BREAKING NEWS: Oil spill occurs off coast

Big Long Now

About an hour and a half ago the oil tanker Savorite struck a large tugboat from the BLNND (Big Long Now Naval Division) after returning from towing an aircraft carrier into safe water. Emergency Response Crews arrived on the scene about thirty minutes after the accident occured. The tugboat is a complete loss and the tanker's captain managed to take the ship a mile out to sea (former position was estimated as a half mile off the coast of Folant Beach) before the ship went down.

Environmental crews estimate that 95,000 gallons have spilled out of the 4,000,000 gallon oil storage tank. After sending a robotic camera down to the crash site fifteen minutes ago, they determined that the hole the tugboat created is about 13 feet wide and 9 feet in height.

Crews are currently working to fend off the oil approaching the shores of Folant Beach and other various areas known to a rich population of various wildlife. An investigation is currently underway to determine the full cause of this tragedy.

The Rogue Nation of Big Long Now asks for the assistance of the nations of NationStates to help begin sealing the breach in the tankers hull, and cleaning up the oil that has escaped.
