The Kisnesian government has developed 4 identical supercomputers, 3 of which are being auctioned in this thread to the international community.

These supercomputers are widely believed to be the fastest in the world, and are definately the fastest available for purchase.

--------------------
Specs:

KisOS 2.1.5 (Specially Written for these computers)
100 KisPro processors @ 3.5 Ghz, with 1.5 Ghz system bus
1 Gb Level 3 Cache
2 Petabytes Hard Disk space (2 Million Gigabytes) running @ 10,000 RPM
256 Gigabytes DDR-2 RAM @ 2.1 Ghz
40 KisView Graphics Processors
60 Gigabytes of Graphics RAM

Cooling system included in purchase.

Any necessary ports, both for input (USB, Firewire, etc.) and output (Video, etc) will be included at your request.
--------------------

Minimum Floor Space for this computer: Room slightly smaller than half of an American Football field.

Minimum Population to buy this computer: 350 Million

Minimum Bid: $25 Billion (which represents us breaking even).

This computer could, very quickly, put your nation at the forefront of weapons system design.

Post your bids below.

Not compared to most modern PCs, which have at max 7,200 RPM drives.

The Kingdom of Crookfur will place a bid of $40billion on one (we need soemthing to replace our older super computers, one got kind of damaged in a dispute over the computer using wall hacks in a game of CS, of course how and why soemone was playing counter strike against the computer remains a mystery...)

Rianisis (858 million) will put 40 billion on the table for 1 Kisnesian Supercomputer. We will add another 1 billion for Kisnesia to deliver and install equipment.

Thank you

Top Bids as of when I started to post:

Arribastan: 80 Billion
Sniper Country: 78.9something Billion
Crookfur: 60 Billion

Bidding ends in 1 RL day.

Your payment includes shipping and installation price: that was factored into our minimum 25 Billion Bid. It also includes 2 RL Weeks (14 Years?) Technical Support from a specialized team that can, if you want, reside in your country for that time.

No really the hard drive seek time makes this supercomputer almost pointless. A scsi 10,000 rpm/147gig hard drive has a seek time of around 4.7 nanoseconds. Even if you upgraded the servos and heads in the hard drive there is no way that you could get reasonable seek times with this hard drive setup. Invest in better hard drive technology.

And who needs Hard Drives with this much RAM and Processing power?

The hard drives are more for permanent storage - there is a good chance that you won't use them except perhaps weekly. Just set everything you are working on to save overnight, and it will be done in a few hours - remember, you have several hundred hard drives all working at the same time. If you fill up all 40 Gigs of RAM (WOW THAT IS A LOT!!!) and then ask it to all save, it would take about 1 hour.

Secondly, Kisnesian Hard Drives have double read/write heads: one that starts at the end of the drive, and one at the beginning. They are controlled by a circular linked list structure inside the ROM chips of the drive. The disk only spins at 10,000, but it is essentially the same as a 20,000 RMP disk because of the double heads (it is actually a little closer to 19,500 RPM in our tests).

If your OS and progies run off of ram and not the hard drive then why have them. Just use tape drives to archive the infromation, it's faster. You will be able to save and retrive information much faster that way.
