Reformed Alcardia, 10-16 -- In a sudden change of events which has shocked the Reformed Alcardian States region, voting for the next regional delegate, a three-way race between Reformed Alcardia, Kelanthia, and Tisonica, has been delayed indefinitely.

The voting, which was slated to take place on October 15, 1490, was cancelled after President Nicholas Everdale of Alcardia caught sharp criticism for deleting the election poll. His reasoning was that the poll was flawed in that it allowed non-U.N. member nations to endorse a candidate, in violation of international rules.

The host of the political election, Michael Bakshi of the Bakshiveck Union, did not place any blame on President Everdale for his quick measures. However, Bakshi did not ignore the fact that this highlighted a much more important problem.

"Right now we have the problem of representation," President Reiko Hidama of non-U.N. nation The Federation of Eternal Flame, said at a press conference. "If the nations of the RAS who are not in the U.N. are not allowed to vote, we should not have to follow the demands of the U.N. Regional Delegate!"

Reformed Alcardia, the incumbent Regional Delegate nation, allowed its U.N. Representative Victor Baron to strike back with his own press conference. "A United Nations delegate nation is also a regional delegate nation! You are preaching secession because you do not want to join the United Nations and be bound by their obligations! "

In an 11th hour attempt to iron out criticism of the voting process, Baron pushed a 3/5ths Compromise before the Alcardian Congress ten minutes before closing, pushing back adjournment by several hours.

The compromise states that all non-U.N. nations, 12 in the RAS region at this time, would be given 3/5 of a vote, amounting to seven votes in all. The eight U.N. nations would retain their one vote, bringing their total to eight.

President Gordon Grath of Kelanthia voiced his view on the compromise in an official letter, "I guess that this could maybe work. But ALL non-UN people would need to approve it before I will agree to it."
