United Elias
29-10-2003, 01:25
Following a decision by the Ministry of Defence to restructure the Air Force Reserves many aircraft will be withdrawn from service before the planned end of their operational service life. The large costs of maintaining the AFR is seen as unnceccessary and with such a large frontline Air Force it is estimated that the reserves no longer need to be as large. Approximately 50% of the aircraft will go into desert storage and 50% will be sold off internationally. The MoD however continues to state that the AFR still has a role in the defence of Elias but it simply does not to be so large.

The EA-108A was deveploped by Elias Aerospace (then Elias Aeronautics) first entered service in 1987 to replace the extremely dated Il-28 tactical bomber. The EA-104 was the first aircraft to be designed completely in United Elias and it was built to fulfill a request for a supersonic twn engined interceptor that would compliment and replace the Mig-21. However due to the advent of the more capable Mig-29 and other types by 1988 only 356 EA-104Bs remained in service. A decision was taken in 1989 to upgrade just 220 aircraft to the 'C' standard and sine then these aircraft have either been placed in reserve or placed in desert storage. although its history has not always been succesful the 'Dagger' was for twenty years the most numerically important fighter in the Elias Air Force and has gained a reputation for simplicity, reliability and performance.
