Dr. Rupert M. Treece, a Visiting Professor of Chemical Engineering, died in a firebombing at the Chemistry Building during a Monday morning lecture that injured twelve others. Two anti-military proliferation protestors were arrested. Interim President Vladimir Gurav denounced the attacks, and UN Ambassador Varin Mikhail simultaneously issued a statement of apology to the nation of Chicken Island. The two other visiting professors from Chicken Island, Katherine M. Moore, Professor of Aeronautical Engineering, and Anastasia Pulonova, Professor of Environmental Engineering, were moved to a secure location until it is clear that the terror threats have passed.
Mikhail and Gurav are expected to vie for the Presidency when elections are held in November.
