The Grays Hill storefront can be viewed here. (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=50762&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)

The nation of Grays Hill continues to blatantly godmod in its storefront, after repeated demands that it raise its prices to realistic levels.

Examples of godmodding in the Grays Hill storefront:

Nuclear weapons for as low as 10 million dollars.
Tomahawk cruise missiles for only 100,000 dollars. Real life price: Approximately 500,000 dollars each.
Nimitz class aircraft carrier for only 900 million, originally was 900 billion. Real life price: Approximately 4.5 billion in total acquisition costs; just the ship is 1.5 billion.
Spruance class destroyers for only 25 million. In real life, the yearly operating costs for one of these vessels is 35 million.
SeaWolf class sub for only 600 million. Real life cost: Approximately 1.5 to 2.1 billion. Many other nations, including the government of Great Mateo, willingly godmod prices of these subs down to around 1 billion, but not close to the obscenely low prices of the Grays Hill storefront.
M3 Bradley fighting vehicle for 850,000 dollars. Real life cost: $3,166,000.
M1-A2 Abrams tank for only 1 million dollars. Real life cost: $4.5 million
Su-34 (Su-27IB) for only 17 million dollars. Real life cost: $35 million.
F/A-18 Hornet for $18 million. Real life cost: $28.1 million
B-2 Spirit for $800 million. Real life cost: Approximately $1.2 billion.

And a final showing of poor knowledge, Grays Hill has the Apache priced obscenely high, at $35 million. It's real life cost is $14.5 million. According to their government, a single helicopter costs more than an entire destroyer.

Grays Hill has provided no explanation as to how he can price items so low and still make a profit, and their government also refuses to admit that they may be guilty of godmodding at all. This storefront serves no other purpose than to steal sales from honest nations, and to worsen the already large problem of young nations claiming to have huge militaries and weapons of mass destruction. With this said, the government of the Armed Republic of Great Mateo moves for an international boycott of and\or sanctions against the Grays Hill storefront.

OOC:
Most people sell B-2 Spirit for $900 million. Now, most of the examples are godmodding but don't compare the NationStates economy to real life economy too often.

I beleive that in a capitalist society, the seller of goods can set any price he wishes and does not need to change it due to the pleas of others.

And why is he selling them for such a low price? Maybe they're used... maybe their shoddy products, we don't know. Now let the boy go and sell his stuff.

The FEF would like to extend it's support for the idea of boycott or sanction. A store such as this should be policed as to stop the nuclear prolilferation of the known world.

I agree with being allowed to set whatever prices one desires, however, when these prices are so low that it would be impossible for the manufacturer to not take a massive loss on each sale, there is something wrong. I know for a fact that his systems are not used, as he tried to tell me that building things special order instead of mass producing is how he can keep things that cheap (a load of BS, I might add). This is just flat out godmodding, plain and simple.

No its for people who want to support the boycott, but need stuff.

Well he needs some serious price adjustment he doesn't have to mirror the exact RL prices but pricing them within a few million of the real cost would be more reasonable.

SS u are a shamless advertiser!!!!

Then it should have been stated in your previous post that that was what you were attempting to do. However, I am trying to get support behind this cause, not throw sales in the directions of people who decide to read the topic. Please refrain from advertising in this topic.

It's not really the dollar value difference seperating his prices from the RL prices, it's the percentage difference that's a problem. The Abrams price is 3 million off from what it should be around, but only 25% of a realistic price. At prices like that, he's taking a 60-70% loss on each sale realistically, but claims to be making a profit.

While, as previously said, we of TOR believe that a capitalist nation can set whatever prices they please, be it their loss or gain, we cannot endorse any nation or business that peddles in nuclear weapons for those ridiculously low prices. Naturally, we don't endorse anyone who peddles in nukes, but at the prices they have, every new country with a military budget as low as 900 million dollars could have a full nuclear armament, which could cause major international crisises, as well as start devastating wars.

We hereby boycott them until they remove the nuclear weapons from their list of goods.

He doesn't have to listen to us, really. We're just making a statement in saying that he is setting stupid prices and stupid items, and are thus refusing to do business with him. So long as we are not part of the problem, he can do as he pleases.

But the first idiot to buy ten thousand nukes for a couple billion, and turns them on the first nation he sees is going to get flattened very quickly.

For the 2nd time, he's selling brand new equipment. He's just selling it for used prices. And yet he claims to be making a profit on it, when he should be taking massive losses. Which is Godmodding. My problem isn't the prices in general, it's the fact he's claiming to be making a profit at that price.

Some notes:
-The Spruance costs about $600 million to build
-Seawolfs were originally expected to cost around $2 billion each, but many up-to-date sources are stating twice that. The Virginia, which is a cheaper alternative to the Seawolf, costs over $2 billion now (up from the $1.5 billion initially expected)
-The $28.1 million price for the F/A-18 was the initial production cost. The current cost would be about 2 times that. Currently, F/A-18E/F units are costing well over $60 million apiece.

I agree that his prices are absurd, but a boycott of his store is rather pointless, as it won't stop his primary customers: n00bs and newbies who don't know any better.

Well I did buy nuclear weapons but instead for his price I buy the nukes for 20 billion each. (so 40 billion) Would this still be classified as godmodding? But I do agree that he sells that stuff for a bit less/more.

Since he didn't state the delivery method of the "nuke", nor the yield of the "nuke", someone can safely assume that the nuke is just a 1 kiloton nuclear warhead on a SS-1B Scud  .

Or a 1 kiloton "nuke" in a B-29, for that matter.
