Military Seeks Corperate Sponsorship

28-10-2003, 08:06
The Dominion of Cape Breaton is officially seeking corperate sponsorship to assist in the purchasing of new uniforms and equipment for the nation's Legion's of Terror(tm).

Currently, the recently formed nation's over-stretched military is armed with a wide assortment of weapons, ranging from WW2 M1 Grands to .50 cal anti-material sniper rifles, from AK-47s to, in some cases, lead pipes; pretty much anything they can get their hands on.

Worse still are the uniforms; the fact they were aquiored from Paramount and similar locals when they were clearing out their prop warehouses doesn't help matters, but field conditions and poor maintaince have only worsened them. As one citizen put it while pointing to a group of soldiers in Imperial StormTrooper getup, just befor he was beat to death by said Troopers, "It's pretty had to be terrified of the government when their thugs dress up as guys who had their blasters handed to them by a bunch of furry midgets with spears."

All reasonible(and likly even those not-so reasonible) offers will be entertained.

Umm, we were kinda hoping for freebies...

OOC: This is an RP nation; think post-nuclear wasteland with half the infastructure of pre-war Iraq and none of the oil, recently taken over(say a few years ago) by a wannabe super villan and(origionally) a few hundred well-armed thugs and mercs. Sense then he's been trying to consolidate and rebuild his new empire, enlarging the 'military', etc.

Most of the army's made up of recruited street gangs anyway, so all those fancy toys would likly find themselves 'missplaced' from their armouries and instead into makeshift chop-shops :D

The Republic of Ancient Terra offers surplus desert camoflague uniforms. They were purchased only 5 years ago, unfortunately Ancient Terra has no deserts, so they're rather useless. We offer the whole batch of 60,000 uniforms, as long as you don't mind having a low-profile Toys-R-Us Ad stitched onto the shoulder.

That is all. :D

Good Morning,

My name is Sophia Berezhin. I am the Minister of National Defense for the Dominion of Kotterdam. I am certain you are a busy individual, and thus I will keep this brief. I have a proposal you may be interested in.

To put it simply, in exchange for allowing the construction of a Theater Headquarters within your borders, the Dominion will outfit your military with surplus military equipment from our own stocks.

What do we have to offer you? FN-FAL rifles, shotguns, anti-tank weapons, uniforms, and advanced MBT-3A1 tanks. AH-1W Super Cobra helicopters, F-72 fighters, Grizzly APCs, H-60 Black Hawk helicopters, Halifax-class Frigates, Belknap-class Guided Missile Cruisers, and more.

We will equip and train your forces in the use of these weapons. We will arm you and teach you to protect yourself, and all we require is a piece of land. We will construct an airbase capable of handling the C-5, the largest of our cargo aircraft, a seaport for our navy, and facilities to support an expeditionary force should we be required to act against nations in the East Pacific.

A fighter wing will be based there, along with heavy and medium armoured units, mechanized infantry, and the facilities to support a far larger force should it become neccesary. These trained forces would, of course, defend your nation in all legitimate conflicts.

Consider our offer carefully. By the time our nation is through with yours, we will have instilled a fierce sense of honour and discipline in your armed forces. They will be well trained and equipped, a defense force to be proud of.

Sincerely,
Rt. Hon. Sophia Berezhin
Minister of National Defense

Ancient and Holy Terra:

We can work with that; offer accepted.

Moontian:

We don't have an air force, and our navy consists of confiscated shallow river boats and a stolen bulk freighter that ran aground on an underwater sand bar several years ago and now serves as a prison. Our few attempts at retrofitting craft into patrol boats were eaten by mutated sea creatures.

But we'll take them anyway.

Stupid Marriage:

We'll take whatever you'll give us, but we would perfer infantry, armour, and anti-air equipment and ammunition; aside from the fact that no one has a clue how to fly or maintain aircraft, they're typicly expensive to maintain and operate.

Kotterdam:

We are somewhat unsure about inviting an unknown nation's military into our country; especially one that could so obviously kick our asses without breaking a sweat. Even if your intentions were charitible, it would give you unprecidented influance, and make us a prime target for anyone in our region who you may make an enemy of.

Besides, local background radiation levels are fairly high in most areas; probally not something you want your troops exposed to for prolonged periods. That, and the chance the local sealife might eat your ships and low-flying aircraft.

BUMP

(The preceeding bump has been brought to you by a kid selling lemonade by the street, in exchange for not hurting him for not realising he had to pay protection money. So remember, buy that kid's lemonade! It's all that's keeping him out of the hospital)

The uniforms are on their way, via (gulp...) air. We desperately hope you've got an airstrip, or you're going to have to pick your uniforms up from the wreckage of our cargo planes.

Incidentally, we're offering 20,000 surplus "jungle combat" uniforms. They're in generally good condition, and I'm pretty sure you can patch the few bullet-holes and clean off the couple of blood stains.
29-10-2003, 14:37
A military force should always be kept in good condition and well dressed, to best strike fear in the hearts of those who would oppose you. I would be glad to send you 10,000 ND brethren uniforms, they consist of:

A Dark Red robe with hood.
Face Mask
Decorative Sacrificial Dagger

I would be glad to send you these for free, provided that you use them to spill the blood of the unbeleivers.

the Takian Army has been liquidating its old assets, and has come across 10 unussed guille suits. As we don't need them, we will send them to you in the hopes they you can use them to better effect than we have.

*edit* on second look, we've also located 130 T-90 tanks and 50 M1A1 tanks that we will be phasing out for the Squallem and Appocolypse class tanks respectivly. They will be shipped out with the Guille suits, unforutunatly, we dont have any gas or ammo to send with them, but we hope you can make due.

We dug around the storage shed and found some 1000 "old" uniforms. They are in desert-style and all you need to is remove the Crusader Cross badges.

We'll fly them in if you want.
29-10-2003, 15:21
We were rooting around in the hangar a while ago and dug up some old M4's, AKS-74U's and LAW's.

We also found over one hundred old style Freedom Country Corporal's uniforms.

So, ther ya go.
30-10-2003, 21:09
Thank you all for your donations; we've plenty of uniforms for the moment(tho we could always use more), but are lacking in fuel and ammo supplies, as well as small arms and other infantry weapons.

Ancient and Holy Terra:

I'm afraid I have to report that one of the cargo planes was eated by sealife while conducting a low altitude pass of the coast; the others made it safly down on a hastily converted highway, but we lack the supplies to refuel them for their return trip, and parts apear to have disapeared from two others befor we doubled the watch around them.

We will give you "Wasteland style"(Desertish with gas masks and protective gear )uniforms and 3 mobile anti air turrets with small arms and heavy weapons IF you let us hunt down your sealife for training we will be able to prevent radiation poisioning and we would like permission to capturre some of these creatures for "research".

Help yourself!

All we ask is that you share your findings with us.

OOC: Some of the buggers are as large as a super carrier, so expect to take losses if you get anywhere near the water. In fact, it's possible that one or two actually used to be a Nimitz-class carrier
Taka
31-10-2003, 12:43
 Thats a big freaking fish. If you have any land creatures like that we have a nich of super rich hunters, a small group, but a very wealthy one, that would be willing to pay you sums of money to go on saffari in your country and take trophies of these creatures. It would provide your economy with a yearly boost, and think of the population control.
31-10-2003, 13:13
There've been unsubstantiated sightings of such, but there's not much on the land that could suport them what with mostly being a post-nuclear wasteland, so they'd likly be small in number. The general wildlife is also fairly exotic and, in many cases, agressive and around the size-class of conventional big game.

We'll look into it, but in the mean time, your hunters are welcome to come have a look-see for themselves; just be sure they stay well away from the water. Our expanding borders have recently come to encompass several openings to what is belived to be an extensive system of large caves, and there have been a handful of sightings and more than a few unexplained disapearances, so that'd likly be a good place to start.

We do advise any hunters travel in large, well armed groups(.50 cal antimaterial sniper rifles are recomended), and utalise their own all-terrain transport; both for protection from the wildlife and opertunistic locals.

Also, any trophies should be treated for extensive radiation contamination, and under no circumstances should local meat be eaten(in fact, they'd be better off bring their own food and water all together).

A small plane decends through the cloud cover touching down aside a large highway in Cape Breaton. Three gentlemen, in British style safari suits step out, each carrying a Takian Arms Company SMG. The leader rams a clip in and turns to his fellows.
"well now, lets go, our supplys should be here soon."
A second, large plane passes overhead, crates being dropped from it in the distance. The three gentlemen step off towards them, looking to recover thier hunting equipment.

"Right now, the government knows we are here, and we've got our hunting permit?"

"Right oh good chap, cost us a pretty penny too, and they made us sign liability forms too, though I can't imagine why, nothing I can think of could through the armor of the raider we procured."

They came upon the crates, and within minutes had unpacked the Raider light tank, and loaded both the 50 mm cannons, and the 20 mm cannons. They loaded it with food and water, and made their way towards the nearest town.
31-10-2003, 21:29
OOC: You realise that plane will be gone well befor your guys get back(assuming they actually manage to get back).

You wanna solo this or shall I play GM?

((OOC: if you don't mind, I'd like you to run GM for a bit, and yes, OOC I know it'll be gone, but they don't. hehe, not that it matters, they most likely just buy anouther one. I'm going to be using slightly future tech weapons, if thats alright, but mostly for the purpous of story line))

"say, should we lock the plane?"

"why would we need to do anything like that?"

"well they said the locals might be a bit. .. frisky"

"oh rubish, get in the blasted car."

The three moved into the armored vehicle, relaxing in the plush interior.

"real leather?"

"better than that, Avian Skin, very comfortable"

"I'll be, they pack this with everyhting. . . um do those have ammunition?" George asked, pointing to the firing controls of the two inch cannon on front, a belt of large shells came from a small loft in the ceiling into what appeared a massive breach, and a collection plate for ejected shells.

"that and the 20 millimeter guns up top, we've got plenty so don't worry about conserving ammo, but give the buggers a fighting chance, and try to only fire one shot at a time, we want to give them a sporting chance after all. got your rifle? Good, I'll drive, Henry will be top gunner and you get first dibs on side gunner."

"oh good" George said "I pray we see something large, I'd hate to have brought this for nothing" he says, shouldering a large caliber semi automatic rifle. Lets head towards town, see what we can find."

The light tank rumbled to life, and shot off, leaving a trail of dust and empty shipping crates behind it.

((OOC: the vehicle is a Raider light tank/heavy recon, here's an image with a link to stats.

Ancient Terra is saddened by the loss of its C-5, but as we're phasing them out to make way for the 'Exodus' Super-heavy lift aircraft, it's not much of a loss. In fact, we request that you keep the few C-5D Galaxies still stranded in your country. Although you might not have the money to maintain them at the moment, we will provide you with all the parts you need.

A Gulfstream Jet is enroute to your country to pick up the stranded pilots. We'll be taking a route that is both high-altitude and overland.

We recomend your next plane also bring enough fuel for the return trip.

It soon became obvious why the local government had decided to use this highway as a runway, why no other traffic passed them on their journey, and what all those warning about radiation contamination had been about as the hunter's tank crested a small hill and the road simply vanished a hundred meters ahead; a crater nearly a kilometer across the monument to where a thermonuclear bunker buster had suceeded in it's singular purpose of self-immolation.

The botttom of the crater, a third as deep as it was across, was covered with debris; most large chunks of rock, with the ocasional glint of metal visible here or there; green-tinged water pooling near the center. If one were to investigate, they may descover the small basin's drainage to be in the form of several cave openings, exposed by the ancient blast yet obscured from plain sight amidst the strewn bolders.

EDIT:
Anti-Terror, while we apreciate your offer, we can't accept the presence of forgine troops on our soil at this time. Besides, your navel assets wouldn't survive very long near our waters.

"Lets pull in there" George shouted over the wind, pointing towards the impact crater "see if we can find anything hiding in the rocks."

The tank rolled towards the crater, the geiger charts reading levels of ambiant radiation that was dangerous. George reluctantly slid his chair back in, closing the door and starting the NBC filtration system.

"Guess Henry will get first kill of the trip, a pitty to, though I still think I'll outshoot him, pound for pound."
02-11-2003, 21:33
Nothing moved amidst the boulders as the hunter's watched; a flash of movement, likly something fairly large, is seen after a few minutes, as if something darting between two of the large rocks, but that's it.

If one were to get out and amoung the rocky debris, they would find a set of fresh, misshapen tracks leading into a previously concealed, largish cave; probally too small for the tank, but not by much. It's hard to tell, but from the tracks, the creature is likly around twice the weight of a full grown buffalo.

They moved on for a while, till a flash of movment caught thier eyes. Henry swiveled the 20mm gun in its dirrection, spraying bullets down the gully, but to no avail. George looked over at Max, the driver,

"well, should we get out and see what's over there?"

"a good idea" Max said, "what do you think George?"

"I think I want anouther shot at whatever that was. . . lets go"

They parked the Raider, stepping out with their weapons leveled and ready.

"one of us should stay here," Max said, looking at the other two, who shruged "alright, we'll draw lots on it"

They drew lots, Max picking the short straw. "well, fair is fair, I'll get dinner ready for you by the time you get back"

The other two trudged off into the rock and boulder strewn crater, guns locked, loaded, and ready. Henry knelt down, looking over the broken ground, and fingered a track between the glassy shards.

"whatever it is, its big, and it went, that way" he says, pointing towards the still hidden cave. The two of them moved over towards it, hoping to be able to get a shot at whatever it was, long before it was ever aware of them.
