110 bucks for a knife? please
They're not really a 'blood grooves', that's a common missconception.
It's been a while, tho, so I can't recall it's purpose off-hand, but really, how often will a knife or other blade be in someone, in just the right position, and for long enough, for such a thing to have any kind of impact?
The blood grooves make it easier to remove from a body. I think the clip point also has somethgin to do with that.

As for the blood groove, that is what it is commonly called, by me so that's what it is called. It is extremely useful when stabbing into muscles and organs. When the knife sticks in musles contract and sometimes a simple suction is created by the force with which the blade penetrates. Without the groove, you may end up losing your knife in the bowels of some enemy.
It only takes 2-4 seconds for someone to be killed by a Ka-BAr or any edged weapon for that matter. There are several points on the body which facilitate quick kills with a blade, even if the target is wearing body armor, the vitals can be hit before he has time to yell.
