Shattered Dreams (RP)

Valkonezh lake, a few kilometers away from any human contact (Namely being Valkonezh itself, the capitol city of the United Socialist States of Zvarinograd), the only pristine environment left in Zvarinograd...

...or is it?

A convoy of T-98 MBTs roll past the icy lake on the ploughed dirt road, a lone truck sits in the middle trying to pace itself with the ever so slow tanks. Over the horizon, viewed from the truck, a military base covered with snow.

A wilder'd being from my birth
My spirit spurn'd control,
But now, abroad on the wide earth,
Where wand'rest thou my soul?

An hour passes, the convoy arrives. The top brass watch in eager anticipation of the truck's arrival. The truck stops in front of a medium sized barracks. The driver gets down and goes to the back, helping the passengers down. The passengers...

...are children in military uniform.

In visions of the dark night
I have dream'd of joy departed —
But a waking dream of life and light
Hath left me broken-hearted.

Excerpt of "A Dream" by Edgar Allan Poe.
OOC:
I recently found a piece of information, a human's peak learning capacity begins in a certain age at childhood. If you were to teach the brightest and greatest children standard military training, they can be fully trained in a matter of days or weeks, not months. Guess how that relates with the RP? Continue please.

Inside the white snowy vicinity of the base, the children were closely guarded by "caretakers" as they were given standard boot camp practice. Many stumbled, wept, but were quickly disciplined to move on. Those who continue to refuse...

...were shot. Motivating the others to care less about freedom and more about thier task.

Time passes, the remaining children grew ever so devoid of emotion. No longer the happy free spirits they once were, but dark reflections of the past. So was the atrocity of our country, so was the evil that stood behind our masks of diplomacy.

Meanwhile, all of the United Socialist States of Zvarinograd's troops who were sent in aid begun thier journey back to the nation's grim embrace. Save for those sent to the Belmore's aid (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=79287).

The "caretakers" kick the stumbling children, some kicking so hard as to break a rib. The lifeless bodies of the children whom refused to take orders lie on the cold concrete collecting small crystals of snow. The men in the guard towers watch the kids, smoking cigarretes and sharing stories from the front.

Next comes the range, kids so young are given tools of death, to be trained to kill, to have no mercy on their foes. Some kids cannot even carry the rifle, let alone shoot it. The children line up next to each other, aim their rifles and fire a shot, two kids fall and are shot for doing so, "If they cannot carry a weapon on the range, then they are no use on the battlefield" a gaurd remarks. The children who remain standing reload their weapons and continue firing. Again a young boy falls and is shot on the spot without hesitation.

"What is left in the world?" a vetern soldier thinks to himself. "Is this what the whole world is coming to, kids shooting rifles at another enemy foe, does it come down to whos finger is quicker on the trigger. They are kids for god's sake!". The soldier walks of throwing the butt of his cigarrete on the ground...

"Sir, we are getting satalite feed of military buildup, should I put it on the main screen?

"Make it so"

"Sir, tthey apear to be. . . they appear to be children. . ."

The captian watches as a child, refusing to move is shot, falling to the ground and stainig the snow deep crimson.

"dear god. . . what barbarians would do such a thing?"

"should we make a formal statement?"

"no. . . I don't want to comprimise our possitions in space quite yet. . . lets keep an eye on this and see how it works out"

Several thoughts come to the soldier, as he rested against the walls of the barracks, looking at the range. Thoughts of great men, thoughts of conscience to his country and thoughts of those who rule it.

"A boy can learn a lot from a dog: obedience, loyalty, and the importance of turning around three times before lying down."
Robert Benchley (1889 - 1945)

"When you think of the long and gloomy history of man, you will find more hideous crimes have been committed in the name of obedience than have ever been committed in the name of rebellion."
C. P. Snow (1905 - 1980)

"In obedience there is always fear, and fear darkens the mind."
J. Krishnamurti

".... You ask, What is our policy? I will say; "It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us: to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, terrorism, never surpassed in the dark lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy." You ask, What is our aim? I can answer with one word: Victory - victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival.""
Premier Alexey Zvarinsky (Parody of Sir Winston Churchill (1874 - 1965))

"Who was our ruler to judge what is human crime? When his own country lurks under the veil of it?"

His thoughts, as again, a child dies.

OOC:
I know that. :P

I'll think of something to keep myself from getting hammered to the ground, somehow.

Jack Gillman, an ASOIA agent, sat on a snowy hill about twelve kilometres from the base. He wiped some frost off of his binoculars and looked down at the base again, he had watched the convoy arrive, the children being unloaded out of the trucks, and the execution of those that didn't co-operate.

"This is definately bad, they can't get away with that shit," he thought as he grabbed his laptop with satellite uplink, "Command is going to hear about this, then they'll make a statement and then the guys with the guns and tanks can take care of this mess."

He sat, typing away his message to the relay satellite which would scramble the message before sending it through the network so it would become untracable.

"They'll pay for this." he said as he finished typing and hit enter.

If the events described really took place then the parents of those defenseless boys should arrest and execute those responsible.

If that's not possible, then every nation that keeps human rights sacred will storm across your border and finish you and all adults who have committed this heinous crime. To be sure your penalty will be severe and final.

I have spies in most countries, mostly those who are in the international community. Most expensive than my spy satellites, but still more effective.

Meanwhile, USSV High Command HQ, General H'nekov's quarters

"General," A man, wearing a black trench coat and hat with a golden Swastika pin walks into the room. "how is our operation coming along?"

The general swings his ergonomic chair slowly to face the man.

"Yes, everything is going according to plan. Our men are ready to revolt and rule upon this nation "righteously". No one will believe what our "leader" says after it becomes public knowledge!"

"Excellent comrade... very excellent." The man leaves, he closes the door.

Easily manipulated fool! I will rule this country alone!

The man thinks to himself, as he laughs maniacally.

IC:

"intercepting a transmition from that country, looks like someone is going to spill the beans."

"wonderful" the commander said, his voice dripping with sarcasm "contact Takian high command and inform them of the situation, we'll undoubtibly need to make a statment."

Gillman sat under a snow-covered tree, eating a chocolate bar when the reply came from Command, he qucikly finished eating and read over the message.

Information not enough, obtain more detailed observations and report them back to Command within 6 hours time.

"Damn it," he thought, "Now I have to go down there."

He packed up his computer and binoculars into his bag and took out his Glock 22 along with a few extra magazines for it. He sighed as he put his skis on and began trekking towards the base, his gun inside his jacket pocket along with the extra magazines.

He now hated his job even more...

General H'nekov sighs as he looks upon the window of his car as he drives past the ceaseless white snow. Dreams of power led him to nap, as his car drives towards the base.

"The time has come, this nation shall bend into my will."

OOC:
Heh. Nice move Aequatio, now I'm assured of not being killed since H'nekov will issue his next orders to the men in the base, to revolt. Gillman will arrive and see him, finding about the consipiracy and telling the world of the dissidents. :D

Gillman dumped his skis and poles behind a tree and sneaked up to the base, with his gun drawn he opened a window to a barracks and went in. A weapon storeroom, devoid of people. He took out his computer and digital camera and began taking pictures of the weapons before packing up and taking a look around. He spotted a box with uniforms in it, thinking quickly he looked for one that fit and put it on... now he was dressed as an officer and could get around the base a little easier... somewhat.

He left the storeroom and moved on to find an officer's quarters or communications building. As he walked by a barracks, a soldier heading out to his shift on guard duty saw him and promptly saluted... surprised, Gillman nodded and imitated the salute the soldier was giving him and the soldier went on his way.

"Phew... that was f*cking close," he thought, feeling his heart race, "Now to find out what this place is up to."

He entered another building... success, a communications hut, radios and computer terminals were laid out at desks. Quickly, he began to look through the books and radio transmission logs, taking pictures with his camera.

"Hmmm... a lot of talk of revolution and change," he pondered, "Perhaps this isn't a legitimate government project."

Gillman moved on to the computers and hooked up his own laptop and began to copy files over from the terminal. He copied maps, plans, equipment inventories, and a file he was unable to open there so he'd take it back for the hackers that worked in the basement at ASOIA headquarters.

As soon as he copied the last file, he heard the door open and two technicians walk in. Quickly he screwed the suppressor onto his pistol and took it out of his pocket, one of them saw it and drew a pistol of his own and went to fire... he was the first to die, Gillman dashed the few steps and grabbed the other before he could make for the door. He quickly dispatched the second man and stuffed the bodies into a closet.

"Shit... didn't expect that,' he said aloud as he packed up his laptop, "Now I need to get the hell out of this place."

He walked out of the communication hut and made for the tree where he had stashed his skis...

Meanwhile, back at the base.

General H'nekov walks towards the communications hut to broadcast to the entire world this project. However, when he opened the door, he saw blood leading towards the closet. He stands aside the closet and opens it, down comes the two dead technicians. He quickly races outside and spots one of his loyal soldiers.

"Molotov, Sound the alarm!"

"What happened sir?" The soldier hastily replied.

"Two technicians were killed inside our communications hut by an intruder! Increase patrols at the vicinity of the base, tell those who are currently outside to actively search for any spy, we should not let our secret be discovered!"

Gillman looked back at the base, "Holy f*ck, guards are going apeshit down there." He took off the skis and tossed the poles away and started off into a run through the snow, he just needed to get to his jeep and call for extraction.

He reached the cave where his Land Rover was hidden away in the darkness and got in, once it was moving, he got on his radio and called for extraction from any Aequatian unit. The submarine Artemis was in the area and picked up his call.

"Agent Gillman, this is Captain Hobbes, how can we help?"

"Need a pick up... can be at co-ordinates 06547-03498 within twenty minutes, over."

"Roger that Gillman, we'll get a raft ashore with a team to get you out of here, over and out."

"Great... now I just need to get to the beach."

"Base to Black Leader, our secret has been discovered, we are currently on alert and increasing patrols in search of the intruder. For the meantime, should we declare it now?"

"You fool! The declaration will be null if the world finds out later that this is just a conspiracy to remove Zvarinsky from power! Find that spy and eliminate him, or it will be all hell from here."

"Dah, comrade. Base out."

Elsewhere, an EA-26B attack helicopter on a routine patrol is alerted of the intrusion and changes it's flight course towards the surrounding coastal area. The pilot turns on IR systems...

"Shit... roger that Artemis, is there any way to either avoid the aircraft or shoot it down?"

"Negative, we aren't a f*cking aircraft carrier Gillman... move to Point Bravo, over and out."

"F*cking navy boys..."
