Tortuga lashes out

28-10-2003, 06:31
:: The seas around the Macabean Empire were rough and choppy, a storm was rolling over the lands near the city of Sevilla, currently controlled by the Allied States. Several miles off the coast the Allied Fleet Carrier ANS Ark Royal and it's escorts pushed their way through, rolling up and down voilently in the tossing seas. Large scars were gouged in the hulls of several ships, gaping holes in others, including the Ark Royal. But in land, inside the city of Sevilla, soldiers from the Allied States and the Tortugan Second Empire littered the streets, even Macabean citizens were part of the bloodshed.

Artillery and aerial attacks had left the city a burnt out shell, but what Tortuga had come for was still intact, the Allied Naval Base, it's supplies, and even some of the prize ships that were there. The battle had been long and fierce, the scattered 4,500 Allied Marines holding off the Tortugan Armies (5 Divisions strong, 2 Infantry, 2 Mechanized, 1 Armored) through the streets of Sevilla in a desperate bid to hold off until the Allied 2nd Marine Division could arrive, but with the fall of the city center and it's unhurt roads the Tortugans had smashed through the city defenses. No quarter was given to Allied Marines or Macabean Citizens, and the cost had been high, over 10,000 Tortugan Casualties in only a few days of fighting, of which only one was in the city. T

he biggest heartbreak had been to smash into the Naval Base just in time to watch the biggest prize of all, the Ark Royal slip beyond the Tortugans grasp, but they had indeed captured two King I class Battleships and several destroyers, still, the escape of the Ark Royal had been disheartening.

By now the Tortugan Armies of the Tortugan Mainland were encircling the Allied Naval Base and occupied city of Port Royal, intending to take it, but it was held by the 2nd Marines and about to be reinforced by an Allied Army Corps and word that the other three Fleet Carriers of the Allied Navy had left Corregidor and Formosa spread panic through the Tortugan Navy, the amphibious assault cancelled, settling in for a seige. Tortuga was beginning the first stages of it's rise again to power, beginning with punishing the Allies for the humiliation of the Tortugan War, this could of course only be accomplished by first destroying the Allied States Navy and the much smaller Canadian Fleet, and Port Royal and the waters around it were about to become the battleground for this war effort....::

(( Yes, as far as I am aware you are, you were part of the last war and directly linked to this one, we are looking for a more tactical and longer war then the last time, so we ask you deploy limited forces, like to equal another Allied Nation or Tortugan Forces in the area. You might aso want to be notified that on Tortuga proper, he is be-seiging my Naval Base at Port Royal on his mainland, both of these theatres are going to be mainly a Naval War for awhile, and the Port Royal one will be bigger if your interested, and to Ravea, your forces are much appreciated and you can use them however you want in this war, we could use the Subs in the are to raid Tortugan supply convoys, had to say all this OOC since I couldn't think of a way to fit it in IC ))

*Admiral Connors held himself tightly to the deck of the Ark Royal, the damn storm had been raging on for the past few days, all air operations suspended. He watched the Perry class frigate James Russel slowly glide along beside the massive Fleet Carrier, lazily rolling up the waves and come back down. He knew his time was short, Sevilla was so far away from the main theatre of war that Allied Command would likely not keep a Fleet Carrier stationed there.

But Connors wanted to be certain that none of the Allied ships that were in port would ever get back out while flying Tortugan colors. At the moment the Tortugans controlled slighlty more ships, but had the serious dis-advantages of no Aircraft Carriers, and only obselescent aircraft being flown from inland bases with limited range. The Ark Royal had nearly free reign of the air and sea if only the storm wasn't limiting it. The longer he it went the more time the Tortugans had to sneak the ships out.

He had no doubts the Tortugans would not attempt to hold Sevilla, the Allied States would retake it or the Macabeans would quickly, so the Tortugans would move quickly to get those ships back to Tortuga to help their beleagured Navy. He knew he could not let this happen, the Navy was the most prided service of all in the Allied Militaries (I spend about 72% of my budget on it so it better damn well be) and had a long history, including the fact that an Allied Navy Battleship or Aircraft Carrier had never been captured. With two battleships now in Tortugan hands at Sevilla it was up to Connors to preserve the Navies proud history, and ensure those two Battleships never made it to Tortuga....*

At the crack of dawn, the 5th Fleet, commanded by Fleet Admiral Johannes Sebastian Drakon, steamed out of the Five Civilized Nations Naval Academy at the city of North Watch, ahead of the scheduled naval review. The Fleet was mainly a carrier one, consisting of five Trireme Class Fleet Carriers, nine Heaven's Will Class Aegis Cruisers, six Hammerhead Class Destroyers, four Titan Class frigates, and four Virginia V Class SSNs.
