Construction of Northern Region Military Complex - Updated
ENIN:
The Senate of Majorities approved, in a 34-2 vote, to begin construction on a proposed Military Complex in the Northern Regional District of Eredron.
The 20 sq. mile complex will be able to house 250,000 troops, 10,000 armored vehicles, and hangars for 400 fighters and bombers; included in this complex is also an extensive factory, which is intended to produce an assortment of bombers and cargo planes, R & D facilities and test sites, and 14 helipads and 5 airfields.

In addition, nearly 500 companies have contracted to build four malls and various stores, to support the needs of the military personnel. Over five square miles of land has been sectioned off for schools, parks, and recreation areas.
The complex is expected to cost hundreds of billions of dollars, with funds coming from several unnamed sources; no time estimate has been given for how long construction will last, although it is expected to take several years.
Senators Kelly and Robbins, who cast the only dissenting votes, worried about the effect the cost of the project would have on the economy, as well as possibly creating a deficit.
ENIN:
Construction of the Northern Region Military Complex continues to progress at an astonishing rate, with nearly 40 contractors working on the base. Construction is coordinated by the Ministry of Defense, with Gen. Marcks(Ret.) personally supervising the progress.
The military factory, the government announced earlier today, is intended to primarily produce Tu-160 Blackjack Strategic Bombers, with a secondary production line planned for an as-of-yet unspecified fighter jet. Factory workers have already begun to arrive, as factory production is expected to begin soon(2 RL days). The first military personnel are scheduled to arrive sometime next month(1 RL day or so), along with an unspecified number of vehicles and aircraft.

Eredron is pleased to announce that the Northern Region Aircraft Factory's production rate has entered full swing, with the first Tu-160 Blackjack Strategic Bomber rolling out onto the airfield two hours ago; it's first test run finished successfully, and fully demonstrated the offensive capabilities of this formidable aircraft.

The bomber, with an operation range of 14,000 km and a flight speed of 2000 km/h, will provide the Eredron with the ability to strike at enemies across the globe, able to deliver it's payload - conventional and otherwise - from an altitude of 16000 meters

In a televised conference today, the Consul Supreme announced the completion of the Northern Region Military Complex, a sprawling compound that is to be the principal military base for Eredron ground forces, as well as home to the Eredron Military R & D Department, and production center for the improved Tu-160 Blackjack bombers.
Government officials have been reluctant to give an exact price tag on construction costs, nor have they commented on the purposes of many of the structures; likewise, rumors of an extensive missile program have not been commented on. All airspace within 20 miles of the complex has been classified as restricted.
Official figures state that of the base's expected military population, over 3/4 have already arrived, with personnel, equipment and vehicles arriving hourly.
Even as Eredronians listened to updates on the recently launched Mars-bound rockets, an enormous spending bill was quietly signed by Consul Hawkins, after being passed by the Senate Military Committee.
The bill includes spending to cover the costs of renovating the NRMC facilities, which includes updating the aircraft factories to build the newer Tu-170E Implacable Bombers, as well as renovating and expanding the barracks and personnel facilities. This is expected to increase the NRMC's personnel capacity to 450,000.
An additional four square miles has been added to the complex*, extending out to the coast where a second, heavily secure and classified major military port is to be constructed. The added grounds will house labs and buildings related to the secretive Department of Weapons Development, as well as storage facilities for Eredron's chemical and biological weapons programmes, and a research center for Eredron's nuclear weapons development.
Over thirty billion Eredronian Marks have been appropriated for the expansion.

The UIA notes this remarkable development in Eredron. At the moment, the UIA only knows what everyone else knows.
