Attican Empire selling Diamond Plate

27-10-2003, 23:52
The Attican Empire is selling Diamond Plate, 2' by 2' by 2". (2 foot 2 foot 2 inches) for $150 a plate (artificial mass produced diamonds are cheap). Now, what you do with them is your own problem, but note:

Diamond is lighter than steel.
Diamond is harder than steel.
Diamond is easier to crush than steel (a hammer will shatter it).

how much for 50,000 tons?
27-10-2003, 23:53
Read, we sell it by the PLATE. Not by the ton.

we need 5 million 750 million wired. Can yous ell us the technology?
27-10-2003, 23:56
You are aware how long it would take us to make 5 million plates?

Attican, you deserve a standing ovation for this feat of salesmanship.
27-10-2003, 23:57
how long? Can you just sell us the technology? We are looking to build ships with dimond armour...
27-10-2003, 23:58
Thank you.

OOC: JFYI, Attican Motorwerke engineers are working on ways to make diamond based armor... the best they can stop is a tank shell though. It uses layers of diamond, steel, and ceramics.

LOL, you rock.
27-10-2003, 23:58
so can you sell us the technology?
28-10-2003, 00:00
Lima - ummm even if we did you couldn't use it. Your economy is weak in comparison to ours...

So anyone want to purchase the plating? Remember, it is ONLY diamond plate, 99.99999% pure. And it is artificial.

ok. Thank you for replying we'll elave you. But we'll start our own program. *dreams of ships with dimond armour*

1 million plates please. And for your achievement you get the 5-star seal of approval! http://www.isc.tamu.edu/~lewing/gallery/seal-kid.3.jpg Only 2 people got it! You and dontgonearthere
28-10-2003, 00:08
Again, we cannot accept offers of over 10,000, otherwise the factories will be filled. We can only make about ~210,000 a year.

We'll take hmm... 800 Plates then, for the special forces, could we get them cut down to 1' x 1'? Or will I have to do this?
28-10-2003, 00:28
You would need to cut them. $120,000 then.

Just for you Attican!

How exactly are you doing this? I'm aware that carbon-12 can be made into diamond when put under enough pressure, but, what are you doing to get that much pressure?
28-10-2003, 00:46
It's called 'Carbon Dusting'. It has been done in real life with much success. Basically, you take a seed peice of diamond, put it in a vacuum chamber, and spray carbon atoms into the chamber.
28-10-2003, 00:49
Ah, interesting. I figured that you basically took carbon-12 and put it under enough pressure so that it formed diamond.
28-10-2003, 00:50
Well, we are making 'industrial' diamond. We can make either clear or black. we prefer clear unless special order. High pressure manufacturing is good for gem diamonds.
28-10-2003, 00:51
Is there a difference between the two (black and clear) and will any paint/spray paints damage the material?

((Artitsan Puppet, forgot to log out))
28-10-2003, 00:52
Black is black diamond, clear is clear :). No real difference.
