Zulu Warrior Rocketry announces breakthrough!
The national military rocketry project Zulu Warrior announced a breakthrough today in their research of an IRBM for use in overland intermediate warfare. The specifications of the finished IRBM are thus far mostly classified, but spokesman Nolo Arthur has revealed that the ADI-R2 "Long Spear" will have an approximate range of 6000 kilometers and uses a 2-stage liquid chemical propulsion system. The most eagerly expected function of the Long Spear is it's warhead capabilities - The matter is of course classified, but is expected to adapt to at least HE, nuclear and possibly napalm warheads.
We wanted to bring an interview with the spokesman and project leader Mr. Arthur, but he is currently busy meeting guidance system deadline, and we figured our potential clients are more interested in hearing what the defense industries' export spokesman had to say:
"We're certainly intending to export this potent missile, and orders can already be placed. However, we reserve the right to perform analysis of requesting nations' society and government, and also to reject them forthright if we believe they will use our armament for purposes that do not behoove our foreign policy."
The Long Spear will cost a bargain 15 million a piece and, as said, we will accept orders now. The missile comes without a warhead, and we are not yet ready for orders larger than ten missiles per order - The African Commonwealth are at this very minute building more missile manufactoring plants, however.
[22/10-2003] Zulu Warrior Project has developed nuclear ICBM!
The Zulu Warrior strikes again! Today the new "Black Titan" Inter Continental Ballistic Missile was unveiled as the African Commonwealth has finished it's first ICBM - Many more are thought to be under construction, and this ICBM is also for sale. At the modest price of 2.1 billion apiece, nations ready for the responsibility of inter-continental missile capability can gain a missile with following and impressive statistics:
Length: 30.2 metres
Launch Weight(armed): 100.5 metric tons
Payload: Single warhead Mk 4 RV
Warheads: Can be adapted for various weapons. 37 tons conventional HE, Unspecified chemichal/biological containment warhead or a W-38 3.75 megaton nuclear warhead.
Guidance: Normally radio or inertia-guided, but can be converted to guide via GPS or GLONASS systems.
Propulsion: 2-stage liquid.
Range: approx. 11.050 kilometers.
Accuracy: within 900 metres of designated target
Contractor: Zulu Warrior Rocketry, African Commonwealth.

Excellent! As you won't be needing the military land-over guidance system that ensures precision strikes on ground targets, we can supply it now and for a million dollars cheaper(it's being re-wired as we speak)! Look for it to be in Grotia by escorted heavy lift helicopter sometime tomorrow. Thank you for funding the Zulu Warrior project, and look for ICBM and SLBM models in the not too distant future!

Please ship 10 Long Spear IRBM's to these co-oridinates:
(encrypted)
These will be used to assist the Coldorran military in repelling an invasion force (we will probably be equipping them with nuclear warheads but we shall have to see).

Congradulations, my friend! This is an exciting development indeed for your nation. I have a proposal for you. We will pay full price for ten of your IRBMs, and we will share with you the modifications we intend to make. To wit: We intend to mount one of our Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicles on the booster, converting it into an Anti-Ballistic Missile System.

Coldorra [encrypted missive]>> After our compulsory background check we have decided that you can indeed buy the ADI-R2 Long Spear - Fitting them with nuclear warheads is a prudent, if dangerous move. We highly suggest you only hold nuclear Long Spears as a strategic deterrant, NOT a tactical one. Escorted Skycranes are shipping the missiles as we speak. ((OOC: I'll send you full tactical specs later today))
Kotterdam>> For our honorable and wise partners in trade Kotterdam, we shall sell the ten missiles for a bargain 120 million! We are very interested in the modifications, in light of using them on our own arsenal
Warm regards,
Zulu Warrior Rocketry.
Are these missiles adaptable for submarine launch?
Kotterdam

Quite simply, my friend, our technicians intend to take your missiles and change them from offensive weapons to defensive ones, capable of shooting down ballistic missile reentry vehicles while they are still beyond the atmosphere. As you may or may not know, the EKV functions by slamming into the target at high speed. Simple in concept, yes, but not quite as simple in execution. We believe your booster will make an excellent launch vehicle. Also, my defense minister has asked me to mention that we wish to discuss commissioning a 155mm towed artillery piece with the manufacturers in your country.
The price seems most fair, my friend. We are wiring not only the funds, but the plans for the EKV and the design for the modified payload bus required to fit them to your missile.

We are indeed able to supply your most generous order, but may we ask what your, eh, disciplinarian nation would need such a powerful arsenal for? On the additional stipulation that we can veto any Pergatorian decision to employ Long Spear against us or any of our close allies(that includes only Lusaka and Kotterdam, neither of which you have any interest in fighting I'm sure), we will fulfill your order.

Our reasons for acquiring your missiles are primarily for recovering control over a few occupations in wartorn allies' nations, and primarily as an intimidation tactic in negotiations over hostilities. There haven't been, for as long as our documented history, any hostilities toward Lusaka or Kotterdam, and none can be foreseen in the future. If you would accept the former offer made, then the transaction can begin and these questions can be put to rest.

Considering your political standpoint as a democratic socialist republic, we doubt you would misuse our weapons. However, our finance dept. says it is our duty to inform you that such a weapons purchase would all but destroy your fragile economy - And they DO come without warheads. Do you still wish to purchase 20.000 Long Spears at the modest price of 320 billion US DOllars?
Pergatorio>>
Our sincere apologies for assuming you did not wish to employ ADI services. We will dismiss preposterous UN claims that your national leader is a mad dictator posthaste, and supply you with the Long Spears. 50 ADI-R2 IRBMs are shipped, and your order is confirmed upon completed transaction of the 750,000,000. We thank you for your generous purchase, and we're telegraphing exact missile statistics to you now. Do reply and let us discuss aforementioned trade pact.
