Okay, this thread is to either debate or comment on the structuring of naval carrier battle groups. I'm going to post my current structuring below and feel free to comment on it (constructive criticism is of course preferred). Other countries can also post theirs and perhaps learn from one another's group makeup.

I prefer a large number of ships (obviously), but please feel free to point out areas I am lacking in.

My normal carrier battle group layout looks like this:

1 Large/Medium Carrier (CVN)
2-3 Guided Missile Cruiser (Anti-air/Ground bombardment role)
2-3 ASW Frigates
3-5 Multirole Destroyers (ASW, anti-ship, anti-air)
3-5 Guided Missile Destroyers (anti-ship, bombardment)
1-2 Nuclear Attack Submarines (anti-ship, bombardment)

Sometimes I also plug in a battle cruiser, Arsenal ship, or/and a guided missile sub (SSGN). Rarely I plug in Corvettes, but sometimes I do in defence roles.

For battleships, I put them into a bombardment group:

1 Battleship
2-4 Battlecruisers
2-3 GM Cruisers
1-2 Arsenal Ships
1-2 GM Submarines

Again, I rarely use corvettes in these.

As for an amphibious assualt group, I often plug in 2-3 LHA and LHDs, some Docking ships, and an Amphibious command ship.

For naval airwings, this is just an example of mine:

1 carrier with a compliment of 60 fixed, rotary winged aircraft
and thats about it!

all I could really afford! plus a lot of debt!

The Dominion of Talkos uses it's Carrier groups primarily for power projection, and as such typically does not include large troop ships.

No, and I don't intend to have a lot of fighter there.

The carrier isn't a supercarrier. It can only hold 50 aircraft.

I tend to use light carriers mostly in small tasks.

we don't really have a way of organizing ships - we just kinda assemble them depending on how they're going to be used.

I've put them into fleets and current we have three fleets, the Fleet of the East, the Fleet of the West and the Imperial Fleet. In total they come up to around 1,700 ships, including 31 battleships (both Marx and Iowa class and 1 Imperator Class [flagship]), and 41 cruisers.

<whistles> Whew, 31 BBs, we don't even have half that many carriers.

I only have around 8 carriers. Also, the Royal Navy had 34 battleships present at the Battle of the Jutland while the Germans brough in about 20.
