earth crossing asteroid

Kazquim scientists have just discovered an asteroid that is about 1000 ft wide. This asteroid's orbit crosses earths orbit and calculations say that it will hit Kazquim in 12 hours. An incoming object makes a crater 20 times the diameter of the object. This would me that there will be a crater that is 20,000 ft in diamter. This would be a terrible catastophe. 20,000ft is about 4 miles in diamter. This asteroid will kick up dust, rocks and other materials. Our nation will perish if this crisis is not prevented. Our country is very weak and can not afford to change it's course. We will need a nation of much more power to change the asteroid's course.

We can use one of our ships to obliterate the asteroid, but we will need to divert an Armada ship to do so, and that isn't cheap. Are you willing to pay for your salvation?

someone tried something like this before...i warn u that it didnt work, however. The thread jes died.

We can not destroy the asteroid we must deflect it from hitting the planet. Some hwo we must think of a way to do so. If we destroy it then it will cause a massive meteor shower heading towards more than half the planet! Urgency is advised.

You are correct, yet incorrect in your interpretation. If the asteroid is shattered, the individual pieces will burn up in the Earth's atmosphere. However, if you would rather deflect it anyway we can do that as well, but it will require two ships, and thus be twice as costly for the same essential end result.

well, im in a bit of a pickle. :?

Do you want our help or not? The clock is ticking.
Kazquim
25-10-2003, 04:36
Our nation will soon perish for I do not have the kind of money to destroy the asteroid. But, I could evacuate the nation but we do not have enough time there is roughly 11 hours and 45 mins left until impact.
Kazquim
25-10-2003, 04:38
How can we get 5 million people off land in 11 hours...seems impossible. I do not have enough money to supply you with. I am a small nation of mostly forests. We have a weak military and barely have a government. We have no procedure for something like this.
Xanthal
25-10-2003, 04:39
Indeed? Then I suppose we can do it for free this once. We will move one of our Dreadnaughts into position and destroy the asteroid in five hours.
25-10-2003, 04:39
well i gess your people will just have to say good bye and wait to die
Kazquim
25-10-2003, 04:41
Are you completely positive that the fragments will burn up in the earth's atmosphere? If you help us we may be able to pay you back as our economy grows higher. But, it may take awhile. thankyou and good luck on the mission. We are countin on you.

Of course we are positive. If we weren't we would not risk becoming the enemies of half the nations on Earth.

indeed.

The Xanthalian Dreadnaught XAS-89 moves in behind the giant asteroid and begins charging it's Plasma/Ion cannon.
25-10-2003, 04:56
Of course, one must remember that an asteroid of such size would have an effect on the entire planet, not just on this one nation. I am sure that many more than 5 million lives are being saved here...
25-10-2003, 04:57
well live on a planet far far away called dragonia (region)

ohh and why cant the nation die

XAS-89 finishes charging it's cannon and fires. The asteroid is blasted into tens of thousands of tiny pieces. The Xanthalian Dreadnaught moves to orbit Earth.

Ya know, you could have caused most of the debris to miss the planet entirly if you had fired from in front of the rock. As it stands, it'll be doing Not Good Things(tm) to anything in orbit on the wrong side of the planet.

It'll create a nice light show. Count your blessings. A few thunderstorms and minor atmospheric anomolies are way better than a hole in the planet.

Dear Sir,

our advanced Missile Technology allows us to exterminate this threat in the upper stratosphere. We simply blast the astroid into small peaces to ensure the mainly of water consisting object to melt or burn down in the athmosphere. The Astroid is already targeted and missiles are standing by. Please consider this problem as solved.
We welcome you to sign a bilateral free trade agreement with us and we also would wish to simplify visa applications between our countries.
Good Luck,
Hans :D

Nation of the Sun, asteroids are rocky, comets are ice. This is(or was) an asteroid.

Xanthal, objects is orbit are not protected by the atmosphere, and at the speeds involved, grains of dust are dangerous projectiles. Best case scenario, those fragments will be the size of gravel, and would imolate hundreds of modern and near-future satalites, stations, and spacecraft. A fleck of paint almost put a hole in the shuttles armoured window; imagine what a pebble with a few thousand times that fleck's mass would have done?

And besides, the asteroid was already blown up.

And besides, the asteroid was already blown up.

And turned into a mssive shotgun blast threatening anything modern or near-future tech in orbit, above the protection of the atmosphere.

Oh for crying out loud, you honestly care about the satellites? Well, we can't do everything for you. Figure out your own solution to this problem. We've protected Earth itself, that's good enough for us.

President jinzo is dead and there isn't a god damn guy who is cares. Jinzo was an amazing leader and did what was right. He was the best leader there ever was. This is vice president, Sengai. Thankyou to the countries who have helped but this is really the whole earth's problem not only our nation's. The important thing is we are all alive. pieces of metal miles above our heads can be replaced. thankyou

I'm just sayong you could have caused most of it to miss if you'd parked your ship infront of the asteroid, or sent another ship and towed it away.

Mind you, those Kanuckistani assets in danger have been shielded by parking Pat/Coms and Corvettes between them and the oncoming debris, and dew to the subjective nature of the local reality, most nations that would be otherwise effected won't be, because they'll never read this thread, so I supose the point, while valid, will probally net moot anyway. *shrugs*
