In the streets of Pycca a traveler could hear the people chanting, "Long live the Empire!", as they stampeded to the large palace in the center of the nation. Small as it was, it was free of the usual accompanying government corruption. The populace enjoyed extensive civil right and social equality. What more could a country ask for? The taxes were a bit higher than they had hoped, but none complained that much.
Even with the majority of her people loving her, the Empress could not help but find herself worrying about a threat. It wasn't really much of a problem. Not that much. But, she had upset the Queen of Yokiko in some way, although secretly she meant to. She saw the woman as an incompetent ruler, not worthy of her own country. The Queen had taken this rather personally (how else was she to take it?) and declared war.
There were a few other nations around the Empress' general area. She had already spoken to the President ofthe Community of Scienc and honestly, she wasn't sure what the boy's opinion on the whole issue was. He seemed to be... naive when it came to the topic of war. And she still had yet to reach the President of Igualdad De Derechos and the President of Kaialii, but she hoped to whatever deity there was to help her gain allies.
Suddenly a knock sounded at her door making her jump from her desk. "Um... Come in!" she called, unwrinkling the creases in her gown.
The door opened and a young gentleman came in dressed eloquently with his black hair combed back and a frown on his face, seemingly unhappy. "You... um, sent a telegram?" he inquired, fussing over his clothes.
She nodded. "Yes, President," she answered, walking towards him, carrying herself as if she had been an Empress all her life. "I ask you to help me defend my people against this mad woman," she growled, wrinkling her nose. "She threatens the lives and the freedom of my people. I won't stand for it."
The president pondered this for several long minutes. "So you're asking me for... troops, then?"
Nodding, she led him over to the side of the room where a map was provided. "President..." she sighed as she motioned to it. "The Queen Yokiko is holding chemical weapons beyond her borders. Or at least this is what I've heard." She shook her head pathetically. "Even if she doesn't, she's declared war and there is nothing else I can do. I have 20,000 men willing to fight. Only 20,000 out of who knows how many she has..."
"As you know I have an Arms Manufacturing industry," he commented, crossing his arms over his chest as he made a quick glance to the map. "I could send you a few troops. My country may as well be in as much danger as yours as it sits right beside Yokiko's Queendom," he commented, shaking his head. "I can send... 60,000 men. Perhaps more, but that is about the amount in my army now."
The Empress smiled. "That would be much appreciated."
"I'll have to speak with Congress first and have a voting session," he informed her. "I'll have an answer for you by Tuesday. Is that beneficial?"
"Indeed," the Empress responded, leading him to the door. "I must announce the news to my people. We have a room set up for you down the hall if you would like to stay a night so that we may discuss these matters again tomorrow. Ilya! Take the President of Kaialii to his room, please."
A tall, lanky character sauntered down the hallway, leading the hesitant President to his own room.
"Hm, perhaps this won't be as difficult as I thought it would," the Empress muttered under her breath, closing the door to her office as she disappeared into it once again.
