Rioneran King unexpectedly dies

02-10-2003, 19:27
HAMMERHALL, Rionero -- The Kingdom of Rionero was struck by tragedy early this morning, when King Francis Altobello was found dead at approximately 3:30 AM. It appears he suffered a massive heart attack sometime during the night, and it is widely believed that this was due to the stress he had been dealing with for the past 10 months, that it had finally caught up with him. Altobello was relatively young, only 59 years of age.

His only son, 26 year old Vincent Altobello, is preparing to take his place as King.

The funeral procession made it's way down Hammerhall's Main Street, on route to the cemetary. People who lived in apartment complexes on that street looked out the window and silently mourned the passing of their king, a man they had loved for 21 years. The procession was enourmous, stretching for the whole length of the street, including numerous floral arrangements, which had to be loaded into 9 seperate cars.

Once at the cemetary, King Francis I was buried between his mother and father, and behind the land marked for his 4 still-living brothers. The cemetary had offerend a private place for him to be buried, but the family had refused, saying that Francis was not at all the type, and he would have wanted to be buried with the rest of his family.

His tombstone was something to behold, standing 9 feet tall, with intricate designs and patterns lining the outside, and a statue of the Holy Mother on the top. The glory of it was added to as the floral arrangements were placed by the grave, and by the large number of people at the burial.

Priest John Orozzio, the Altobello family's preacher, held the short procession at the grave. Within a half hour, it was done, and now all that was left to do was put the new King in place.

Condolences from Wretchengard for the passing of Rionero's king. He has served his country and the land of Arda faithfully and well, and surely deserves his place on the other side.

Furthermore, the Overlord Bradley Steelblood would like to offer his own personal condolences to Prince Vincent Altobello, and wish him all the best in getting through this dark time. He is confident that the Prince will prove to be a good king and bear the burden of leadership with strength and honour.

The Imperium expresses our deepest condolances to Rionero for this tragic loss. Francis Altobello, despite getting off to a 'bad start' of sorts, turned out to be a truly great man, who forged the ties that bind our two great nations. He will be missed.

Furthermore, we have nothing but high hopes for his successor, and look forward to working with King Vincent.
