Global News Network (GNN) News Flash, October 25th 1:10AM (PST)

United Rohan Battlegroup attacked by Jappanese forces, 250 miles off the coast of Japann.

Task force 12, part of an international peacekeeping force, was attacked this morning by what navy sources describe as "A aggressive and deliberate attack against peacefull United Rohan vessels". The task force consisting of 1 aircraft carrier, 3 ASW (Anti-submarine-warfare) frigates, 2 destroyers, and 1 supply ship, was assigned to the region after an ongoing standoff between the nations of Sino and Japann. Initial reports are uncertain but it appears that at least 40 Japannese aircraft were involved in the strike. The Aircraft Carrier URS Iron Fist was struck by 3 anti-shipping cruise missiles and is reportidly burning out of control. The supply ship URS Ajax was also struck by one missile, but damage control efforts have managed to put out the fires and save the ship. The escorting vessels reportidly shot down 5 attacking aircraft and several of the inbound cruise missiles using their area point defense systems.

Attack comes after a ongoing tense standoff between several asian bloc nations
After the Japannese announced that they would abandon the non-aggression clause in their constitution and increase military spending, the Sinoese government agressivley protested their decision. In the passing months the region has become ever more tense as Sinoese and Japannese ships square-off in a limited series of engagements.

Task force 12 was ordered to the region by the Rohanian president as part of an international effort being supported by the U.N. in hopes of preventing an all-out war from developing in the Asian Bloc.
45 minutes after the attack a terse statement from President James Richardson (of Rohan) was delivered to the nation and to the international community via satelite:

"Just a short time ago a United Rohan task force was attacked in International waters off the coast of Imperial Japann. I must stress the fact that at no time did our military vessels provoke the government of Japann, and they did not fire on any Japannese vessel or aircraft until it became apparent they were under attack. I must take this opportunity to warn the Japannese government that this attack shall not go unchallenged and we will respond with all necessary force to ensure the safety and rights of passage for our nations armed forces. Accordingly, I have placed our nations military at defcon 3, including our strategic nuclear forces. Additional ships are being dispached to the area to engage in rescue and recovery operations. I also ask help from our allies and the international community in offering any aid they can to our sailors. This act will not go unpunished."

The African Commonwealth condemns this violation of international law(there is to be no attack upon peacekeeping forces, expeditionary or otherwise), and formally asks wether United Rohan needs humanitarian or military aid.

IGNORED

No forces launched any attack on any foreign ships.

Well, since Japann says he didnt and I see no post to say he did, I would crush him like a bug with Fleet 4, but I really cant be buggered and feel like doing something else....

Rohan, you can't just say someone did something. It's alright to do that for small things which are unimportant, but not something on this magnitude.

OOC: I've carefully read the posted guidelines on role-playing in this community...and my post dosen't really violate anything posted there. Obviously I didn't create a situation that was totally unbelievable (IE Massive Japann nuclear attack against the world), but something that is much more plausable given the current state of affairs between your nation and sino. In other words: Think of a way out. Play along...it's fun. No one is going to call you Hitler or anything :P

IC:

We find the half-hearted denial on the part of Japann laughable. Task force 12 is equipped with long-range radar and reports from the acting task force commander (Admiral Conway was injured in the attack) Capt. Garcia indicate that the attacking aircraft returned on a course that would take them back to Japann, and NOT any other nation. Intercepted radio transmissions also indicate that the attack origionated from Japannese fighter-bomber aircraft. Either this is the worlds best conducted military fraud, or your nation conducted an unprovoked attack upon our battle group.

United Rohan gratefully accepts any and all aid given by the U.N. and International community at large. We also ask that additional forces be sent into the region to ensure the safety of our battle group and to assist with search and recovery.

A emergency meeting of the cabinet has been called to decide upon a response to this attack.

James Richardson
President, United Empire of Rohan.

Ahem. To quote:

Godmoding is:

Saying what happens to other people's stuff.

That includes saying what it's done, I'm afraid. Look, if you faked it, fine, but otherwise it's not ok.

OOC: Ok, did this really take place or did you just fake it?
25-10-2003, 12:29
ooc: Well if your asking if I contacted Japann and cleared this with him first...the answer of course is no. I didn't think it w
s 'godmodding' since an attack on my battle group isnt 'other peoples stuff' However, I always try to play by the rules and if I've done wrong I apoligize. I was only attempting to have a little fun and further develop a ongoing situation. If Japann wants to accept the event as "fact" that would be fine and we can continue developing the scenario ...or if not we can drop it with my apologies. Regardless in the future ill ok events like this with affected nations so there isnt any confusion.

An attack on your forces, in and of itself, is your call and is not godmodding. However, as soon as you say that a specific individual did it, you are dictating someone else's actions for them, and that is godmodding.

ooc: Ah understood. Forgive this newbies mistakes. I had thought I had enough of a 'feel' for the community here to try some role playing of my own...but I guess I should have lurked a little more:)

again, sorry for my mistake. But I would like to work out some military confrontation with Japann ;)

OOC: It's perfectly all right. We all make mistakes, and so long as we strive to correct and learn from them, there's no problem. It's only those who refuse to admit their mistakes that I have a problem with.

If you want to have a confrontation with Japann, the best way is to talk and set something up, probably via telegram.

OOC: Some people here uses this "claiming someone attacking you" method as "propganda" to try to make the international community hate your enemy. But if you RP for other people (At least, without permission), like CSJ said, it is godmoding.

You can claim it ICly through diplomacy, but not RPing it for Japann entirely. What you did in the first part was RPing for Japann.

But if you learn your mistake --- good. A learning newbie is a good newbie.
