this system uses a high-powered laser to directly attack the enemy weapon's optics and gunner.

mounted on a roof of one of stalingrad's recon vehicles, the active laser self-defence weapon (front)
and laser warning receiver (back), it successfully defended the unit from the incoming laser guided/infra-red missiles, all the 10 missiles missed the target

another active laser self-defence weapon successfully protected the targets against LGBs[i][laser guided bombs] only 2 out of 6 hit.

The system includes a laser warning receiver (LWR - dome-shaped device ), that warns the crew that their unit is being illuminated by an enemy range-finding or weapon-guidance laser. The turret can then be traversed to face the direction of the enemy threat, and the laser self-defence weapon (LSDW - the box-shaped device ), can be employed against the source of the enemy laser.

The procedure of the laser weapon would first use a low-powered beam to locate the optics of the enemy weapon. Once the enemy weapon was located, the power level of the laser would be immediately and dramatically increased. Such an attack would disable the guidance optics of the enemy weapon and/or damage the eyesight of the enemy gunner.

The laser weapon can be elevated to a higher angle, indicating that the engagement of attack helicopters/aircraft/missiles is possible. In addition, the laser device could also be used for communications between friendly tanks.

the cost of this device is 250,000 Stalingrad roubles, the production rights cost 3.5 billion.
the cost of aircraft active laser counter measures version is 300,000.

Please Note:
We dont grant any dealer licenses(reselling of our weapons by other dealers) nor manufacturer licenses(production of the weapons by other nations) to avoid the wide spreading of these weapons and their falling into "undesired" hands.
We thank you for your understanding of the precautions we must take.

Any possibility to use this on naval ships? Other words; would it be usefull on ships? I am unsure if I wan't to buy this yet.

this system can be used on a donkey if it got onboard computer, wind sensor, and control panel

Its cool that you have found pics of a Rl system using it but these are already in reasonably widescale use (ie i include them on most of my AFVs).

Personally i have issues with the effectiveness of an airbonre unit (who uses traditional laser illumination giudance on an AA weapon?) so i modfied it to actively deal with any IR or EO seekers

Ah well, they look OK anyway ;)

Although now that i think about it having the entire system on a pole, could cause problems as the system would be somewhat isolated from the unit, perhaps causing problems.

well, it doesnt, it can be installed without one like the tank version..
