We use electroinc VR simulators. I guess scenarios would be a good vote for me.

We use live fire excersizes. It IS real and if someone is hit they know how it feels to be shot and if someone dies, the squad must realize that they have to continue and not give up on the mission. :P

We have them do scenario games with guns that can shoot paintballs, blanks and live ammo! HAH!
Nah, only scenario games with toy guns.

we are borg. As such we have a database of all assimilated combat techniques, and the appropriate techniques are written directly to a drones muscle memory. Anythig else would be inefficient.

Our troops are trained with blanks and scenario games (called exercises). However, artillery and bombers may have to use live ammunition. Such systems are based on the following: http://www.oscmar.com/

I put them to woods with just a rifle and two clips of ammo. Then they are to live off nature for a month with those supplies.

Real ammo and life-like battle scenarios, they do wonders. Because of these training methods, we stopped a rebel uprising in our country in less that 65 days.

Dose any one have any good suggestions on how to train a Special Forces team?

I use blanks or live fire, depending if they'r volunteers or draftees
draftees-live fire, gets them used to it quickly
volunteers-blanks, they have time to get used to it

We use blanks every now and then when we want are troops to get use to fighting in different weathers. But we mainly use scenario games to train are troops.

Troops are given basic training for fitness etc, and live fire exercises until reasonable groups at 200 yds can be obtained with their M16A2s. If a trooper wishes to continue with a career in the military, they have to evade capture and survive for 3 weeks in th jungle, Imperial Unions great planes and also in ice conditions. Following this they are put through interrogation for 48 hours. Those who do not live up to these standards are put through their training until they can do it. This selection and training takes a year, but we have a 90 percent success rate.

Since our military is entirely sauce based we have very few casualties during training. So long as we don't use the explosive or toxic sorts that is.

We put a six pack of beer in the middle of a room and throw a dozen mulleteers in there. The last one standing gets the beer and he is the most elite in our army. Here is our most elite winner from this mornings contest.

Oh and we use live fire for everything! Not only ground training with guns, artillery and tank battles. But we use live missles for dogfighting and live shells for naval training. :)

Without revealing classified information, the Lyongate army trains with light weapons, including automatic weapons, in a variety of combat situations.

The Elite, the Lyongate special forces unit, trains without firearms for the first portion of their training. They must learn to subdue and / or kill an opponent with whatever is at hand.

After this training phase, a candidate for the Elite is put through simulated fire exercises, in which he and his targets are carrying paint caps. Paint caps are more effective than paintballs, and though casualties are rare, they can and do happen.

Next comes the phase dealing with demolitions. Each candidate is taught how to assemble and, more importantly, defuse a bomb. This is where the higest turnover rating occurs. It takes a steady hand and cool will to pass this portion.

This final training certifies a candidate for the Elite. He is then dropped into "hostile territory" (Territory held and patrolled by three seperate Elite teams) with a buck knife and the clothes on his back. Should he return to base, he is welcomed in as one of the Elite and given to a team.

The Air Force trains using dummy weapons for the majority of their live training, while pilots undergo rigourous VR simulations before being allowed to touch their bird.

I still think a six pack of beer in an empty room is the best method. You may want to get your troops some cold ones.

Our army is a permanent job, and when someone joins, they are expected to serve until they are of retirement age or are injured badly. That being said it should be mentioned that our army and our police force are one in the same, and are trained in both. We do not use the standard military doctrine of breaking down recruits to change them into fighters, instead we slowly adjust them to the harsh concepts of the job. Our soldiers are much more healthy mentally than most other countries.

As for physical training, any and all exercises are performed wearing weighted versions of our standard combat suits. The suits are unpowered, and provide a good deal of resistance to newbies, but once they adjust, moving around is easy, and moving in the unweighted versions is absolutely unchallenging to trained soldiers.

Combat training includes the standard marksmanship, weapon familiarity, and close combat courses. Because our army is also our police force however, they are taught fully in how to perform arrests and how to gauge criminal situations. Several side courses exist for teaching advanced urban fighting manuevers, and everyone is allowed to volunteer for sniper rifle training.

Combat drills are performed with gelcap ammunition using full explosive loads. Basically, its garunteed not to break skin, let alone combat armor, but you will go reeling to the floor from stopping power.

When the time comes to perform, our soldiers are always prepared, and as an added bonus, can act as an efficient police force to occupied countries.
