STAR GUARD Missile Defense System Upgrade

House Corino
14-10-2003, 23:43
In the dawn hours of 7:10 General Time, Chief Scientist of House Corino, Dr. Hynn, uploaded the past months worth of code into the STAR GUARD network.

Upon completion, which took over 14 hours, the STAR GUARD network began to pickup incoming signals from all over the area. ICBM's, LRM's, and everything down to shoulder-mounted RPG fire, began to appear as little vector graphs covering almost 46% of the Federated Islands.

Knowing that such figures were impossible, Dr. Hynn ripped off his hair piece in frustration. How could such malfunctions be possible? He had spent hours running simulations...

Suddenly, a more alarming realization came to mind. STAR GUARD was programmed to react to ANY and ALL fire within it's installed borders. The system meant to protect the population, was now firing missiles at residential zones. That ment, that at hundreds of km per hour, hyper velocity missiles were streaming down towards unknown targets over populated areas.

In desperation, Dr. Hynn punched the emergency release, twisted all three safety switches, and pushed the red button.

The screens of STAR GUARD's monitors went blank. Over a hundred missiles exploded mid-journey over the FI.
