The Commonwealth Army and Marine Corps have long been searching for a replacement for their ageing Kiowa Warriors, and have finally launched an international competition.

Requirements:
First and foremost: To enter this completion, you must be willing to grant a license to build your helicopter to us. We will be requiring large numbers of this aircraft, and this is the most practical and efficient way of meeting this.

There are no speed and range requirements. The best aircraft in these categories wins the categories.

Payload: MINIMUM requirements:
4 wing hard points, capable of Hellfire, Stinger and TOW missiles, various rocket pods, 20mm cannon pods, etc.
Accommodation: Minimum requirements:
2 pilots, 2 passengers
Sensors:
No specific sensor packages mandated, but must have mast mounted sight, capable of providing guidance for Hellfire and TOW missile systems, and must have IFR and NV capabilities.

The final contract for the winning type will be for over 5,000 aircraft.

MAH-6 Light Attaack Helicopter

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-9/387586/untitled.JPG

A small, nimble helicopter, that was origonally used for Recon and Light Weapons, has been powered up and turned into a killing machine.

The MAH-6 is based on the light chassis of the MAH-7, a recon helo and light weapons platform. It had light engines, a small arnament and was very quick and nimble.

We have beefed up the engines to a higher RPM, more power and wider rotors, to give us more lift and more weapons and weight capability.

Capable of holding the same weapons as the AH-64D Apache, and a larger payload too, but lighter, faster and more nible. It has similar weapons pilons to the Mi-24 Hind, capable of carrying 20 ATGM's or similar weapons, Rocket Pods, or several Sidewinders or the like. It may not be able to stand up to much punishment, despite its thick, 3cm thick Plastic Composite underbelly, and bulletproof, thich glass, but it makes up for it in maneuverability.

Also capable of carrying benches for Spec Ops troops, and has detachable pilons, meaning for high utility value. It also has a 20mm Chain Gun with over 500 rounds of ammo, which means it can powderise infantary and light vehicles with it. It can land in tight spaces, and stay up in the air for upwards of 5 hours, allowing for maximum air time.

Aswell as benches that can be mounted on top of the weapons pilons on the sides, it has a small crew cabin for 3 in the back. Heavy weapons such as .50 cals and M134 Miniguns can be set up here, on a universal loading mount. This adds great versatility to it.

Can be used for Close Air Support aswell, or anti tank, and is capable if fully armed with its 20 capable ATGM's, Hellfires, HOT's or any other weapon such as that, of decimating a tank convoy or even a tank division, if there are 2, and more can really cause bother.

Best used with air support, as its only weakness is other helicopters, adn aircraft.

I hope you are interested.

EA-28 Light/ScoutSpecial Forces Helicopter (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=66401)

The EA-28 Helicopter is a helicopter designed to meet a requirement from the Elias Air Force for a combat scout and a light utility helicopter. It is an ideal replacement for OH-58 ‘Kiowa’ and OH-6 ‘Little Bird’ types that serve in many armed services around the world.
The helicopters basic airframe is extremely flexible and can be used for a variety of different roles.

Features (All versions)

The Most notable feature of the design is the NOTAR anti-torque system which eliminates the need for a tail rotor improving survivability and making ground operations safer for both the aircraft and people on the ground. The modular structure incorporates other crashworthy and damage-tolerant features, including a five-bladed, bearing less main rotor. The fuselage is mainly of aluminium-lithium construction. The aerodynamic rotor blades are constructed from carbon/glass with nomex honeycomb and rohacell foam. Active vibration control of the structural response uses a vibration-cancelling technique.

The helicopter operates in temperatures ranging from -20 to +50 degrees C. An ice protection system allows operation in icing conditions. An engine inlet particle separator system provides protection in sandy environments. Durable, light weight skids made of composite materials permit operation from soft or rough terrain. The unique design of the helicopter allows it to land in small clearings and other confined areas where most other helicopters would not be able to.

The cockpit is equipped with armoured crew seats able to withstand an impact velocity of 35ft per second. Dual flight controls are provided for the pilot and co-pilot, but the helicopter is capable of being flown by a single pilot. The electronic instrument system includes four high-definition full-colour displays, together with a digital mission (military versions only), the controls feature 70% commonality with the much larger EA-28 helicopter to simplify the amount of training needed to change type. Every version is equipped with a FLIR mounting and is cleared for full night time operation.

All Versions can be quickly converted for the medical evacuation/ air ambulance role with room for two stretchers and a medical attendant.

Every Version can accommodate an under slung external load of up to 3,500lb

All military Versions can be fitted with steel benches above the weapon hardpoints for a maximum of three persons on each side, although two is more advisable

All helicopter versions can be upgraded with a full protection suite of Electronic counter measures, chaff/flare dispensers. $80,000 (standard on some versions)

Specifications applicable to all versions:

Powerplants: 2 EPE-16B turboshafts producing 645 shp each.

Performance:

Cruising speed: 145 knots.
Max Speed: 160 knots
Max Range: 395 nautical Miles (approx. endurance 3 h 36 min)

Versions:

-EA-28A Standard Utility, 4.5 million
Crew: 1/2 Pilot(s), Capacity: 6, Armament: None

This version is not designed for civilian use in a variety of utility roles

-EA-28C Military Utility Combat Scout Version. 5.2 million
Crew: 1 Pilots + 1 Pilot/Observer. Capacity: 6 Armament: two hardpoints for either gun pods or free flight rocket pods. Features: Armour plated cockpit and passenger compartment.

This Version is the basic military version and is equipped with armour and hardpoints for armament. It can accommodate a maximum of six troops in a somewhat cramped passenger compartment. Alternatively in a medevac role it can accommodate up to two stretchers and a medical attendant.

-EA-28E law Enforcement Version 5 million
Crew: 1 Pilots + 1 Pilot/Observer. Capacity: 6. Features: Search light thermal imaging TV camera, loudhailer system.

The EA-28E is the perfect chopper for most Police operations, especially in urban areas due to its manoeuvrability and ability to land in confined spaces.

-EA-28G Light Attack/Special Forces Helicopter. 6.6 million
Crew: 1 Pilots + 1 Pilot/Observer. Capacity: 6 Armament: two/four hardpoints for either gun pods, free flight rocket pods or sets of four air to ground or air to air missiles. Features: Armour plated cockpit and passenger compartment, advanced electronics and sensors, full countermeasures suite, IR protective coating and sound dampening.

This is an upgraded ‘C’ Version with an emphasis on armour, armament and other protection systems. This version also features a sensor pod mounted just forward of the main rotor, above the cockpit and includes: A 12x Magnification TV Camera, an auto focusing thermal imaging camera and a laser rangefinder/designator with automatic target tracking and bore sighting allowing the helicopter not only to guide anti-tank missiles such as Hellfire but also to designate targets for other aircraft. This version is ideal for leading attack helicopter formations, combat scouting deep into enemy territory or special forces insertion /extraction particularly in urban assault/jungle missions due to its manoeuvrability and ability to land in confined spaces

Mainly because it doesnt meet all of the requirements, but it is still the front runner.
