Falastur Freedom Country Talaax Reichskamphen & Dark Ter
This shall be thread in which we post our battles and escapades.
Colonel Duncan Breadrick stood on the border of Victory Island and Russiapovia. He had his musket slung over his back, his pistol bolstered in his trousers, his medals glinting in the wind. His proud, navy uniform stood upon his body, his face dark and mysterious. " Follow me men! Now we start a war " he shouted as his men whooped with joy. 50,000 men were to make the journey across. Late winter was a great time to start a journey he thought, a good chance to get it over quickly. He knew Russiapovia would not call to arms, to assemble their army would take weeks and with 300,000 men armed and ready in the country next to them, it would be suicide. His troops, hard-nosed and ready marched along singing war poems. The Blue Orderians, determined and gallant, the ethnic Ulstermen, harsh and brutal, they stared in wonder at the sights that beheld them, mountains, tall and fierce, springs of clear water bubbling away, animals darting to and fro in daily life. Their pace never let up, as they marched away to war............
It's in the other thread, its the map of Reichskamphen.
General Ae'tius looked down from atop a hill into the Talaaxian camp. Men were milling about, eating, feeding horses, shining bayonets. The sort of thing a man does to keep his mind off of the ordeal of war which he will shortly be facing. The General had seen combat before and led men through it and felt confident he could do it again.
By dawn the next day, the Expeditionary Force had assembled in formation, facing Russapovia. The order to march was given and the army set out to war.
With in the next few hours the Reichskamphen King would recieve a hand written declaration of war, sealed with the official seal of the Talaaxian King.
Okay
My troops origonally start at 'Axis America'.
I have one army of 100,000 men Arbeitstabt, to the north of it, one posted where the road passes over/round the river at the north west, and one on the nature reseve off it.
I have set up a major camp where Arbeitstadt WOULD be.
Happy?
Breadrick consulted with his fellow officers. Word had come that Talaaxian forces had reached Victory Island, and were soon to be making their way through Russapovia. The plan was to join up with the Talaaxian force at Kamphstadt, and attack the fortified line of Reichskamphen at it's weakest point, enabling the flow of other troops to go through unhindered. His spirits were high, and his step sprighly. The weather was cold, but nothing the experienced soldiers could not handle. The Blue Orderians were waiting............
Alrighty.
Were mobilizing up a total of 75,000 men to begin marching down to Reichenshcamphen (SP). 45,000 troops, 10,000 cavalry, some cooks+whatnot, and the sailors of our fleet which is Frigates and a few Ships Of the Line's.
We should get there in... oh lets say 7 months?
At the Nature Reserve off Axis America
The 100,000 man army, with huge amounts of cannons, boards on a great Armada, due for Kamphstahdt.
Okay
They are due in 14 days (which is roughly an hour RL time)
When they arrive, they will set up defnsive positions, trenches and cannon spots. Also, a special Highland Regiment (better trained) will take residence in the fort, as will many cannons.
Which is two NS days. Set off and quickly. Attack the coast of Reichskamphen. I have 250,000 men currently on Victory Island, and with 50,000 marching through Russapovia.
Im at the far north in Akkiliam... so basically Ill tromp down and attack him, and get slaughtered since my generals know nothing about war and see it as a rosy cloud.

Charter your ships and attack the sea defences in Reichskamphen!! That would enable us to attack them on three fronts!!
As the Army marches towards Kamphstadt, the Talaaxian Navy, consisting of 50 frigates and 50 Corvettes ( not the total navy, but the naval presence in the area. ) takes up bloackading positions around the main port of Kamphstadt, hoping to starve out it's garrison. Any ships coming through are liable to sinking as they are entering a war zone. An official warning has been posted in all regional ports.
Talaax............are you attacking Kamphstadt, or going to Elbestadt and then attacking another point further in the line? I am heading toward Kamphstadt now, my men are less than 8 hours march away.
Uhmm, alright.
Consider my fleet of 24 frigates and 8 ships of the line to be on its way.
OOC: No, you're attacking Elbestadt then New Braunau. I'm attacking Kamphstadt then marching on Kaiserstadt.
Uh... who will mind if I post the map here?
Drop your men off at certain points, in groups of 5,000 or so, and conquer there coast!!
Ill land somewhere near Kumpatden (SP).
This will give us a brilliant advantage. Once the country has been taken, then I will send my other 250,000 troops in to defend it. It shall be taken! The Triple Entente shall be victorious! No one can stop us now!
OOC: No, you're attacking Elbestadt then New Braunau. I'm attacking Kamphstadt then marching on Kaiserstadt.
I suggest we pause the RP and wait until Reichskamphen gets back.
Oh yeah Im marchiong down my troops from the far north, but those will take a while.
AGreed.
Ok. I shall miss out Elbestadt, and go further up the border, and attack their. However, we do need to make sure Russapovia don't have the opportunity to join in. I am to send 2,500 of my troops in Victory Island to march on Elbestadt.
Dark Terror, I suggest you split your force, into two groups, one attacking their coast, and the other to march from the north. I agree halt RP until Reichskamphen comes back.
March your entire army on Elbestadt and New Braunau. This will ensure Russapovia not joining in the conflict. With the help of the DT troops landing near Kamphstadt I can take it. We can't march along only one axis. If we do the enemy only has to defend along one axis.
So are you suggesting I take control of Russapovia? If so, ok I agree. I will send my 25,000 men to Elbestadt, and lay siege to city if I have to. Another 25,000 shall march on New Braunau, and take it by force if necessary. Also, I will send 2,500 troops into the country, in case of revolt in more isolated parts of Russapovia. Let us take this country by force.
Very well. Blue Order, split your forces in half and march 25,000 to Elbestadt and 25,000 to Kamphstadt to aid me.
No, Dark Terror, continue with yours and Talaax's plans. I will deal with Russapovia.
The three of us will all take one major city in Russapovia. Then we will march on Kaiserstadt and Rechsburg in Reichskamphen.
I believe I should take Russapovia, and you two focus on Reichskamphen. We need Reichskamphen taking quickly. I will deal with Reichskamphen.
I have decided to send a further 150,000 of my men into Russapovia, 100,000 men to take each city. Russapovia still haven't got time to assemble their army, it would take months. Afer I have taken the country, I shall send my men into Reichskamphen.
Alright, I march on Reichsburg!
Doesnt ncessarily mean Ill get halfway there before being slaughtered, but...
10,000 Hussars

I am going to raise Russapovia to the ground. I shall enjoy burning it down if the citizens do not weild to me.
Duncan Breadrick headed toward Elbestadt with the rest of his company. He estimated it would take his men around 5 days to get there. They were to take Eblestadt by force if necessary, he was told. They won't be ready, a few muskets to put up with and lots of people wielding pitchforks and swords. The 100,000 men heading there now were seasoned warriors. Elbestadt had 4 million citizens. If what he had been told was right, that 100,000 would make sharp work of these people. His hoped they hadn't figured out that the Orderians were coming. They had made sure no citizen could send word. Nobody had been killed, but there was not a chance people could find out, any messenger would easily be seen and killed. No, he just had to wait until he got there.
OOC:
*wonders wholl be razing who* :?
They may be bigger than me, but we all know they aren't ready for this war. Reichskamphen told us they were staying out of it. Well, now they are coming into it.
There will be no razing. What's the point of conquering new lands if you're just going to burn them to the ground?
I am going to be diplomatic about the whole thing. Let them submit to us three, or face the consequences. Simple.
I must admit, I may suffer losses in taking the two main cities of Russapovia, but as soon as they are taken, then our plan cracks ahead. However, I believe, thinking about it we should, all three of us, attack or take over the cities. Then, with Russapovia on it's knees, we can worry about Reichskamphen. I submit that we send 50,000 of our troops each, against each city, or more if we have to.

*young messenger enters the HQ, to the Falasturian general's desk, "Sir, there are reports of talaaxian and DT armies advancing on our ally reichskamphen, on our border - it looks bad!"
"Great, just what we need. Dispatch messengers to their leadership, and to freedom country, immediately. We must aid them." He turns to a determined-looking older messenger, by his side, "Corporal, send word to the 1st Army HQ, we shall close down this advance, and force these armies to fight on several sides." Turning to a third messenger, "Corporal, send word to the 2nd Army HQ. Prepare to advance on (Edit:) dark terror, while their army is away. If this order comes through a second time, that is to be the official order to march. They shall feel the retribution of the Holy Empire. Godspeed to you all.....now go!"

OOC seeing as everyone else has 200-300,000 soldiers, i will increase also, but my new troops are positioned in defensive posiutions, so it will take time to get them in any real position of advantage...just to be fair....
IC 100,000 troops advance toward reich's eastern borders, to hopefully proceed through the lines of enemy troops, and close down their offensive. they are currently set up on falasturs NEern border. expect to arrive in around 3 weeks (if ya disagree plz say, i will change)
another 50,000 proceed more cautiously eastward from the E border of falastur, over the river toward (Edit: dark terror), where hopefully the country is left almost undefended......
100,000 troops are left in reserve in falastur bringing my total to 275,000....
Sweeping toward Elbestadt, the Blue Order Army stared down upon it's large, stone wall. They must have heard they had been coming right at the last minute. Slack fortifications were scattered around. 100,000 Orderians waited to see what their officers had to say. " Retreat, artillery forward! " shouted a large bellied officer, as the men stepped in line and turned back. The artillery rolled forward. General Padraic McKenna shouted out orders as faces peered from the walls of Eblestadt. " Tell them that if they give the good word that they will not join into this war, and that allow us free passage and let us seize their whole weaponry for the time being, they will be spared and their city will not be burned, they are in no fit state to fight, they must know that ."
Still no word had come from Elbestadt. " It's a shame, but it's got to be done " muttered General McKenna. " Artillery blast the fortifications, were going in. " Heavy cannon resounded loudly all around striking fortification upon fortification. The cannon banged and thudded for around 30 minutes, but soon a gap was opening in the centre of the Elbestadtian wall. Seeing defenders looking awestruck at the hole, grapeshot was ordered to be fired in the gap. Men were cut down like ripe corn. Seeing this, Mckenna seized the opportunity. " Infantry, forward!" Around 25,000 men poured towards the hole. Defending cannons boomed at them, inflicting casualties, the defenders guns cut down the attackers, but soon the hole was breached, BO troops swarmed through. The defenders fought bravely, but the battle-hardened Orderians used their better equipment and tactical skill the counter any attack. Though the Elbestadtian had the numbers, there lack of warfare skills meant they were easily defeated. Around 16,000 Orderians were killed or wounded. The number of Russapovians killed is unconfirmed.
Hills around New Braunau
General Ae'tius sat atop his horse, looking down upon the city of New Braunau. With no true defenses and only a simple militia it couldn't be expected to stand up to an attack. But an attack would cost the lives of the Talaaxian soldiers and they were needed for the attack on Reichskamphen.
In a relatively kind mood, Ae'tius decided to send an emmisary into the city with an offer of surrender. Taking a pen and a piece of parchment, Ae'tius scribbled the following note.
New Braunau Militia Commander,
It is simple fact that your men cannot stand up to the force of this Talaaxian army. Any confrontation would unnecessarily cost lives. New Braunau is a wonderfully beautiful city and I would hate to see it reduced by my cannon. All I ask is that you surrender your arms to me and allow my forces passage and boarding in your city. In return we will not attack, loot or destroy any part of your city.
I await your response,
Ae'tius.
He then handed the note to a young corporal and sent him into the city under a white flag to deliver the message. While waiting he had his cannon set up in a semi-circle around the south of the city. Several 50-pound cannon were also brought up and readied to begin pounding the city, should the offer be refused.
Dark Terror, have your troops reach the Reichskamphenian coast yet?

Freedom Countries fleet, complete with 50,000 soldiers and artillery units, pulls into harbor. The troops unload, and start to build defensive positions around the town.
The Blue Orderian army lay down to rest. It had been a hard battle, the battle of Elbestadt, but no relief was yet to come. 10,000 soldiers had been killed or invalided. 6,000 of the injured were fit to return to action. Their next march was down toward Kamphstadt. They would wait there until Talaax had conquered New Braunau. Around 60,000 Orderians were heading to Reichskamphen. The other 230,000 were to head back to Victory Island, and wait for further instructions. The battles continued.......

OOC: I wanted to fight for Elbestadt. Being the second most important city in the Kingdom, I won't let it go without a fight. Read my post in the other thread. I was slow on the uptake but I have been busy. Anything in the war needs to basically revert if any action has been taken.
IC: King Nathaniel looked with his Telescope out over the Blue Orderian troops at the gates of Elbestadt. He examined their positions and called for his aide de camp to bring him a piece of paper. He scribbled an order upon it and returned it to the aide. The aide walked over to a lone Cavalry rider and handed the paper to him, slapping the horse to set him off. 15 minutes later. An enormous cloud of dust could be seen on the roads to the extreme right of the Blue Orderian position. The enormity of the cloud suggested some great movement to the Blue Orderian left.
*Far left of Blue Orderian position*
Several of the huge, burly Sappeurs, normally out in front of the army were hacking their way through the thick underbrush on the side of the road and pushing into the woods. They were acting as a picket to detect enemy movement on whatever was behind them. "What are we doing this for?" one of the Sappeurs grumbled. "Shut up and do your job and mind yoru business." one of the others said back to him.
*Same time on the Right of the Blue Orderian position*
A few soldiers ambled along casually spraying cans of oil on the paths ahead of them. They were singing a song as the others came up behind. They continued spraying and sang along with the men. The sun shone through the trees and the men took this chance to drink from the cantine and do other things before the fight began.
*Command Tent of King Nathaniel*
"I am hoping that I shall lead the army of Elbestadt to a great victory today and I am hoping that you shall all lead your men to victory." the King, in Royal Guard uniform, said to the assembled generals and officers. There were cries of "God Save the King" and other such things. The King stepped down and whispered to General DeLoma, the commander of the Cavalry, "I want Cavalry patrols as far out as you can get them. See what they are up to. Find out if they are moving against our movement on the left, find out if they are shifting troops to move against it. I want to know their strength on both flanks and the centre and the rear. Get me some information."
"Sir," DeLoma responded, "I shall go straightways to make it so." He then left the tent and went out to talk to his staff.
When the lower officers had been dismissed, King Nathaniel spoke to his 5 high ranking Marechals alone over a map. "Alright," he said, pointing to the map. "I want your men, Marechal MacDonald, to deploy in the centre to hold the area incase of a frontal assault, I want Marechal Ney to anchor our right firmly. Create a series of three redoubts (trenches reinforced with cannons etc etc) to hold it down and General DeLoma will give you cavalry to probe ahead for any odd events. General Palmerston," he addressed the head of Artillery, "I want your cannons to line the ridge and get an overlapping field of fire. But before you do that, I want half of the 600 cannons to turn their fire on the enemy left to soften them up. Once you do that, the action will begin." they all looked off to the dust clouds climbing skyward...pluming out. Still looking at the clouds he said, "Marechal Kellerman, Soult, and DeFaux...you know where your men are. Go join them." The three Marechals looked at the clouds as well then walked away to join their men.
One hour later, the cannons opened up and the dust cloud was moving closer to the Enemy Left.
OOC: When the cavalry probe is sent out, it is not that many, just a few squads of riders dispersing to see what is around. You can do one of a few things. If for some reason you detect the probe...most rarely are detected, you can send out other Cavalry to deal with it..deal with it in a military fashion. Or you can simply have men dodge the probe but normally people dont even see it if the Cavalry does their job. So basically you have to state what could be seen by the cavalry eg your troop disposition...were you shifting troops to the left. He could see some of what you are doing with his telescope but not all. Just as you can. I know from people in the area the relative size of your army but because you havent passed through the territory my men have been through, you cannot know much about the size of my army so I wont let that out until you conduct a cavalry probe or if you decide not to, until you attack. If I lose this one, I will fall back, if you lose, you do what you will.

OOC: I say what we do is we can conduct up to three battles at a time because there are three of us. In my situation, there are Reichskamphian men with everyone's army, I am just leasing command of them to other countries like they were my generals on that front. I will command the battle for Elbestadt. FC can get Kamphstadt...and Falastur is allied with me and he can get the people coming in from way north...addressing those people...you do know your troops will be tired as crap because that is like walking from one end of Russia to the other...It will also take a helluva long time because you are going on foot.
To be fair, Elbestadt would not have much time to assemble an army. My original plan was to march straight through without conflict. It takes weeks to get any form of an army assembled. You won't have been as prepared as that. If we are going to do this again, we should do it properly.

OOC: Remember, this is Russapovia...Russapovia was recently taken over by Reichskamphen...there are Reichskamphian Armies ALREADY THERE. Plus, the cities themselves do not raise armies as it was in the Holy Roman Empire. This is one of the King's Armies. I have posted men in most of the majour cities of Russapovia to control the peace. Also, when we mobilized at the very beginning...are you telling me that I didn't mobilize? Seeing that I was going to be attacked, I definately would have mobilized. There are two Large Armies in Russapovia, each of 50,000 men but one is subdivided into two smaller armies of 25,000 men. I know how warfare in this period works. What I have done is absolutely correct. Also, in terms of RP rules...you don't know what is defending New Braunau...I decide that. And since that sorta is the capitol...it would be defended either by one of the army groups or a subdivision thereof.
You may have planned to do this, but plans often get thrown off. The situation I have set for you is perfectly legitimate. There are also 100,000 men in Reichskamphen but in 4 armies of 25,000 a piece. I am able to resist you, trust me. If I lose this battle and lose it in a big way, then that army will be forced to retreat and you will gain momentum. That is how the whole thing works. In conclusion...the situation is legit and IS the right way of doing it.
RP rules are that you can state what you do and whats going on, but the enemy states the damages, and the disposition of his troops. If you think New Braunau is defended only by that...fine, thats acceptable. But I decide what goes on at that end of the stick. I will be fair. If you get me good, I will RP a defeat and wont make up reasons for my victory like alot of bad RPers do throughout NS. But you will need to trust me that I know what I am doing. I have studied this type of Warfare for a couple of years and have it pretty down pat. I hope what I say does not sound too harsh, but it is truth. Just respond to my post.
Ok that sounds fair. Shall we start it then?
Seems our numbers are very evenly matched. I have more artillery, but thats not really an advantage as you are defending. So here it goes.
Blue Orderians watched the city come to greet them. Men lined the walls with musket and all forms of cannon. General Padraig McKenna paced back and forwards assessing the situation. " Send the artillery forward, 700 cannon, 50 grapeshot. Pepper the walls, concentrate on it's weakest point, use the grapeshot on the most crowded parts of the walls, we can win this battle. " The infantry retreated back, as the heavy weaponry went forward. When they got to a reasonably safe distance, they were halted by a general. " Fire at will " was the resounding cry................

OOC: Just a small thing, it isn't a walled City persay. Read my post above, the long one, and respond to it. That is the new beginning.
Oh, not walled? Ok, let's rethink that then.
McKenna assessed the situation. " We are evenly matched, artillery forward, grapeshot forward, let's blow them out of the water, split the men into battalions of five, 20,000 in each one. Have the cavalry of 1,000 horses attack from the side. Keep the men close at all time." was his orders. Looking at his men while they were carried he knew this battle should go well......

OOC i estimate that my troops should be roughly within sight of the troops of dark terror coming toward reichs.....however, to be fair, ill say that those marching on DT (the country) have not yet arrived.....
IC the cavalry officers hands shook as he lowered the field glasses from his eyes. this was going to mean a lot of innocents' deaths. brilliant. he took off down the hill, and off to where his army advance posts were, to report in.
250 guns are being prepped, ready to move into position on command, when their ideal locations are ascertained, ready to fire on the troops of dark terror. the infantry and cavalry are lying in wait several miles away
as are the guns atm, all ready to move onto the troops of DT. however, at the moment they are stationary....

The riders were spotted at the last minute. " Spies, spies " shouted an infantrymen, as the men swivelled round to look at him. They primed their muskets, but it was too late. " Why didn't you spot him earlier " shouted Captain Daniel Gallacher, as the men stood shaking. " Get ready, the battle starts here, let us win and be victorious, praise our lord God in our Protestant heaven "....................
