be an anemy force left, so Froogle modified the coordinates of one of the strikes so that the bombs would fall and miss a few troop tents and jeeps, but come close, waking them up and making them scatter. After the raid, the spy will follow them, guided by GPS and sattelite info to their HQ. After the strike, the 100 mechs would arrive and Zecro could start the ground invastion into Bonstock, suported by GPS and sattelite info.

All over, soldiers were marching into battle. Thousands were now on Iromote island, with C 130s bringing in more by the minute. Over 100,000 rebel panzertruppen were marching on Nozomi Station, with some 30,000 defenders marching off to the security posts to defend the place to the last man. All of them were joyful, naive, seeking adventure. Many of them were getting drunk, singing "La Marseillaise" as so many Bonstocknian soldiers before them had, marching into White Tundra, Multaan, Wolfish, Nimbata, and many other nations that Bonstock had marched into. There was pride in their song, of old battles fought, of glories yet unseen.

Aboard a UH 60 Blackhawk headed from Maropian Coast, the soldiers broke out in song:

"Allons enfants de la Patrie
Le jour de gloire est arrivé !"

In a tank crossing the mountains to Nozomi Station, there was an echo:

"Contre nous de la tyrannie
L'étendard sanglant est levé
Entendez-vous dans nos campagnes:"

And the echo continued, to a bunker outside Nozomi Station:

"Mugir ces féroces soldats?
Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras.
Égorger vos fils, vos compagnes!"

And from all locations, they all joined in:

"Aux armes citoyens
Formez vos bataillons
Marchons, marchons
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons!"

The chorus faded, and then the Blackhawk let its troops out over hostile territory, and machine guns and artillery exploded everywhere. The tanks got within striking distance of the government airbase, and the sky lit up with glares of 155mm shells hurtling towards them. And this was felt to in the bunker, as they started taking direct hits from the enemy outside...

The Rebel SPHs started firing all out at the base. Constant thunder roared down upon it. For a full five minutes, the artillary raged. Then, some 400 H 77B horwitzers pulled up at the base. Each of them fired a quick 6 shots in one minute, then scooted out of the way. Then MLRS fired from the base in a long, drawn out barrage. Ten minutes had passed, and the rebels hit back. A rolling barrage led the way for a charge of tanks, nearly two thousands of them.

Meanwhile, a team of snipers went in to seek out the only target holding them together.

Watching the battle from a hillside, Alfred von Strauswitz, head of the Revolutionary Council's military committee, sent a radio transmission to the rebel fleet thousands of miles away. He heard of the reports of rebel helicopter troops in the area, supposedly looking for targets. Strauswitz knew that this would mean an enourmous air strike, furthuring his detirmination to find the C 17s. Then he sent transmissions to the divisional leaders, asking for a report. It was somewhat favorable, but the battle still raged on. It would be a while before the base would be secure. Strauswitz was assuared that the plan to take the base was working. The point was to surround the base, and then bring in as many SAMs as he could muster. The base would fall quickly. He focused again after sending the transmission.

Little did he know, the calls had been intercepted, and his location triangulated. The government now knew where he was...

Sam Lenard felt queasy, but there was nothing different about that. He was at sea, onboard the Free Eepitan ship called the Georgia Punch. They were sailing out of Southern California to directly assist Maropian Coast and the freedom of Bonstock from the Communist revolution. It was a fairly big task force, made of Free Eepitan’s 1st and 2nd fleets. 24 ships, punching across the pacific towards the Maropian Coast.

“Ya think we’ll see some of them Red bastards out here?”

Lenard looked up to see Charlie White. His name was ironic, since he was a dark skinned man and anything but white.

“Hell if I know. But we’ll show em what capitalism builds if we see any.”

Charlie chuckled. “Amen to that. So, what do you think of the weather?”

“It’s alright, I guess.”

That was an understatement. The weather was great out here, except for the storms.

Suddenly, klaxons rang out. White and Lenard both ran to the turret they shared, one of the chain guns designed to shoot down cruise missiles, and even aircraft if they get close enough. Their supervisor, Davis, checked on them and went on. The klaxons shot off not long after.

“Just a drill.”

“Yeah, too bad” White replied. “I would have liked to have gunned me down some commies.”

He grinned widely. So did Sam.

There was a pause in the artillary, allowing armor to advance to capitaliza on the assault. Six divisions of armor were now attempting to circle the extensive base, the largest military complex in Bonstock. High Commande ordered the old Bonstocknian 1st Infantry division to prevent the encirlement at the very point where the two enemy groups were to meet and surround the base. This would provide a "way out" should the base fall. The other infantry division guarding the base, the 2nd Infantry Division, formed a ring around the base, manning a complicated series of trenches and pillboxes. They were the only units guarding the base, whihc still had 50 C 17 cargo planes unloading more supplies for the war effort.

Meanwhile, a team of snipers crept into the woods surrounding the base. Crawling passed the old trees, wearing camo, they made there way to a known location, constantly being updated by radio on the events surrounding them. They crept on, to a ledge, near where their target was.

“Keep your heads down! Keep your god da-”

Henry wished that the Sergeant had followed his own orders, but it was too late. What was left of his head was sprayed around the trench.

“Jesus Christ… Oh, god…God..” a man wearing glasses murmured.

“Shut up Paul! God can’t help you now!” McSweeney shouted.

Henry Enlow tried to tune it all out, but the enemy artillery did that for him. He hunkered low, hoping his helmet would help him enough. The roar grew louder as Free Eepatin artillery joined the barrage. Kill those god damn Reds, everyone of them. He thought.

The roar grew to a peak, and suddenly died down. There was a ringing in Henry’s ears.

How can this happen? The trenches, the artillery, the slaughter? This is the 21st century! Nothing like this had happened since World War I. Jesus, where is the air supp

A whistle blew. “GO GO GO!”

Henry climbed out of his trench, bullets whistling past him, the wet smack of it hitting flesh. The agonizing screams…He wished the roar of artillery was back. Almost as if his wish had made it come true, Free Eepatin shells came down on the enemy trenches. The air became more clear again, since no more enemies were firing and were taking cover instead. Henry moved along with his fellow men, advancing at the line. Bayonets… he thought, We even have to go back to using bayonets.

Enlow tripped and fell into a ditch made from the artillery. He lie there for a few minutes, recollecting himself. Someone was screaming at him to get up, but that man fell, grabbing his knee. Everyone near him fell, making stacks of bodies. More kept coming, and the mounted machine gun stopped it’s evil chatter as a lucky man sniped the gunner.

Henry climbed up, clutching his M16 until his knuckles were white. He saw his companions leaping into the trenches, hitting enemy troops with the butt of their guns, or gutting them on the bayonet.

Henry dived into the trench, and quickly spotted a Red. They both lunged, but Enlow was the first to stab. The man fell, trying to speak words that would not come. The man next to him, a young, fresh teen, raised his hands. Henry pulled the AK-74 from the ground, and forced the fellow onto the ground. He looked around, seeing the death in the trench. This was a victory for Free Eepatin, but at what cost? It had been a bloody day for Colorado.

The night grew weary as troops from both sides fought. The two snipers crept to a place near the Rebel headquarters. With an effective sniper hidout behind them, they could easily slip away undetected.

They waited for almost an hour, as they waited for their target. Finally, a man that both of them recognized came out with an apparent staff. Using their targeting computers, listening to the drone of artillary from both sides, they aimed properly with thier sniper rifle. They knew exactly how far they were away from the enemy, and had aimed perfectly. Then, they fired the rifle. But their target had just moved. The bullet slammed into one of the aides. The target dived out of the way, and looked out at the place the bullet came from.

D--n, snipers, out to get me, thought von Strauswitz, as he ran back to his HMMWV and drove off. Highly trained ones, too. He pulled out his pistol, and instructed his driver on where to go. He knew the snipers would retreat to a small, isolated town outside the base, and from there, dressed as civilians, they would return to the base. Von Strauswitz knew who they were, and he would be waiting for them in the town.

The HMMWV pulled in, and he and two guards with MP 40s jumped out. They made their way to the outskirts of this small hamlet, that was marked on the map as "Turnsville."

They went to a small, old, abandoned farmhouse, a predictable hideaway for any escapee. Taking up positions behind the door, they waited for a few minutes, and heard some faint walking noises, creeping closer. Its the though von Strauswitz, right into my trap. The door opened, and two figures, both clad in snipers uniforms, walked in. Von Strauswitz walked over to the door. In the moonlight, he could make out the figures, a man and a woman.

"Herr Ste. Evremonde, Frauline Hu Li, we meet again, and what an excellent night. Will you accompany me to my headquarters please?"

Shocked, Hu Li pulled out a pistol, but was motioned back by Ste. Evremonde. "Monseiur von Strauswitz," said the "perhaps you should come with us. We need to talk about some things. I'm sure we can resolve our differences without the use of violence, perhaps over some fine wine."

"Herr Ste. Evremonde, I insist that you come with me. I am perfectly prepared to entertain such an honorable guest. I wouldn't suggest confrontation." Just then his two guards stepped into the light, and aimed their MP 40s at the two snipers. "You may come with me, Herr Ste. Evremonde. As for your assistant, my guards will escort her."

Ste. Evremonde pushed his assistant back, knowing she was seathing with rage, ready to kill the men confronting them at any moment. "Very well. I believe that to be a suitable arrangement."

The men, von Strauswitz and Ste. Evremonde, exited, both upright an proud like the aristocrats they were. Hu Li, the young female assitant to Ste. Evremonde, stayed behind with the two guards. Von Strauswitz motioned back to his guards. They knew what it meant.

Ste. Evremonde was escorted out of the room by von Strauswitz. Then the guards left behind motioned Hu Li over to a wall. Then, in a swift move, she kicked both of them in the face, knocking them out. She took one of the MP 40s, and ran outside to catch up with the two men. Reching them at the HMMWV, she pointed the Schmeisser at von Strauswitz. Ste. Evremonde motioned for her to lower the machine pistole, and said to von Strauswitz "I insist that we settle this at my chateau over some wine. Perhaps this whole affair can be solved without bloodshed."

Seeing Hu Li angrilly grip the MP 40, von Strauswitz said, "Very well, Herr Ste. Evremonde. Please, you and your assistant will ride in the back of my humvee. My driver will drive us to your house."

Ste. Evrmonde nodded in consent, and took a seat in the back next to his assistant, who pointed the MP 40 again at von Strauswitz's head and said "This had better not be a trick."

Ste. Evremonde again moitioned her down, and said to the driver "Verriville-sur-la-mer, sil' vous plait."

The driver nodded, and drove in that direction. Following a traditional aristocratic honor, the ride went to the place rather then somewhere else. Arriving at the chateau, which looked old and abandoned, the men walked into the hallway, followed by Hu Li, still pointing the MP 40 with an angry look on her face. They went into the parlor, and Ste. Evremonde instructed his butler to fetch a bottle of wine. The men sat down on the couch as the butler placed the wine on the table with three glasses. Ste. Evremonde poured two of the glasses, and looked over at Hu Li, who shook her head. Von Strauswitz lightly picked up his glass, and brought it slowly to his lips, and sipped from it. Then he opened the conversation. "Herr der Marquis, I ask, where were you for the long while? You were absent, I believe."

"I was detained by various affairs."

"Indeed, such affairs have detained myself as well. But with you it must be of much more importance to others what detains you, the former President of our country, who is still regarded as a national hero to most of the population despite some repressive instances."

"Well, indeed, the populace must be kept under strict rule. I considered the protests a complement to my authority over the masses."

"That is true, Herr Ste. Evremonde. Now, you know of my position in the current rebellion. You know I am no communist."

"Indeed that is true. I have never known my former fellow officer to be a communist. What were you removed for, again?"

"They charged falsely that I was a National Socialist."

"Ah, yes. Monsieur von Strauswitz, I assume that you, a loyal soldier of Bonstock, would not do such a thing. But even so, I believe they charged you as Nazi because you tried to sink an unarmed refugee ship headed for Bonstock. Now, the judiciary of the military is somewhat absurd in its connections, but it would be a complete crime to sink such a vessel."

"I wonder why you would speak such a thing, Herr Ste. Evremonde. I am certain that I could have prevented many of the problems that plague Bonstock to this day. If we had shut off immigration years before, our population would still be at a sound, reasonable 100 million, all living in mostly prosperity. Now we have the burden of a population of 1 billion, most crowded into the slums around Port Yuko, living in shipping containers and crowding into sky-high apartment slums. It is such an ugly tone over the great city, all of those buildings."

"Perhaps yes, but remember, without those people in the slums, our nation would not be as economically sucessful as it is now. Nor would we be a powerful military force, either. They are not a burden, but a means of advancing us as a nation."

"Indeed, we owe much to immigrants. But we have allowed them to much power. Indeed, your own assistant, not a native born Bonstocknian, is now President, I believe. I have grown to question many of her moves as President, and believe she is to young for the burdens of office."

"Well, Monsieur, why remark you dissent to me instead of directly telling our President. She's in this very room." Behind them, she raised the MP 40 again.

"Well, that is a matter for another time. But on to the subject of your Presidency."

"And what about it?"

"I must admit, your Presidency united Bonstock as a country. You came in with us as a little, backwater penninsula and came out with us as a real power worth recognizing in the world. In these turbulent times, our nation needs someone strong to unite us, and keep us from shedding blood over such trivial things as who leads our nation. I ask that you assume power as President again, to unite us in our bleak hour."

"I will do that, on the condition of the dissolution of the Revolutionary Council."

"I am afraid the council is to much entrenched to be so destructable. But I am sure, if you accept this position, that I can control them."

"And how do you suppose you do that?"

"I will be Prime Minister of Bonstock, and I will be sure that the Council only does what it can legally do. Meanwhile you will be President for life."

"For life is a very long while, I believe. But quite tempting. But alas, I have served my time, done my duty. There is not much more I can do."

"You can unite us."

"But I will only do it under a legitimate government, not the provisional rabble they call the Revolutionary Council."

"Provisional now, it may seem. But we then must pass a suitable constitution. Then there will be no rabble, but a professional organization. Also, as President, you will not have much work to do exept be a figurehead for Bonstock, a uniting figure to look up to. I will do all the real work."

"That would be a lot of power to delegate to you, considering your primary drive was to control the Council."

"Indeed, with the council underfoot, I will perfectly control everything in an efficiant manner."

"I am afraid I cannot fathom the delegation of such powers to you, Monseuir. I will not allow you to have such powers on my behalf."

"Very well, and expect the blood to spill."

"I am certain blood would spill either way. Until the Council falls, there will be bloodshed."

"That may be the way you see it. But I insist you make a subtle attempt, simply to try to stop the bloodshed. Make a speech in Port Yuko calling for a ceasefire. It may be the only way. Time is wasting fast, and at this very moment more Bonstocknians are dying. The sooner yo make the speech, the less lives are lost."

"Very well. I shall go to Port Yuko straight away."

"Perfect."

They both raised their glasses, and gave a toast, "To Bonstock!" They drank their glasses, and exited the room. Hu Li, still clutching her MP 40, gave a cold look to von Strauswitz as he passed out of the door. She then followed them out to the awaiting car.

Entering town at the dead of night, the humvee stopped at a local hotel. The passengers came out, and ordered a room. Von Strauswitz then left to convince the council to hear Ste. Evremonde's speech. Passing one of the Revolutionary Guards chiefs, he whispered something in the man's ear, then continued on. The Council agreed to hear the speech, and a ceasefire was put into place. Newscasts buzzed with the news of the old President's speech. All of Bonstock began to wait for the speech.

A crowed of people, millions of them, gathered on the streets on the way from the hotel to the Government Plaza. An open limo came to pick Ste. Evremonde up. Sitting next to him was the current President, Hu Li, who was to introduce the one thought of as a hero to all of Bonstock. The limo passed by the cherring crowds. The roads were cleared of all traffic as he drove by, waving to the crowds. Then, a few blocks from the plaza, a shot rang out. Two shots. Ste. Evremonde fell down onto Hu Li's lap, and the limo sped off for the hospital.

"We interrupt this broadcast to bring you a special report. From Port Yuko, we have just recieved word that former President Charles Ste. Evremonde has been shot. I repeat, Charles Ste. Evremonde shot at approximatly 12:37 Bonstock time riding in Port Yuko in an effort to end the current violence in Bonstock."

A helicopter flew Ste. Evremonde to a hospital ship. Current President Hu Li was at his side as they tried to treat him.

"Hu Li," said the dying Marquis, "I know waht you will do, you will avenge me. There is nothing I can do to stop it. But, I must tell you, never, ever unleash... the shear power and might of the fusion bomb. Do not... use my death... as an excuse... to kill millions more." His eyes rolled back, and his hand fell onto his chest. Hu Li, seething with rage, cluthced her fists. She looked towards the shore, and become cold and vengeful. She knew who had done this. He had killed too many people in her life, including her own soul.

About an hour later, aboard hospital ship Aid-1 floating in the harbor, a man walked out to a crowd of reporters. On the verge of tears, he said "The Marquis Ste. Evremonde, former President of the Republic of Bonstock, was pronounced dead at 1:24."

In his office at the Government Plaza, von Strauswitz smiled. "Now nothing will stop me!"

The Revolutionary Council authorized a broadcast stating who killed the old President.

"The Revolutionary Council Commitee of Public Safety have dicerned that the killers of the Marquis Ste. Evremonde, former President of Bonstock, were the actions of government terrorists financed by the government in Maropian Coast. We must destroy all government holdouts in Bonstock, so that our comrades can rest without the fear of these terrorists. To arms, comrades! We must destroy everyone who dares support the terrorist regime, or we will all die a certain death. We are now calling up 30 million men to serve in our glorious military machine. We must make sure that they will defeat the enemy. As of now, our military is preparing for an assault on Maropian Coast. We will make certain we suceed at this, for all of Bonstock depends on it."

An order was recieved at Nozomi Station. The base was to be evacuated by air, especially all of the classified aircraft. Those not evacutated would disperse into the mountains. The airlift would take some 150 C 17s approximatly 2 full trips, hopefully. They would go to Maropian Coast, to be refitted and reorganized, and made ready for battle again.

The arilift would take two days, provided the base could hold out.

Fueled to rage by the assasination, and the balme for it, the rebel soldiers, thinking they are avenging Bonstock's great leader, step up the attack of the base. Tanks abandon the plans, and simply assault the base. Also enraged are the defenders, thinking that it was the communists who killed the old President. The tanks rolled past, being blasted by government anti-tank weapons, especially TOWs and Javelins. The light rebel tanks were no match for these missiles. They withdrew back from the attack, and called in another round of artillary. A deafening barrage knocked out dozens of facilities, and caused heavy casualties among the defenders. Then, the government sent a small counter attack. After a quick volley of artillary from 144 artillary pieces, the 2nd and 3rd Brigade of the 2nd Infantry Division. Veterens of White Tundra, the division broke through Dreisden panzers surrounding the White Tundra town of Volvgrad during the war, earning the nickname "Panzerfausts." Now, they attacked along the landing path of the C-17 planes, which would soon land and carry out as many people as possible, giving priority to the wounded. Attacking along their line of landing helped to prevent their being shot down by rebel light missiles. Possessing nothing but Stingers, the rebels could not shoot the Globemasters down at long range.

The rebels tried to attack, but 2nd and 3rd Brigades held stiff. The cargo planes came in, landing at the base. By the time they had all landed, which took 2 hours, the first ones to arrive had already left. Most of the wounded were gone now, and quite a few troops were now gone, relieved to be away from this hell, going to Maropian Coast. They would be back tommarrow, to finish the job. Though with the number of wounded, there may be a third trip. War planners on Maropian Coast would have to keep updating the evacuation plan. The last one would have to take place under cover of darkness, to prevent overrunning by opperatunistic rebels. A groups of men had volunteered to be the last men to withdraw, knowing that they may be firing out of their planes.

I'm confused. Who died, who's going where and how many died? I am also quite absorbed in Age Of Mythology, which would explain why I haven't posted. I've recently led an extended invation on Troy, complete with building the Trojan horse. I just need to get really good before winter break at which point I have to battle this one guy who's suppposed to by really good. This post will be the night before Evremonde gets killed. Supposedley while the three people are talking.Excuse me for my insanity

"This is base, you are cleared to lift off."

"Roger, base."

The pilots lifted off and commenced to fly toward the encampment. Froogle was going to watch it all via sattelite. He'd brought his own computer system from Kazo and plugged into the sattelite systems erected by the army in the field command base. All four plasma screens had been hooked up to the computer which was set up to show various stages of the bombing raid on the enemy encampment. The mechs had arrived a few hour earrlier and spec ops had been busy deactivating enough mines for the spy to get throug to the enemy. He'd been given winter clothes, an AK-47 and a hollowed out RPG launcher containing recording media and a few emergency supplies. He'd been specifically trained for such undercover missions and had gone through virtual simulations of many diffrent ways the mission could work out in the last few hours. He was l337. So was the computer.

"Approaching target, base."

"Roger that, continue towards target."

It was about to begin. Nearly 60,000 men would die, along with their ammunition, hardware and vehicles.

"Releasing bombs."

The spy had been sent. He was in the borderland. The bombs could be heard faintly where Froogle was located. It was also accompanied by the full-color streaming video from sattelites. Froogle opened some beer. "ownz3d, j0," he said to the screen as a few more camps were exploding. He drank down the beer. A few more explosions were heard. After this raid, the mechs would move deeper into enemy territorry. Ah, there was no real combat test for them yet. Boom. not yet.

"Mission completed, returning to base."

All went silent. The spy had radioed in as making it through to near a surviving camp. He'd be heard from again. Eventually. Maybe not until he reached Nozomi station.

ooc: only Evremonde got shot. Nozomi Station is being besieged, and evacutated by air.

ic:

A helicopter took off from the hostpital ship Aid 1. It flew deep into Bonstock, and landed at Nozomi Station. On board was a casket, and a few passengers. They exited down into a bunker, and the casket was buried in a small grave, alongside many other servicemen of Bonstock, many of them casualties of the wars in White Tundra and Multaan, with some from the war pounding still. Just another casualty.

On the outside of the base, 2nd and 3rd Brigades of 2nd Infantry Division held their ground. They fought off a detirmined counter attack by the 3rd Rebel Armored Division, destroying many of the rebel light tanks.

Then, a partol of the 3rd Brigade found a man, with an RPG and an AK 47. They stuck up their MP 40s and said "HALT!"

The man smiled and said "Hello."

"Who are you, and where are you going?"

"Are you with the government?"

"That would be correct. What is your business?"

"Bring me to your commander. I think I have lost my way."

The men brought him to the brigade headquarters. He was relieved of his AK and his RPG launcher. A close examination of the RPG revealed that it was filled with electronics. The Brigade Military Intelligence officers looked all over it. Then they called the man forward. He handed them some papers. "Are you from Zecro?"

The man responded "Yes. Give me back my RPG."

"All right. What do you want?"

"I need to see your President."

"Take the man to headquarters." one of them said to some guards. He was taken to the bunker, where the military staff waited."

"Respectable Sirs, I am from Zecro, here to help in your war."

"Yes. What information have you for us?"

"Well, our government is about to start our attack into Bonstock."

"Great. How long will it take?"

"That depends."

"S2 section, status report, Zecro border."

"According to our intelligence, some 50 infantry divisions are on the border."

"That could be a problem. Sir, will it take, say, two days for the mechs to reach here?"

"Two days? I dont think so."

"Accoring to our estimates, the base cant hold out that long. We are now evacuating."

"Very well. I shall wait for more information from my country."

"Tell us when you have information from Zecro."

"Yes."

Secrutity then escorted the man to some living quarters. Then, the next wave of C 17s landed, and started loading troops. By now, 1st and 2nd divisions were mere shadows of their former selves. Only some divisional artillary units, with a small hoolding force, remained. They included what was left of 2nd Division, and the 1st Brigade of 1st Infantry. They would be evacuated later.

Meanwhile, the rebels prepared for a final push, seeing that the government had only a fraction of its forces still present.

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away, the massive air task force assembled in the Sakishimas. A crippling airstrike was launched by government forces against rebel airfields and ships. The rebels responded by intercepting the fighters with dozens of F-15Cs. A ferocious dogfight ensued, claiming some 45 rebel and 57 government planes. Both air forces were temporarily grounded as a result of heavy losses. Still, the rebels struck back. Two squadrons of F-15E Strike Eagles attacked government airbases in the area, knocking out many helicopters. Then 8 rebel B1B bombers, escorted by 18 F-16s, launched a strike on rebel command and control facilities. There were blackouts in Maropian Coast, and air defence was temporarily on its own. But eventually, the air defense network was back online. One rebel B-1 was downed by a SAM.

Some pics were taken by crews of the various sides.

The fierce airwar raged on over the Sakishimas, diverting the attention of both High Commands. Another government wave, this time of JAS 39 Gripens, was to provide cover for an assault by helicopter and amphibious troops. LCACs came across, landing on both sides of the rebel controlled island. There were 200 of them in total, 100 landing on the south side, and 100 landing on the north side of the island. In addition, 257 CH 47 Sea Knights took off from their base.

The JAS 39s flew low, to come in undetected. But they had a very short distance to fly. They knew their targets: rebel communications, radar, and airfields. There were three known airfields on the island, onne in the north, one in the middle, and another near the town of Ishigaki. All were little more then dirt highways adapted for use as runways, but they all had air defense networks that could blow enemy fighters out of the sky instantly. The Gripens approached in waves, in a special anti-airfield tactic.

180 of them flew towards the targets. They were in 3 Fighter Wings, each assigned to destroy a rebel airfield. The 12th Fighter Wing was to attack the northern airfield, the 15th Fighter Wing was to attack the center one, and the 24th Fighter Wing was to attack the one near the town. An AWACS plane flew above, showing them the way.

Each wing was divided into three squadrons of 20 aircraft. The squadrons would arrive in waves. The first squadron would act as decoys, distracting enemy SAMs from high altitude, using careful maneuvers to avoid SAMs. Then the second wave would come in, and destroy the distracted SAM sites, allowing the third and final wave to strike at parked aircraft, hangers, and anything else of value. Then the planes would fly away.

Lieutenant General Robert Lung, aboard the AWACs plane, commanded the attack. He had found this tactic from some old World War II files. Though old, it still worked in the modern arena, so he thought. The first wave took off from their bases, and flew to the targets.

"Squadrons 1 of Wings 12, 15, 24, passing waypoint 1, vector 090 for targets, low."

"Roger. Dropping down." This was Colonel Albert Manstien, commander of the 15th Fighter Wing, and a veteran of actions in White Tundra and Multaan. He was in a fighter in the first wave of the assault. He remembered for a second his first combat mission, over the snowy hills of White Tundra. They jumped on and killed a bunch of Driesden fighters, surprising them. Once again, he was to surprise an enemy.

"Wave 1 closing in at 2 kilometers."

"Roger. Preparing for assault." Colonel Manstien made landfall, and he and his crew pulled up. The SAM warnings buzzed on an on. There were missile locks on all of them. Manstien made manuevers and deployed chaff, and ordered his crew to do so to. He looked on his screen to find that his wingman, Lieutenent Mark Andrews, had been shot down by a SAM. Why did they send us as decoys? he thought. The alarms continued to blare, and Manstien almost felt hopeless. He jabbed on his stick to dive, and deployed more chaff, with sweat pouring down his jacket.

"Wave two, closing in on target. Clear to fire."

"Roger, this is Wave 2, locking on targets." Manstien looked as dozens of HARM missiles streaked from their planes, towards enemy air defenses. He was releived, but knew the danger had not passed. He heard the cheers of the second wave as they told about their hits scored. Indeed, these were confirmed by the plumes of smoke coming from the ground from near the three airstrips.

"Wave 3, closing in on target area. Clear to lock and fire."

"Roger." They closed in, and fired anti-ground missiles at their targets. All over, parked planes blew up as the missiles came down. Hangers, control towers, and barracks were blown also as the Gripens of the third wave passed over. It was clear that the rebel air threat was silenced, allowing the invasion to take place.

It was clear below that dozens of submarines were now putting out to sea, in an effort to avoid the onslaught. They dove below the waves, fleeing the dying base. Their tenders, to, went away, disguised as Japannese merchent men. Meanwhile, the LCACs and Sea Knights flew below them, going to their target. The Gripens flew back to Maropian Coast, having lost only 7 out of 180 aircraft. Rescue helicopters, now unimpeded, flew in to rescue the seven pilots downed, mostly from the first wave. As Colonel Manstien landed, he was thankful that it could have been worse.

For the rebels, it was a disaster. In one, bold raid, almost half of their airforce was knocked out, destroying the possibilities of a bombing campaign over Maropian Coast. The submarine base was destroyed, meaning that only the sub tenders could resupply them.

Von Strauswitz got a telephone call informing him of the raid. The local air commander was instantly relieved of his command. But, von Strauswitz thought, there was still a way to defeat the enemy. By bogging them down in bitter jungle warfare, he could at least inflict severe casualties among the enemy. This, while his submarines prowled in the waters, cutting off supply lines, strangling the Free Bonstocknian effort. If it could not end the war, it would at least bring about a favorable peace.

As the Maropians landed, the new commander of Rebel forces on the island, Major General Alber Prill, decided to deploy his forces in a guerrilla fashion. The troops of the Rebel task force would land, and then wait, while supplies gathered on shore.

"Its Pemsel commanding them, I know." He said to one of his aides, referring to the commander of the invasion forces. "Rather cautious man, engineer, prefers to build up forces before an attack. This will be no exception."

"Sir, that is alot to know. Have you met him, sir?"

"General Pemsel is a friend of mine. Very close friend. We served together in Multaan. During the assault by 1st and 2nd Marine divisions on the Multaan coast, we mostly used helicopters. He commanded the battalion adjacent to mine. I rember, each battalion was assigned a certain number of helicopters. He just could not go in until all of his forces had been lifted. That took a little, but none of us were moving inland much. And his troops got hot meals from the mess section, altough alot of us went AWOL chasing the Multaanese women."

"You were in 1st Marine Division, right? I was there, as a private in 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division."

"Ah. I see. Yes, you seized the other half of the port."

"Yeah. Fine day that was. We encountered hardly any opposition."

"Yeah, those navy boys sure showed the Multaan rebels to their a---s."

"So, you game to fight your old friend?"

He thought for a moment. "Well, old Matt and I always competed, but that was friendly stuff in the academy. We wargamed once, back in the Academy. Similar situation. The very game hinged on a battle for an island. I had it, and he attacked it with all he had."

"What happened, sir?"

"Well, he landed his forces, got small beachhead, and made it a big logistics operation. I attacked him, but his defense was to stiff. Matt's a bull in defense. Mines blew up my fake forces, then they were machine gunned, and then, slowly, he advanced. Then the bell rang and we left." Then he looked onto the northern beachhead, where the government forces still gathered. "An unfinished game."

"What shall we do, sir?"

"Well, we do as he does. Build up defense, around the beachhead. Keep them from breaking out. Thats all we do."

"Yes sir. I'll get 1st and 2nd Divisions on it straight away."

"Perfect. You are dismissed, Captain."

The government guns built up in the pockets. Both of them were small, heavily defended. And opposite of them, a series of trenches were forming, defended by thousands of rebel troops.

Then the government artillary was put into position. The guns started to rise to their targets. Opposite, the rebel guns, identical in 155mm caliber an build, began to rise. Each side had some 360 of these guns, in their varios positions. On the ground, there were thousands of troops, ready to fight. They dug into to the ground, pointed their machine guns at the beyond.

Then, in the dead of night, a young private from Maropian Coast climbed up into a tree. He pointed his rifle at a column of enemy troops. He squezed the trigger, and his shot rang out. The clock rang twelve, and each side fired all the 155mm rounds they could put out.

The pounding continued throughout the night, with each side taking considerable casualties. The Maropian Marines waited for the barrage to stop. They duginto the ground, and the ones opposing them did the same. Dawn broke, revealing a cratered earth on the northern and southern fronts. The beachheads were strewn with wreckage. A brigade of rebel troops made a probe into defenses of the north front, only to be pushed back with heavy casualties. One Maropian Brigade did the same, and was nearly annihalated in the process. They were only saved when their commander, Nick Robin, decided against pressing the attack against a well defended area. High Command convened on the situation, about to embark on their flight from Nozomi Station.

"Sirs, we have come to a conclusion that the rebels hold a good position on the island. We think it best to hold only our beachheads, but go on a commando raid of the main town. It may be the only way."

"General Lung, I still believe out Marines can win."

"If they lose their lives. Look, they're creating a distraction. They're all tied down. Now we can go in and destroy them for all they're worth, by going intot he back door."

The President looked up. "Air Force General Lung, I agree. Send your forces to cut them off."

"Yes, Ms. President."

Dozens of helicopters take off from their bases in Maropian Coast. They make their way to the rebel-held island, to the main city located there. FLying low over the ocean, they encounter no opposition, as Maropian fighters patrol overhead. They see the land, and the large logistics operations still underway by the rebels, trying to land as many supplies as they can.

An advance wing of fighter aircraft flys in, and attacks the small port. Black clouds arise from the area as the planes drop their bombs.

The air defence of the area silenced, the helicopters land in the designated landing zone. Some 500 troops step out, and run among the debris-strewn town.

Rebel soldiers have taken up postitions in the rubble. Using their weapons against the hideouts, the government soldiers try to clear the area. Bitter street fighting starts breaking out in this relativly small town. But there are not enough rebels to effectivly hold the position. Seeing that resistance is hopeless, the commander flees, and his small forces, mostly units unsuited for combat, surrender.

Back at the Revolutionary Council Military Commitee, the men confer about the situation.

"Without the base, our position is unholdable."

"Then we must counter attack. There can't be many of them. They defeated out logistics and suport units, not our main force."

"Our main force is low on supplies."

"That is true. But we can land supplies at night, on the beach."

"That would be most complicated, but our fleet is mostly intact. Send them back here to get supplies."

"Sounds logical. We shall do so."

By now the small attacking force held the town of Ishigaki, and the rebels were cut off in the mountains. As of the time then, some 30,000 casualties had been taken on both sides. Field Hospitals were overflowing with wounded men and women. And still the artillary barrage continued, although the rebels were running out of time, out of material.

Revolutionary Council Military Comittee
Port Yuko, Bonstock

"Sir, we have just recieved word from 6th Army. Nozomi Station has been evacuated by the capitalists, but they bombed the last of it before we could get our hands on anything. We had vaugue reports of large, strange looking aircraft taking off and flying towards Maropian Coast. They flew to fast for us to catch."

"Damn, I could have used those. Whats the status report on the Ishigaki Campaign."

Well sir, 2nd Army reports that their forces are bogged down in hard warfare, fighting disease, artillary, and weather. We have reports of heavy weather in the area. In addition, our forces on the souther flanks are being pushed back. We assume the position to be untenable."

"Send in the amphibious fleets to withdraw them by helicopter, at night, under cover of darkness. Then make home for Bonstock. Give pritority to the wounded."

"Sir, that seems incredible."

"Then I shall do it myself."

"General von Strauswitz, what if the Zecro front gets bad?"

"Just get me my plane."

"Yes, sir."

Meanwhile, the invaders on the southern beach overran the airport, the only one that wasnt a small road strip. In the south of the island, it was capable of handling C-17 cargo planes with ease. But it was heavily bombed. Though small, it had been build up by a city of tents and temprorary steel hangars, which were now twisted rubble. Untill some engineers could get in, the airfield would not be able to handle vast amounts of cargo.

It took almost 12 hours for von Strauswitz to reach the island. He noted many distinct features. The government landings took place in the Karbina bay in the north and near the airport in the south. Ishigaki city ws now overrun by government storm troops. But there was a mountain, Mount Omoto, or Hill 243 on maps. If the artillary oculd be based here, and infantry defend the artillary in the thick jungles, there may be hope for the rebels. The forces were withdrawn, except one division left to guard a path to the sea.

ooc: http://www.ie.u-ryukyu.ac.jp/oldweb/Travel/Ritou/Ishigaki/Ishigaki.gif
Thank god for tourist websites! But anyway, the landings have taken place near the airport and aroung Karbira bay. In addition, Ishigaki city is located somewhere to the left of the airport, and government forces have linked up in that sector.

Coral reefs surround some of the beaches, complicating landings. LCACs are required, or high tide. Mount Omoto (Hill 243 to the Rebels, Hill 534 to the government), is located just south of the northern landing sectors, and is about 500 meters tall. Thick jungles are everywhere in the north, but the south seems to be flat farmland.

That, of course, is if I've interpreted the tourist websites right. If not... well, this is my RP.

"What is it, sir?"

"We believe its a rebel transmission. They are talking about an amphibious evacuation of Ishigaki island."

"Where is the arsenal ship?"

"Off the coast of Japann."

"Get them down here. I dont want the amphibious fleet to get away."

Aboard the bridge of RBV Grossbonstocknia, off the coast of Japann.

Rebel Fleet Headquarters
USSBV [United Socialist States of Bonstock Vessel] Proletariat, a Blue Ridge class command ship.

The ships closed in on the shore. Von Strauswitz looked out. It was almost night. The Maropians had been unable to overrun the rebels, thanks to their hold of the high ground. Now, helicopters would take them to safety, so they could fight another day.

Unbenownst to von Strauswitz, a stealth Government arsenal ship, escorted by a collection of Visby class corvettes, was headed towards him. They would reach the area by midnight. The helicopters must go quickly, or risk the annihalation of the fleet.

Already, the fleet was understrength. Losses meant that only 3 instead of 4 amphibious groups remained in the fleet. And there were no escorts. Only 60,000 troops of the 80,000 who came could be taken back. The rest would have to fight their way out. That, or they could crowd into the remaining ships.

As night fell, the helicopters took off. They headed for the mountains.

Meanwhile, a bunch of LCACs and LCMs went to shore to pick up rebels who could get to shore. They were sure not to interfere with the northern government forces.

It was 11:30 by the time they had gotten everyone. Most of the rebels were now evacuated, having left all of their equipment behind. They set charges to it, and made sure it was destroyed.

The ships were crowded from bow to stern with troops. It would be a miracle if they could be fed for the return journey to Bonstock.

Meanhwhile, some miles away, on the arsenal ship Grossbonstocknia, the fleet was targeted.

"Damn, thats one helluva fleet there, sir."

"Indeed so. Von Strauswitz I figure. Are we in range?"

"Almost."

"Set the targeting computers. Tell the crew to man their battlestations."

"Aye aye, admiral."

The seaman left the room, and went to tell his comrades to man their battle stations for the battle to come. Aboard the Visby escorts, the men prepared to engage in defenseive actions, should the ships come under attack. But they did have the element of surprise. Hopefully they could knock out this fleet before they could retaliate.

But they did not know the enemy had no way of striking back. The submarines had fled south.

Adoard Proletariat, von Strauswitz surveyed the action. No threats yet, but that can change.

Then, aboard RBV Grossbonstocknia, 600 hypersonic missiles were armed, and made ready to fire at a moments notice.

"Should we fire sir?"

Admiral von Steuben waited for a second. "Fire at will, seaman."

"Roger, sir." The seaman went down to the targeting room. The missiles were targeted. Someone cried out "This is for Bonstock!" Six hundred missiles flew from their pods towards the enemy.

-----------------------------------------

"What is this, sir?"

"I dont know, sir."

"Is it a missiles strike?"

"Those things are goin pretty fast. Hey, whats this?" He pointed to some small blips on the radar screen.

"Enemy ships, I bet. Pretty stealthy." Then his eyes widened. "My god! we're under attack!"

"SIR! SIR! WE"RE UNDER ATTACK! ALERT THE LEADER!"

"He is not to be disturbed at the moment. Please leave."

"BUT THIS IS URGENT! MISSILES! STRAIGHT AT US!"

"How far away?"

"About 200 km, closing fast."

"Well, CIWS gunners will be ready. Good night, sir."

Then whines of missiles closed in on the ships. The missiles exploded before they were heard.

"SEE? THOSE THINGS ARE DAMN FAST!"

Inside the cabin, von Strauswitz woke up, and looked out in alarm. Instantly he rushed out of his chamber with his staff, going to the command station.

The Blue Ridge command ship was heavily damaged by a direct hit. All around, other ships were sinking. The radar operators, screaming, ran to the life boats. They passed the impact point, full of screaming men, blown apart by the blast. Many were already dead, covered in red caskets of their own blood strewn with grey debris and dust. The ship began to take on water, and the wounded eventually drowned in the splashing waves. No one could save them. No one could help them.

The operators followed von Strauswitz, who got into a lifeboat. It was to full of members of his staff, so the operators, feeling the start to go under, jumped for their lives into the freezing night water. Swimming as fast as possible, they tried to get away. The swam in a pool of blood, oil, and wrekage. They saw arount them as missiles continued to pound at the remaining ships of the great fleet. They saw remainging CIWS guns, trying to knock out the missles, but there were to many. The hopes of the rebellion passed forever with the souls of 150 thousand comrades.

"Those d--n Maropians are only winining the war because of foreign powers supporting them."

"Well, god d--nit, we must retaliate. Here's my new plan. We will send a submarine squadron (ooc: 6 Los Angelas class) to Abu Dhabi Kristatata. They are our allies as members of the Marxist Pact. They should let us base submarines in their ports on the Baltic, from which we can bring the war to Free Rumania."

"Sir, what about Thirtycaliber and Wolfish? And Epitan?"

"Well, the Free Eepitans sure do seem like their advanceing. And I'm disturbed by news of their amphibious fleet departing. We'll send a squadron of subs to intercept them, and keep them from here. Once they destroy the amphibious fleet, they will procede to Eepitan itself, and use Tomahawk missiles to bombard the upstart Capitalists. They should base out of Communist Eepitan. As for Thirtycaliber, we must hit them where they're overstreached. We must send a squadron to destroy their fleet off the shores of Nimbata. Wolfish, that leaves. We will send in a sub force right into their main harbor, which is also their capital. Bonstocknains have fought once there, and by disrupting them, we may be able to prevent them from entering the war. Send out the forces. By the way, I want a full sub group (ooc: 24 LAs, one tender) partolling north of the Sakishimas. I want them to find and destroy what hit our amhibious fleet. I figure its the new arsenal ship.

"Very well sir. But what if it deepens the resolve of the enemy, and gives help to the capitalists?"

"It will distract forces. The nations will become paranoid, and will be unable to send forces as they need all they can to protect their motherland. We will make them think we are attacking with more then they have. Believe me, it will send shivers down their spine."

"Yes, General von Strauswitz."

"Good news, sir. Wolfish wont be fighting."

"Perfect. I thought they would. Now we can concentrate on our attack on Free Rumania and Thirtycaliber. Where are the subs?"

"The squadron attacking Thirtycaliber and Free Rumania just got out of the Straits of Malacca, and have split up. Still no word from ADK or Russian Forces on basing our subs, but I'm sure we can work out a deal."

"Perfect. What about the one attacking the Eapitanians?"

"About to make contact with the convoy."

"Perfect. Tell them they have permission to fire."

Aboard U-54, a Los Angelas class submarine

"Captain, we are approaching the targets."

"Roger. Tell the squadron to dive low."

The captain looked into the periscope, and saw dozens of amphibious ships, all in a convoy, along withtheir escorts. He knew the whole operation depended on surprise. They must destroy as many ships as they could before the escorts struck back. He got on the radio, and said, "Fire torpedoes."

The 6 submarines fired off 4 torpedoes each at the enemy, aiming as well as they could. They dove away, trying to avoid the enemy.

Comrades,

The Fourth Congress of the Wohlstand Communist Party is considering aiding the Revolutionary Council in their struggle towards the consolidation of free socialism. However, given the current turmoil outlined in the previous reports, the higher echelons of the People's Confederal Guard are debating why the Triunal Republic should aid you in your conflict. As you may well be aware, the Triune is strong, with nearly three-billion citizens, and a military approaching three-hundred million personnel. However, we would like to know what you are prepared to offer in exchange for our aid.

"Yes, Ms President. Right this way."

Suddenly, an intelligence officer burst into the room. "Ms. President, I have disturbing news."

"What is it, Lieutenant?"

The officer handed her a transcript.

To: Revolutionary Council Military Commitee
From: Headquarters, 6th Tank Army
Subj: Findings from Maropian Coast

Sirs,

We have found intact the plans for a bomb in this area. The bomb, according to the plans, is so powerful that it can destroy a nation in one shot. It has a design similar to the AMF HOUND, but much more powerful. We recommend our scientists review the plans, and build a copy for our use.

The President crumpled the paper. She looked out of the window, and said to the officer "At all costs, I want their efforts stifled. Do everything you must to prevent them from aquiring this weapon. If this is not met, we will lose the war. I hope that I make myself clear."

"Yes Ms. President." The officer then left the room.

Von Strauswitz looked out of the window. His staff stood behind him, talking about the new wonder weapon. Von Strauswitz turned and asked one of his commanders, "How long will it be before Maropian Coast destroys our submarine fleet?"

"Six months if its perfect for them," his naval commander responded."

"Then in six weeks, I want this bomb ready."

"But sir!"

"Six weeks. The war depends on it."

"Yes sir."

"I hear that your plans for the bomb have been intercepted," said ninj4 to the passing intelligence officer.

"Hey, how do you know about that?" was the reply.

"I know more than you can imagine. I'm not a spy for nothing, you know," he said. "Take me to Hu Li. I have a proposal. I know you need those plans, or at least to know when it'll be ready."

"I suppose i need to do everything I can. Follow me."

Ninj4 was escorted to Hu Li's office.

"Ms President, this man from Zecro wants to speak to you about the intercepted bomb plans," said the officer.

"How does he know?!"

"I don't think its a matter of us knowing. I think its a matter of them knowing. Which is where I could help you with."

"Well, if you want to do that," said the President to the spy, "you have twenty four hours. I want the entire program in ruins."

The spy nodded and left the room, somewhat frightened by the timeline.

Meanwhile, in Port Yuko, von Strauswitz looked out the window, and said to his staff, "When will the bomb be ready?"

"It is almost ready now. Come, sir."

They went deep into an underground bunker below the old Bank of Bonstock building. Workers surrounded a tiny production unit, looking at the bomb inside. Von Strauswitz smiled, and patted it.

"Soon, I will have the power to destroy entire nations! The world will heed to my command!"
