EA-60 Carrier Aircraft (AWAC, ASW, ASuW, EW COD etc)

The Elias Aerospace Coporation (70%), Freedom Country(10%) and Crookfur(20%) are proud to finally unveil EA-60 Carrier Support Aircraft. It was designed as a cure-all airframe that would perform the roles of airborne early warning, anti-submarine operations, electronic warfare as well as being easily convertible to a carrier based refuelling tanker. The aircraft uses many innovative design features such as having no horizontal stabiliser and instead using variable pitch canards to better control landing speeds and improve safety when landing on aircraft carriers.

Design

The EA-60’s airframe uses aluminium-lithium composites to maximise thrust to weight ratio and with variable pitch canards replacing the horizontal stabilisers it offers unequalled controllability and efficiency, crucial for carrier landings. For stowage aboard carriers the aircraft’s wings sweep back flush with the fuselage. Titanium, shock absorbing landing gear and arresting gear produced by Freedom Country limits airframe fatigue during the stressful operations of carrier takeoffs and landings. The design of the aircraft is designed to be relatively low-observable and incorporates RAM coatings and Stealth features to minimise RCS. The flight controls and cockpit developed by Crookfur are highly advanced and allow for a flight crew of only two and unparalleled levels of control and safety. The aircraft is powered by a pair of High Bypass turbofans produced by Elias Precision Engineering and they have proven in tests to be ultra reliable in nearly all enviromental conditions and in conjuction with integrated fuel control systems offer very good fuel economy and performance.

Specifications (All Versions)

Powerplants: 2x EPE-136M High bypass turbofans producing 15,990lb of thrust each.

Internal Weapons bay for up to four torpedoes/mines/depth bombs.

Two wing hardpoints for Torpedoes/External fuel tanks or Harpoon/Yakhont/SLAM/Meverick or similar ASMs.

Two wing hardpoints for AIM-9X/ASRAAM/AA-12/similar short range air to air missiles.

Alternatively can be configured as tanker with two wing mounted buddy pods and extra fuel tank in internal weapons bay.

-Systems:

ERS/EM-1134 Sonarbuoy dispenser: internally stores up to 36 sonarbouys/marine markers/noise makers, uses cartridge actuating devices to dispense.

MK2010 Radar (Crookfur): optimised for naval surveillance operations, the MK2010 can detect periscope sized targets at over 200km (and ship size targets at over 500km).

MK8003 MAD (Crookfur)

MK9505 Sonarbuoy handling system (Crookfur): Combines receiver, data interpretation with 128 channel processing and data transmission and display for over 100 sonarbouys.

Alternatively can be configured as tanker with two wing mounted buddy pods and extra fuel tank in internal weapons bay.

-Systems:

MK10015 (Crookfur): targetable jamming system with emissions processing and interpretation system. Can provide broad band jamming over a wide range or localised effects against specific targets and also has Electronic Intelligence capability

ERSS-180R Automatic Elint Emitter Locater System (AEELS): intercepts electronic and signals transmissions and automatically sifts the data for useful information. Includes an integrated direction finding system to track the position of radar sites and communication centres.

Well done UE, nice job in the sales dept.

Thanks, want to provide the countermeasures ofr my larger specific Carrier Onbaord Delivry Aircraft im basing it on the An-72 (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/row/an-72.htm) Basically id just copy and paste the countermeasuresd option from here and give you 5 percent. landing gear as well.
23-10-2003, 17:46
The AN-72 has a nice design, but is underpowered and not much of a good 'transport'

UE: i hate to hijack the topic (great job btw) but i am very intersted in soemthing based on the AN-72 (to me it looks a rather cool plane) so put me for a goodly number (or the ECM if FC doesn't want in  ).

Anyway this is a really top aircraft and has already seen combat use in the FPC conflict (was used to monitor the blockade and after coming udner SAM fire was instrucmental in giuding some fighter to blow up the enemy ship).
24-10-2003, 20:38
I am putting it into use currently against the rebel SAM sites soon, and it will be a main part of my navy, almost ireplaceable.

I would like in on the AN-72 proto too, btw.

"Any chance of production rights?

I ask this because planes in Freethinker service require specialist electronics, ones Im not desperate to give to other countries in order to have them installed. Although I could theoretically backfit the planes, it would be cheaper and far more convenient for us to build them ourselves.

Waiting eagerly for your reply"

We would not be particulaly eager to sell production rights however we can negotiate so that electronics you intend to replace are simply not installed and we sell the aircraft at a purchase lower price as a result. I presume we are talking about communications systems?

"Basically the entire electronics fit. We do have a budget to work to, but if production rights are not attainable then we will take 400 airframes at a reasonable price."

Okay here's a deal, ion your website you describe the EH101 Merlin as the helicopter of choice if you were to say switch it for the EA-24 (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40824) then we would give you the production rights for the EA-24 and teh EA-60 free of charge. Fair?

BTW what program do you use for drawing out your ships, they're rather good?

OOC: MSPaint. Because it is so simple, it is actually better for lineart than more complicated programs. It'll take me a few days to sort out the change in stats etc, namely bacause I have my Uni exams for the next two days. :S
