Looking for B-17 and B-27's

06-10-2003, 12:44
The tiny nation of Phoibinon wishes to buy 10 B-17's and 10 B-27's, with spare parts and some bombs, for research purposes.

Sorry, can't offer you any, but you're more than welcome to check out my storefront! I have a pretty foregiving bomber in there, you may not reverse-engineer or make your own though.

I need piston powered bombers for research, jets are pretty much useless for my project...

Alright. If you ever need high-speed intercontinental bombers, you know who to call!

The Stockley-made Oak bomber is in short supply, but for a decent offer it might be worth our while to furnish you with some examples..

Perhaps, for an order that size, a million pounds would secure the deal.

-FDM General Sir Jack Jones, WoS.

(ooc:That's Walmingtonian pounds, worth about four US dollars each. We would feel like we were ripping you off at that price, but we're hoping you don't know. Wouldn't normally try that, but we are at war, and this is one of our most hi-tech weapons :) )

We wouldn't be able to mass-produce such aircraft as the majority of the construction will be done by hand, but a number of staff members at the Vega Aerospace Consortium have volunteered to build a number of Avro Lancaster Bombers to meet your needs. In fact, they have expressed their intention to commence construction of at least one example of this venerable aircraft whether you wish to purchase it or not. I must admit to being intrigued. What, pray tell, do you intend to do with these World War II vintage aircraft?

Gasp... 2.500.000.000 Phoibian Drachmes enough for 6?

And we intent to re-develop the destroyer concept, using modern technology. You'll see soon ;)

And Kotterdam, how much for that lancasters?

Heh, well, the price is some what negotiable (curses, that would have bought us ..I don't know how many corvettes!)

Anyway, the Oak is a far superior aircraft to the Lancaster in that..er..ooh, it goes further! And..I believe the ceiling of the Avro bird is somewhat less than Stockley's offering.

Further, I assure you that the destroyers currently in the service of His Majesty King Godfrey III's Royal Walmingtonian Navy employ the very latest technologies! Two of the last three marks carry sonar! Why HMWS Thresher recently sank the mighty Graf Haydrech and lived to tell the tale!

Well, you must understand that we could easily charge prices into the high millions per individual Lancaster. Currently there are precisely two working examples of this aircraft in the world, and collectors would kill for a chance to own one.

We'll sell them to you for k250,000 a piece. ($500,000 USD equivalent) You see, our engineers are doing this for free, and the Vega Aerospace Consortium is recieving fabulous PR. You simply can't buy this kind of good press. For all the good that this project has done our aviation industry and for the priviledge of letting our engineers do something they've always wanted to - namely fly a Lancaster heavy bomber - we will offer you the aforementioned discounted price.

My dear sir, there are hundreds of Lancasters, and in but a short while you may ask Der Kriegsmarine for evidence of the fact!

Sorta, Kinda IC: *Decides to screw with history just a tad*

Air Marshal, has anyone ever proposed to you the idea of using radio waves to detect aircraft?

OOC: I don't suppose I could get in on your WWII RP if I asked real nicely and created a puppet for the purpose, could I?

ooc: Search about a bit for posts by Walmington on Sea, Iansisle, Der Kriegsmarine (and you'll find others in those threads). There's a whole community of "space ships are no fun" nations out there :)
And many of us already have radar!

Actually, I meant flying destroyers... Interceptors with lots of guns.

Also four Lancasters please.

Your order has been confirmed. You may expect your Lancasters within one NS year (24 RL hours). That will be k1,000,000 ($2,000,000 USD).
