Nakjo: i hate to say it but GF4 may be right, the jump between an older jet trainer and the type conversion trainers for a modern frontline fighter (F16 or newer) is going to be huge and hold up your training as your pilots not only have to get used to the abilities and weapon system of the fighter but also the entirely new control setup and the likely full glass cockpit (with possible helmet mounted sight).

There are a number of way around this, 1 is to use the older jets then transfer onto a limited number of advanced jets for a quick familarisation with upto date systems the other method is to simpley use a full complement of advanced trainers, this is more cost effective and simpler and the option chosen by most western airfroces (with the brits now going for the updated hawk).

option 1 might still be useful if you don't have any cheap prop driven light aircraft for very basic instruction but it wouldn't really be cost effective as the prop craft are much much cheaper.

As an intrim measure the Kingdom of Crookfur would like to offer to upgrade all your current trainers to feature glass cockpits (3-4 MFDs and a hud) with HOTAS controls (and possible fly by wire systems) and an improved avionics siute for a mere $1million per aircraft.

Crookfur, i'd also like to upgrade my trainer aircraft. I have 10 of the tweety bird trainers Nakjo uses. That would be $10Mil wouldn't it, do we have a deal?

500,000 traning craft!!!!!

OOC: thats is a bit much, just to pay your techs to keep them operational is goign to cost you about $50-70billion a year and unless you feild soemthing like 3 million front line fighters you really don't need that many.

IC: This will take some time, we should managed to upgrade 500 airframes per year (RL day) the funds to pay for each batch will be debited as each are completed (ie covers me for when you realise how rather OTT your numbers are after all the USAF only has at most 600 fighter trainers of avrious types in service so i would tend to max mine at 1000).
