OOC: Sorry, clearly you haven't be around long enough to know about Lima beens. The minute he thinks he can have 4000 Planes, hes going to get them. He just won't listen to common sence! Also, using 50% of your budget on defence isn't very smart, I would expect many coups against your government with that kind of spending.

I put his military budget at 17% which is about what the US uses. It uses like 7-11% of it's GDP, but 17% or so for its budget which is still kind of high. Anyhow, that should do nicely.

GDP is the total amount of revenue that your country brings in. Taxes, Tariffs, confiscated property, spoils of war, payoffs from other countries, etc.

Budget is the amoung of money that your government uses to fund things such as highways, subsidize businesses, fund colleges, etc.

Military Budget is the amount of money that your country spends on defense. IE. buying weapons of war and training people, upkeep of military forces and paying your troops, providing health care, etc. Your military budget is included in your national budget.
23-10-2003, 21:50
OOC: You are a n00b. consider that. and so are we.

IC: GDP: the total of everything your country makes in a year.
National Budget: is what your government can spend on things like welfare, education, roads, military, etc.
Mil Bud: The amount you decide to spend on the military.

So for higher the Defence budget percentage, the lower in good living for your people. If 50% of your budget is spent on defence, that means you only have the other 50% for Hospitals, Schools, Roads, government services, and just about everything else.

Correct. If your GDP is 100 million and you spend 50 million on your military, then your people get 50 million for government sponsored roads, schools, healthcare, welfare...take into account that the budget also pays the people who work for the government... your leader, his advisors, post office peeps, and other federal employees.

Some people have their defence budget as low as 3%, however that doesn't allow for alot of spending. I keep mine at 15%, but I have stockpiled massive amounts of money for when I need it. With a surplus of roughly 1 Trillian each NS year, Im in the clear.

Depends on what you RP as an NS year. I happen to go with 1rl Day= 1NS month. That way I am not getting an obscene amount of money every day, but every twelve. It also lets me kind of put time limits when RPing. Every 6 hours = 1 week. We don't work sundays, so every hour = 1 day.

Some people go by 1week= 1 yr, some 1day = 1 yr. it all depends on you, but when it comes down to RPing, usually the timeline is set by the RP being played out.

Bear with me, for one more question! ^_^ Okay, if it says that I can afford the things above (well, one thing from the list above) with my military budget, can I just say that my country buys those for that NS year? Or, are those just examples, and I actually have to buy them from a storefront thread? Or, alternately, do I have to open a thread saying I purchased them?

Okay, maybe an example would help. Let's say I go with the 1 RL day = 1 NS month thing. After twelve days, can I just say I bought, say, 363 MiG 29s, or do I have to make an RP thread saying "This year, my military purchased such and such and such"? Do you get what I'm saying? ^^;;
