Red Rook Down (Open RP)

18-10-2003, 22:34
***Iowa No Fly Zone***
Northen Freedom Country

A lone Su-37 flies fast and low over a forested area. The soundboom flattens several trees. It pulls up, and dives back down again, rolls over, then returns to a high position.

http://www.univer.omsk.su/students/bukavnev/su37_1.jpg

"Red Rook 5, go to check point Bravo Sierra and give the boys upstairs a sitrep." Screeches the radio in the pilot of the planes ear, as it coasts at Mach 1 over dense woodland.

"Ahh!!!" Yells the pilot, before reaching to his helmet and turning the headphones volume down. "Roger, this is Red Rook 5, inbound on Checkpoint Bravo Sierra for a brief sitrep. And have a beer waiting for when I get back."

"Very funny Red Rook. You'll have to bribe us into that one. We better get a decent Sitrep."

"Hardly likely, when I have a lump of a co-pilot." Laugh's the pilot, before getting a yell of complaint from the co-pilot in the back seat.

"Hey, I wasn't the one who almost bonded a Jet Plane with the side of a mountain."

"That was down to your lowsy navigating!!"

"Well if you weren't listening to Metallica we wouldn't have had that problem!!"

"I was bored due to your lack of speech!!"

*Argument goes on for several minutes, with no side giving*

"Hey guys, shut up and give me that Sitrep." Yells HQ amidst the argument.

"Roger HQ, just sorting a ....... disagreement."

*Su-37 adjustes flight path and flies down a small rolling alley*

"This is Red Rook 5. Rolling ground scanner and camera."

*Small hatch in side opens, followed by a blinking light*

"Nothing that we can see right now. Making another pass" comments the pilot.

*Plane banks hard, using its thrust vesctoring to point it back the way*

"Wait, I got something......" studies the Co-Pilot.

*On ground*

The commander of a small mobile SAM sat on the side of its shell, looking at a small mobile display. Suddenly, a fast moving dot appears. He glances up, before hearing the rolling thunder of a jet engine. He leaps up, and kicks several of the men on the ground beside him.

"GET UP YOU LAZY BASTARDS!!!"

The commander drops the display, and hops on th front of the SAM, lowering himself into the cockpit. He turns on the onboard computer, and grabs a jockstick. He sticks his head out the cockpit.

"COME ON, HE'LL GET AWAY!!!"

The pilon on top, with several tubes underneath it swivels round. One tubes end flips down. "FIRE!!!" Yells the commander.

A single missile screeches out, and reaches upwards.

*The Su-37*

DEEEDLEEEEDLEEEDLEEEEEE!!!!!!

"SHIT, WHAT IS IT!!!???"

"Don't worry, its not a mountain, its a......"

BEEEPDEEEDLEDEEDLEBEEP!!!!

"FUCK IT, SAM!!!! COMING IN, 7 O'CLOCK, LOW!!!"

"SCOOP IT!!!! COMING UP TOP, AND....."

The Su-37 screeches upwards in afterburner, the SAM closing. It then dives and turns, and the missile flips down after it.

"GOING LOW!!! KEEP AND EYE OUT FOR MOUNTAINS, AND LET ME KNOW WHERE THE FUCK IT IS!!!"

"SAM CLOSING!!! 500 METRES, 5 O'CLOCK!!!"

The plane flies low over a forest, shaking the trees. The missile screeches low behind it. The plane then screeeches up and over, the missile trying to follow. The missile breaks lock, and goes straight upwards.

*On the ground, at the SAM*

"Damn pilot, got away from it!!!"

"Sir, plane tracking our position on radar!!!"

"FIRE!!!"

Another Missile tears from the launcher, going head on to the Su-37

*Su-37*

"Where's the launcher!!! WHERES THE LAUNCHER!!!???"

"Dead ahead, 2 Miles, in a bunch of tr...... SECOND MISSILE, 12 O'CLOCK!! PULL UP!!!!"

"Arghhhh!!!!"

The plane pulls up sluggishly, as the missile nears.

"LOOK OU....."

The SAM tears right through the wing, exploding. The rear of the plane disintergrates, and the left wing falls away.

"DAMN, HIT!!! EJECTING!!!!"

The cockpit roof flies off, and one figure ejects.

"HQ, HQ, Red Rook going down, ejecti...."

BAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG!!!!!

The rest of the plane explodes in a shower of shrapnel, and the figure inside is toasted. The other figure opens a parachute, and decends into the trees.

Sarcasm? Black Hawk Down.

Anyway, no one in thier right minds is stupid enough to oppose Freedom Country, at least not me. Even if they aren't in thier right minds, I can guess that most of them would be godmodders and thus not good for roleplay. Rebellion perhaps? No, there's no reason to. Hmm...

No.....it's about this American pilot chap in Bosnia, and his plane gets shot down, and he has to make it to his friends, with this chap following him all the way. I can't remember what it's called.....

DAMN

You guys figured out....

My two favourite films, BHD and BHL.

They are rebels in my country (have had them for what, several RL months, ie hundreds of years) and recently they have got more....violent.

I was looking for someone to be the rebels.

***Along the Five Civilized Nations' border with Freedom Country***

A trio of F-35C Joint Strike Fighters flew through the sky, patrolling the border and enforcing a strict no-fly zone near the border.

This is Jolly Roger to base, we have spotted no intruders, over...

This is base, we copy that, keep us posted...

The three fighters accelerated to Mach 2 and rose to an altitude of 20,000 feet. Suddenly the countermeasures of trio of fighters go off.

Shit... We got several missiles incoming... This is Jolly Roger to base, we are being fired on by Freedom Country SAM sites, over...

This is base, we copy... You are cleared for return fire, over...

Roger that...

As the leader spoke with the base, one of his wingmen was blown out of the sky as a missile impacted with his wing. The leader swearing with his remaining wingman performed high-G U-turns and moved to attack the SAM site that had fired.

The leader and the wingman both fire a Phalanx missile at the SAM site. Both fighters then peel off and returned to base...

***In the Citadel***

"We've been attacked by Freedom Country?"

"Yes, your Highness..."

"Order full mobilization along the border... I want troops to move into FC if they don't respond to our demands..."

"Yes, your Highness..."

***Communique to the President of FC***

Freedom Country must apologize for this incident and compensate the family of the pilot that was killed... In addition, Freedom Country must remove all SAM site batteries away from our mutually shared border...

yeah the Book of HFRO is far better but then all the TC books are better than the films (essepcially Clear and Present danger: Where was my Super stallion with triple minigun action? why did they have to make Ding a sniper? etc etc etc).

In order to assist our allies our nation is willing to send a contigent of aircraft that specialise in operations against surface to air missile sites.

1 Squadron of 16 EF-111 Electronic Warfare aircraft, the Squadron known as the SAM Stalkers are some of the most experienced in the world at SEAD missions.

http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/ef-111-00000004.jpg

Also a single RC-135 Rivet Joint will be used to idnetify and locate the sites so the Ardvarks can be vectored to their targets.

***Secure E-Mail to 5SN***

We assure you WE DID NOT fire any SAM Guided Missiles at your country. It was rebels stationed on the border. Our nearest SAM site is 200 miles from the border, not near hitting distance. We have a few bunkers along your border, but not in any offensive positions. Indeed, they are mostly unmanned.

We wish to apologise for the loss of life in the region, and hopw we can help. In fact, we will give you a single F-37 (FSW equivelant of the F-35, with upgraded avionics and Thrust Vectoring) for free. It is beng transported now.

We dont even have any SAM's to that description: Our longest range SAM is 70km range. We also confirm the destruction and killing of the rebels manning the SAM: Marines took the site late last night. We thank you for ridding the world of this menace.

***FC's legendary HQ***

"DAMN THOSE BASTARDS!!! BLOODY REBELS!!! Shotting down planes as they see fit, they arent even ours!!!!!"

"Sir, recon suggests large forces lines on our border. The are SN troops."

"Damn. Call back attacking force in Terepa. Send 1st Division and all our air assets. Lucky for us all our troops are called back at this moment."

OOC:

I want to first detail some points to you:

A) It was the rebels, they have active SAM's lining all our borders.

B) Our longest range SAM is 250km, we were lying. We even sell them.

C) I recently called ALL military forces back to FC. They number 1.5 Mil+

D) I am a VERY mountainous country, and your border is the most hilly of the lot. A force hald the size could hold back an attacking force.

E) The rebels would be ON OUR SIDE in any war. They want a united Freedom Country, and FC to survive. They operate in the mountains, with artillery everywhere. Thats why I have no SAM's near your border.

F) Our Marines operate secretly at all borders, in trenches etc.

Good luck with this RP. I think that first bit was VERY nice, and beievable.

I just finished HMS Unseen today!!!!

Dont like the ending though.

Seawolf is good, my first of his novels.

I am going to read Kilo Class and Nimitz soon, although I know what happens.

The UK front covers are better. One is of HMS Unseen firing a missile, the Seawolf is of the ships coming towards you in the bay.

Yeah I know half of my books are UK versions, anyway you should read Nimitz first then Kilo then Unseen, then Seawolf then Shark Mutiny then Barracuda 945 (which in my opinion is the best).
23-10-2003, 17:48
I have heard of all apart from Barracuda.

I have read 'em:

Seawolf
Shark Mutiny
HMS Unseen

Future:

Kilo
Nimitz
Barracuda (never heard of it)

To back its alliance with Freedom Country the United States is prepared to send in troops if an invasion by 5 Civilised Nations materialises.

Secret IC to Freedom Country:

We can send in deniable Special Ops teams to help you root out rebels if you request our help.

President Anderson.
23-10-2003, 18:01
The rebels are impossible to root out, they keep popping up, in the mountains. Marines are popping more every day.

We believe you elimnated the SAM, isn that enough?

We give you permission to as long as:

A) You ask permission from FC HQ before any engagements are made.

B) Identify the unit, we have many, many friendlies moving in.

C) Only patrol within your border, launching from there.

Any troops you wish to send may be sent.

*FCAF Ceres*

It was mid afternoon, and everything was normal. A helicopter had had its landing gear shot off by and RPG, so it was being repaired. Fighters buzzed overhead, one returning smoking after being shot to pieces by a Vulcan cannon.

A single MA-14 rolled onto the runway with several MAM-72 HARM missiles under her wings. She also carried 2 AA-3's, 200km range air to air missiles.

It rolled down the runway, befre stopping in her holding position. On the far side of the runway, several figures ran out of cover towards the fighter. One held a ladder, the other 2 SMG's. Few people saw them, not even the pilot. Those that did see stood in awe.

The first the pilot knew was when the ladder hit the side of the fighter. He looked at the figures in awe, not talking. The first figure up the ladder pulled the 'rescue' cord on the side, opening the the cockpit. The Pilot reached for his 9mm, before getting hit by a round to the heart from the first mans pistol.

The mand lifted the pilots body out the cockpit, and threw it back. Several FC soldiers ran out, holding AR's. The other two figures fired on them with their guns, downing them. The first man (an ex-FC pilot) climbed into the cockpit, wearing th epilots helmet. A man was creaming down the helmet. He turned his radio off.

He pushed away the ladder, and closed the cockpits roof. He engaged afterburners, and burned off into the sky. He then flew low, before anybody had manned an AA gun or a SAM against him. The other two figures saluted, before running back into cover, firing while running.

The MA-14 burned off low towards 5SN's border.

OOC: I plan to have this guy (a rebel) shoot down several of your planes with his missiles, before firing on a Rebel SAM site. This will make him look like an FC plane, stirring up trouble. I need to know of your air activity, however.
