Mr. Walter Avery sat impatiently in his new Lexus, waiting for any movement in front of him. He was on his way to work in Washingpound, the capital, and heretofore had never been late. But this traffic jam might change that perfect record How will this look on my record? he asked himself. What's the matter here? How can these idiots take so much time to move ten miles?
"Hey, let's move!" Mr. Avery yelled out the car window. He pulled his head back in, closed his eyes, and slumped down in his seat. His fingers fumbled around in the glove compartment for the aspirin. As he struggled to pull off the childproof cap, he heard a slight whistling noise. Curious, he looked into the rearview mirror as the whistling grew steadily louder.

The first 105mm artillery shell hit with enough force to slice through two layers of the three-level highway bridge. As it impacted on the third level, it detonated, tossing dozens of cars into the air and sending a shockwave back through the concrete. The bridge began to buckle, and shortly after gave way when the other seven shells impacted.

This scene was repeated several times throughout the city. One round skewered a semi downtown that just happened to be carrying petroleum to a gas station. The fireball caused almost as much damage as the shell itself.
Another round hit a corporate office building, causing it to topple over onto another, and destroying both structures.
Although nearly all of downtown Washingpound was leveled, the major government buildings were relatively unharmed, and all Senate and Cabinet members escaped without injury.

-The official report on the damage is pending, but the casualty estimate is around 1.5 million.

The Macabees is apalled by such an attack and willing to send troops in your defense. We are also ready to send medical teams, medical equipment, food and water to care for the wounded.

Immediately after news of the attack reached Josephland's government, Council members went into a closed-door conference to discuss this attack on its protectorate.
While in session, the Council received information from an intelligence agent stating that the attack may have in fact been carried out by Americad forces. They are now debating their next plan of action.

The Americad preliminary report confirms suspicions. A full 1/3 of the Americad military is AWOL, and with them a third of Americad's weapons. It is believed that the attackers bombarded the capital with military-grade artillery.

So far, it is estimated that 85% of Washingpound was destroyed, and damage is well over 100 million dollars.

Casualties so far number 9000 dead and 12,500 wounded.

"Alright we got a full blast war going on here and the Emperor has ordered us to tidy up the situation before that entire nation goes to hell," blasted the sergeant as his platoon entered the chopper.

Next to him another 75 black hawks were being loaded by other platoons and behind those 200,000 men awaited their turn.

The entire Socialist People's Army, created by the Duma last year to supplement the already large Macabean military, was going to war for their first time.

About 700 yards off the low rumbles of C-130's loaded with 155mm artillery and the 1st Airborne Division (10,000 men) were taking off ready to paradrop inside Americad's borders.

There was no warning, the Macabean were peacekeeping and they weren't going to waste time on stupid bearucracies.

It is with great sadness that we have looked upon the recent events in Americad. The Dominion of Kotterdam deplores such unlawful acts of mutiny by those who have sworn to protect the people of the very nation they currently attack. I would like to offer the services of the Dominion Armed Forces to the Borderlands of Americad so that by working together we may bring these despicable mutineers to heel.

The DKS Bulwark and the DKS Stalwart, as well as their battlegroups have been dispatched to the area. The DKS Dominion and her group were already in the area, and have been ordered to support operations by Americad and The Macabees to restore order. Once an airstrip is secured, we can begin airlifting further forces into the theater.

Attention all nations participating in peacekeeping: please inform us through official channels in order to send in troops. Also, be warned: casualties are expected to be high. We are against one-third of Americad's military, who are armed with the latest weapons.

The Kaiser sat quietly in his office, with the fulfilling knowledge that his actions could not be discovered.

It had been difficult to arrange the meetings with all the Americad officers, but in the end it was more than worthwhile. I mean, who would have guessed that 1/3 of a nations army would be willing to go AWOL for just a few million dollars, a few...well quite a lot of... weapons, and a promise for immediate recognition if they won.

Its not like Americad had ever hurt Tremalkier, but they sure wouldn't know.

"Sir, just as you expected the international community is smashing the rebels. It is only a matter of time before they find all our false weaponry. Truly, a brilliant move sire, giving the rebels thousand of armaments, and ammunition from an enemy country. They will grow intensely pissed with them, and we will be able to jump in, save the day, and reap the benefits."

"Yes, well, we will see. What exactly did we mark them with?"

"Oh the usual Soviet trappings. They will blame some commie or another, and as extreme right wingers, it would only be natural for us to jump in. Standard Operating Procedure sir."

A day of mourning has been approved by the Senate, on behalf of those killed during the recent attacks in Americad. Appearing in a brief news conference before leaving for his scheduled Regional Conference of Deseret, the Consul threw the gauntlet down at the feet of the world's superpowers.

"Today's attacks against the people and government of Americad are not an isolated event, but part of an ongoing campaign of terrorism and warfare, brought upon us by the anarchists and terrorists of the world. The recent surge in rebellions and uprisings has become a dangerous trend that threatens to topple the governments of the world.

It is the duty and responsibility of the world's great powers to stop this wave of terror and anarchy before another nation is engulfed."

With nearly 2,000 troops already on standby for peace-keeping operations in Warziristan and elsewhere, the Senate of the Holy Republic of Eredron has pledged 300,000 Marks to help rebuild those countries who have suffered from civil uprising.

The Cabinet sat in an emergency session as they debated how to begin organizing troops to quell what seemed to be a rebellion. Suddenly, the intercom buzzed and came on; a voice resounded throughout the chamber:

"Honorable Cabinet members of Americad: I am General Thomas Harvey. I am responsible for the recent attack on the capital. Although I did not wish to have to attack our people, it was a necessity to gain your attention. The government of Josephland has corrupted our noble nation. When they acquired Americad, the oppressive government crushed our rights and raped our lands. They have blinded you to the fact that Americadians are poor and unhappy by giving you wealth that rightly belongs to the people. I have fortunately realized this, and I have recruited all our soldiers that still believe in our right to freedom. I urge you to rise up against the Josephland Empire and throw off the yoke of oppression. I will not cease to fight until we gain our independence or until the last man loyal to our cause is dead.
"I also call on all foreign nations to condemn Josephland's oppression, and to support us in our effort."

The intercom went silent.
