As for alliances, I can not think of any that you would be able to join at the moment.

Second, you don't want to declare war on anyone just yet. You will be crushed like an insignifigant speck, and I will be one of the nations doing the crushing.
Third, read the FAQs at the top of the forum. Trust me, they'll say a lot more than any of us can.

I started three days ago and have yet to yell "I DECLEAR WAR ON blah blah". As soon as I got on this forum I read the threads. I'm sure many other new players do too. Its unreasonable to pre-judge all new players on the grounds that many prior to this point have made extravagent claims and declarations of war.
Tell you what, come around to my region Reformed Oceania, it's great for up and comming new members. We don't descriminate and we prtotect each other. The region is about community, you run your nation your way, we help you out, protect each other, but don't involve ourselve sin every little offencive move. And best of all we love nothing more than to help build up new nations then allow them to go off on their own merry way, of course we'd love them to stay and help other nations as we did them, but it's their choice. Anyway think about it.

I, too, am a rather new player. I recently joined my first region, but much of he messages I recieve seem antagonistic, if not right insulting. Is this standard? Are they attempting to goad me to a war of words?
How can I find out how one earns capital and conducts wars (defense).
