The governor of Tritonites, Lord Chris Hrycek, has announced that their shipyards on Oberon have created the first of a new class of spacecraft, for exploring, and possibly colonising, interstellar space. It has been named the MSS Flaming Arrow. The non-classified specs are here:
Height: 50 metres
Width: 40 metres
Length: 500 metres
Maximum practicable speed: 45.73% of c (137,190,000 metres per second)
Weaponry: 4x SBAM cannon
Armour: 15 cm thick neutronium plate
This ship, along with a crew of 350, will be sent to the nearby star of Epsilon Eridani, to incestigate the planets there, and return.
Lord Chris had this to say about the new ship:
"The MSS Flaming Arrow represents our next step into becoming people of the stars, not just beings from the Sol system. We are already spread out among dozens of moons, but our greatest chance for stability will come from the colonisation of other star systems. Epsilon Eridani is a star that is very much like Sol, with previously detected planets, so it was an obvious choice for the destination of the first interstellar mission."
