The Opressive Church, a Dictatorship, effectively ruled by the Catholic Church, was devastated today. The Arch Bishop, head of the Opressive Church (A branch of Catholicism) and sovereign ruler of the Nation, was shot dead on the steps of St. Elizabeth's Cathedral about an hour ago. Also shot was Bishop Gerald Heridict, Mother Annet Friender, Father Quentin Reinheart, and passerby Judith Pelting.

The Arch Bishop, Ima Gona Condemnu, native of the South Pacific, who left her home island with Missionaries of the Catholic Church 56 years ago, was 62 years old. After the recent rioting in the country over the past month, the Church was writing out a Constitution, and was going to turn over power to an Elected Democratic Government. The Constitution was to go in effect in 48 hours, within 2 days from today, the Opressive Church would be a democracy. These plans have been scratched, and the country placed under martial law.

The Assassin was publicly executed only minutes ago. Mass rioting has broken out in all major cities. The population has set at least 3 Catholic Church's on fire. The Civilian populations at first were sadly stricken that their leader was murdered. But after the Constitution was scraped, the country placed under martial law, the Citizens went mad, swamping the streets of major cities.

As of this hour, the lose knit military of the Church is protecting the Cathedrals in the larger cities from large crowds. The Church has no leader, and the Country has no clue who is ruling it at this point.... Wait, this just in, the Church has asked all God Fearing Catholic Nations for aid, and Peace Keeping forces.

St. Elizabeth's In Flames


As morning broke, the chaos from the night before had disappeared, as the people went back into their homes and slept. As the sun rose, the people heard the news, the Government had called in Peacekeeping forces from Foreign Nations. This only enraged the people more. Around two hours ago, very large crowds started to gather outside St. Elizabeth's Cathedral, the very place where the Nation and Church's leader was assassinated 18 hours ago. The small military that protected the 13th Century Gothic Cathedral were pelting with rocks, beaten with shovels, and several brutally beaten to death. The Priests and Monks of the Cathedral yelled at the people, trying to calm them down, with phrases from the Bible anything. How could these God Loving Catholics, who attended mass just last Sunday, and were the perfect example of Church Gores turn into blood crazed rioting maniacs, wanting only the destruction of the Church!

The small Military surrounded the Building was pushed aside and beaten by the crowds. Bishop Renald Piender pleaded with the people to stop with a loud speaker from inside the Cathedral.

"We will not listen to the Church anymore!" Someone cried out before shots rang out. Two Priests, and Nine Monks were shot, they all bled to death on the steps of St. Elizabeth's. The Rioters tried to break into the Cathedral, but it's massive Stone Walls, and 10 inch thick wooden doors were impenetrable to their attempts.

Someone started a fire at the main entrance, the massive doors went up in flames, as did several dozen rioters. The rioters that caught fire burned to death, this horrifying experience caused most of the crowd to disperse in horror. Sadly, the Cathedral was still on fire. After the massive doors burned, the Oak floor was set ablaze. The pew's quickly caught on fire as well. The Cathedral was an inferno within twelve minutes. The Huge wooden beams in the Bell Towers slowly were collapsing, the ornate 15th Century Stained Glass Windows burst into little pieces as the heat rose. One of the beams holding a 2 ton Bell in the Bell Tower, collapsed, causing to Bell to fall through the tower, through the ground floor of the Cathedral, through the Basement used for housing the Monks, and into the old Catacombs beneath the City. The beautiful, hand crafted, glass and wood ceiling, broke under the heat. The huge limestones of the outer walls of the Cathedral were scorched black. Flames billowed out of the openings where the stain glass windows used to be, the heat from the flames was 190' degrees (F) seven blocks away. Several of the Fly Buttresses collapsed. The 18th century buildings surrounding the Cathedral, barely escaped the flames, as a fire brigade arrived. After five minutes of drowning the massive building in water, the flames smoldered.

A testate to this horrific day, the Stone Structure sat hollowed, it's stone scorched, it's windows blown out, it's roof collapsed. It's ornate Marble Alter, miraculously survived, crucifix and all, thanks to the fact that the floor around it had recently been torn up, and was going to be reinstalled, due to termites. The Alter was still scorched black from the flames, however.

At least twenty-three burnt corpses were found in the Cathedral, and the Monk's quarters below it, add to that the twenty rioters who burned to death, and the eleven monks and priests who were shot, and the ten military personel who were beaten to death, the death toll comes out to sixty four.

The Cathedral housed 150 Monks and Priests, so it wasn't the worst possible scenario.

Upon hearing of St. Elizabeth's' destruction, the other Cathedrals in the country tried to tighten security. The Cathedral St. Johns took extreme measures for security, as it stood only a few blocks away from the burnt ruins of St. Elizabeth's.

Bump... I'm guessing not alot of Religious nations out there...

The Theocracy of Quinntonia is horrified to hear of these attacks. We have 10% of our population who are Catholic, and would like to help. However, about 65% of our population, and most of our government is Lutheran, will you still accept our help?

Lutheranism has yet to be banned in this country... Mostly because of the fact that there are no Lutherans living in the country. So I suppose... As long as your soldiers don't carry any Lutheran Bibles, or symbols of the Lutheran Church around in Public. And if they must hold mass, they must do it out of public sight.

Well.. yes, my government is Athiest. But they do not condemn those that mix politics and religion.

In fact, the reason my government is Athiest is because our citizens wanted it so, however, I assure you that C-G is a Catholic Nation.

We just perfer to not mix Religion with Government as to give other refugees to our nation an easier time in settling.

Though my nation has a majority of Lutheran citizens, we do not officially oppress any church denomination or religion. Anyy troops we may have could pssibly contain Hindus or Catholics, we have required military service in our nation and our units are not designed on basis of faith. As for mass and other worship services, our Chaplains and Prayer Warriors (men and women who travel with the troops in order to pray for them) must have the freedom to openly pray and worship our creator. You might like to know that all Prayer Warriors and Chaplians are Christians. Though, again, not necasserily Catholic. You seem to be in danger from an anti-religious orginisation and we would be more than happy to help. I represent an alliance of several dozen Christian and sypathetic nations. Some Catholic, some not. A few are not even Christian. But, they will fight and die to protect a peoples right to worship. You said before that you were going to institute elections and turn the government over to the people. With your promise to do this, we will help in some small way. Now, I will ask you one more time, do you want our help?

The Church remains in a state of constant fear. The country is quiet now, the citizens have stopped their rebellion against the church. But the Church is affriad to restore complete order to the country, so it remains in a state of anarchy outside the Cathedral's walls. Roumors of DSRO terrorist agents surface. The neighboring nation of Your Nickname cought a DSRO agent trying to sneak into the Church's territory...
