The people of the Federal state of Vokia will vote on Sunday 19th October on whether to accept an agreement made by the Hrstrovokian Federal Government and the Vokian Liberation Army for an autonomous republic, or if rejected, complete independence.
The Government would have probably liked to have squashed the independence movement in Vokia, but following the Civil War, wastoo weak to do so. Talks with the V.L.A. had been going on for almost 2 months.
The proposals reached by the bilateral talks have been notably. Vokia would become an autonomous republic, still part of the federation, but would follow an independent line with regards to it’s own domestic and foreign policy, defence and taxes. Vokia would have it’s own Assembly and Senate, voted for by the Vokian people, and would elect a President who would be the Representative of the people and commander in chief of the Vokian Armed Forces.
If it is rejected by the people, it is likely the V.L.A. will renew it’s operations and strike for independence. The Government has forseen such an outcome, and will probably condemn the V.L.A. for turning it’s back on democracy and peace, before promptly invading the state and claiming the right to rule in the name of democracy and peace.
