United Rohan Battlegroup attacked by Jappanese forces, 250 miles off the coast of Japann.
Task force 12, part of an international peacekeeping force, was attacked this morning by what navy sources describe as "A aggressive and deliberate attack against peacefull United Rohan vessels". The task force consisting of 1 aircraft carrier, 3 ASW (Anti-submarine-warfare) frigates, 2 destroyers, and 1 supply ship, was assigned to the region after an ongoing standoff between the nations of Sino and Japann. Initial reports are uncertain but it appears that at least 40 Japannese aircraft were involved in the strike. The Aircraft Carrier URS Iron Fist was struck by 3 anti-shipping cruise missiles and is reportidly burning out of control. The supply ship URS Ajax was also struck by one missile, but damage control efforts have managed to put out the fires and save the ship. The escorting vessels reportidly shot down 5 attacking aircraft and several of the inbound cruise missiles using their area point defense systems.
Attack comes after a ongoing tense standoff between several asian bloc nations
After the Japannese announced that they would abandon the non-aggression clause in their constitution and increase military spending, the Sinoese government agressivley protested their decision. In the passing months the region has become ever more tense as Sinoese and Japannese ships square-off in a limited series of engagements.

Task force 12 was ordered to the region by the Rohanian president as part of an international effort being supported by the U.N. in hopes of preventing an all-out war from developing in the Asian Bloc.
45 minutes after the attack a terse statement from President James Richardson (of Rohan) was delivered to the nation and to the international community via satelite:
"Just a short time ago a United Rohan task force was attacked in International waters off the coast of Imperial Japann. I must stress the fact that at no time did our military vessels provoke the government of Japann, and they did not fire on any Japannese vessel or aircraft until it became apparent they were under attack. I must take this opportunity to warn the Japannese government that this attack shall not go unchallenged and we will respond with all necessary force to ensure the safety and rights of passage for our nations armed forces. Accordingly, I have placed our nations military at defcon 3, including our strategic nuclear forces. Additional ships are being dispached to the area to engage in rescue and recovery operations. I also ask help from our allies and the international community in offering any aid they can to our sailors. This act will not go unpunished."
